Only 11 teams remain on the Shortlist to South Beach this season, ranked in order of merit for one of the two top spot invites as follows:
Notre Dame, Alabama, Kansas State, Oregon, Ohio State, Louisville, Georgia, Florida, FSU, Oregon State and Clemson.
No team won games last week that I predicted them to be eliminated from the Shortlist by losing but one team did fall by the wayside without me calling for them to do so:
1) LSU has their arch-nemesis Alabama on the ropes with under two minutes to play in Baton Rouge, only to have the spear driven back through their hearts with some poorly timed soft corner play in 21-17 final score. Les Miles finally is forced to admit that he's not so great of a gambler after all, but this moment of clarity from him comes way too late for the Tigers who find themselves relegated to second class status in their division again by this result. At least they'll always have that split title in 2003 to keep pointing to in between emptying of flasks and cleaning of spilled oil since the one Miles was awarded is basically a punchline at their expense at this point.
I predict no teams being eliminated this week from the Shortlist as surprisingly the competitive slate for the top contenders is relatively easy for most of them until their final games. Enjoy the games this week and join me back here next week as the final position changes take place as the finish line bears ever closer here on the Shortlist to South Beach!

The University of Miami's home finale Sat., Nov. 17 at Sun Life Stadium will be "First Responders & Military Appreciation Day". In appreciation of all first responders, Miami is offering them special discounted ticket prices.
UM invites all first responders, including police, sheriff's department, fire personnel, emergency medical technicians and military personnel to the Hurricanes' home finale against USF. To show our support, tickets regularly priced at $29 are now available for just $9. In addition, lower-level seats typically priced at $59 are available for only $28.
Each department who participates will be recognized on the stadium video board during the game. Simply tweet your photo to @HurricaneSports or email your photo to [email protected].
Kickoff time for the game is still TBA.
To purchase the specially-priced tickets, simply click HERE and, when prompted, enter the Special Offer Code: firstresponders.

In terms of TV coverage the UM vs UVA game is very limited and mainly an SE Coast game.

I'm not too spooked about tailback for a variety of reasons...
1. We've got Duke & Clements for next year.
2. We haven't even gotten a real look at Crawford.
3. Danny Dillard.
4. The future still looks good. Ray Lewis III isn't shabby.
5. Sony Michel.
6. See previous comments from the CEO.
Anything else is just ice.
How about we get a priest to stop the dropped passes? A tight end who just punishes the middle of the field?
Get Deon and Denzel healthy. We better ball out and destroy UVA.
WIN!

Just like every year when they blow a legit shot at the Nat'l Championship

I don't mind Jucos but it's also telling me that we are having a hard time bring in some studs on the defensive front out of high school and keeping them committed or getting them to commit.

***Rumor***
Twitter was buzzing that UM received their Notice of allegations from the NC2A Tim Reynolds has already shut down the rumors. back to your regularly scheduled programming.

We are and will be fine at RB in 2013, 2014 and beyond. There are several recruits at that position that Miami is VERY good with.
Posted by: SOUP | November 09, 2012 at 12:29 PM
Herbie, Im not sold on juco players as a normal way of doing things but if we can bring a few in every so often & they help immediately then I'm all for it. It usually takes 2 years for linemen to get strong & skilled enough to be very good, all game & all season (not just a play here or there). Our DL even next year will need help.

Tim Reynolds @ByTimReynolds
Miami does not have its NCAA letter. Enjoy the rest of your Friday.
Tim Reynolds @ByTimReynolds
Going to be as clear as I can on this: No one at Miami believes that the NCAA letter arrival is imminent.

Carry on, troll.

Soup so jealous you were in the keys! I am concerned about this Virginia game. SM17 needs to bring his A game or they need to play Ryan Williams - $0.02 fwiw
Posted by: CGNC | November 09, 2012 at 01:54 PM
Bill Snyder seems to make the juco process work. Half of his team are regular Matlock viewers!

CGNC,
Did you see what Williams did when he got in?
Posted by: WWIN | November 09, 2012 at 02:46 PM
Ohio who is the troll. I posted what Tim Reynolds said already.

Since when has Tim Reynolds ever broken a big story? Tim Reynolds doesn't know EVERYBODY at Miami, in fact he's hardly ever there.
That's "No one at Miami" that is willing to speak to Tim Reynolds. NOA to be revealed next week after VA game on Saturday.
Mark it down. It doesn't make sense to reveal it now before an important game, does it? Sources say NOA is there or on the way.

Also, LMBBO at putting Williams in.
Morris is the future at quarterback until the end of next year. Unless he does like Jacory at the Sun Bowl, or injured, he's behind center for the rest of his career. So unless you're hoping he gets injured, get used to him. It is NOT going to happen. Anybody that knows anything about Golden knows he's got Morris' back.
Deal with it.

Reggie is over 300lbs 6'10'' would be great on the OL...He will need to slim down before real competition and ACC play by mid season.

Virginia will be a tough game for the Canes. Perhaps, the toughest test left for the Canes. The Cavs really are much better than their record.
The Canes formula for winning this year has been generating big plays and turnovers. Canes should win the turnover battle and get some big plays to win. Golden and company will show how far this team has progressed since last year. The Canes are on track to building a strong stable program, and a road win in Charlottesville is the next step.
Charlottesville, Va - Forecast
Low tonight 34 degrees
High tomorrow - 64 degrees and sunny
