Big. Bigger. Biggest.
The game against FSU was big.
The game against Virginia Tech was even bigger.
Today's game against the Virginia Cavaliers is by far the biggest.
This game, along with Miami's game against Duke in Durham in two weeks, will determine Miami's fate in the ACC Coastal Division and their post-season opportunities (eligibility notwithstanding).
But there are many, many questions to be answered in today's game that go well beyond the scope of a single college football contest in November.
Can this Hurricane team, minus their best three defensive players, beat the Cavaliers in Charlottesville?
Can head coach Al Golden continue to silence his critics with another huge win like the one over VT last week?
Can coordinators Jedd Fisch and Mark D'Onofrio put the players in the right positions to make plays and produce positive results on the road in a hostile environment?
Can QB Stephen Morris play a consistent game and lead the Canes to 30 or more points and an almost guaranteed win by scoring big?
Those questions and probably a few more will be answered today against UVA. Let's all hope the answers are positive and that Miami can pull off another big ACC victory this season.
A win over the Cavaliers would be the biggest one yet.
Go Canes!

COPIED OVER FROM THE LAST:
Lewis rushes for 252 yards, winning score as Lake Mary Prep (10-0) nips Orangewood
Lake Mary Prep beats Orangewood Christian 19-16
Lake Mary Prep senior Ray Lewis III carried the ball a career-high 41 times for 252 yards while playing nearly every down on defense and special teams Friday at Orangewood Christian.
His final rush of a grueling afternoon was his shortest but sweetest gain. The son of All-Pro linebacker Ray Lewis scored from inside the 1-yard line on a fourth and goal play with 21.8 seconds to go to give the Griffins a 19-16 win at Orangewood Christian (6-4) and a 10-0 regular season.
"I'm definitely not a one-man team, but I knew the guys were depending on me,'' Lewis said. "I had to bring it home for my team.
Orangewood got 20 tackles from sophomore linebacker Jimmy Martin and led most of the way after Daniel Ebert blocked a punt, scooped the ball and scored from 72 yards out. Lewis returned a punt 67 yards to set up his first of two TDs to give LMP a 12-10 advantage late in the third quarter.
The Rams went back ahead after Martin intercepted a tipped pass and returned the ball 18 yards to the 9-yard line. That set up a B.J. Welch TD run with 7:48 remaining. Lewis started the Griffins' game-winning drive with a 29-yard kick return, then had runs to convert two fourth downs and a broken-play scramble for 15 on a third-and-11.

The answer to the game day blog question today is;
A resounding no. Better luck in Wallace Wade in two weeks, Hurricanes.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | November 10, 2012 at 10:59 AM
University of Miami sophomore receiver Rashawn Scott has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.
The sophomore ranks second on the team with 512 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 35 catches.
The ACC Coastal Division-leading Miami Hurricanes (5-4, 4-2 ACC) play at Virginia (3-6, 1-4 ACC) at noon ET Saturday on ABC.

RS = dumb ass......
Posted by: raizecane | November 10, 2012 at 11:26 AM
Wonder IF these suspensions are all related or isolated incidents.
Posted by: 86Cane | November 10, 2012 at 11:29 AM
These are now Golden's recruits getting suspended at key times, not the players recruited by the previous coaches.
Time to stop making excuses and for Golden to take a hard look at his own control and command. Obviously, Golden's not getting through to some of his own key recruits.
Posted by: Caneite | November 10, 2012 at 11:32 AM
Caneite- don't you think this is more on the players than Golden? He just makes the rules, which they apparently broke. We're talking about 18-20 year olds, with essentially zero senior leadership, and we have all seen EVERY UM coach since Jimmy Johnson have the same issues (remember Edgerin James' 300 yard game against UCLA? That only happened because his two backups were suspended). My concern is that we don't appear to be a very smart team, as I agree that this shouldn't be happening now. Smarter players who don't make mistakes like this are what I wish we had.

If Golden can find a way to win up in Charlottesville, it will go a long way toward getting his players to buy in to what he is building.
If the Canes can find a way to win the "biggest" game of the year, on the road, against a rising Coastal Division rival, as a slight underdog, then Golden sends the message for the rest of the season that no one player is bigger than the team, and that each player must put team first.
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | November 10, 2012 at 11:42 AM
Our history in the past 7-8 seasons says UM losses this game. Time to see if Golden can get the kids to rise up and control their destiny. Morris needs to play much better today than he has in the past 4 games. Kids getting suspended for doing stupid things is what kids do. If he violated a tema rule he needs to be held accountable.
Posted by: canesteeler | November 10, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Miami has not play 4 good quarters in a row....they need to do that starting today.
BTW - the first of many Captn-n-cokes has been poured.
Posted by: raizecane | November 10, 2012 at 11:55 AM
Will the game be live on any website????
Posted by: WWIN | November 10, 2012 at 11:55 AM
^^^ Played ^^^
Posted by: raizecane | November 10, 2012 at 11:55 AM
I'm guessing Scott is an academic casualty, Johnson probably got mouthy with D'No. I have no clue what really happened though.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | November 10, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Willie - I am watching it on ABC

Just asking. Suspended indefinitely because of academics? Does that ever happen? Maybe. I've got a feeling its disciplinary.
Posted by: Reeetard | November 10, 2012 at 12:07 PM
Rashawn Scott...Eddie Johnson bone heads
Posted by: Montreal-Cane | November 10, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Get D'No's sorry @$$ upstairs to see how wide open these 3rd and long zone plays are for once.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | November 10, 2012 at 12:13 PM
Third down Defense is a joke. D¨no Sucks.
Posted by: Al | November 10, 2012 at 12:13 PM
Boneheads recruited by Golden
Posted by: Reeetard | November 10, 2012 at 12:14 PM
So why on why on 3rd down are they playing 20 yards back?
Posted by: panamacitycane | November 10, 2012 at 12:14 PM
Wanna Puke. Fire D'no. Fire Golden. They are the worst punishment for the team and the fans.
Posted by: Al | November 10, 2012 at 12:16 PM
Going to be a long Saturday this week. 75 yards surrendered already, they're just slightly behind schedule for their 600 given up on defense.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | November 10, 2012 at 12:16 PM
it'll be a long day
Posted by: jiggafras | November 10, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Virginia looks like Alabama right now. This QB can throw for 300+ today if he wants too.
Posted by: raizecane | November 10, 2012 at 12:17 PM
He plays 20 yard back because if he jams the receivers they will score on one play. Sad.
Posted by: Al | November 10, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Just wait until Simms gets in there, Rocco was a 1:1 TD:INT guy, Simms is 2:1.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | November 10, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Thanks Eddie Johnson
Posted by: Montreal-Cane | November 10, 2012 at 12:18 PM
Wonder if Jedd is interested in bailing D'No out yet again this week?
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | November 10, 2012 at 12:18 PM
Which Morris is gonna show up today. Is it gonna be darts on the ground?

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE! Wow what a start for him.
Posted by: Felipe | November 10, 2012 at 12:27 PM

OMG PRESS MAN AND THE PASS GETS TIPPED D'NO! Try that every time now.
Iffy call at best on the hold.
