pbcfrcane13

Hey were winning at something!

BigWindyCane1

Thats because we all were buying into the treding up of Shannons team, 5-7, 7-6, 9-4, and than BOOM!!! AH!!

Now lets see if we can trust in the Golden progression

Posted by: pbcfrcane13 | October 25, 2012 at 06:01 PM

We may learn more about Golden's progress sooner rather than later. The last four games of the season, beginning with Virginia Tech, could speed up that trajectory. The Canes should go 3-1 or 4-0 (which is very doable), and that will be a strong finish to a rocky season.

The Virginia Tech game may be the most important game of Golden's tenure if he can win. A loss would put the Canes back into the ACC pack and would not tell us much about which direction the program is headed.

A win, however, will create incredible momentum and probably decide the winner of the Coastal Division. It could thrust the Canes toward a place in the ACC Championship geme in Golden's second year, something Shannon and Coker failed to do.

An ACC Championship game would create more buzz around the program, attract more recruits and give the current underclassmen more confidence heading into next year.

I think Golden and his staff can do it.

Unfortunately, it's all part of the process. And right now we have a football team with the solidity of processed cheese.

CANES BEAT NOLES!

She did it again.

Almost a year after advancing the Hurricanes into the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a game-winning overtime goal, sophomore forward Ashley Flinn connected in the 89th minute to send Miami past No. 1 Florida State and into the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship.

Her confident finish in the game's final stages, which came on a perfect through ball played by Tara Schwitter, clinched the Hurricanes' first Championship berth since 2008. Miami (9-6-3, 4-4-2 ACC), which could only advance to the eight-team tournament with a win over the first-ranked Seminoles (15-2-0, 8-2-0 ACC), used Flinn's third goal of the year to earn their first win over Florida State since joining the ACC in 2004.

"The kids were fabulous," head coach Tom Anagnost said. "They executed it exactly as they're supposed to. The effort was extraordinary. I'm as proud as I have been since I've been here."

Lou of M

yeeeeaa!!! we have smart players in the class but they sure look lost on the football field. We need to start cracking the all-ACC and ALL-American teams.

For the Nov. 1 home game against ACC Coastal Division rival Virginia Tech, the University of Miami Athletic Department is offering its latest fan ticket special, The Joe Rose Special. Fans can purchase two lower-level tickets and an orange parking pass for $80.

UpNorthCane27

Great to hear the news pbc my wife is also going through nursing also she has about a year left and then she can take her rn board..... When that day comes i will retire lolll

Ohio_Cane

Last I checked, Robinson and Cain have each had at least three seasons to prove they deserve a starting job here. They didn't do it with the previous staff. And they obviously haven't done it now against a bunch of freshmen and sophomore.

Golden is a hater? Give me a break.

Preach, Mandingo, preach!!

86Cane

pbcfr...congrats to you and your wife!

All I can say if that IF the Canes don't beat VT this Thursday there are gonna be several people around here that are going to need some serious medical attention.

And by "serious" I mean life threatening. LOL

pbcfrcane13

LOL well set up a tent at our tailgate for the ones who need the help!

Acutally I may need the help myself if we lose!

Great article by Manny. Spot on!

Et Tu, S J M PARMAN

Is this really S J M P A R M A N posting in Manny's blog?

If I were a parent of a talented high school player, and I read what happened to Cain, I would advise my kid not to go to UM. There is some type of agenda going on at UM that has nothing to do with football talent. You also have to remember, all of our would be seniors bolted early after being with this coaching staff for a year, and they left alot of money on the table by doing so. Maybe they know alot more than we do about Al Golden and Co methods and the way they treat players.

Finally, Al Golden is a freaking 8-10 against Division 1 talent at Miami. That is pathetic.

86Cane

Parman has completely and officially lost it. I kinda feel sorry for the guy.

86Cane

Remember RB Kevin Grooms that Miami recruited and signed but he could not qualify academically? He went to Marshall and is currently their leading rusher with 444 yards and a 6.6 ypc average.

86Cane

Remember QB Jeffrey Goodfrey that Miami was recruiting but never signed? He went to UCF where he started 12 games last year as their #1 QB. However, this year he moved to WR and is no longer a QB in college.

86Cane

Remember all world and super fast WR/DB Jeremy Davis from Ft. Myers who is former Hurricane Phillip Buchanon's half brother? He could not qualify at UM and went to Milford Prep for 2 years and wound up at UCF this year. He has not played this season (no stats).

I LIKES!!!!

orange 'n green in the vein

SJM got done with the honeymoon regarding this staff when they got crushed again on national TV and showed absolutely no improvement opting instead for reversion in many areas of the team. I understand why he's frustrated but you haven't seen anything yet if UM allows a completely average to below average Chokie squad to rag-doll it around like they're some kind of standard to look up to. This coaching staff is 0-for rivalry games this year, so if you consider this team a rival, which I gather a lot of you do, it's time to win or else face the consequences. Please, no posting, "why's everyone pissed," if they lose too, you drop games to rivals in college football, fans get pissed, it's basic college football cause and effect.

86Cane

FROM THE NCAA WEB SITE:

“Our academic reforms continue to bear fruit,” said NCAA President Mark Emmert. “We are not satisfied, but we are proud that we have reached another milestone, as now seven of every 10 student-athletes in our highest-profile sports are earning their degrees.”

Emmert noted that only 1.3 percent of men’s basketball student-athletes and 1.6 percent of football student-athletes go on to careers in professional athletics.

Men’s basketball and football traditionally have posted the lowest graduation rates among all sports. But in the 11 years since GSR data have been collected, men’s basketball is up 18 points – and is 21 points higher for African-American males in the sport. FBS football is up 7 points, and African-Americans in football have seen their GSR climb 9 percentage points.

WWIN

Pb,

Sweet deal, my wife is trying to do the same. I can't wait till she makes it to the league. We gon be rich B*t*h lol

AND WHITE STUDENT ATHLETES??JUST SAYING THO

pbcfrcane13

Upnorth and Willie good luck to them! The hard part is over

now fr her to get a job! lol.

86Cane

Zilla...just reporting the facts exactly as presented by the NCAA. I have to admit when I read it the first time it did feel a tad awkward though.

orange 'n green in the vein

Are these numbers adjusted to discount the Tar Heel athlete degrees, you know the ones where you don't ever show up to a class that only exits on paper in the mind of a crooked professor stealing tax payer dollars for a pension, plagiarize 11 year old kids to post on a blog and still get that paper?

WWIN

Pb,

Thanks. Also, does playing your freshmen and sophomores on NCAA 13 boost their ratings or help them in anyway??

Canezitis

That's because it hasn't been as big of an issue with white student athletes. Sad, but true

86Cane

"Emmert noted that ONLY 1.3 percent of men’s basketball student-athletes and 1.6 percent of football student-athletes go on to careers in professional athletics."

BETTER HAVE A PLAN B!

Canezitis

Ya think. These gets get so focused on sports and don't think about plan be. I did and my senior year in high school we lost all of our games. Can ya guess how many scouts come to see qb who can't muster his team to one win? Took me years to figure out what to do and finally get my career on track. Ya, they all better have a plan and it better start in high school.

Jack

Parman -

Do you like the Canes?
