I just say stack and blitz all game long and hope our secondary can cover.. I guarantee you that the offense will not make so many plays when the qb is under pressure and the rb is having to make cuts..I know our D is young and a little small but there is no excuses for being this bad...I mean it really does make me sick to watch even when we are winning.

CoCane

Experience won't stop the scheme from sucking azz. Inexperience is the only explanation available other than admitting 10 yard cushions & engaging the o-line, instead of blowing by them don't work. What else can they say? Lol

Check South Florida's defenses size...but even more interesting...check their experience level. Its a typo error but they are as young as we are.

When you watch them, they get pressure and push up front.

Thanks Will

Right mi@mi, I never thought I'd see teams consistently get around the edge on Us.

WWIN

Zakkee,

WELL DONE sir, no pun intended lol

mi@mic@ne

Anybody who has watched us play d can see that our d line does not consistently work hard with a motor on pass rush. Our d line most of the time is non existent except when we have 5 down and playing acc teams.
Our outside pursuit is inconsistent. We do not do a very good job of closing off the field before the runner gets the corner.
We almost never line up like the old bears d with 7 or 8 guys on the line of scrimmage.
Our d ends seem to play more on the line of scrimmage than get in the back field. Us Cane fans are used to seeing very active d ends getting in the back field.. especially on the pass rush.
Over all we do not attack the line of scrimmage and force their backs to the sidelines.

At restaurants I support the waiters/waitresses, If the cook is sending out bad food then I know who's responsible. I'm a paying customer so if I ask for a well-done steak, thats what I should receive. At least it should be medium or medium well. But the steak we are receiving is raw with the blood oozing.

I'm sending it back--which is a form of expressing my opinion or lack of satisfaction. If another diner orders the same, receives the bloody steak, decides to eat it, or not to say anything (put his or her napkin over the food, smile and say, "everything's grrrreat!" then thats their prerogative. But they can't lean over and tell me I should do the same lol!

I could stop going to a restaurant, but I cannot stop loving and supporting the product the Miami Hurricanes is providing me, so whats the options? There's only one: voice my opinion or displeasure with the developers of the product. We are getting Grade A or B meats (we average 4 and 3 star recruits annually), so who is cooking? (Excuse the analogy)

Why is it considered better. more profitable, ideal, and logical to SEEM/appear, than it is to BE?

MIAMI (AP) — A section of a parking garage under construction at a community college collapsed Wednesday, killing one worker and trapping two others in the rubble, officials said. One of the workers was rescued, but there was too much debris around the other to immediately get him out.

At least 10 other workers were hurt when the roof of the five-story concrete garage fell, creating a pancake-style collapse on the campus of Miami-Dade College, officials said.

"It was a floor upon floor, collapsing all the way down to the ground floor," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Capt. Louie Fernandez said.

The trapped worker was getting oxygen and being treated by a physician, but officials did not describe the extent of his injuries. Fernandez said the rescue would be a "long, tedious effort."

Dogs, firefighters and other people in hard hats walked over piles of concrete, plywood and metal rubble to look for other possible victims, but there was no indication anyone was missing.

Victoria Buczynski of Miami said she saw the collapse while she was working at Gurkha Cigars across the street from the construction site at the Miami-Dade College.

"It fell to the ground like a house of cards," Buczynski said. "The construction workers started running out, screaming. It was loud. Our entire building shook."

No students were in the area at the time. They campus was evacuated after the collapse and closed for the rest of the week. Investigators planned to pick through the rubble to see what caused the garage to crumble.

"We just know that the roof collapsed," Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Griselle Marino said.

William P. Byrne, president and chief executive officer of the garage contractor, Ajax Building Corp., said an internal review was being launched to determine the cause. Byrne said the company would embrace "any additional protocols, policies and procedures that will enhance and ensure the continued priority of safety."

Marino said three people were initially trapped in the rubble, including the man who died. Another eight were taken to a hospital, she said. Two injured workers were treated on the scene.

One of the rescued was pulled out from under a steal beam by four firefighters. His face and hands were bloody and he was put on a stretcher and carried away, according to a video shot by Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue and provided to The Associated Press.

The construction site looked like a typical one. A large crane stood beside the pile of rubble. Pickup trucks, trash bins and a tractor-trailer were nearby, as were ladders, a cooler and piles of wood.

Ground was broken on the $22.5 million project in February, and the 1,855-space garage was to be finished in December, according Ajax's website.

The first floor was to have classroom and office space. The structure is next to the college's main office building and nestled among other campus buildings.

The college serves about 8,000 students and is one of several campuses in the Miami-Dade College system. This campus opened in 2006.

The identity of the worker who died was not immediately released.

Zakkee, be quiet and blindly support the boys. ;) Seriously, that tactic makes me roll my eyes too whenever it's employed, also the attend games or be quite and blindly support the boys rebuttal is up there as well.

This blog article brings me joy. I watched the KHL ESPN broadcast yesterday I am that steamed at the lockout that no one else cares about.

I'm pretty sure I saw a pair of fans on the sideline at that atrocity of a UM game last week that refute the coach's point that they aren't as devoted to perfecting their craft as his buddy, Edge and Portis are just two examples that shoot holes in that flim flam soundbite.

I'm going to post this;

http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/45749/paul-johnson-had-his-good-reasons

Read the article but read the quote at the end first before you do if you want to see why this program is royally screwed on the football field. With that, I'm flouncing for the week, 86, I'll be in Plantation Friday night, give me a call when you get there and we'll catch up with each other so I can get blind drunk before the scoreboard gets broken by the team in powder blue. At least this team isn't eligible to play for the ACC title out of the Coastal, silver linings!

Even Golden is publicly commenting on D'Onofrio now.

"Golden: “Any frustration that he has on his part… because there’s no fan out there that can match his intensity or his dedication in trying to get his trade right. The last two years the same guy had two Top-20 defenses in terms of scoring defense. So, as angry as everybody is, they’re not watching it, they’re not living it everyday like he is.

“As I say to him and the whole defensive staff, we’re moving the team forward. Just keep moving it forward. As I said to you guys before, it’s not like we’re hiding a bunch of fourth and fifth-year seniors on the scout-team field. Where are they? There are no fifth-year seniors, there are no fourth-year seniors – only a couple – and there are very few juniors."

As much as it truly pains me to watch the D have to cry "UNCLE" most weeks this season, I don't care about statistics.

Well, the only one to me that does mean a da&% thing is the final score/whether it was a win or a loss.

Contrary to Zakee's post, if there is any stat that may matter some it is points against. You don't win a game for having the most or least passing yards.

As I have posted before, if AG is willing to believe in his process the way it is going this season, I will give him the benefit of the doubt as he knows better than anyone that it is his job that is on the line.

Yes, everything that I have seen to date on the play of the D has me believing otherwise, but he's the capt'n of the ship and you know rest of the phrase,.

If Manny, Big House and the others really want to get the pulse of the team on its thoughts on the D, they need to ask Barrow, Fisch and the other assistants.

Obviously, GT chose to go the other direction and cut ties with its DC, Groh. AG is going his way I respect him for it and will be cheering for him, but the results will speak for themselves.

A better explanation of the reason he believes in D'No is due the fans IMO. To me, his rationale sounds the same as a politician saying that, "I am working tirelessly for the American people."

AG is well aware that it will take far more than that to win games in big time CFB. He should then be able to explain the very reasons he believes THEIR SYSTEM will do indeed just that - starting with UNC.

billb

Hockey? Wow! Maybe we've found a sport where we can finally win something.

LB

Overall, D'Onofrio may have a good defense. But in big games vs. strong opposition? Take a look...

Temple, counting non-MAC BCS opponents (I did not factor in UConn).

(2006):
L, Clemson, 63-9.
L, Penn State, 47-0.

2007:
L, Penn State, 31-0.

2008:
L, Penn State, 45-3.

2009:
L, Penn State, 31-6.
L, UCLA, 30-21.

2010:
L, Penn State, 21-13.

UM (Counting non-ACC BCS schools, and ACC contenders)

2011:
W, Ohio State, 24-6.
L, Kansas State, 28-24.
L, Virginia Tech, 38-35.
W, North Carolina, 30-24.
W, Georgia Tech, 24-7.
L, FSU, 23-19.

2012:
L, Kansas State, 52-13.
W, Georgia Tech, 42-36.
L, Notre Dame, 41-6.

The result?

D'Onofrio didn't win a big game until he got to UM. Granted, he worked at Temple and he came close in 2010. However, the best his defense could do in such big games was 21 points. The average? 38.3. Not good.

At UM, the average score in big games is 28.3. If you discount the two below (and you very well may), it's 34.6.

Ohio State was arguably his best performance (24-6), but it could also be stated that it was against a 7 loss team and not the traditional powerhouse (and currently undefeated) OSU we know.

He does, however, deserve a lot of credit for Georgia Tech. 24-7 is a good score against that offense. Yes it was a 5 loss team, but it was also a team that knocked off the #5 team in the country at the time (Clemson).

But what does that tell us? D'Onofrio's defenses traditionally do well against inferior opponents. They also do well against option teams. But in big games? The stats speak for themselves.

On the plus side, this is an injury-prone defense riddled with freshmen and sophomores. D'Onofrio had nowhere near the talent there as he does here. D'Onofrio's defenses also seem to improve over time, as evidenced by his time at Temple.

But how much time is it going to take, and how much is too much? Furthermore and most importantly, what's his ceiling? When is it enough?

For the life of me, I can't remember a Miami Hurricane defense ranked 103rd. Can someone help me out?

Zakkee

1) Establish the run, which = a successful play-action passing game.

2) Contain Gionni Paul

Canes win 31-17

No one can check Phillip Dorsett in college football and definitely not in the ACC. Just catch the ball...which he will.

The return of Raphael Kirby, Denzel Perryman, and the development/recent experience of Gionni Paul and Eddie Johnson is good enough to slow the ACC rushing attacks the rest of the way. Our negative defensive numbers will go down the rest of the way. Kirby is the real deal!

I like Golden but he has the rest of this season to me (not that my opinion counts towards any decision in the least). With just average/adequate coaching--we shouldn't lose more than two of our remaining games. Since he and No'D are a package deal and have (up until this point) refused to adjust, then die by the sword. We don't owe him anything, but to judge him by the teams results.

Anyone else notice a pattern of disrespect for the fans from the last few coaching staffs? Shannon said some crazy ish about not caring about Us (what we think) and now No'D says the same. Now ask yourself if these sentiments would've been expressed if their employer (check writers) didn't accept, agree, or even promote these same sentiments. How does a NEW COACH think he can say some ish like that at a NEW JOB??? Thats like getting a new job and going on vacation the same week. These sentiments must be allowed, accepted, and/or cultivated by their higher ups. Who would be this brazen and reckless without precedent (twice)?

As fans we have a responsibility to uphold and promote classic Hurricane culture. Falling in love with men and their personalities is not a part of that responsibility. And man crushes definitely aren't--I don't care how great your hair is, how hot ya broad is, how tight your tie is, how jovial ya brow is, or how many syllables ya words give. The Miami Hurricane play a certain way...period. And its all out warfare style until 00.00 on the clock.

I've spent $2500-$3000 traveling to support and see this team play 4 times in the last 3 seasons. That's equivalent to how many sets of season tickets now? So I don't want to here the blindly support the boys speech as a rebuttal. There was no one at those team buses with partial refunds after that blowout last weekend. Dude couldn't even bring himself to look Us in the face yo.

Stop coaching our team like you're attempting to moderately estimate the quarterly fiscal returns on the initial investment portfolio projections. This aint Wall Street its a game called football...now coach it please..it aint that hard if every poster knows the adjustments we need to make.

“When I came to the University of Miami, I had one single conversation. Edgerrin James was standing on the sideline. He said, ‘Are you coming to UM?’ I said, ‘Are you leaving?’ He said, ‘It shouldn’t matter whether I leave or stay. You should come here because you want competition.’ James Jackson, Najeh Davenport, Edgerrin James were all on the roster when I signed with the University of Miami. I didn’t know he was leaving. I was coming here for that sole purpose to compete and get the best out of me. Other schools say, ‘Hey, you’re going to be the man and we are going to give it to you.’ I don’t want anything given to me. Nothing had been given to me to that point. I know anything given to me is not worth having. I want to work for it. Then I can be appreciative. I can look back and I don’t owe anybody anything. If I owe somebody, its coach Don Soldinger for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play at the University of Miami. And coach Butch Davis, those are the people that I owe. Other than that, nobody gave me a hand out. I had to get down here and hustle and grind and bust my butt to be who I am today.”

LB

And hey! We don't have to listen to Joe Rose defend Randy Shannon after he lost to N.C. State. That in itself is a gift from God.

LB

"Shoulda worn orange. Woulda won."

Ha! Love that orange.

To add some historical perspective for this season:

2004: 5-3 (3rd)
2005: 6-2 (2nd, Coastal)
2006: 4-5 (4th, Coastal)
2007: 2-6 (5th, Coastal)
2008: 4-4 (4th, Coastal)
2009: 5-3 (3rd, Coastal)
2010: 5-3 (2nd, Coastal)
2011: 3-5 (4th, Coastal)

The above, kiddies, is UM's record in ACC play. It also contains where we finished in respect to the Coastal division (since its inception in 2005).

We have never finished higher than 2nd and never played for an ACC title. Our average place in the Coastal is 3.43, putting us below Virginia Tech (1.29) and Georgia Tech (2.29) and above North Carolina, Virginia (4.14), and Duke. Those are not good numbers.

After half of a season, UM stands at 3-0 in conference play. Given our current status and defensive liability, that's a huge accomplishment.

We also have 5 conference games remaining against teams with major deficiencies. Our remaining schedule looks very, very good.

Our toughest conference games:
1. Florida State. Our archrival who should be still seething after removing themselves from the title picture. They also lost to N.C. State.

2. North Carolina. Stout offensively, and statistically a good defense. However, these great defensive performances? Elon (0), East Carolina (6), and Idaho (0.).

T3. Virginia Tech. It's been a while since we've taken the Hokies. They've also lost to two Big East schools, one of which is Pittsburgh.

T3. Duke. The big unknown. They've never scored lower than 34 points a game. Their wins have also been against Wake, Virginia, Memphis, N.C. Central, and FIU. We'll see how good they are starting this weekend, as they play all conference opponents and the meat of their schedule.

4. Virginia. This is probably the worst of our remaining opponents, and quite frankly... we're due. Since joining the ACC, we're 3-4 vs. the Cavaliers. That should tell you the absolute mess Golden was left to clean up. We've also lost the last two. Good news! UVA's defense is just as bad as ours, and we'll have 9 days to prepare for them.

You guys can't tell me that we can't win two of those games. And honestly, that may be enough. The ACC is flat out horrible, and even worse than it previously was.

North Carolina is it, kids. Our big division opponent. The game to put us ahead of the pack or start biting the fingernails. We beat them and Duke loses (they play Va. Tech), and suddenly we're the only remaining unbeaten in the Coastal at 4-0 with a couple of 2-1's behind us.

Life, ladies and gents, could be a whole lot worse... and can very easily get a whole lot better.

Honestly I feel the Canes/Dolphins need to tarp off 15,000 seats at Sun Life which would bring the capacity down to roughly 60,000 put a canopy/roof over majority of stadium except the field of play and get some support from Miami-Dade and Fort Lauderdale/Broward in the funding best case scenario for all parties involved. Go Canes, beat UNC.
