Scary thought is Special K being allowed to make another revenue sport hire actually C_1. Keep blaming the bare cupboard three years later while the basketball team tears it up under even worse NCAA suspicion than your sacred coordinator who can't coach for crap has had to endure with his roommate while they sputter away all that talent the last guy left behind.

Why does this make me LOL as much as I do?

UM needs to shut off this last imminent VT scoring run that's on its way quickly here to seal this up.

Green is going to be a hell of a NBA player

Larkin gets Player of the Year for tonight's performance haha

thirstybuzzardcane

It's scary thinking Larkin is only a sophomore.

Shane going off tonight helped make up for the off shooting night from Scott, Trey getting to double digits covered the rest of the shortfall even with Reggie and Gamble not racking up large point totals. Those two helped Kadji save some energy on the defensive boards to make sure he got his numbers which was key though because that's the difference in the final score tonight. On defense the highest scorer in the nation got his and then some but UM played real well for long stretches in the first half to keep it close and improved on that in the second half to secure the big road win.

Another night in a tie, another pimp roll down main street for Miami basketball. It's so nice to enjoy gunned down turkey on the road to finish up the opening month of a great New Year!

Great win for our Miami Hurricanes bball team now 7-0 in the ACC and 16-3 overall. Congrats to the Pimp and the Crew. So happy right now. M-I-A-M-l fight, fight, fight. OGV u on fire man.

In my dreams...

Time to rename the baseball stadium and make a deal with Alex Rodriguez

"...Several professional athletes and Major League Baseball players including Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, whose $3.9 million contribution to the renovation of UM’s baseball stadium got it named in his honor have been linked along with Goins to an anti-aging clinic that distributed PEDs, the Miami New Times reported Tuesday."

How about renaming the Baseball Stadium The Ron Fraser Park at Mark Light field. Alex Rodriguez never played for UM and only paid for some stadium renovations...and get his name on the facade.

Montreal-Cane

Mia Chi cane 98 congrats and the best for your family.

All i'm saying is we shouldn't be in this boat with 8 or 9 top players, waiting for signing day to sink or swim us. I can see maybe 3 maybe 4 but I've never seen us, in this position with so many star players, choosing between us and someone else.
That was a good dig though, Dog!

Have to keep in mind the head winds that are still against Al Golden. Last year and this year were the toughest periods that Golden will face in regards to recruiting. He may not get every player this year, but he's hopefully laid the foundation with HS coaches that will pay dividends after the head winds disipate.

TonyCane

Miami 5*,4*,3*,2* recruits in last 12 years:

2002: (1)*****,(14)****,(6)***,(2)**
2003: (3)*****,(10)****,(10)***,(1)**
2004: (3)*****,(9)****,(9)***,(6)**
2005: (2)*****,(11)****,(3)***,(1)**
2006: (0)*****,(10)****,(8)***,(3)**
2007: (1)*****,(7)****,(8)***,(2)**
2008: (2)*****,(15)****,(8)***,(8)**
2009: (1)*****,(9)****,(8)***,(1)**
2010: (1)*****,(6)****,(18)***,(4)**
2011: (0)*****,(2)****,(13)***,(2)**
2012: (2)*****,(8)****,(23)***,(0)**

And at present:
2013: (0)*****,(5)****,(6)***,(1)**

In regards to recruiting, in a post last fall I discussed Miami's last four classes versus those of our opponents. In every case but K State and Virginia, our losses came against teams with higher cumulative star ratings than us. And every win this year came against teams with a lesser total of stars.

A key point that I mentioned was Miami's ability to recruit more 4 and 5 star players each year than 3 and 2 star players. And looking at the numbers above, we were doing that:

Year, More 4/5* players than 2/3*?

2002: Yes
2003: Yes
2004: No
2005: Yes
2006: No
2007: No
2008: Yes
2009: Yes
2010: No
2011: No
2012: No

When the balance of 4/5* players starts to equal or exceed the 3* guys, this team will ascend.

I NEED HELP GUYS!!!
I'm looking for the link where someone references Golden texting recruits saying "Are you on board? Because this train will leave without you!"
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE HELP I will be forever grateful.

Thanks TonyCane.
STARS MATTER

UMike

I got to admit..even when they know their gonna lose, the VT fans had some great chants lol..when Reggie was at the line they chanted "south beach diet"..and they when we kinda pulled away they chanted "you got sanctions" lol

UMike

I have this bad feeling we are not getting Keef or Bostwick.

UMike

From reading some message boards it appears Bryant "loves Miami", but his mom wants to get him away. This was supposedly said during his FSU visit (where his lil bro had on all Canes gear). Unless Golden was able to show mom that UM is not "Miami", but Coral Gables..he is a Nole. Not a shocker exactly lol

LOVE IT!!

Urban Meyer walked into Palm Beach Central High School on Monday and got some bad news from hotly recruited Broncos junior offensive tackle Kc McDermott.

"Are we in your top five?" the Ohio State coach asked, according to a source's account of the meeting.

"No, sir," McDermott replied, never losing eye contact.

Meyer responded, "Are you considering us at all?"

"No, sir," McDermott said.

From Rivals..

There were some rumors on Monday that three-star running back Augustus Edwards had finally officially de-committed from Syracuse, but that was proven untrue. However, it just seems a matter of time before it becomes official because this has turned out to be a battle between Florida State and Miami. Edwards named Florida State his leader earlier this week after Coach Jimbo Fisher stopped by to visit him, but with Miami receiving the final official visit this coming weekend, this will likely go to the finish.

UMike

Four-star running back Alex Collins took his final official visit to Arkansas during the weekend. The visit helped out the Razorbacks, and they will be in his final group of schools when he makes his decision on Feb. 4. But Miami remains the leader. Another Miami prospect who took an official visit to Arkansas during the weekend was Denver Kirkland. Once again, the visit helped the Razorbacks, but it will be a surprise if he doesn't stay local and end up at Miami. Florida State is still making a push and will until the end, but he is the Hurricanes' to lose.

UMike

Changing a few of my guesses -- not predictions -- from last week. I hit on Derrick Green but that was easy and I'll keep my predictions on Lawson to Tennessee, Laremy Tunsil to Georgia, Matthew Thomas to Miami, Vanderdoes to UCLA and A'Shawn Robinson to Texas. I'll switch from Florida to FSU for Jalen Ramsey, but Vonn Bell is the toughest one to figure. I said it would be Alabama then but now it appears to be a battle between Ohio State and Tennessee. There is a lot of smoke about a silent Tennessee commitment and I know Bell's parents loved Knoxville, but a reliable source told me that the Buckeyes still have the edge despite the excellent visit to the Vols. I'm going to say Ohio State, but not with a ton of confidence.

UMike

Since defensive tackle Keith Bryant (6-2/300) asked to be taken off Miami’s current commitment list, his recruitment has been nothing short of exciting. He has taken visits, tweeted out random messages and has been part of a lot of rumors. CaneInsider.com caught with the Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic product to talk the latest.

“It was straight,” Bryant said of his most recent official visit to South Carolina. “JT Surratt (sophomore defensive tackle) hosted me. He was pretty cool.”

Bryant has named three schools that are standing out: Florida State, South Carolina and Miami. However, he’s not ready to name a leader. “It’s a pretty close race, that’s all I’m gonna say.”

It is common knowledge–even before he committed to the Canes–that he was a big Miami fan. Now, since going through the recruiting process and seeing Miami from a different perspective, did his feelings changed?

### Last year, it would have been unfathomable to think UM would win an ACC road game in which Durand Scott shot 2 for 10 and Reggie Johnson 1 for 4. But this is the most complete Hurricanes team in a decade, with the poise and skill to rally from 12 down on the road Wednesday.

### By outscoring Virginia Tech 44-32 in the second half, UM overcame 30 points by Erick Green, the nation’s leading scorer.

### Shane Larkin again made a case to be All-ACC first or second team, with 25 points (9 for 14 shooting), three steals and blocks on two consecutive jump shots. He made the game's biggest shot, a three that extended UM's lead to 63-56 with 1:45 left.

Kenny Kadji came alive in the second half, scoring 14 of his 18 after intermission.

### Johnson has shot only 2 for 13 in his three games back from injury but his 10 rebounds were key Wednesday.

### At 7-0 in the ACC, UM preserved a two-game conference lead over Duke and Virginia.

### Al Golden and his staff have done good work recruiting despite the NCAA cloud hanging over the program. But don't think for a minute that the uncertainty hasn't hurt. Alex Collins' coach said Collins has expressed concern about potential NCAA sanctions, and Keith Bryant's former coach said the NCAA issue also has worked heavily against UM with Bryant, who has said he leans toward FSU or South Carolina. Collins is still considering UM (with UF, Arkansas and Wisconsin) and will announce his intentions Monday night.

Well since there is nothing, and I mean nothing, in Blacksburg outside of V-Tech they probably got together for weeks to come up with their chants

Alex Collins = Cane.

Will announce Monday at 10pm. Will post link that day for announcement.

Thanks for well wishes.

Interesting fact: Miami has never beaten NC State at their place. Hopefully they break that streak Saturday afternoon.

Though I am not sure if they have ever beaten NC State since joining the ACC.
