The Dude

I know you cant do that sort of thing after the sanctions come so it might be a good idea to do that to sell to recruits that "Hey even if we cant go to a bowl, we are going to Hawaii or San Diego or somewhere cool."

You are right six this was going to be the year of the Expos but on august 11 1994 The MLB strike killed our dreams and a few years later Jeffrey Loria and David Samson made sure we would no longer have MLB in Montreal. I hope Loria and Samson won't do the same with the Marlins but i don't trust them.

Six i am glad you feel better...You gonna have some good laughs with Popeye's grand son.

Charles Robinson during the interview with Dan Sileo @ 5:14: "I would love to hear... you know... Sean Allen at some point... speak out on you know... whether or not the story is true."

Q

Yeah six. My cousins and friends hate when I play with them online cause I can build sdsu up within 3 years. I try 1 stars though like Utah state and fau,,fiu.. Very hard. Sorry about your place.

86, you should do another countdown like you did 2 years ago of the top 30-40 players on ums roster. Might make the 60 + days go by faster

Hearing there was a mass exodus at Canesport because they hosted Chuck Rob for that interview. Hope they all cancel their subscription and they go under for hosting it.

@SFHSSports: Miami Southridge S Jamal Carter tell us he will now make his announcement Thursday at 3:00PM (instead of 1:30pm).

Only for the winner. Loser still takes the mark in their loss column as vacated wins don't affect losses even if both teams are vacating results from the same year.

A cross country flight for a middling football team against non-marquee opposition is a money loser right off the bat for an already frugal athletic department. The definition of a non-starter for UM it sounds like to me.

You are probably right about the money. I'm just saying it would be nice for the kids on the team and might help in recruiting. Most fans probably wouldnt go anyways.

As well they should. Canesport should leave the LIVE chats to those that know what they are doing and the invites to Canespace.

Here, here! Though to be fair, CEO, Robinson wouldn't last very long here. Do we really need someone else joining the chronically unemployed?

:)

j.w.

I read the transcript of that exchange- according to many, many people the host of canesport (whom I won't mention by name intentionally) wouldn't allow tons of questions. Who knowsi they were filled with expletives or not, but the softballs that were posted made it look like Cane fnas were kowtowing to the ahole Robinson

The Canes and the NCAA investigation need to be watched at the same level as recruiting and the Dwight Howard trade saga. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to stay in front of the story. So wait until the NCAA says something. Wait til National Signing Day. And wait until a deal actually gets done. Anything else is just speculation and smoke being blown up your backside.

G & T -

AMEN, brother!

I hope people don't misconstrue my sentiments as I have no issues with the fact there are different strokes for different folks, but I am firmly in G & T's camp.

I have to admit though, sometimes I feel there are a group of us who actually preceded the one and only 'Space and "hung out" on Omar's blog that are the "elders" and simply chalk much of the speculation stuff to "been there done that".

I'm eager to hear how the teams work ethic and team unity translate on the field and if the coaches are ready for prime time.

Thanks Pre.

I don't know, it just seemed like the NCAA was covering their asses, the same way that PSU was saving their asses when they covered up this whole tragedy.

I agree with Mrs. Paterno, this was a panicked decision. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Posted by: CaneRock | July 24, 2012 at 12:33 AM

What irks me, is that they made an expedient decision based on the Freeh report, which was 267 pages long. Our list of violations can't possibly be that long...could it?

Posted by: CaneRock | July 24, 2012 at 05:10 PM

CaneRock-

Bro, we are on the exact same wave length once again. I couldn't agree more! Well stated.

At this juncture, I also would agree that it may be best to self-impose another bowl ban, but considering all that is involved in this decision, I have to trust Coach Golden on this.

Montreal-Cane

Some facts for Charles Robinson

...Aubrey Hill was never a coach under Head Coach Al Golden...I think Robinson got a wake up call when interviewed by Dan Sileo earlier this week on WQAM...Good thing Robinson is in London now drinking some London gin.

On december 13 2010 Al Golden had his press conference upon his hiring. If i recall correctly, Al Golden stayed away from the football team and the coaches until after the Sun Bowl was played on Dec 31 2010 against Notre Dame. Stoutland was the interim head coach days after Randy Shannon was fired and until Golden took over on January 1st 2011.

On December 31, 2010, Hill announced to ESPN's Bruce Feldman that he was going to return to the University of Florida under new Florida head coach, Will Muschamp.

In the article of Charles Robinson (Michigan State Sparty the Spartan aka Chuck alma...) you can see phone records on dec. 17 and 18 2010 with the name Aubrey Hill so???????

Was Chuck drunk when he wrote his piece of garbage?

And finaly do you think Al Golden would ask an Equipment Assistant Manager to do his recruiting...

paterno, Penn State, and the local courts have been covering up for football for years. The mainstream press gave the Lions a pass. If this was Miami's record all hell would break loose Nationwide. But we are 'ThugU'?

If we were in the same boat and O'Brien was our coach, he sure couldn't use playing in front of 108 thousand 6 or 7 weekends a year, as a reason to not jump ship. Those players maybe saying all the right things now especially Srs. but once the reality sets in and they can't play for a conf. ship, nat'l ship, or go to a bowl, I can see at least 15 to 20 hitting the door. You can boast grad rates and a chance at the NFL all you want, any univ. can. You definetly can't use prestigious university for a while, Shamedusky took care of that.

Ohio_Cane

Papa Cane - My Take: If National Signing Day were today, WR Kermit Whitfield would sign with FSU. I think that ship has sailed.

Ohio_Cane

Papa Cane - I can't stress it enought. High School student athletes need to study and keep their grades up. No grades, no offer. Don't sink your future.

You would be surprised about who recently tried to commit to UM but they lacked the grades and right attitude. Less PS3, more homework.

Ohio_Cane

^^^^^^ Sorry folks, I can't share the name but it was a a 4-Star recruit. I'm not in the business of humiliating young men. He just needs to study.

herbieibis

Yeah Ohio, Kermit won't be back. I don't know about a ship sailing but he's in a dory and I'm not sure that we need him anyway, other than he can blaze. Collins will be in there also. I think both end up at FSHOO.

herbieibis

DT Scott Pagano to Clemson over LSU, Flo & Bama, say what? From Hawaii to Clemson, you got to be kidding me. That's like going from Miami to the Everglades. Those coaches must be some kind of salesmen because you ain't selling the town or much else other than playing football. It just baffles me the guys they're getting. I can see the home state boys choosing between USC or Clemson but the out of state talent they are pulling in, to me is a miracle.

TJL

Kermit's a frog

Nevermind, I found it in an old email.

The What

Clemson is paying big money and if this continues the SEC will start leaking stories about that program. Clemson is playing with fire and is gonna get burned. They did this in the early 80s I believe and got caught. Looks like they are trying it again.

New Susan:

UM indefinitely postpones the South Florida Touchdown Club's "Meet the UM Freshmen Dinner;" S.F. Touchdown Club now official chapter of the National Football Foundation
I was just about to blog about about the South Florida Touchdown Club Foundation recently becoming part of the National Football Foundation Chapter Network, and in connection, let you know about the "Meet the UM Football Freshman" dinner, originally scheduled for a week from today.

But then I learned the "Meet the UM Football Freshman dinner" was just indefinitely postponed, "at the request of the University of Miami,'' said Chris Ball, programs vice president and director of the South Florida Touchdown Club Foundation, in an email.

"With the recent news articles and internal disciplinary actions affecting the U, we agree that it's best to respect their wishes and defer this event," Ball wrote. "...We thank you for your consideration and continued support of the U.''

It's unfortunate programs such as this are being canceled by UM, especially since the UM's freshman dinner has been around for more than 30 years, and it gives fans a chance to meet their players up close and at length. But in light of the NCAA investigation, UM officials are being super careful about public access. Hopefully the dinner will return at some point -- at least before the freshmen are sophomores. But I doubt it for this year.

"paterno, Penn State, and the local courts have been covering up for football for years. The mainstream press gave the Lions a pass. If this was Miami's record all hell would break loose Nationwide. But we are 'ThugU'? "

Compared to Penn State, we're ChampionshipU. Paterno was there, what, 176 years? Even the head coach for Murray State (FSU's next opponent) would win two titles in that span.

And yes, Kermit is absolutely a frog. Quite popular, but still a frog. I've got no problems with frogs hopping merrily away.

"Sorry folks, I can't share the name but it was a a 4-Star recruit. I'm not in the business of humiliating young men. He just needs to study."

Classy choice. Unfortunately, it's too common an ailment in today's climate. UM's a top 40 institution and has 5 rings. You'd be nucking futs not to at least try hard and get in.

herbieibis

How does a kid like Sammy Watkins end up at Clemson, it's not like they have been a football jugernaut. I'd say they are prepping for a conference shift and selling that.

In a White Caddy.

Charles Robinson is a douche bag i bet he gets no women n spends countless hours alone searching through trash cans what a prick

The What

Here is my question. Has this always been a problem since Miami raises its standards? I believe in the late 90s early 2000s? USC has the same if not higher standards than we do. Do they have this issue or do they make exceptions? And is this even a problem or is it made bigger by the fact that we know more about recruits today than ever before. Would be greatly appreciated if anyone in the know could answer those questions.
