Thanks for all the updates, all.

The UM ticket office is very busy this week, both on the phone and in person.....

Gin & Tonic

The call in the MNF game seemed to be correct, just not popular. In the NFL possesion is not determined until 2 feet hit the ground with the ball. The reciever had two hands on the ball when his feet hit the ground. Just because the d-back had first contact with the ball doesn't mean he came down first with clear possesion.

It was a close call and could be argued, but it is not the clear case bown call that everyone seems to be making it out to be.

But I could care less about that crap.

Hassan

Gin & Tonic he had one hand on the ball when he hit the ground.

The call was blown and how that is not clear to you is beyond me.

Gin & Tonic

Saturday's game against NC-State is a BIG game for the U in my opinion. This is the type of let down game that the U has struggled in over the past couple of years.

Case in point:

2011: Beat #17 Ohio State 24-6, Next week loose to K-State at home 28-24.

2011: Beat #22 G-tech 24-7 followed by a loss at home to UVA 28-21.

2010: Beat UNC 33-10 get in top 25 followed by loss @ UVA 24-19.

2010: Beat G-tech 35-10 get in top 25 flowwed by loss to V-tech 31-17.

This team needs to follow success with success and stay hungry instead of getting satisfied and thinking they are better than they are.

UpNorthCane27

Gin, After watching it over n over its clear to me that the Db not only have first and clear posession of the ball but he also landed with it having first and clear posession..

the packs got screwed, Shields got fouled...

UM better smack up Notre lame!!!

Gin & Tonic

Hassan & up North - You guys must have really good optometrists because I see Tate on the ground with hands on the ball before the DB even comes down. Again closer call than people are making it. IMHO.

Look, I'm not going to die on the hill for it; but, it was not a clear case of an obvious blown call that regualr refs make all the time.

Hassan

Gin i just rewatched it several times. If i could freeze it and send you the photo I would. Tate has one hand in the chest of the DB and once their feet hit the ground he puts take a hand off the ball and put it back, he clearly did not have possession
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsK1MnAvrPI

Gin & Tonic

Hassan - I hear you. Again, I don't have a dog in this fight so I'm not passionate about it one way or another. I'm just saying the play was a lot closer than people are making it seem and the rules of the NFL don't call for who had possesion first while in the air. It, to me, was a closer play than people are making it seem.

Again, I have seen the normal, professional, full time, (whatever else you want to call them)refs make calls that were worse than this one.

UMike

All I know is Tate is a PUNK! He actually think hes caught it..and when the reporter asks him if he pushed off he replies "I dont know what your talking about"..

Gin & Tonic

UMike - what do you expect from a Golden Domer? They are all punks in my book.

UpNorthCane27

Tate=Douchebag... tryna insult my intelligence saying he doesn' know what the reporter is talking about... Newsflash tate instant replay exists ahole!!

Hassan

Tate= LSOS

Yeah full time ref's do mess up a lot, that crew worked the Rams n Skins game and that game was also full of blown calls.

UMike

To me a lot of this is not the ref's fault...they are not used to this speed and the professional game..but some stuff is so obvious..the ref was looking right at them when he shoved Shields. I mean at least tell the reporter "i'm not sure, i felt a lot of bodies. I might of"...anything but "i dont know what your talking about" and he said in a way like he was upset she asked him...Gin, your right, I should expect it from a Golden Homer lol

herbieibis

You know who hates these replacement refs, the bookies. They can't control these guys like they do the real refs. Sam Shields gets shoved into another county and nothing is called & then Tate has one arm on the ball & TD. To many peanlties, probably because these players think they can get away with stuff while real refs aren't there and the fake dudes call everything. It serves the NFL right. The real game is the college game.

I am very confident that um can beat ncst.

Pass rush, yes bcc and gt arent your typical passing teams but they will have their chances against ncst qb and the d has been playing better. Reminds me of the 07 defense.

Morris should shy away from amerson all the way and utilize the Te ! We should be killing with cleaveland, dye and Walford... Im saying 36 canes 17 ncst. Chick,ej44 and bush are gonna be a factor !

solarcane

gin & tonic.
I feel you about letting down or getting snake bit after a big win.

Every time we win two in a row the wheels fall off. I think the last time we won 3 games in a row was like 09 when we beat Oklahoma, then two nobodies then just missed beating Clemson for four in a row.
That said I feel very good about our chances against NC St. I have a gut feeling we will be "flying around" like we haven't witnessed in a long time.

Jack

We got our tickets today for the game. Let us know were the canespacers will be tailgating. I would like tostop by and put a face to the names. Lets go Canes!!

Jack

Gin -

You hit the nail on th head! Recent history tells us the CANES will let us down Sat. However, I am a believer in Al Golden and believe we will win this game! We are making the three hour drive down, I don't want to come home pissed off and depressed " I hate that ride after a loss"

Did you watch the Tennessee vs nc state game? Amerson got torched and gave up 2 tds. Double moves kill him cuz he always bites on the first move and Tennessee had a field day.

UMike

IMO..if Morris can keep ALL his quick slant balls up and add a little more finesse on the deep ball, he will average over 300 yards a game. We have a o-line that blocks well and a stable of capable wr's to throw to.

UMike

"The league, which resumed meetings with its locked-out officials in an attempt to resolve the impasse, provided information stating that Lance Easley had four years of officiating experience, none above the Division III level.

That information comes after the league said that Seattle's last-second touchdown pass should not have been overturned but conceded that Seahawks receiver Golden Tate should have been called for offensive pass interference before the catch.

More than 70,000 voice mails were left at the league offices Monday night, an NFL source told ESPN's Seth Markman."

I wonder how many outraged voice mails women in distress got Monday?

LaQuinton

I watched Alot of tape on him. But 13 interceptions say he is a gambler (amerson) . the gameplan should be to go after him in the second hald. Im sure Hurns will be his assignment. Since that Tennessee game he has had 3 ints . Remember Jimmy Williams at vtech in 2005 ? Kyle Wright tested him and got picked off.

WWIN

If Duke Johnson was the 10th ranked rb in the country according to recruiting sites who are the 9 other rb's ahead of him???

Another reason not to pay attention to recruiting sites

Also, Jermaine Grace will be at the NC State game this weekend.

Everytime we play big on the road we come home and look like dogs. Have too, Have tooo, have a pass rush Saturday. Can't let Glennon sit back & drink Capt. Morgans all day. This will be the key. We have to hold them around 225 in the air. Still saying 31-27 for Goldies Goucho's.

Our main compition for Ricky town will be the California Golden bears, because Ricky grew up here right next to Berkely home of the Bears,
I believe it will come down to which program is in the best position to win an National championship. That's as long as Al golden is still at the U.
I keep telling Rick his Dad that Ricky would be the most telivised, most talked about, most loved, most hated, because other's love to hate the Canes. All this means ESPN would be forced to make Miami there main topic of the show. We could shut slober mouth Holt's up.
I have been a diehard Miami Hurricane fan for over 65 yrs and its all about the U.

orange 'n green in the vein

Harry, do you have any idea how Tedford's seat bubbling under him at Berkeley affect Ricky Town's interest in them or is it irrelevant to his location proximity interest in them?

I'm not sure what your point is. Then again, maybe I'm not thinking it through properly.

LaQuinton

Thank you for the Ricky town updates harry

solarcane

Hi BLH ,
I was just thinking out loud as sports fans we tend to get outraged and vocal on injustice in sports a tad overboard.
There are plenty of people getting abused a lot more seriously than pro football team owners. umike got my drift

HawaiiCane

Zakkee, we've got 14 tickets... as of now, only 10 are being used. Hit me up at mattthewlohr@hotmail.com. I'll find out price and what is still available.

Harry Miller

OGV, I know he likes Tedford. I know he wants to be a continder for a NC. I will talk to him and his dad about what he is thinking. By the time we get to Miami for the North Carolina game I will know more. I will stop by the Hampton or the tailgate party at the game, can't wait to meet everyone. I have been reading canespace for as long as it's been up.

BLH

Solarcane

I understand what you are saying and I appreciate your response.

I tend to compartmentalise these things and therefore find no equivalency. For me, they are in two completely different universes. The type of outrage I feel in the NFL situation is worlds apart from what I feel for the abused or for other real world problems.

Similarly, the outrage I might feel in a business situation is in another category as well. I love the canes. I love the other sports because its fun. So you can say that while sports outrage is real, it is substantially different than emotions that are rooted in real world problems.

Don't take this the wrong way because no disrespect is intended. Abuse, hunger, and other real world problems are not to be taken lightly. But since this is a canes and sports site, to me the outrage seems proportional and not overboard, keeping in mind it's "sports" outrage

I will qualify then by saying that I am deeply outraged at the bungling of the NFL situation, in a "sports" kind of way.

Cheers.

SOUP

Al Golden's hardened troops didn't give in and and they didn't give up.

These players, this team, would not quit on their coach or on each other.

Instead they played together as a team, like a team of fearless road warriors.

And when the game was over, the only smell in the air was not that of fear, but the wonderful smell of sweet, sweet victory.

Agreed. If the Canes can beat NC State, they will be in the Coastal Division drivers' seat with 5 games to go. Two ACC games are tough - one against FSU on the road and another at home against Va Tech (Va Tech also must play FSU). The remaining ACC games are also challenging - UNC, Virginia and Duke, all beatable as long as the Canes are focused.

I know this is a young team and most expect letdowns, but I think Al Golden has built a different kind of U-tough team. I have not seen this kind of team in Coral Gables in quite some time.

prediction - if the Canes win by two touchdowns on Saturday and they remain relatively healthy, the Canes will win the ACC Coastal Division.

BLH

I know this has been already discussed, but NC State is definitely a winnable game for us, but as mentioned, the fear is in this being a "trap" game.

Does the defense throw more blitzes at Glennon, more than we've been blitzing the first three games. Is that going to overexpose our pass coverage?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on defense, because I admit their passing game scares me a little.

PARDON THIS INTERRUPTION:

In its 30th annual breakdown of college baseball's top recruiting classes, Collegiate Baseball newspaper ranked the Miami Hurricanes' 2012 class as the ninth-best in the nation.

The Hurricanes' 13-member class, comprised of 11 true freshmen, one redshirt freshman and one junior, was rated third-best in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The rankings are based on players who enroll at school each fall. Players who initially signed with a school and then signed a professional contract after being drafted do not count in the overall evaluation.

Clemson (No. 5), North Carolina (No. 8), Florida State (No. 19), Georgia Tech (No. 28) and Virginia (No. 32) round out the ACC teams ranked in the top 40, according to Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Hey CEO, I'll take this one... with your kind permission.

Because the most successful forms of media today provide free content. "The Space" is governed by intelligent, discerning people. It's made through interesting discussion and perpetuated by rabid lunatic Cane fans.

I use the word "competitors" loosely here. There really is no competition. The Space's "competitors" charge for content based on rumors and hearsay. I believe the CEO said it best:

"We don't care about being first, we care about being right."

How boring is Tuesday night TV sports without the Penn State outrage, NFL injustice and so forth?
OK enough
