With the U.S. Presidential election coming up in November it appears to us that these are your two choices: wide right or wide left. For some strange reason that sounds a lot like the Miami vs FSU series now doesn't it?
We say Miami wins 31 - 30. And just for fun, FSU misses wide LEFT. Again.
If you are attending Saturday's Homecoming game against Florida State then be sure to pick up your limited edition poster commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 1987 national champion Miami Hurricanes.
Fans can pick up their poster at various sponsor stations throughout the Fan Zone inside the Grand Plaza at Sun Life Stadium. If you pick yours up outside the stadium, you and place it in your car before the game for safe keeping. The commemorative posters will also be available at the Miami Herald subscription tables inside the stadium.
Parking lots open at 1 p.m. Plan to arrive at Sun Life Stadium early and be sure to get your 25th anniversary commemorative poster. For parking and traffic updates throughout the day, follow the official Twitter account for the Miami Hurricanes, @HurricaneSports.

I'll go better. Just woke up from a dream minutes ago. Literally. Here's what happened:
With a little over a minute to go in the game FSU was leading Miami 20-7.
EJ Manuel is chased by a UM defender and throws an interception which is returned for a touchdown. FSU 20 Miami 14
The Hurricanes kick an onside which is recovered.
With under 30 seconds to go Miami has gotten to the FSU thirty yard line. The ball is snapped and Ryan Williams (I think) is chased by multiple defenders and finally hits a receiver who scampers down but is tackled just short of the Seminoles goal line.
23 seconds to go. Time out.
Miami comes to the line. FSU is in full goal line defense. Williams hands it off to Duke Johnson, who fakes a dive into the end zone. The FSU defenders jump vertically to stop him. He waits a second, fakes a jump again, then scampers sideways and lofts a halfback pass to a receiver in the endzone.
Touchdown.
FSU 20 Miami 21.

1996: 7-0, 256-70
1997: 7-0, 282-90

2010: 6-1, 244-113
2011: 4-3, 251-135
2012: 6-1, 322-81
In terms of overall points scored, this is the best FSU offense since 1995, and the best defense since 2003.
Looking at the numbers above, it is amazing to see:
- How many strong starts did not end up in a national championship.
- How many potential 7-0 starts were ruined by Miami
- How absurdly weak their out of conference was, as indicated by their points allowed.
Miami Hurricanes after 7 games since 1994:
Year: Record PF PA
1994: 6-1, 243-80
1995: 4-3, 190-137
1996: 5-2, 192-85

Out of conference for FSU, excluding UF and Miami:
1994: Notre Dame
1995: Central Florida (I-AA)
1996: Southern Mississippi
1997: USC
1998: Texas A&M, USC
1999: Louisiana-Tech
2000: BYU, Louisville
2001: Alabama-Birmingham
2002: Iowa State, Louisville, Notre Dame
2003: Notre Dame
2004: Alabama-Birmingham, Syracuse
2005: Citadel (1-AA), Boston College, Syracuse
2006: Boston College, Rice, Troy
2007: Alabama, Alabama-Birmingham, Colorado
2008: Tennessee-Chattanooga(1-AA), Western Carolina(1-AA), Colorado
2009: BYU, Jacksonville State (1-AA), USF
2010: Samford (1-AA), BYU, Oklahoma
2011: Charleston (1-AA), Louisiana-Monroe, Oklahoma
I'll take back the point about their out of conference being absurdly weak, but they have scheduled a lot of 1-AA schools in recent years.

Let's Go Canes!
If we can get on top, and get in EJManuel's face, I think we can fluster them enough to pull an NCState type of upset.
Hasn't been mentioned much, but our inability to stop anyone's offense on 1st down is to ME a HUGE problem. We have ENOUGH problems stopping 3rd and 4th plays from opposing offenses, but our inability to force ANYONE into a 2nd and long situation is just ridiculous...
If we don't fix this, it will be a VERY long night.
Posted by: roachcane77 | October 20, 2012 at 09:07 AM
Now here's an absurdly weak out of conference schedule:
Texas (since Mack Brown took over)
1998: New Mexico State, Rice, UCLA
1999: NC State, Rice, Rutgers, Stanford
2000: Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Stanford
2001: New Mexico State, Houston, UNC
2002: Houston, N Texas, Tulane, UNC
2003: Arkansas, Rice, N Mexico St, Tulane
2004: Arkansas, N Texas, Rice
2005: Louisiana-Lafayette, Ohio State, Rice
2006: N Texas, Ohio State, Rice
2007: Arkansas St, C Florida, Rice, TCU
2008: Arkansas, FAU, Rice, UTEP
2009: Louisiana-Lafayette, UCF, UTEP, Wyoming
2010: FAU, Rice, UCLA, Wyoming
2011: BYU, Rice, UCLA
2012: New Mexico, Ole Miss, Wyoming
Only three times between 2000 and 2012 (Ohio State in 2005 & 2006, Arkansas in 2003) did Texas face a team that was ranked in the Top 25!

HONORARY CAPTAIN
Saturday's honorary captain is former Hurricanes DE and Pro Football Hall of Famer Ted Hendricks, who will be recognized as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference's Class of 2012 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game Legends. Hendricks, known as the "Mad Stork" for his tall (6-7), angular build and his dominating defensive play, started three seasons at defensive end for the Miami Hurricanes under coach Charlie Tate. A three-time All-America for the Hurricanes, he earned consensus, first-team All-America honors in 1967 and 1968, and led Miami to a 20-11-1 record. He ended his collegiate career as Miami's all-time leading tackler with 318 hits in 1968. That year, he was named UPI National Lineman of the Year and finished 5th in the Heisman Trophy balloting.
He went on to a spectacular 15-year NFL career as an outside linebacker playing in 215 consecutive games with the Baltimore Colts, Green Bay Packers, Oakland and L.A Raiders. During his time in the NFL, he helped lead his teams to four Super Bowl championships, was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, four times selected as an All-Pro and five times named second-team All-Pro. He was inducted into the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in 1987 and was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990. He was named to the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time team and to the NFL's All-Decade team of the 1970s. He was inducted into the University of Miami Hall of Fame in 1980, to its Ring of Honor in 1997 and had his jersey number - number 89 - retired, also in 1997.

Hate to say it
17-10 FSU half
38-17 FSU final
VT on the horizon, it is the bigger game. FSU/ND exposed this team against stronger teams. I have zero expectations, the only thread of hope, NCST beat the noles we beat NCST.
Stadium short of sell out, at least half FSU fans, that nauseating war chant, I wish we could sut them up!

Every good team we faced, we get walloped. We will be lucky to score 14. Penalties and mistakes is all i see here. Am sorry, not a doomer and this team is young but i based this off what we did against ND and K St. When was the last time Miami played above expectations and just came out and surprised everyone?....its been a long time. We lose to who we supposed to lose to and lose to some who we aren't supposed to lose to also. Can we change that today? I need more rum

Why would Scarface let a homeless dude throw all these picks as his QB no matter how tall and heavy he is?
The turkey special teams have sucked too today. Slightly better than Bill Dooley doesn't buy you as much as it used to anymore apparently.

And to think school athletic departments get upset when someone writes a disparaging headline.
Dynamo Moscow have vowed to crack down on the fans who shot players with paintball guns during a training session in protest at the side's worst-ever start to the season.
A group of fans dressed in camouflage gear arrived at the club's training ground on Friday and unleashed a barrage of paintballs at the players and club staff. T

I have a question for the Spacers.
Would you all give up alcoholic beverages for life if the Miami Hurricanes were promised to go undefeated and win a National Championship next season?
Posted by: Zakkee | October 20, 2012 at 03:29 PM
Only one championship Zakee???
Posted by: 4-Real | October 20, 2012 at 03:37 PM
Yes lol
Posted by: Zakkee | October 20, 2012 at 03:52 PM
Not to say that we never win another again, but just that next year would be a promised chip. Championships usually set up boosts in recruiting, performance etc..we'd benefit from all that in this hypothetical scenario but only next season would be promised.
Posted by: Zakkee | October 20, 2012 at 03:55 PM
It is so difficult to watch OSU, UF and ND games!
The refs of these teams games have no integrity. Especially Notre Dame and Ohio State U.
Posted by: Zakkee | October 20, 2012 at 03:59 PM
I cant get in here on typepad for some reason
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 20, 2012 at 03:59 PM
Looking forward to seeing how Ryan plays. Hes got better vision than Steven so it should be an advantage for him in big games.

Did u c the buckeye pulling Purdue's tight end jersey on the last play of the game Zakee? Pitiful
Posted by: 4-Real | October 20, 2012 at 04:07 PM
Exactly 4-Real, Golden doesn't coach at Temple anymore...why would he receive any credit, good, bad or indifferent for how they play now?
Posted by: vegascane | October 20, 2012 at 04:07 PM
Yea i saw it and they had the nerve to call that BS pass interference to put OSU on the one yard line, setting up their score before regulation.
Its just sickening for this to take place every Saturday between September and December, every year and no one says anything or does anything about it.
Posted by: Zakkee | October 20, 2012 at 04:28 PM
Purdue sucks!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: WWIN | October 20, 2012 at 04:35 PM
The real crime was not having replay overturn the OSU tying TD in regulation for hitting the ground which was clearly visible. Why even have replay now if you're not going to use it to get the call correct because the home team's fans are @$$holes?

Robert Marve MUST be horrible at QB for him not to start over Purdue's QB who is awful! An average QB would have beaten OSU today.

Would you give the canes for life if you were guaranteed free top shelf drinks next year.?

Win or lose, I feel good about tonight. As to my previous question, I think our O-Line, is better than FSU's D-Line.
Posted by: CaneRock | October 20, 2012 at 05:30 PM
Vegas, had Temple won everyone would be bragging bout how great Golden is cause temple is winning with his players. Truth is his temple kids sukk!!! Why you think Olsen Pierre was the only temple recruit he gave a Miami scholly 2? What happened 2 the other 20 sumthin kids he offered at temple b4 he left?? But enuff about Golden, its all about our Canes!!! I can feel it coming in the air 2nite.......

Gin & Tonic--give the Canes what? give up the Canes for top shelf drinks?
Hell no.
Posted by: Zakkee | October 20, 2012 at 05:33 PM
Canerock, I think we have the advantage against their d-line win run blocking, but they have the advantage against our pass blocking.

Posted by: LaQuinton | October 20, 2012 at 05:35 PM
Temple was winning at half time 10-0. So that means adjustments were made at the half by the COACHES and Golden didn't coach em the 2nd half. Plus I'm sure the #15 team in the country has more depth than temple to pull away in the second half.
