IS IT SATURDAY YET?

BigWindyCane1

No time to talk about the major distraction of a bowl-ban at this time when the Canes are not even bowl eligible.

Canes need to play in Charlottesville like its a bowl game, and they need to play their next two games like a bowl game. A victory would eliminate UVa from bowl eligility, so the Hoos will come out fignting. UVa matches up well against the Canes, with their big offensive line and solid RBs and defense. The U-tough program should pay off this week unlike last year where the Canes were pushed around.

UVa has been playing its best football, but the good news is that the Canes can play a lot better. Morris can play a LOT better - Duke, with more touches, can make more explosive plays - the young defense can play a lot better - the DTs can and will play a lot better with Porter back - the offensive line can play better.

I am looking for the Canes to develop some consistency and put together a string of games wher they play to their potential, and maybe even a couple of blowouts.

Golden will get it done

Great stuff Big Windy.

roachcane77

I agree... right on BigWindyCane1...the TEAM should read that post.

Once again, nice title 86! (Uh huh.)

86Cane

Windy...solid comment and spot on. Way to keep us focused on the task at hand. Let's hope Golden can do the same with this young team.

Roach...U know I try hard as compared to hardly trying. LOL

86Cane

We are suppose to be trying to get on the fast track to the national championship game not the acccg. It's not our time this year, the pre heat light on the stove has just went off not the timer for the food to come out the oven.

LOVE that analogy.

Hate to take is back to the NCAA sanctions business but READ THIS about what went on at UNC:

MIAMI: The Hurricanes opened up play last week with a solid 30-12 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies. With the victory, Miami has taken over first place in the ACC's Coastal Division standings. The Hurricanes snapped a three- game series losing streak to Virginia Tech with the win, moving to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Hurricanes were outgained by Virginia Tech 421 yards to 347 and went just 1-of-12 on third down, but still managed to win the game. Tailback Duke Johnson rushed for an even 100 yards and one TD, while quarterback Stephen Morris completed 13-of-28 passes, for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Miami can secure bowl eligibility with one more victory. The Hurricanes will get their first crack at that win this weekend with a road trip to Charlottesville against Virginia.

86Cane

VIRGINIA: The Cavaliers ended a nearly two month drought in the win column with last weekend's surprising, yet emphatic 33-6 rout of a good NC State squad. The win moved Virginia to 3-6 overall and gave the team its first league win of the year (1-6) and marked the first win for Virginia at Carter- Finley Stadium since 1999. The Cavs were able to amass 446 yards of total offense, while limiting NC State to a mere 216. It was the third straight dominant defensive performance for Virginia, which has held each of its last three foes under 235 total yards. Entering the game with a mere seven sacks on the season, Virginia was able to record six sacks against the Wolfpack. In addition, the team had just four forced turnovers this season, but forced five in the win. Tailback Kevin Parks led a strong ground attack (248 yards) for Virginia with 115 yards and one TD. The Cavs will attempt at a second straight win when they play host to Miami-Florida this weekend.

Purdue's Caleb TerBush was pulled for Robert Marve in the third quarter for Purdue (3-5, 0-4) after finishing 5 for 18 for 49 yards and an interception that Michael Carter returned 43 yards for a score.

TerBush was sacked three times, and Carter tied the program record with six pass breakups, including three on the same drive he ended with the pick six.

TerBush, almost four years older than Nelson, looked more like the guy making his second start. After a decent 2011 season, the fifth-year senior has struggled through much of this fall. The same team that lost by three points at now-fifth-ranked Notre Dame and in overtime last week at ninth-ranked Ohio State has been blown out by Michigan, Wisconsin and now Minnesota.

Marve went 11 for 19 for 97 yards and two touchdowns in relief, helping the Boilermakers creep closer with the outcome long decided.

Digging up a detailed gold cardboard spreadsheet given to him in 2007 by Plant coach Robert Weiner on a recruiting/one-day camp trip to Oxford with quarterback Robert Marve, Feldman takes a look at how many coaches and recruiters who had a hand in trying to lure the Panther signal caller to their school are still in place.

Spoiler: not many.

From the story: of the 48 schools that recruited Marve just five years ago, only seven still have the same head coach, and 19 have had multiple coaches since then.

Wow.

Feldman was at Ole Miss working on Meat Market, his 2008 behind-the-scenes book on college football recruiting. In it, he wrote about some of Marve's experiences.

Bad news...Perryman is wearing yellow jersey at practice and is in a boot for his injured ankle. Bush is wearing a red jersey and no pads.

Romney for President

Bush has a concussion - there are strict rules that have to be followed now. A couple of years ago he would have a black jersey and we wouldn't be talking about it

UpNorthCane27

Me and two buddies are making that 10 hr drive from RHode island to Charlottesville, to see our boys wrap up the Coastal Division Baby. Were leaving at 10:30 pm on friday.... C A N E S

UPNorth...NICE! Now all U have to do is to make a Canespace poster with blogger names on it and take it to the game and take photos and send them to me.

Perryman's ankle is going to bother him the rest of the year, no matter if he sits out a game or 2. Depending on the severity, it can take a month to 6 weeks or maybe longer and that's with limited activity.
Look for Vir. to exploit us on the ground like everyone else. Dee has looked a little better but still can't consistently stop the run.
I can't see the NCAA giving us more than a 2 year ban, if what I'm reading about UNC is true. They got a real slap on the wrist for all their transgressions.
Glad to see last game we finally started throwing to the TE some. If we start making an effort to use those guys more, it will open up the WR's RB's more. Hope Jedd doesn't go back into that run twice and pass last mode. He could be doing that because Morris doesn't have the mobility in his gimpy ankle, but the last 2 orm 3 games there hasn't been to much imagination used just alot of basic stuff, that a high school team could stop.

UpNorthCane27

Herbie your on point man, Jedd has to get more creative, but maybe just maybe he's going to keep it dialed down this week and come out with a win. That means when we play FSU again, maybe he opens it up??

SOUP you already know brother, Canespace sign shouting out all my people and pictures will be taken care of... is there anyway you have a list of all the bloggers, that way i dnt miss anyone? if not it's cool ill go off the top off my head.

Terry, named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week, told his mother that his blocked punt against Virginia Tech — UM’s first blocked punt since 2008 — was for her.

This 19-year-old linebacker from Wellington has had a tough life, and he’s learning to savor each gift as it comes, explained his mom.

Terry’s path has been strewn with obstacles. His father is serving a life sentence in a Central Florida prison for a 2001 murder.

His mom, who studied cosmetology, also served time in prison for her part in a 2004 bank robbery, she confirmed.

In eighth grade, after being arrested for burglary and larceny, Terry went to Boys Town, a center for at-risk youth in Omaha, Neb. He spent more than three years there, rehabilitating, playing sports and turning around his life.

“Out there I grew up,” Terry said. “I was young, and I don’t even know how to say it, just a little out of control. I had to grow up and learn some social skills and learn how to carry myself like a young teenager. It really did help me.”

Herb and UpNorth...I have been told that 20% of the offense has been taken out for Morris due to his ankle and his poor play in certain situations.

I agree with that 86 but it looks to me that vanilla is the flavor of the day.
I was reading some stuff on Fox, who is this Rob Kelly? Man if this dude isn't a Debbie Downer. I know I can be real negative, like all of us Cane's fans but he's got a agenda of destruction, with what he writes. I can see on tv that the stadium looks empty and they say we average 52k or somewhere in that neighborhood but being that the stadium is 25 miles away or so and that enrollment is 10,000 or so, I'd say it would look empty if it seats 75k. We have for ever and a day needed a stadium, that seats about 5ok, where they would build it and when, I have no clue but i am surprised, with all the superstar alumi, that somebody hasn't gotten behind this effort. He also attacks recruiting, and us not being relavent, which at present time we aren't but that will change, here very shortly. I am not a "U" grad, I went to a little school in western N.C. called WCU, grew up and spent a lot of time at UNC games and was a die hard Bama fan but fell in love with this school in 82. I loved the swag, the junk talking and braggart ways they used to exhibit on the field. But the "U" ushered in a new attitude and helped change the rule book about etiquet on the field, The Miami rule on celebrations. These guys became record breakers & Jet setters, like nothing else college football had seen. There are always going to be highs & lows and nobody can stay on top forever. The USC's, OSU's, & even BAMA, have had to come back from losing records, all in the last 10 years or so and we will too. To me, it's amazing what this tiny school has accomplished the last 3o years. It's sort of like Duke in basketball, they play in that little crummy, trumped up high school gym and yet, year after year they are a major threat to win a ship. It ain't the size of the dog but how much bite they have, the facilities don't win games, and the crowd don't win games. Coaching & talent win games, look at Duke in bball, great coach, great results. I bitch & moan on here because I'm passionate about this team and I'm starved and impatient waiting for us to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Golden, if we can keep, him will get us their. No, he still doesn't have all the pieces of the puzzle to be top 25 but that too is coming. If he can get the right QB and get the dee fixed, hells coming, sanctions and all!

CGNC

Herbie did you ever get that job?

Deon out saturday

86, interesting article. Does not sounding different than what Miami was accused of. Funny that the national media was not calling for the Tar Heels to suspend their program, isn't it?

Just imagine the reaction if they ever find out about the Connor Barth cloning facility at their campus.

CGNC,
Negative. Been in Recreation since I was 14, and really only wanted something part-time. Like most places, i believed they hired close by. Never got to interview with the Rec. Director just his sidekicks.

Another depth chart and Gunter is still listed as a true sophomore

orange 'n green in the vein

Now that Seantrel is back as a starter, can somebody sic Susan on the curious case of Gunter's eligibility? It's been almost a whole year now, how long until UM gets this settled once and for all?

UPDATES FROM THE SOURCE:

1. Morris is struggling in practice and throwing lots of INTs.

2. After getting a taste of it against VT Walford wants the ball and he ain't afraid to tell Morris that. Good thing MJ5 is in there to keep the peace.

3. There was a boatload of recruits at the VT game. Many more than expected

4. Eddie Johnson has NFL scouts DROOLING. Many teams are already interested in him. Could wind up being a 1st rounder IF he keeps his play up.

5. Remember this name: Michael Parker.

That is all.
