Full disclosure to start off: I have lived in Ohio for the last 20 years. I know it is sad, but true, that over 95% of my friends and family are long time, and big time, Ohio State fans. However, let me tell U that as a Miami Hurricanes fan my hate for the Buckeyes could not run any deeper.
Let’s be honest, how could we possibly talk about Ohio State without bringing up the word “Hate”. It sounds good, it feels good, it rhymes, and it just fits.
My hate for Ohio State may run a little deeper than some of yours simply because I’ve had to listen to their annoying, arrogant, and clueless fans for the better part of my life, up close and personal, and not just over the internet or in the media.
Believe me when I tell U, it doesn’t get much worse than listening to a fan base be more over-confident and over-bearing than the Bucknuts. Let me break it down for you bullet-point-style:
Their Fans: As I’ve alluded to previously, it’s the FANS! To be completely fair, there isn’t any other sport or team worth cheering for in Ohio, especially in college, so they kind of get every fan from the state that doesn’t already have a favorite team. Then the rest gets them to follow along and scream “OH-IO” and sing “Hang on Sloopy” until their redneck vocal cords fall out. Sitting there drinking their Old Milwaukee beer and screaming their heads off and playing their fight song with every single yard gained. Seriously, it’s 2nd and 9 and your team gains 2 yards, and you go nuts? Seriously? You know it’s now 3rd and 7, right?
Their Fans (AGAIN): Yes, they deserve more than one bullet. I don’t know about U, but I always have to listen to this: “Why does Miami call themselves ‘The U’, and why do they have a ‘U’ on their helmet? That stands for University, so every school in the country could call themselves ‘The U’, that’s stupid”. Are they kidding? This, coming from a team with uniforms that don’t match (silver helmet and gray pants) and has a mascot of a Buckeye, which is a nut that fell off a tree? They’re NUTS, that’s for sure.
DID I MENTION THEIR FANS? Seriously, they’ve won one National Championship since 1970 and they act like the best thing since sliced bread. Mention the 5 National Championships Miami has since 1983? They respond “What happened in 2003?” or “Who won the most recent one?”. Mention “24-6” (The most recent Canes’ beating of OSU) and they respond with the same questions as an answer. Mention how Miami has more 1st round draft picks in the NFL, most players in the NFL, most Pro-Bowlers in the NFL, etc? They respond with the same answer. Give me a break!
Not only that, but then U add in this: “THEE Ohio State University.” This is not only their fans, but the players, alumni and coaches all say it too. Why the need for “Thee” before hand? It’s not like there are two Ohio State Universities and you are trying to claim being THE ONE to separate yourself so no one confuses it. You’re the ONLY one in the Country, and it’s just Ohio State University. Maybe if it was a private university, like Miami for example, then you could be arrogant, but you're still just a state-funded public university. Don’t try to church it up, son.
Their Conference: They showboat their record and conference championships like they won the National Championship every year. Yes, they’ve won the Big Ten almost every year for the umpteenth time, but let’s be honest, the Big East excluded, they are in the worst conference in America that claims to be a powerhouse. They keep hiding behind this weak conference and even weaker out of conference schedule. Take any top team in the country from any year, and they’d beat this Bucknut team on a regular basis. Ask the most recent 2 National Champions who dominated them on college football’s biggest stage - Florida (2007) and LSU (2008).
Their Stadium: Albeit a nice and historic facility, it’s shaped like a toilet seat. Seriously. Have U ever looked at the view of “The Horseshoe” from above? Looks just like one from a gas station bathroom. I’d like to sit on top of it and take a nice, long, brown…Buckeye!
Their former coach: Old Sweater Vest was a lying prick. Sorry, but it’s true. Yes, he recruited good players, but he also paid them and lied for them both of which have been proven. For some reason he kept getting a pass from the NCAA, until recently, when it was impossible to sweep it under the rug and he was finally cut loose by Ohio State.
Their current coach: Same story, but even worse than Tressel. Not more than four months into his tenure as The Bucknut’s coach, and he was already ruffling feathers in the Big Ten due to his sleazy recruiting tactics. He’ll continue to coach and recruit players the same way he did at Florida. He’ll baby them and give preferential treatment to his star players who will go on to the NFL and continue to be big babies there (See: Percy Harvin).
January 3rd, 2003: U know where this part is going, don’t U? How could U bring up the HATE for Ohio State without mentioning that date? Oh, I’ll never live this day down with friends and family. In all fairness, this game never should’ve come down to one call on one play that would take away another National Championship. The title was stripped from the hands of arguably one of the best Hurricane teams ever, and definitely the best team in college football history to NOT win a championship.
In conclusion, there are many, many, many reasons to hate Ohio State. There are probably even more than those that I listed. U can chose one, choose a few, or choose all of them.
I, for one, choose them all. I really do hate Ohio State.
P.S. THERE WAS NO PASS INTERFERENCE!
Dante Phillips was a nose hair from flipping 2 UM from uf with his buddy & teammate Danny Dillard. It's not like we are a last resort. Besides, u can never have 2 many 6'6 300 lb d-linemen.

Celtics close to deal with Mavs G Jason Terry.
That sure would seem to kick Ray Allen out the door, and bring him closer to signing with the Heat.

Question:
Will Penn State take paternos statue down now that it has been discovered he knew more than he actually admitted and allowed a child molester to prey on more children.?

To all Spacers, the herb is beach bound & down to North Myrtle Beach, a poor mans version of South Beach, so to all have a good 4TH, keep the hate going, don't blow anything up in a fit of rage, keep looking for those cursed 5-stars, 4-Real and I'll catch up again next Monday. Peace to the Middle East!

Al Golden & company has already told Dante Phillips they can get him in, plus they want him. Nuff said.
Posted by: 4-Real | July 03, 2012 at 04:28 PM
UF not admitting Dante has nothing to do with academics, they just simply didn't want him anymore, Muschamp didn't recruit him, it was Meyer who did.
Personally i don't care if we're last resort or 1st choice, i want this kid in, especially since we're playing the turds next year, this kid will have all kinds of vendetta against them.

CGNC, since the leak of the emails showing Paterno talked the president and company out of turning the gay pederast over to the police, I've come to agree with you. NCAA bylaws have been shown to violated, most of them in the first thumb width of the manual dealing with ethical behavior by university administration right on down the line of the football program chain of command. Time to send the message that football, even in a college town, can never mean that much again no matter what. The courts will have their say also but Emmerit doesn't have to wait so long to dole out the retribution as they will.
Then go look into the runner paid for car Watkins was driving around with his pot in. Priorities, you know?

I could be wrong, but if he was just about to start class this year, doesn't that mean he was a Muschamp recruit? Muschamp already completed a year at Florida, so how is he a meyer guy? Again..if im wrong or off in the years, let me know

BOISE, Idaho -- The NCAA said Friday it will reconsider scholarship sanctions imposed on Boise State's football program.
In a 25-page decision, the NCAA Division I Infractions Appeals Committee concluded that the scholarship penalty announced last September, in addition to Boise State's self-imposed sanctions, was "excessive such that it constituted an abuse of discretion."
Boise State's voluntary measures included three fewer scholarships for the 2011-12 school year and fewer preseason practices. The NCAA added scholarship reductions from 85 to 82 through the 2013-14 school year and limited contact during spring practice.

By the way, saw Spiderman last night in 3D ... was great
I agree as well when it comes Dante. If he couldn't get into UiF acadmeically? Something is wrong. That's the case, correct?

Also, I wonder if what's going on at Penn State, has anything to do with this...

Many thanks for the shirts! Some $$ is coming your way to cover the cost.
My daughter is moving to Tampa in a few weeks. . . .anyone know if there's a group that gets together to watch games, or if the alumni group is active in Tampa? She's looking forward to getting her UMiami Florida license plate.
And I'll volunteer to do the PSU "hate" bog LOL (although maybe this will be disrespectful to Al) I cannot stand to listen to people just endlessly blab about Penn State. And it's hard to avoid here in Central PA.

CaneRock my reaction was like yours. The NCAA has bigger issues to deal with than Boise State and UM with the so called Shapiro ( the rat in prison for life) scandal. Penn State is the most serious case of lack of institutional contol in the history of college football. If the NCAA stays quiet on this one then i'm out of here. Once again the NCAA has a bigger fish to deal with.

Yeah one of the most celebrated coaches in NCAA history going down in flames in a scandal like this is beyond disappointing and disgusting.
I guess the Sammy Watkins case of puff-puff pass and the FREE car is going to go WAY behind this situation?

UM’s other tailback signee, Danny Dillard, probably won’t know for awhile if he will be cleared academically to enroll. Other than receiver Angelo Jean-Louis, every other recruit has been cleared academically and is enrolled, UM says.

Some UM freshmen already impressing; More Heat/Lewis news; Dolphins, Marlins notes
WEDNESDAY BUZZ COLUMN
With nearly all of UM’s freshman class already on campus, some early buzz on a 31-player group that was rated ninth in the country by rivals.com:
### Coach Al Golden said “the majority” of the freshmen will play. “You can’t be afraid to play young people,” he said. Fact is, UM needs them after being depleted by graduation and early departures.
Expect freshmen to be major contributors at cornerback (Tracy Howard and at least one other), running back (Duke Johnson), defensive line (at least two) and likely, receiver (assuming one or two of the five freshmen beats out Kendal Thompkins for a spot in the rotation alongside Allan Hurns, Phillip Dorsett and Rashawn Scott).
Several have looked great in summer drills. Howard has returned interceptions for touchdowns and “is everything everyone makes him out to be,” running back Eduardo Clements said. “The footwork, the breaking on the balls.”
Predictably, players have been impressed by Johnson, especially his quickness and elusiveness. “Wow! He’s a playmaker,” Clements said.
Receivers Malcolm Lewis and Robert Lockhart also look ready to make a serious push for playing time. “Those two have stood out,” fullback Maurice Hagens said. “Both catch the ball very crisply and have learned the offense well.”
Receivers coach George McDonald said Lewis “makes people miss and is probably the fastest” of the five new receivers. UM offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said Lockhart, a polished route-runner, “can be an impact player pretty quickly.”
Coaches are eager to see the three other new receivers: Herb Waters (“once he catches the ball, there’s going to be a lot of yards,” Fisch said) and D’Mauri Jones and Jontavious Carter (a pair of 6-3 athletes with "great ability to go up in the air and catch it,” McDonald said).
And Deon Bush, who can play corner but has been working at safety, “has really impressed me,” Clements said. “Deon grasps everything quickly.”

The "official" place for the Tampa Hurricane Club is ..
CDB's Southside
3671 S. Westshore Blvd.
Tampa, FL 33629
(813) 805-2327
There is an upstairs bar/dining room with little patio out front above the restaurant
Sometimes they'll have one of the bigger rooms downstairs sectioned off just for the Canes games
Italian food
There's generally about 20-25 people there for games
Don't go to Lee Roy Selmon's next to Raymond James Stadium - that place is filled with Sooner fans
There's a bunch of other sports bars in Tampa that generally will put the game on if you ask, some places you'll even have your own little cubby hole to watch - which is nice to get away from all the Croc and Nole fans
Buffalo Wild Wings is good about turning on whatever game you want to whatever TV you want
You want a real nice relaxing spot to watch the games, The Brickhouse on Dale Mabry (literally right next to 275, near Westshore Mall) - I go there a lot. I sent a bunch of Canes fans there before/after the USF game and they all loved it. Has fireplaces, big ass comfy recliner chairs, etc
You're generally in Croc/USF/Nole country in Tampa
Just like there are a ton of Yankee/Red Sox fans here as well
