First play from scrimmage for BC was a 37 yard pass to the TE who was completely uncovered. Why? BC came out in an even 2 TE set. Then they switched the formation to stack the TEs on the strong side with the weakside TE taking the strongside TEs spot. It appears that Armbrister is the LB responsible for the outside LB as he is the strongside LB. Before the snap BC moves the strong WR to the weakside slot taking the corner w/ him and also making the safety take his first few steps to the weak side. Then the snap. Play action to the RB, pulling in the LBs. Armbrister covers the inside TE rather than the outside TE. The outside TE is Rettig's 1st read. The outside TE is WIDE OPEN w/ no one covering him. 37 yard gain. Chickillo was one on one with the RT and beat him pretty quick. But BC didnt need to block anyone because the first read was completely uncovered. BC tested Miami's ability to know their assignments on the first play from scrimmage. Miami proved they did not understand their assignments and BC challenged them like this for the rest of the game.

Is it just me or does everyone hate to see Louisville win? #cheaters

It also looks like on that opening play that Perryman is deadset on the RB. But he should be the guy w/ the inside TE. Buchanon is the LB w/ the RB responsibility and is the 1st to recognize play-action and that Rettig has an open TE. Buchanon actually bumps in to Perryman trying to get out there but its already WAY too late.

Some how even my ID was misused at the PBP...sad

The Dude

On the 2nd drive for BC Coach D rushed 4 DEs on the first series on 3rd and 8. He had Gabe Terry and Kelvin Cain on the outside and Shayon Green and Anthony Chickillo on the inside. Gabe Terry was completely pulverized by BC's RT. Kelvin Cain was stood straight up by BC's LT. BC's RG and C doubled Shayon Green and then the center moved over to Chickillo to double him. There was no pressure on Rettig. I think Miami has to bring more bodies to get pressure or at least to get Chickillo a man on man situation.

The Space is the place!! Got dat bwah UpNorth back! Where u @ Herbie??!!

Props to AP's Tim Reynolds. It's not often you read sportswriters giving credit to everyone who made a play work not just the guy who carried the ball.

Johnson's third college carry was one that Miami will remember for a while. He stumbled moments after taking the handoff from quarterback Stephen Morris, quickly picking up blocks from tight end Clive Walford and linemen Ereck Flowers and Jon Feliciano, among others, to get the play going.

Johnson made his way to the right side, where receiver Phillip Dorsett threw another block. Walford trailed the play and picked up his second key block in a matter of seconds, then Johnson got completely freed with a stiff-arm. Gone, 54 yards, Miami had the lead.

Wow what a story

Paralympic swimmer Achmat Hassiem uses special motivation to go fast: He imagines being chased by the great white shark that bit off his right leg.

The South African was attacked by a shark off the coast of Cape Town six years ago after he lured the great white away from his younger brother. Before then Hassiem had competed in various sports, including swimming, but wasn't sure what to do after losing his leg.

n 2006, Hassiem was the first to spot the shark when he and his brother Taariq were on a lifeguard exercise off a popular beach in Cape Town. He shouted to colleagues in a nearby boat to get Taariq out of the water, while Hassiem distracted the shark by slapping the water.

The shark then bit Hassiem's right leg and dragged him about 50 meters.

"I gave one last enormous push and heard a great snapping sound," Hassiem said of the moment he lost his leg.

As he was being pulled onto the boat by his brother, Hassiem said he looked back and saw the shark chewing on what must have been his foot.

He won bronze in the men's 100 meter fly at the Paralympics this year.

Our D will only settle in and get better, I think.
41-9 we out scored BC once our D settled in.

Check that he is on the practice squad.

Gunn is Saints Practice Squad.

Hey guise! Did you see how great that rotating QB system worked against Bowling Green!

Chase Ford makes Eagles Practice squad

Good for those procanes that keeps them in the league and in pro foobtall, gives them a chance to develop and make a career out of it.

Eudocimus

Anyone here know anything about 2012 K State? Returning players?

2011 was beatable.

orange 'n green in the vein

They return 8 players on offense, two new tackles and a guard this year on the line. Six returning starters on defense, new end and tackle, one new LB, new CB and FS. They moved Jesse Tuggle's kid in from QB this year to the LB corps, why he took that long to take up his old man's position, who knows?

4-Real

We should beat Va tech & ga tech

Da U N Houston

There's no way L Thomas makes it through the season running n getting smacked like this

orange 'n green in the vein

Two things about this Tech/Tech showdown;

1. I'm so glad UM basically eliminated these types of run first offensive schemes from the game by going to the 5-2 and upsetting Nebraska in '84.

2. Scarface looks like he's in great shape, or very sick. Not sure which.

Laquinton

Ogv,, please respect coach beamer.

Can't wait for Saturday. Hope mike James runs over #4

Sebastian the Ibis, the University of Miami’s famous mascot, is one of 16 spirited heroes vying to become the 2012 Capital One Mascot of the Year, announced Monday by Capital One. Sebastian is one of three ACC mascots in the competition, joining Testudo (Maryland) and Ms. Wuf (NC State).

Fans will be able to vote for their favorite mascots via Twitter. Regular season vote officially opens at 12 p.m. EDT on Mon., Sept. 3, and continues weekly through Mon., Nov. 26. The top eight mascots with the best head-to-head records will then compete in a bracket-style, single-elimination competition to determine the overall winner. Fans can vote at www.CapitalOneBowl.com, on Facebook and on Twitter. All voting information appears at www.CapitalOneBowl.com.

For the first time in its 11-year history, the competition will include two female mascots – Ms. Wuf and Wilma T. Wildcat from Arizona. The duo will be joined by four other competition newbies – Colorado State’s Cam the Ram, Missouri’s Truman the Tiger, Rutgers’ Scarlet Knight and Texas Tech’s Red Raider.

The rest of the 16-member 2012 Capital One All-America Mascot Team includes Cosmo (BYU), Sparty (Michigan State), Mike the Tiger (LSU), Wolfie Jr. (Nevada), YoUDee (Delaware), Bucky Badger (Wisconsin), The Duck (Oregon) and Cocky (South Carolina).

The Dude...good game tape analysis. Thanks for the play-by-play on the defensive mistakes. Though they were many in this game I am confident that they will be MUCH fewer in the next game against K-State.

Hassan...thanks for the ProCanes updates. The future did look bleak for a few of those guys but making any team's practice squad is good news at this point.

Brandon Jenkins done for the year at F$U? I know Mario Edwards is supposed to be all world but he's right out of high school and likely is going to hit the wall in the second half of the year sometime with a heavy workload.

Agreed.

Nice to see GATech playing some press defense. Amazing how effective it is not to have 3 guys off the screen when it's zoomed 30 yards out.

CGNC

UpNorth - glad you had a good time

I am watching this Ga Tech v. Va Tech game, and I am feeling pretty good about the Canes chances to win the Coastal Division.

raizecane

Spacers....we can't assume we will beat VT or GT based on how thet are playing tonight.....shssssss. Otherwise, after giving up 400+ yards in passing, everyone playing us will think they can do the same thing. Be reasonable.....

V Tech uniforms make them resemble roaches.

Who was it that tried to tell people you never know who the team will be win u face them? Fsu Brandon Jenkins out for the season

WWIN

Deon Bush deserves to be a starter over Rodgers.

We'll see how VT does this week, he was constantly out of position against BC, this is the last straw for him. At this point, Golden should just try out the combo of Rashawn and Deon, both nasty hard hitters, that'll be fun to watch!

Disagree, rogers had the most tackles Saturday. Bush needs to replace VT
