Isn't that nice. I'd rather they be taking suppositories for pain relief because swallowing pills won't work fast enough.

How are they going to keep the pig parts and sugar down looking at the hurl inducing uniform scheme they're going to be wearing?

OGV...great job with the Short List as ALWAYS.

Jiggafras

ND showed not one ounce of respect for Michigan's passing game. They had 8 or 9 around the LOS almost all the time. I hope they use a similar strategy against us....some how i doubt it lol.

UMike

Someone posted a pic on Twitter of Soldier Field and you see around the field it was all "Fighting Irish", I wonder if it was only half the field.

Jack

Hot dogs and soda in the fourth?? I don't think so Lou!! This team will show up, I believe they are turning the corner. UM may even pull this off, this is the upset I want!

I think our offense keeps us in it but is slowed. There offense does just enough.

ND 31-24

but if it is close in the 4th .....

MassivCane

This is definitely a 4th quarter game. Which team do you think will last the longest? Who is conditioned better. This game will prove beyond any others what UTough stands for!

NO QUALIFIERS!

Either we win or we lose, no maybes, ifs, buts, ors or ands.

86Cane

I do not have a feel for this game...YET.

By kickoff time I will. Either that OR I will feel nothing from the adult beverages and then it will be a toss up. LOL

mi@mic@ne

I was watching their game against Michigan... i think our offense is faster than their d. We should be able to toast their secondary.

mi@mic@ne

Ive been impressed with the hitting on our defense. Thats a huge difference from the last 10 years. Im not as concerned for how much yardage we give up as how physical we play against ND. We got to smash them in the mouth. I hate those fruit cake helmets.

mi@mic@ne

I hope our players know the history of our being cheated by the catholic refs and their bragging about how they are better than us ...like some kind of special favoritism they have or something... make um crawl to confession next week...lol

Screw this...its my 30th birthday today! Miami has to win tomorrow..we yave the weapons and we can only get better on defense..the cold weather worries me a little but I think the conditioning of this team is enough to overcome it as long as they overcome the cold mentally. Notre dame is over rated...lets crush these fools!!!!!!! Now give me that damn kool aid!!!!!!

mi@mic@ne

Its my birthday tomorrow...dont let me down...i hope we get up for them...the cold will not matter when those endorphins kick in....this is one of those top ten games...lets get losing out of our blood.

SJMPARMAN

Wow this is kind of a sullen group before what could be the biggest stepping stone to bringing us back. I sense fear and doom among some members of the legion tonight.

I smell fear of the Irish and their talented 95th ranked total offense, their 84th ranked rushing offense and their 85th ranked passing offense. Ewww they are so scarey because they will be putting on their uniforms in Chicago instead of South Bend. Boys, the heart and soul of our defense is back and I say he is everything that T'eo is for them. I ain't afraid of the freaking Irish offense and none of you should be either.

We have an offense full of studs. A great offensive line. How many other teams in the country could afford not to play a guy like Seantrell every down. We have so many great players on that line. They may limit our interior running game a little but I don't think they will shut this offense down and I don't believe they can score with us.

I expect a win tomorrow night, maybe even a blow out. But it won't be a blow out by Notre Dame. It will be a blow out by us. Miami 38 - Notre Dame 21.

SJMPARMAN

And it is my birthday Monday, so there, the game is in the bag. Happy Birthday guys!

CaneRock

AWESOME! avatar miamicane.

mi@mic@ne

Its a happy week end for Cane fans... lets have something to party about along with our birthdays sjm and panama... they look like a disciplined defense but i suspect a little slower than we see in the acc... we need to spread them out and hit those lanes

UMike

Watching the miramar - st thomas game.....hope we do get jermaine grace...and I think we do

SJMPARMAN

I don't care how disciplined you are. No defense is designed to cover fifty yards down field in the passing game. But that is how far Morris can accurately sling it. And if they do drop way back then it will open up alot of other things. Slants, deep middle under the safety, sweeps by Duke can go for big yards.

They should absolutely fear a team that goes back to back over 600 yards. About this time tomorrow we are going to finally see that we are back in the coversation of good times. We won't be all the way back until Al decides he is tired of being average on defense. That may not come this year. But I do not expect a bad defensive performance tomorrow. The ND offense just isn't that good this year.

hassan

God i hate ND fans. I am at thier team hotel throwing up the U lol

BOLD? Love it!

SJMPARMAN

I am serious. College football is not about schemes as much as it is about matchups. ND does not have 11 NFL players on defense, they have maybe three. I count about 10 guys on Miami's offense that will play in the NFL one day. Stephen
Morris, Duke, Dorsett, Davon Johnson, the entire offensive line and a reserve or two, Mike James, and Hurns.

On defense, I see Chickillo getting there, Eddie Johnson, Perryman, Bush, McGee, and Howard. In the kicking game, Botts is an NFL capable punter. If they weren't capable already enough at the positions they play, both Duke and Dorsett would make it in the NFL on special teams ability alone.

We ain't exactly coming into this game with the cupboard bare. Players this talented needed the K State drubbing to remember what it takes to be a winner. Lesson learned. The will to win I saw the past two weeks really was special. Notre Dame has no idea what is about to smack them in the mouth.

I also think the Big Ten is very, very weak this year. Purdue is a so so team. I was never a fan of Marve even when he played for us. Michigan State is going through growing pains trying to replace a great college quarterback in Cousins. I am in the DC area and I can tell you that Cousins actually outplayed RG III in the preseason. He is a great player. It is hard to replace him. Good teams have figured out how to beat Denard Robinson of Michigan, especially when they play him every year. The kid is a gamer but he is not an NFL quarterback. And Navy, though not in the Big Ten, right now is a disaster. Their coach will be gone after this year.

None of the teams Notre Dame has played has threatened the outside of the defense, or taken the ball down field. They haven't had to defend the edge because the opponents didn't have a guy who could zing the back on a 7 yard out. And they haven't had to defend down field because the Notre Dame riush usually has overwhelmed the offensive line.

That is not going to happen tommorrow. Miami's offensive line will give Stephen enough time to throw. I feel strongly about that. This game will come down to Stephen and the passing game and his ability to win it on his arm. And he has demonstrated for two games in a row that he is hot quarterback and a force to be reckoned with. Bold? Hell yeah. He just set the records for both excellence in not only the ACC but in the Miami record book. I am going ALL IN. Everyone on the blog should be doing the same thing.

When you have watched Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Vinnie Testeverde, Craig Erickson, Steve Walsh, Ken Dorsey, and your current quarterback not only breaks the passing record in a game but freaking shatters it, you better, as a fan, go ALL IN and believe he can get this thing done.

If ND did was strong in either the running or passing games, I wouldn't be so bold. But statistically, they are marginally better in the stats than our defense. Yes, they have played some good defenses. But if they had superstars, it would have showed by now. They have good players, some very good, on offense but no superstar. It may be bold but I damn well like our chances.

If they blow us out, I will join OGV in eating crow. But, I just think, as a fan anyway, there is overwhelming evidence to support a break out game by the Canes tommorrow. The Irish DO NOT SCARE ME. A good explosive offensive will beat a plodding along defense every time. If I am wrong, so be it. But I think there is a smell of something in the air, it comes from the midwest, and it is sweet smelling down south. It is an UPSET. As Zgacki is want to say MIAMI WINS, MIAMI WINS, MIAMI WIN.

WWIN

SJM,

Don't forget Paul and kirby to the league. I might also add mccord, Pierre, Jenkins, Crawford, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Da Plug in.

Tsully76

Great stuff SJM and Willie Will.

SJMPARMAN

Acouple of more points and I will quit. Touchdown Jesus is a great player but he can't score a point from 100 yards away. And do not underestimate how many Canes fans live in Chicago. There will be a sizeable contingent of Fans rooting for us. No it won't match ND fans but it will be enough for the team to hear it when it does good unlike if this game was played in South Bend. I think that definitely helped in Atlanta.

Second, Fisch is an NFL offensive coordinator. He didn't leave Seattle because he wasn't wanted. He left because he WANTED to be here. If you believe coaches in the NFL are hired based upon merit, and I do, that makes him one of the best 31 offensive minds in all of football. Look at the commitment the man made to us.

He moved, geographically, almost as far as you can move from one place to another. He made the train wreck that was Jacory Harris a good quarterback until the end of the year when Jacory stopped listening to him. Now he has an NFL quarterback to coach. I totally believe in him. I haven't felt that way about any offensive coach since Bratkowski during the Erickson era and Gary Stephens before that. He knows what he is doing. Don't question his play calling. He has a reason for all things he does.

Finally, and most importantly, Notre Dame isn't exactly a powerhouse. When was the last time they actually played for a national championship. Yeah, I know, Lou Holtz predicts it every year. But they haven't been good enough to play for one in over a decade or more. What exceptional thing have they done this year to warrant the talk. Beat teams by less than 7 points? Even bad Big 10 teams? They are over rated and tommorrow the truth hits them in the face. They are going down.

WWIN

Tsully,

What's good witcha?? Yo girl still mad about the #70's mom situation?? Lol

hassan

I am All in

In Chicago, lets go

SJMPARMAN

I meant Touchdown Jesus can't score for 100 miles away, of well, it is late and maybe I have imbibed more than normal but it is ND week and I am pumped. We are going to win this game. I just feel it strongly. I felt is before we kicked their butts 20-0 in 1983, especially for the revenge game where Erickson completed the 4th and 23 to Randall Hill, and especially now.

Players know when they are in a once in a lifetime moment. These Canes know.

Perryman is back, and Eddie Johnson lined up correctly in about 95% of plays last week and made the plays he had to make. He got little help without Perryman there. That changes this week. We saw alot of good things from McCord, Fentress, and others like Shaylon Green and Cain on the other linebacker side.

Once these guys shore up the run, none of the secondary other than the weak safety should feel any need to abandon their responsibilities. I expact a much better performance on the defensive side of the ball.
