As a department, Miami’s 93 percent GSR ranks fourth among ACC schools and is eighth overall among FBS schools. Overall, the University of Miami athletic department has improved from 77 to 93 percent from 2005 to 2012, a year after UM student-athletes posted a then-record 89 percent GSR in 2011. UM
has exceeded the NCAA average GSR in each of the last eight years.
“Congratulations to our Hurricane Family,” Associate AD for Academic Services David Wyman said.
“I am so proud of the performance and development of our student-athletes as they have become national leaders in collegiate academic success with these remarkable results. Their excellence is due to the tremendous support they receive from our President and Provost and their administration, our outstanding faculty and our academic services and coaching staff."
Six UM teams compiled GSR marks of 100 percent; men’s diving and golf posted its eighth consecutive perfect GSR mark, while women’s tennis recorded its fifth straight GSR score of 100 percent. Also adding perfect GSR scorers were women’s rowing, women’s golf, women’s swimming and volleyball.
Volleyball posted a perfect score for the second consecutive year, while both rowing and women’s swimming set program-record highs for GSR.
“To set a school-best GSR in each of the last two years is a major accomplishment for our program,” Interim Director of Athletics Blake James said.
Football jumped six points from 88 to 94 in 2012, tying for the highest GSR score among ACC schools and third-highest GSR score among FBS schools and improving by 27 points (67 to 94) from 2010. Baseball had the largest jump of any UM program, improving by 20 points (60 to 80).
“It shows the dedication of our student-athletes academically and the commitment to academic excellence from our coaches and our academic support staff,” James said. “To be among the nation’s best in GSR is a crowning achievement and we look forward to maintaining our position as one of the truly special academic and athletic intercollegiate programs.”
The NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) was developed in response to college and university presidents who wanted graduation data that more accurately reflect the mobility among college students today. Both rates improve on the federally mandated graduation rate by including students who were omitted from the federal calculation.
The GSR measures graduation rates at Division I institutions and includes students transferring into the institutions. The GSR also allows institutions to subtract student-athletes who leave their institutions prior to graduation as long as they would have been academically eligible to compete had they remained.
The most recent Graduation Success Rates are based on the four-year entering freshmen classes in Division I from 2001-02 through 2004-05. This year's report marks the ninth year that GSR data has been collected by the NCAA.
I would like to see a little more of Clements running the rock.

So if Miami takes a ban of the ACCCG, does that mean the Coastal runner-up gets the nod?

LOL at trying to win Thursday to wrap it up, Golden has notoriously collapsed late in the year in the division as a coach so even if by some miracle they play well at home Thursday night enough to win, he's still not out of the woods by a long shot. Try not giving up 425+ yards first before you start getting ready for your closeup Al.

CANES ROLL PAST VIRGINIA TECH
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Avenging an earlier season loss, No. 24 Miami volleyball took down Virginia Tech in three sets on Friday at the Knight Sports Complex. With the sweep, the Canes have now won their last 15 at home and 26 of the last 27 dating back to last season.

Hassan. I think I've read the sources of this (all seem to have run with papa cane's tweets). Not buying it. Not saying there's no truth that the NOI is coming in Nov, or that we might self-impose again, but the rationale given for why we would do it doesn't make sense. And the ACC pushing us to self impose? Why would they do that, to make sure Duke plays FSU in the title game? Or yet another Va Tech-FSU yawner? That game gets zero ratings points if we're not in it this year, the Coastal sucks and our name is the only thing that will get anyone to tune in. Yes, I get that everyone wants this in the past, but this looks like 5% logic, plus a ton of speculation.

Why is the cart being put before the horse here?
Try stopping somebody above FCS level first before you start talking about winning even a shat division like the ACC Coast-all. The way Al has this team playing right now not even GT is out of this division race and UM is damn lucky that Duke didn't handle the first 15 minutes of lead in their game against the chicken chokers very well this year.

When the GSR becomes part of the scoreboard let me know so I can jump from joy. For those who think we can win out, remember there is a difference between believing and hoping. I hope we win, but I believe what happened yesterday is happening now and the same will happen tomorrow. Yes, inconsistent play, bad defense, poor coaching, etc. We have done nothing to change this, so if you expect a different result while you do the same thing over and over, you are literally insane. DS I hope you are reading this. Looks like you don't give a dime for our football program. Time to redistribute the billion $$$$ you just got. The program needs better coaches and a thing with grass in it where you play football...some people call it a Stadium.

Looks like RLIII had a helluva game:
Where do I begin?
Our opponnents where much bigger & more physical then us. Being honest they kicked our butts all over the field. Here comes the excuses. Our freshman X injured his knee on Wed, diving for a ball in 7on7. That left us with 21. Second play of the game our TB & the second leading rusher in the state of Fl injured his knee. He was done for the night. He also plays DE & was our only DL over 200 lbs. That left us with 20, really 18 players & 2 kickers(homecoming queen & terrible 1). This didn't look very good for us.
We took the openning drive, drove 80 yds & scored. Missed the PAT, 6-0 us. First series we stop them, get the ball back. Our first 2 plays get blown up in the backfield. It felt like they were in our backfield before the snap. My eye in the sky can't see a damn thing, problems with no height & bad angles. I see a hole in there coverage we connect for a 67 yd strike, miss the PAT. Homecoming Queen having a rough time. She was falling away from her kicks, could have been the 250 lb DL running at her. Still 12-0 feeling pretty good.
Their third drive they decide to start playing smash mouth. It was a good call since they were bigger & more physical. Our kids hanging tough but getting beaten up. They drive the length of the field, our UM commit shows why & picks off a pass returning it 83 for a td. Homecoming Queen kicks PAT. 19-0 but not feeling so good. they take the ball on their next drive & cram it down our throats. We call the play for their 2 pt try doesn't matter. 19-8.
Half 19-8, & I realize I can't play the Brazilian at X anymore he's just lost. Ok, I go to a 5'1" 108 freshman. I don't know who he is going to scare, but he at least can line up right. At half time we look triage for a MASH unit. I say all the right things, with feeling & conviction, but I really know what the deal is.
They take their first drive & again smash the ball down our throats. We couldn't have stopped them with baseball bats. 135 lb NG against 255 C, & our kid is trying with everything he has. They score, no contest on the deuce. 19-16. I know we need 1 drive, but I don't have a play to call. Our UM commit takes things into his hands & returns the KO 67 yds to the 10. I call trap hoping to get inside their beasts, he does. Queen kicks the Pat. 26-16. 8 minutes to go in the 3rd. I know the truth it's not enough.
Next drive for them is a hot knife through butter, oh I should mention if they anyone who could catch we would have been toast much earlier. They score again no contest on the deuce 26-24. We still have a whole qtr play & I am out of options & ideas. We get the ball & its an all feast in our backfield. On 3rd & 16, I go empty & throw a fade to UM, he goes up between 2 defenders makes a stella catch we gain 18. We run trap for 6, Zone for 3, QB sneak. I don't know how but we are moving the ball. I run the other freshman he squeeks out 3, zone for 2 more, I try the fade again, 5'1" freshman wide open as everyone is covering UM, wind takes ball *(&%$ hurricane. We turn it over on downs on their 14, 8 minutes to go in the game.
This time our players fight & claw, they are still kicking our butts just slowly. 7 minutes & 10 seconds later they have 4th & goal from the 2. Somehow someway our kids find a way to make the stop. We take 2 knees on the 1, yes I was having canaries, but we held on.
Final 26-24 us, we are now 8-0 & district champs.
