Sure, we've seen your type around here before and we know you roll.
U claim to be a long-time, hard-core, die-hard Miami Hurricanes fan.
U say that it's all about "The U" and that U bleed orange and green.
U blog all day every day about your beloved Hurricanes football team.
U can name every player from all five of UM's National Championship teams.
U have owned season tickets forever and attend every Miami home game.
But the real question that you have to ask yourself is can you be like blogger UpNorthCane and proudly take your game and your significant other on the road and venture deep into enemy territory and come away victorious?
Do you have the courage and the cojones to show up at the other team's Stadium holding a large poster-board with "The U" on it and the names of several Canespace bloggers all around it? Well do U?
It should be obvious now to everyone that UpNorthCane sure does!
Can you be like blogger UpNorthCane and boldly walk out of an opposing team's stadium after a huge ACC road win with your head and arms held high while completely unafraid and unabashedly chanting out loud:
"It's great, to be, a Miami Hurricane...It's great, to be, a Miami Hurricane!"
Well if you have blogged at Canespace for a few years then you already know the answer to that question: Yes we can! We have been to just about every single ACC opponent's stadium over the last six years.
Personally, I have been to Doak Campbell Stadium (FSU), Kenan Stadium (UNC), Memorial Stadium in Death Valley (Clemson) and Carter-Finley Stadium (NCST) to witness UM away games.
Most recently Canespace blogger UpNorthCane traveled to Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, MA to catch the season opener between Miami and Boston College and brought home the big win. He represented the blog quite well (thank U very much!) and made us all proud.
So if you have a chance to be a "real fan" like UpNorthCane and go to an away game in hostile enemy territory then we STRONGLY encourage you to do so to support your Miami Hurricanes.
Now, the only question is: Who's got next?
UpNorthCane good stuff...great game. I think UM fans were much louder than the BC fans.
Nice Banner... you deserve The Canespace LEGION ... Honor, Courage, Commitment...

Per Yahoo! sports...
Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday that the NFLPA is looking into the Drew Rosenhaus-Rubin relationship after widespread player losses. Rosenhaus denied wrongdoing. Rubin declined comment.
[Exclusive: Drew Rosenhaus scrutinized for relationship with financial adviser]
Owens just knows he’s 38, perhaps headed toward bankruptcy and one of the reasons his approximately $80 million in NFL earnings has all but vanished is because bad deals and poor oversight from an agent-financial adviser team.
Or put it this way: how could Owens, late in his career, wind up throwing a couple of his last million dollars at a risky, rural Alabama bingo parlor project?
Then again, how could 34 other athletes, 18 of them Drew Rosenhaus’ clients, get roped in for what bankruptcy filings indicate could be a combined $43.6 million?

Nonsense. Looks like you're parroting what you read in wikipedia.
From 2006-10, Martin's offense at Kent State averaged 422.6 yards and 26.3 points per game. The team recorded a remarkable 16,907 yards of total offense during that span.
Came to Boston College after serving as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for one season (2011) at New Mexico State. There, he helped lead the Aggies to an average 398 yards of total offense per game and 273 passing yards per game; ranked 25th among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams in passing offense.

Clearly, our D needs a major do over. BC's OC however, has a history of putting up lots of yards to his credit.

What's up spacers, been to the poor man's South Beach, vacating (N. Myrtle Beach).
Just a few belated comments on the game.
Missed most of the first quarter but from what I can see, Duke is the bomb. Dude sees a hole and it's like a rat after some cheese.
The front 4 on dee got little pressure on the QB, as usual, so this led to a ton of passing yds.
At least 10 times I saw completions w/ nobody within in 10 yds of the WR or RB. Somebody was taking a serious siesta.
Tackling looked good and it was good we got some T.O's. TE's are missing in action, I guess by design.
Did not like the playing calling after we got the fumble near the goal line. That was just messed up. Jedd got to pass happy and then an obvious run on 2ND down went no where.
Agree with some comments we need to be more aggressive on defense. If we are going to cough half a thou every game playing swiss cheese defense, we might as well play agressive and give up the same.
I made a comment sometime back about our DT's and unfortunately, it's probably going to be this way for awhile until either one of those dough boys sees the light going off or we can get some real talent at the position. It doesn't matter who we have in the secondary, if they have to chase someone for 7 to 10 seconds, while the QB is eating a sandwhich and drinking a beer before he has to throw.
Yes it was a win and I'm praying we get to 6 vics, quickly. I do not want to see this team to half to take another bowl ban next year. We should be loaded.

True story: UpNorth told me that during one play he heard the BC QB shout out to the sideline for a ham and swiss on rye and a cold Bud light.
He was gonna order a bowl of chowda on the next play but thought he might get it all over his jersey so he declined.

D('No?), the quote he was giving regarded Doug Martin's time as a head coach in the MAC first of all, second of all, Doug Martin as a head coach in the MAC only averaged better offensive production in the first two years of his tenure there, in other words, with Deen Pees' players doing most of the upperclassmen heavy lifting. The only decent year the guy had as a coach in the MAC, he went .500 while they averaged a whole 17.8 points a game, the only year he had a team of his recruits that they averaged 22 or more points was when D'No gave up the 2nd highest point total to them all year long while they went 4-8. I'll fully grant you NMSU saw an increase in offensive numbers one year under Martin last season, but they also returned 9 starters including the QB which would probably have helped any other one year OC accomplish the same.
Doug Martin is not some offensive genius by any stretch of the imagination, unless the guy charged with stopping his offense lived with Golden in the dorms in college, then he's the 2nd coming of Art Briles.

We face former Cane Arthur Brown this week, I expect him to play well and be one of the first LB's in the draft next year, here is some other former Canes Season Debut's last week.
QB Robert Marve, Purdue -- Marve, who was granted his sixth year of eligibility, passed for a career-high 295 yards and three touchdowns with an interception while completing 30 of 38 passes in a 48-6 win over Eastern Michigan. Marve played at Miami 2007-08.
RB Storm Johnson, UCF -- Johnson rushed for 34 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in his UCF debut in a 56-14 win over Akron. Johnson played at Miami in 2010.
LB Travis Williams, Youngstown State -- Williams had two tackles in Division I-AA Youngstown State’s 31-17 upset over Pittsburgh. Williams played at Miami in 2010.
Posted by: Hassan | September 05, 2012 at 01:37 PM
frkin Brown has played lights out since he left here so what was the problem? Randy used to get asked about him every week and always come up with a lame excuse. I would like to have him now, but since he's not here I hope we kick his azz
Posted by: tjl3909 | September 05, 2012 at 01:48 PM
tjl...RS played favorites..and if you were in his doghouse, forget it, you weren't seeing the field...whoever watched Brown in the spring games knew he should have been playing LOTS more..other examples are Streeter, Marve etc

RECRUITING UPDATE:
Sophomore quarterback Ricky Town looked cool as a cucumber in only his second varsity start. The transfer from West Hills Chaminade completed 16 of 23 passes for 340 yards with three touchdowns and ran for another score as the host Seraphs, ranked No. 9 in the Southland by The Times, spoiled Centennial's season opener for the second consecutive year.
"The offensive line did a great job giving me time to throw and all around our receivers are great, so I just try to get it to them," said Town, who was 10 of 11 for 175 yards and four touchdowns in the Seraphs' 48-0 season-opening win at Los Angeles Garfield last week.
"The goal was to keep the football in our hands and with our pro-style offense we'll take five yards every time."

I do not think that was the issue with A. Brown imo..and maybe Marve..I think they both knew no matter what as long as RS was there, they were not going to see the field.

LAST 14 YEAR MATCHUPS
All week long, KSU HC Snyder harped on his team about starting fast (last year only beat FCS EKU 10-7 in opener) but the Wildcats found themselves up only 9-6 at halftime vs Missouri St. One of the reasons it was close was the fact they rarely blitzed on D and ran a vanilla offense (QB Klein only 13 rushes). KSU did break free in the 2H in the 51-9 win but the yards were close 493-418. UM is clearly in rebuilding mode in the 2nd year under Golden with just 10 returning starters. Last week, despite being outgained 542-415 and down 14-0 early, they beat Boston College 41-32 on the road snapping a 2 game losing streak to BC. Frosh RB Johnson broke 2 long td runs averaging 19.3 ypc and QB Morris was efficient with 207 yards (62%)! Last year Kansas pulled the upset on the road! Collin Klein threw for 132 yards and ran for 93 and RB Hubert rushed for 166. KSU led 17-3 at half and 21-10 late in the 3Q. UM battled back and down 28-24, QB Harris was stopped on 4&gl at the 1.5 yard line with :49 left. This week Sndyer joked, “that he’s going to tell his team that he wants a very slow start to see what happens.” KSU will put forth a much better effort TW.

1. Phil Steele took BC by 10 last week.
2. This week Kansas ST 31, Miami 17.
Shows even the SMART ones can get it wrong too once in a while. the problem wiuth SMART guys like Steele is that they use stats and computers and odds and forget to factor is what is REALLY happening in Coral Gables:
A COMPLETE MAKEOVER OF THE TEAM AND A TOTAL ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT AND CULTURE CHANGE.
Steele is a GREEN (thinker). He see's things as a logical, linear, mathematic equation that points to the winner in black and white terms.
Steele is not a BLUE (feeler.) He does not factor in emotion, confidence, committment and other human factors because he assumes those things are irrelvant or non-factors in winning and losing.
He is wrong. The equation for winning and losing is a combination of both, maybe 70/30 or 60/40. It is how an Appalacian St beat a Michigan or how just about every week there are HUGE upsets.
If you look at this UM from the outside and "just the cold, hard facts" of course you would pick UM to lose.
But this Coach, this Hurricane team and "we" all know better...

Posted by: 86Cane | September 05, 2012 at 03:09 PM
86, I'd say you're pretty much right on the analytical based approach Steele applies, he's looking for value against the spread to make money, emotion doesn't provide value in that kind of game theory. But he does factor some of that into his analysis to a point, it's why he's got the line about KSU pulling the upset on the road last year with an exclamation point punctuating it after all.
By comparison;
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/features/writers/expert/picks
Clean sweep for KSU here too. Feldman however does have some emotion as indicated here;
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/bruce-feldman/20049085/top-10-list-the-loudest-stadiums-ive-ever-been-in
Would a "green" type list a torn down stadium as his second loudest to play in? I doubt it.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | September 05, 2012 at 03:13 PM
OGV...the CBS writers ALL agreed on ALL of the games (minus two very minor differences). We will see!
I still have the Canes pulling it off (by three) with a three point shot at the buzzer.

Not sure if you guys can see the link didnt want to copy and paste.. I clearly hope those glaring holes on d get fixed in 2 days because Klein killed um last year. And the Approach on offense should be to keep them guessing and off balance as much as possible.
Posted by: Laquinton | September 05, 2012 at 03:34 PM
It's easy to pick us as losers, since we coughed up over half a thousand yds on defense, to a less than stellar BC team, however, this particualr team is eerily similar to the 1999 or 98 team that coughed up 6o sumthing pts to the Cuse and beat UCLA to halt their undefeated season. This season should be a wild ride, alot of ebb and flows. I too can't see us winning this weekend but it should be entertaining, 31-21. Our talent on offense is scary but our dee front is scary too. If the trend continues defensively, our CBs will know exactly how Custer felt.
Posted by: herbieibis | September 05, 2012 at 03:37 PM
Q, just a snippet, summary of the contents?
herbie, now you're talking about my football teams as an underclassmen and you've gone too far with that comparison. Team is more like the '09 version so far to me. Obviously the sample size is too small to really know what's going to happen the rest of the way with any certainty. Ask a BC fan how good their team is, they'll tell you they suck and Spaz needed to be fired last year before they upset UM in the finale.

So going into the second half coach Snyder let him do his thing.. Which is running more and when he stepped off the field their redshirt freshman qb is a beast
