jw, ocala,
thanks for the kind words.
I still love this place, just new business opportunities, and some chances to do things on the bucket list have really put a dent into my blogging time.

I think we will be dealt with fairly and it will be pretty costly for our past negligence.
When you break the rules you suck it up and hopefully learn from it.

To think NC, Ohio State, and Penn State were punished fairly but we should be get a pass because Golden is well spoken and very likable is being optimistic. We might get a gold star on our foreheads for cooperating but we are going to get our just punishment and it's going to have fans whining.

Solar, I agree completely.

However, I don't think it'll be anywhere near what PSU got like some believe. It'll be closer to OSU's than it will be to PSU's.

Yes, one specific player. All I can say is that he plays offense, was not expected to choose Miami at first and then tried to commit but APPARENTLY was not accepted.

MIAMI'S PRIMARY TARGETS AT HIS POSITION ARE STILL IN LINE TO BECOME CANES.

The differences between NCAA coaches

A Sociopath

A sociopath is typically defined as someone who lies incessantly to get their way and does so with little concern for others. A sociopath is often goal-oriented (i.e., lying is focused - it is done to get one's way). Sociopaths have little regard or respect for the rights and feelings of others. Sociopaths are often charming and charismatic, but they use their talented social skills in manipulative and self-centered ways (see, lovefraud, for more on sociopaths).

Compulsive Liar

A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive liars bend the truth about everything, large and small. For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right. Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary. For the most part, compulsive liars are not overly manipulative and cunning (unlike sociopaths), rather they simply lie out of habit - an automatic response which is hard to break and one that takes its toll on a relationship (see, how to cope with a compulsive liar).

The terms Pathological Liar, Habitual Liar and Chronic Liar are often used to refer to a Compulsive Liar

UMike...thanks for the tip but as U know, I know a troll when I see one. They show up out of the blue, they post something negative as their first comment, they use a fake email, and a one time IP addy.

I have met U, been to games with U, tailgated with U and shared good times with U and others during our infamous "Parties on the Patio" at the Hampton Inn.

I have your actual email address, your mailing address and photos of U and your son at the UM Spring game a few years back. U are a real person, these trolls are not and I can spot them a MILE away.

Anyone has a question all they gotta do to clarify their position is to email me at: canespace86@aol.com

Solar...thanks for the positive comments, they are MUCH appreciated. Most bloggers here still don't read the articles or comment on them but hey, all I can do is all I can do for those that do take time to read them.

UpNorthCane27

86 is that player stacey coley??? Lol really only offensive player who i can think of ....

But either way for all the haters outthere the HURRICANES are coming!!!!!

CaneLunatic

In no way am I a troll.

I post from my work laptop which has all kind of security protocols when browsing the Internet. I would give more details, but that's the IT's dept job, not mine. I'm not a software security guru.

I just posted my thoughts and observations and what I thought was logical.

As far as: "To think NC, Ohio State, and Penn State were punished fairly but we should be get a pass because Golden is well spoken and very likable is being optimistic. We might get a gold star on our foreheads for cooperating but we are going to get our just punishment and it's going to have fans whining."

NC and Ohio Sate DID get a pass, IMO. Their transgressions were clearly proven, specific, and without any possible contradiction. It wasn't like a pathological liar and convicted felon, with very little documentable evidence was making outlandish sensational claims, that played well with the sensationalistic press (prostitute abortions), but are IMPOSSIBLE to prove.

So I don't think we should get a pass, I think if appropriate charges are proven, we should get OSU and NC type penalties. Which I know we would all be happy with. But I think we will get much worse than them which is TOTALLY unfair. Other than the tabloid nature of our charges, I think what OSU and NC are much more undermining to an academic institution.

My reason for not being optimistic is that Emmert is coming across as an overreaching jerk to me, and that he will succumb to popular sentiment, NOT what's fair. Which is why I think we will get hammered.

So I really don't agree Solar, I think everyone would be happy with OSU or NC penalties and if we get significantly worse, we will have every right to cry foul. Look at what's been PROVEN OSU and NC did. So I also disagree that we will get a just punishment, Solar. Our punishment will be commensurate with our reputation, national perception, and downright hatred towards us. How is that just? I hope I'm wrong.

As far as posting on the PB Post. Are you kidding? Millian is a hard core gator, and it's a cesspool of gator trolling. No thanks. Plus what I posted, since it could be perceived as 'negative" would be picked up and run with by the gator trolls.

86Cane

Lunatic...bottom line: just email me, U know where, IF U wanna stay on The Space.

j.w.

well said Solar (and everyone else for that matter.) if always thought we would get something closer to Ohio State than USC, hope that isn't wishful thinking

Q

I dont like talking about the future imposing sanctions for um. I just hope golden and Co stick around. But if its anything like usc's which IMO it will be.... Some players will leave but um will rise and with that behind them they will dominate again. Golden wont leave Miami.. And Ohio I get it man. Im anxious about th3 I want him to have that Brandon HARRIS factor !

CaneLunatic

Take my comments for what their worth and with the sincerity with which they were posted. I just find that Canespace is more or less free of the hideous ridiculous BS I see in other places like the Post and others.

I agree.
With the exception of maybe Haith, ours was mostly a case of assistant coaches and a Super Towel Boy gone wild. Even Shapiro acknowledged that Dee,Shalala, and Shannon didn't know what the hell was going on.

Depending on how the NCAA chooses to define a lack of institutional control in our case, ours doesn't compare from a "chain of command" standpoint. We'll see...

CaneRock

Hmmmm, what do ya'll make of this:

### The NCAA has renewed efforts to try to get former UM players to corroborate Nevin Shapiro’s claims and has asked UM for help in contacting them. Predictably, the former UM players have been ignoring the NCAA’s calls. UM is in a tough spot, because it wants to cooperate with the NCAA but doesn’t want any former players giving credence to Shapiro’s allegations, either.

Per Barry J.

solarcane

canelunatic,
I respect your opinion but like I suggested many a cane fan will whine a bit about the penalties dealt us.

It may sound unrealistic in this day and age but what if Miami had coaches and players that resisted the urge to put their own interests and comfort ahead of their school, fans and community?
Because it seems everybody else breaks the rules doesn't justify being part of it.
I think coach Golden is trying his best to get the players and fans out of this mindset.

To me no matter how you spin it, it was our guys that put themselves at the mercy of the NCAA.
It's too late to shift the focus from what we were doing was wrong to how unfair the punishment is going to be.

CaneRock

Posted by: solarcane | July 25, 2012 at 11:13 PM

That's what the NCAA thought...and then there was PSU. The PSU tragedy had the NCAA at the "mercy" of the mob.

raizecane

This just in.....my PC suks azz. I fire up two URL's and get a "running low on memory" pop up window from Norton.

The What

Thanks for the clarification soup. Greatly appreciate it. If the coaches rejected him and they are still on pace to get who they want then no matter how talented said player is I don't view it as a loss. I have full faith in golden and staff to make the best decisions for the team.

CaneRock - that could actually be a good sign that they couldn't get much info doing their own investigation and need former players to talk to them to get more info. They are dealing with a pathological liar. Without corroboration or solid evidence how do you know he's not lying.

This NCAA investigation has so many tentacles. A pathological liar, other cheaters like hurtt, hill, haith. A federal investigation into a ponzi schemer that could not fully untangle his financial records. Investors seeking to get their money back, former and current players. It's such a massive web of deceit. Then you have someone like Allen calling hurtt and stoutland (allegedly) helping them recruit players. There were some very bad apples at the U. And on top of our punishment (which will be similar to unc and Ohio state but with two bowl bans one served already) I think a lot of individuals are going to get punished for this. I think Emmett set the tone with PSU in punishing the school as a whole. With Miami he is gonna punish the school but I think go more after individuals to set another example. It will be two different punishments and meant to send a message in two different ways. IMO show cause for hurtt, haith, Allen, and the other assistants and staff that were behind this. Emmett is the roger goodell of the NCAA. He is not messing around and he will tackle the Miami issue different than he did the PSU issue.

Finally I'm disappointed only one cane was voted on the ACC team. Since most of our players are freshman I understand but I do believe by the end of the season we will have to or three more all ACC guys.

Nation misses Miami, Golden says
by: Michael Casagrande July 25th, 2012

There’s no denying the Miami of late isn’t the Miami of 10 years ago. A 6-6 season like last year’s would have been hard to imagine 10 years back.

Al Golden wants that expectation to return to the Hurricane program. He spoke a lot about bringing things back to the way it used to be at this week’s ACC Kickoff in Greensboro.

I think people miss us being on the national scene, deep down inside, Golden said. It’s really unique to be in a city like Miami and really have that kind of enclave of Hurricane fans. It’s really unique because I’ve been in Boston and I’ve been in Philadelphia, but this is unique.
You could argue that when the Hurricanes are playing their best, that’s as good a ticket as anything in the city. That’s what we need to get back to. We need to get back to being that type of team. So I think the support is there, and we appreciate it.

What will it take to get back to that level? Leave a comment below and see what the others think.

TonyCane

What will it take to get back to that level?

Two - three years with Golden at the helm, mimimal to no sanctions, and no further NCAA shenanigans.

The What

In two years we will be a top 10 team. The defense is going to be Great and with Olsen at qb the offense will be humming. I think by 2014 we will have a championship caliber team. Even with the sanctions we will still be on that pace. Miami is like USC, they can quickly rebuild and we have a solid coaching staff and great recruiters. Our trajectoy is rising.

TonyCane

I think the top goals for this year should be:

1. National Championship
2. If that quest fails, qualify for a bowl so that we can decline, thereby nullifying an NCAA bowl ban (hopefully).
3. Develop young talent, play freshmen, and get experience to make the big leap next year.
4. Embarass Va Tech and FSU.
5. Continue to build that wall around South Florida, and prevent Gator recruiters from trying to dig beneath it.

1. Lay off the hallucinogens.
2. 6 wins is the floor. That doesn't change. End of season schedule alone should make up for half of that.
3. It's already starting. Deon Bush!
4. I don't see us embarassing either one of those two. However, I strongly believe we can beat Tech.
5. That's already happened. See 2012 class.

They have nothing in many of the allegations so they need some players to come forward and backup the rats allegations

86Cane

FWIW: I am told that Hurtt, Hill and Stoutland did not do UM any favors.

myndraize

Should the U decide to take another self-imposed bowl ban that would be 2 straight, considering miami is a private school would they add more years to that? I can't imagine miami's punishment being worst than SC or OSU who truely had a loss of institutional control.
