Sure, we've seen your type around here before and we know you roll.
U claim to be a long-time, hard-core, die-hard Miami Hurricanes fan.
U say that it's all about "The U" and that U bleed orange and green.
U blog all day every day about your beloved Hurricanes football team.
U can name every player from all five of UM's National Championship teams.
U have owned season tickets forever and attend every Miami home game.
But the real question that you have to ask yourself is can you be like blogger UpNorthCane and proudly take your game and your significant other on the road and venture deep into enemy territory and come away victorious?
Do you have the courage and the cojones to show up at the other team's Stadium holding a large poster-board with "The U" on it and the names of several Canespace bloggers all around it? Well do U?
It should be obvious now to everyone that UpNorthCane sure does!
Can you be like blogger UpNorthCane and boldly walk out of an opposing team's stadium after a huge ACC road win with your head and arms held high while completely unafraid and unabashedly chanting out loud:
"It's great, to be, a Miami Hurricane...It's great, to be, a Miami Hurricane!"
Well if you have blogged at Canespace for a few years then you already know the answer to that question: Yes we can! We have been to just about every single ACC opponent's stadium over the last six years.
Personally, I have been to Doak Campbell Stadium (FSU), Kenan Stadium (UNC), Memorial Stadium in Death Valley (Clemson) and Carter-Finley Stadium (NCST) to witness UM away games.
Most recently Canespace blogger UpNorthCane traveled to Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, MA to catch the season opener between Miami and Boston College and brought home the big win. He represented the blog quite well (thank U very much!) and made us all proud.
So if you have a chance to be a "real fan" like UpNorthCane and go to an away game in hostile enemy territory then we STRONGLY encourage you to do so to support your Miami Hurricanes.
Now, the only question is: Who's got next?
Thank you 86 amazing article and an honor man, to represnt canespace and the blog....

It totally reeks of awesomeness. On the radio broadcast on WVUM Saturday they were talking about how well represented UM was in the endzone, so you and your fellow Hurricanes definitely made your presence felt in Chapel Hill UpNorth. Now to keep the Hurricane's streak of always winning a national championship this millennium when they get a win on the road in Alumni Stadium . . .

The reporters were asking D'No all the wrong questions. I would HATE to be on defense this week. My guess is they have never had their butts chewed so hard. I just hope the guys got the point. D'No seemed embarassed in his interview. My guess is they bounce back for KST.

Alot of K States skill guys are really small, like 5'7 and 5'8. Klein is an average passer with really good wheels. Klein only throws about 21 times per game but last week he threw 28 time and completed 19 passes. They struggled against an inferior opponent and turned it on late. I cant see what it is that Missouri St did to give them trouble because I cant find any game tape, but it sounds like from Goldens interview the Miami staff is already on it. Hopefully we have the blueprint and the personel.

D'No saying that Miami went on a 40-9 run or whatever he said is really deflecting a lot of blame he deservse and taking alot of credit for things he had no hand in, such as a Rettig fumbled snap and a WR dropping a sure TD. Also that jump ball on Finnie, the OC for BC got him, he had 6'4" WR on 5'10" Finnie.

The Dude, I thought Rettig got in on that fourth down sneak play personally. Of course, I thought he was in on third down too and was shocked they quick snapped instead of waiting for the review to take a look upstairs, but that's why Spaziani is on the warm seat I figure.

Thanks for putting me on the banner, I really appreciate it, I feel honored lol. Nice new pic also, I have to get my lil girl some canes gear

I figured it out! I have the perfect strategy for D'Nos defense the rest of the year! Okay, its 3rd and 8, and D'No can eiter (A) blitz Ramon Buchanon, AGAIN (B) rush 4 AGAIN, or... (C) have his guys take a 5 yard penelty and try to entice the offense to run on 3rd down. Huh? Oh yeah! :)

K-State's coach on Miami’s Duke Johnson…
“He’s a tremendously talented little player. He has tremendous speed, which is what most people would identify him as someone who runs extremely fast. I think he is a very talented running back in regards to having good vision and being able to know where the holes open up. He has good movement, so he can move laterally as well as straight ahead. He has good quickness to go along with his speed, and I think that he is perhaps probably growing as a receiver as well. They utilize him a lot of different ways, so that tells me he can do a lot of different things.”

K-State's coach on how Boston College did against Miami…
“I think as much as anything, the first ballgame can be complex because you do not know what you are going to see, and normally you see what you did not expect to see. That was a conference game for both of those teams, so there was a lot of preparation. My guess is that Boston College presented a variety of different schemes that Miami perhaps did not expect. Boston College is a big movement team, lot of shifting, and motion that created some problems that caused some missed assignments by Miami. I think is probably what manifested all of that. Boston College got off to a quick start with two immediate touchdowns, but then there was a period of time, and I think Al (Golden) was quoted as saying that they went from play 14 to play 50 something, so about 46 plays in which Boston College did not score after they got off to that fast start. It was getting acclimated to what they were doing, but still 441 yards is a lot of yards. So you could say that Boston College is probably pretty good at throwing the ball as well.”

Senior Linebacker Arthur Brown
On the defensive performance against Missouri State…
“There were times throughout the game where it was a little iffy and skeptical, but once we got going, we really filled some of the holes that actually needed to be filled.”
On playing Miami in Manhattan…
“It is going to be different, but our approach as a team is the same. We are definitely going to identify where it is we need to improve from last game and make those proper steps in order to do so. Our approach to the game is selfish – it is not different than last year.”
On the biggest improvement needed from last week…
“We need to be more consistent and start as well as we finish. Getting out to a great start is going to impact this game a lot.”
Posted by: 86Cane | September 04, 2012 at 10:24 PM
Ugh. I dispise Arthur brown. This game they should focus on Klein. Just like that post about Jimmy johnsons innovating 4-3 defense they should make Klein beat them in the air. I believe coach d is playing zone 75% of the game cause ge doesnt trust his corners 1 on 1
Posted by: Laquinton | September 04, 2012 at 10:35 PM
Miami's blitz was much more effective from the 2ndary rather than the LBs. Im curious to see if Klein sees alot of pressure from the DBs.

Disappointed HawaiiCane didn't make the banner... but, I'll be at Soldier Field when we face the Irish on Oct. 6th. Only problem is the last 3 away games I went to were losses (Florida, Florida State & Ohio State).

Check out these two quotes. One is obviously a chess player and one is not.
Fisch's strategy:
"We went into that game against Boston College saying the best way to attack them was pushing the tempo and felt as if that was going to be something against that team and that defense. Coming off playing them the last game the year before you kind of have to show them some other wrinkles," Fisch said. "We'll continue each week to determine the best way to move the football and how we're going to do it. Whether it be running the ball. Whether it be stretching the field or hurrying up. That's what we'll go out and execute on game day."

“They kind of ran a lot of the things they ran last year, lots of zone,” Amidon said. “You could see the holes in the zone — and [offensive coordinator Doug] Martin did a good job scheming it up. They had a lot of holes early so [we] took advantage of that.”

D'NoFense quote:
“The first [two] series of the game, the coordinator we played against, he made a decision to go well away from what he’s ever done. We played him five times when we were at Temple. The last two times we played them we won 48-14 and 48-13, something like that. He made a decision to go well away from that, put a whole new package in that he probably hadn’t done before based on the familiarity that we had with him. So that took a couple of series to sort through. We went on a 41-9 run after that.”

So one coordinator went into the game recognizing his opponent would look at last year's game and develop a scheme to beat him and he showed something different. The other coordinator went into the game and expected his opponent to do exactly the same thing he had done in the past, when he was at another school nonetheless, even though it had been completely unsuccessful against him. As a result, the opponent does something different, jumps out to a two touchdown lead, which damn near jeopardized the game given the Canes serious youth on offense. Why wouldn't the second coordinator try to show something different as well?

Good point on not waiting for a booth review on the completion to Evans. I think maybe w/ time winding down they hurried their decision. Also I was very suprised the refs said Rettig didnt get in.

My last loss was the very last game in the Orange Bowl. What a POS game that was. That was when the TE exposed us and it hasn't stopped since.....

I stand corrected....the Champs Bowl from a few years ago was also a loss. But hey, the tailgating was one of the best and I have video to prove it.
Which is a good thing cause I don't recall too much.

I also would just like to point out that Doug Martin's career record in the MAC as a head coach . . . 29-53, best year was 6-6 and the only year his offense approached acceptable season numbers with a roster of players he recruited was in 2008 when they averaged 25.7 points a game, exactly 400 yards of offense and they hung 41 points in a three point win at home in a year they went 4-8.
At least he yells a lot at practice though, from what I understand.
