If you are traveling to sunny South Florida for a University of Miami football game this year then we highly recommend that you stay at the designated Canespace hotel for these events: The Hampton Inn in the beautiful, upscale and centrally located city of Plantation, Florida.
This award-winning, luxury hotel is situated in an ideal location for college (and professional) football fans and can be found just West of University Drive and just a few blocks North of I-595.
The Hampton Inn is located near numerous restaurants and popular sports bars, is within walking distance of the Broward Mall (for those who like to shop) and is only 20 minutes from Sun Life Stadium via the Florida Turnpike.
Hurricane fans come from near and far and literally take over the hotel lobby and patio before and after UM home games. Rival fans can also be found there for some good-natured trash talking as well.
There are always opportunities for car pooling to the game with other Hurricane for tailgating parties, purchasing tickets and snatching up one of the prized Canespace T-shirts.
Canespace usually throws a "Party On The Patio" after every home game with food, beverages and prizes for UM trivia contests. With a lush, tropical setting and a large pool and jacuzzi, the Hampton Inn patio is THE place to celebrate each Hurricane victory in 2011!
The special "Canespace Rate" is $89 and is valid for all Hurricane fans and also available for any visiting team fans.
For reservations please contact the hotel front desk or speak to: Susan Stern, Director of Sales, Hampton Inn - Plantation: 954-382-4500

From previous blog, if U don't mind...
Awesome story from my Alma Mater...
"In one of the most unselfish acts I can ever recall in high school sports, last Friday in St. Clairsville's game at Edison High School, No. 10 Michael Ferns (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Michael-Ferns-137345) took off on a 52 yard run and intentionally ran out of bounds at the 1 yard line. Logan Thompson, No. 17, took it from there...Thompson, who had lost his father, Paul on Wednesday of last week, was then handed the ball and ran through a giant hole to score in his father's memory. This pic was shot after Logan's TD run behind the St. C. bench. Please excuse the lack of complete clarity, but I think I might have been a little shaky... Thanks, Michael and Logan for sharing the moment and for teaching what it means to be a Teammate!~ God's Speed, Paul Thompson!~"
Pic of the moment here:

Me so tired.

OHIO...I got total cooperation from the UM hockey team to be in line for an article for next Monday.
Now if I can manage to get some sleep between now and next Monday I'll be in good shape. But that is unlikely to happen.

From what Susan/Manny is tweeting today looks like AG has got the cliche machine going (and I like the guy). No'd has the most intensity or we'll start manning up. Any chance he'll give No'D the "vote of confidence"? At least then we'll know the end is near......
This sort of thing worries me. I don't hear any solutions or adjustments, just slogans.
If we're going to fix the worst D in Div 1 will we see something else come Saturday? A new D scheme perhaps?

No. You need the Al Golden translator on your monitor, so when you see quotes that read, "get it right," it'll show you what he's really saying; We're not going to force them to get off the field, we're going to let them shoot themselves in the foot before they convert seven first downs and punch it in for a score.
That's the plan. That's what a team of 40 seniors and juniors in the two deep on that side of the ball will try to do if he can ever get there. Al Golden is killing Hurricane football as you knew it, enjoy PSU from the 60's to 2011 instead, if you can of course.

Saw on tos Rob Lockhart will play this week. Ironically the kid finally gets it now that the season is almost over. In other words.... Blown redshirt :(
Posted by: 4-Real | October 09, 2012 at 07:08 PM
Robert Lockhart will make his college debut this week, the 20th freshman to play in '12
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | October 09, 2012 at 12:59 PM
Is it me or does it seem like we waste our players freshman year??? Half the season is over I guarantee he won't be in more than 5-6 plays on Saturday. Why waste the opportunity to red shirt him if he's not going to make a difference anyways??

If we see more of the same with tha D, the hate will slowly start shifting towards Al. Fair or not

Yay Hurricanes hockey!
Posted by: CGNC | October 09, 2012 at 07:27 PM
Al deserves the hate just as much as no d sinister, due 2 the fact that he's in total control & can override / takeover if his coaches ain't producing.
Posted by: 4-Real | October 09, 2012 at 07:33 PM
Just last week al golden said he didn't want to hear about any freshman excuses but when it come to defending No D, the freshman excuse is raini g from the sky

I think it is safe to say that process has already begun. Its only a matter of how much as time goes on.

Good points, if there isn't improvement AG will become the issue instead of No'D.
These next 3 games are really the season for us.
Win at least 1 and we can still get to 7 wins. Not bad considering the D we've got.
Win 2 or more and AG will be the hero of south beach.
Lose all 3, esp if it's badly, and AG will be worrying about his own future not just No'D's......
It's the fun of college football, every week is a playoff, and every game matters.
We'll know come November what's ahead for 2013......

Master of the double speak.
Look, I don't even care about the freshman 'excuse' (I'd classify it as an explanation myself, just like I did when Walton was getting nuked under Shannon) because I always say this game is basically about having the best recruiting class five, four and three years ago but there's no coherency in a guy who says they aren't going to use this as an excuse and then won't STFU about it while he fields the historically worst modern defensive team in Miami history.
I know these guys are going to be better in a few years than they are now as underclassmen but there's no point in them getting better two years from now and still conceding six yards a pass at a 60% plus completion clip because your system isn't designed to disrupt an offense. It's horrible game-day coaching and there's really only two ways to get to one solution, new philosophy for the old coach or a new coach with a different philosophy.

OGV...enough already. U are getting totally obnoxious and EVERYBODY gets your point. Especially after the 1,000,000 time.
Let it go and move on to your next point.

I like Al Golden and so does Clinton Portis! I think Portis knows a little more about football than most.
Let's go Canes!!

Hurricane football as we "knew it" died a long time ago. U, I & many others thought Randy would be the man to resurrect it (although Solarcane had his doubts). Too bad that was an epic fail of 4 years. AG may not be able to do it either; maybe no one can. Has anyone considered that from 1920 something to 1979 UM football wasn't a national power....and that perhaps the 1983-2002 period was a historical anomaly? Maybe we're simply reverting back to historical norm?
Yeah....I won't think that way either! It's BS. I know The U can rise again. I'm just hoping its not going to take 20 years! IMO the looming NCAA sanctions are 10x more of an issue than our current D. We get screwed there & the D will be the least of our problems.

Golden sucks. D'Nofrio sucks. AD sucks. All the freshman and sophomores suck. Sun life stadium sucks. Shalala sucks.
Now that THAT'S outta the way...
Can we all just agree to say "GO CANES, TAR THE HEELS!!!"??
