• In the first quarter, Duke Johnson returned a kickoff 95 yards for Miami’s first score of the game. The return ties Tremain Mack (at Syracuse, 1996) for the eighth –longest kickoff return in Hurricanes history. This was Miami’s third kickoff returned for a touchdown since 2005. In 2005 against Temple, Devin Hester had a 100-yard kickoff return and Lamar Miller notched an 88-yard kickoff return at Ohio State, Sept. 11, 2010.
• True freshman RB Duke Johnson became the first Cane since Leonard Hankerson (Oct. 2, 2010, Clemson) to score at least three touchdowns in a game. Johnson scored in three ways – a 95-yard kickoff return in the first quarter, a 1-yard run in the second quarter, a 28-yard rush in the fourth and a 50-yard reception in the third quarter. He is the 10th FBS player since the start of the 2006 season to have a receiving, rushing and return TD in the same game. He is also the second to complete the trifecta this season, joining Giovani Bernard (UNC).
• Johnson is the first Miami player to score four TDs in a game since Tyrone Moss did in 2005 against North Carolina. Entering Week 3, only four players in the NCAA had recorded four TDs in a game in 2012. Johnson is now averaging 14.5 yards per play.
• Johnson has 638 all-purpose yards through three games, which makes him on pace for 2,552 yards in 12 games. The single-season all-purpose mark at Miami is 2,102 by Willis McGahee.
• RSr. DL Darius Smith notched the second sack of his career, a three-yard loss, in the first quarter.
• In the second quarter, Fr. DLTyriq McCord collected his first-career sack, a three-yard loss for the Wildcats. He added a second sack in the fourth quarter, a 12-yard setback to end the game.
• With his 20-yard field goal, RSr. Jake Wieclaw remains perfect this season, hitting all five of his attempts. Wieclaw is on the 2012 Lou Groza Watch List.
• So. WR Phillip Dorsett collected 49 receiving yards, passing his previous career-high of 41 yards at USF in 2011.
• Brandon McGee had a pair of pass break ups against B-CU, nearly doubling his career-total of three.
• Shayon Green has posted back-to-back 8-tackle games, his career high.
• Dallas Crawford’s first-career interception came off a failed B-CU fake punt.

The ACC just doesn't have the coaching the SEC has. Hopefully Golden has something to say about that...

86 - I'm letting the weeds grow all week in preparation for saturday.....
Posted by: Account Deleted | September 16, 2012 at 05:28 PM
I wasn't being sarcastic willie although it may have read that way. I was surprised about the validity of your comments seeing how the SEC is the most praised conference in CFB and to think that the ACC is supplying the league with better playmakers was surprising to me as I read it. Its true but its not supposed to be. Just saying it was a good post, thats all.
Posted by: Zakkee | September 16, 2012 at 05:29 PM
Willie...got the email and responded with specific directions on what to do.
Hassan...got the photo (NICE) and sent U a response too.
Longtime...FEAR NOT THE YELLOW JACKETS! Pull the weeds now, we got this. GT will run up and down the field but UM has a great game plan to win this specific game.

I know you wasn't being sarcastic. I was just saying thanks for confirming my thoughts that I wasn't the only one that can see that the ACC has more play makers

Rumor from another site:
Havent seen anyone comment on how little Tracy Howard played yesterday. Antonio Crawford played significantly more than Howard. Howard played a few series, but was a backup yesterday. Why? The "why" is the problem on our defense and I have seen and heard it all last year and so far this year. With all the commentary on D'onofrio's coaching I have not made one comment, because I nor anyone else really know if it is his scheme or lack of talent. What I can comment is that the real problem is D'Onofrio is a jerk and the players don't like him or respond to him. He routinely tells them f*** you, calls them punks, tells them they suck, calls them clueless and he is mean spirited when he says it. Not to mention he blames the kids for everything, he never takes ownership for anything.
Its hard to believe D'Onofrio worked on Greg Schiano's staff because he is the anti Schiano. Schiano is/was a tough coach but he always treated the kids with respect and believe it or not rarely cursed at them. He would occasionally curse, but never directed at a kid. Schiano empowered kids and never stopped teaching and encouraging. D'Onofrio is condescending, disrespectful and just a jerk.
So what does this have to do with Tracy? He was in the doghouse yesterday. Why? Because he had enough of being treated like a dog this week in practice and talked to D'Onofrio the same way D'Onofrio talked to him and it landed him in the doghouse.
These isn't about scheme. It's not about coaches being tough because they should be. This is about respect and earning the kid's trust, Al talks about this all the time. D'Onofrio needs to change or go. These kids are tuning him out. You can only treat them badly and blame them for every mental error for so long before they all say f*** you. If the MEs are so frequent, perhaps the teaching isnt effective, perhaps you, Coach D'Onofrio, aren't putting the kids in positions where they can be successful. Take some ownership and treat the kids they way you would want to be treated. D'onofrio is the adult, he needs to act like an adult. If he doesn't change this could blow up.

But if U try to post the "wurd on da SK___ " it will be blocked.
Howard played a LOT yesterday we were watching him in his backpedal.
Posted by: 86Cane | September 16, 2012 at 08:15 PM
soup anything on the sidelines that would indicate friction, I know ocala watches everything
Posted by: solarcane | September 16, 2012 at 08:16 PM
I have NOT heard anything about Howard being unhappy or his relationship with D'No.
I'll check with the SOURCE to get the 411 but this sounds like the TYPICAL Internet BS.
Posted by: 86Cane | September 16, 2012 at 08:17 PM
Solar...no not a thing about anything like that.
We watched Duke after he hurt his shoulder and was being treated by UM medical staff (yeah nobody mentions that).
We watched the team during warmups, on the sideline during the opening kickoff, during the game and we saw nothing.
Ocala may want to chime in with anything he saw different but I saw NOTHING like what is being mentioned.
Posted by: 86Cane | September 16, 2012 at 08:20 PM
I'm with you soup I think its just someone blowing up something pretty minor
