If the waiting is the hardest part, then that part may finally, mercifully be over for the Miami Hurricanes. Today it was reported by multiple sources that it is very likely that the University of Miami will receive their Notice of Allegations (NOA) from the NCAA on Monday.
The news first broke early Saturday afternoon as www.caneinsider.com reported that an un-named source close to the investigation had informed them that the NOA would arrive in Coral Gables on Monday morning. That report was soon confirmed by the Associated Press, the Miami Herald and a few others in the media.
It will be interesting to see what if any formal response comes from UM on what could be one very manic Monday for the university's administration, legal team and athletic department. If in fact the NOA does arrive there is likely going to be several hectic hours digesting the report which is certain to be followed by several meetings between President Donna Shalala, Acting AD Blake James and UM compliance department staff.
The University of Miami would then have up to 90 days to contest or appeal the allegations listed in the report, a process that most legal experts who have reviewed similar cases before the NCAA Committee on Infractions (COI), consider highly likely. This process could possibly delay the actual penalty phase from being completed until May or maybe even June.
In addition to likely receipt of the NCAA NOA report on Monday it was also announced that UM would hold a press conference at 11 AM to allow three players to announce their intentions to enter the NFL draft or remain at Miami for another year. Set to meet the press are OL Seantrel Henderson, OL Brandon Linder and DL Curtis Porter, all of whom are expected to return for another season at UM.
Join us for just another manic Monday at UM to start the week.
Huh, I can see the coaches now when Brissett called about transferring:
AG: Hello...
JB: Hey Coach, this is Jacoby, you remember me?
AG: Yeah...uhhh...hey Jacoby, what's going on, is everything alright?
JB: Uhhhh, yeah Coach...well, honestly Coach, nah. You remember everything you were telling me about "Uphold the legacy, playing with passion, toughness, yada yada yade, well, I believe it now.
AG: So what are you saying Jacoby...
JB: I want back in Coach, I want back in.
AG: (Puts His hands over the receiver, silently tells Michael Barrow and Jed Fisch that it's JB, and gestures that JB wants to come to Miami. Fisch and Barrow bust out laughing. Michael Barrow gets on YouTube, find Mike Jones's "Back Then" song, turns it up, and all you can hear is laughter, and "Back then you didn't want me, now I'm hot you all on me". AG hangs up...
JB: Hello...hellooooo...Coach Golden...Coach Golden...hellooooo.

Joe Garcia @JGJr9
Two years ago, losing Brissett was a huge blow. Today, our QB situation is to the point where we are turning him down. Impressive.

Now that Derrick Green has eliminated us from his services, does anybody have any new shocker picks recruiting wise that will choose or flip to the canes?
Posted by: DeployedDiehardCane | January 13, 2013 at 11:41 AM
I will venture to say we will have at least 1 player commit and/or flip that is NOT someone we all already think will be a Cane.
Posted by: UMike | January 13, 2013 at 12:05 PM
I already falsified documents to show I gave millions to FSU and VT players. Don't worry guys, I got this on lock.

I wasn't overly impressed with Brissett then, He looked like a bigger version of Jacory Harris in regards to arm strength. The QB that I wanted that year was Kevin Sousa, that kid had a waaaaaaay higher ceiling thant Brissett.

^^^LMAO! That's what I would've done!
Ok. I'm going to say what everyone's thinkin about Brissett. BIAAATCH!!! THAT'S GOOD FOR YO OL' GATOR DIKK RIDIN AZZ!
I've been waiting for this moment since he stood us up on signing day. Tee hee hee ;-)

I think the biggest problem with Brissett is his name is Jacoby. He looked like Harris... so Jacoby = Jacory... I was terrified he would be another Harris just because of his name haha. I remember when he picked UF, I threw up two fingers and said "I hope you leave Florida and wish you would've came to Miami." It was more wishful thinking than being prophetic, but nonetheless, it's happened and I couldn't be happier.

UMike...U sir have been VAULTED!
Oh, and BTW, when I was in The Vault I found this little nugget posted by Ohio from Kirk Herbstreit from before last season:
Herbstreit - "I think if they (UM) gets to 5 or 6 wins, that'd be a lot to ask."
Shut it, Herbie!

I wonder if Golden ever got his lifetime contract at UM as promised by Brandon Odoi from Caneinsider IF Golden won 6 games last year? LOL
Posted by: 86Cane | January 13, 2013 at 01:20 PM
I'm pretty sure that is the first time I have ever been vaulted lol...I think we are going to have an elite offense next year and our D has to be somewhat better lol..we will be at hose and Florida is losing a lot of their top guys.

THERE IS A REALLY GOOD NCAA LEGAL ISSUE BLOG CALLED THE BY-LAW BLOG TO FOLLOW AND READ. HERE IS SMALL CHUNK:
That would set in motion a timeline, the “beginning of the end” as both articles have called receiving the notice. Miami has 90 days to respond to the allegations, followed by a hearing date that will be scheduled as part of the Notice of Allegations. That puts Miami’s response due sometime around mid-April, with a hearing date in June most likely. After the hearing, the Committee on Infractions tries to release the public report within six weeks, but often takes longer. Given the complexity of the Miami case and the attention it has attracted, two months is probably a minimum. August or September seem more likely than not.
If Miami were to appeal any findings or penalties, that appeal would not be heard and the report released until 2014 at the earliest. Given Miami’s self-imposed postseason bans and apparent excellent cooperation, an appeal seems unlikely unless the Committee on Infractions imposed scholarship reductions worse than USC’s or added another postseason ban.

I am glad we shot down Brissett, btw Jacoby couldn't wash J12 draws. Jacoby couldn't throw for 50 Tds much less 70 in his career. Straight doo doo.

Anybody watching this ATL vs SEA game? ATL was dominating the entire game but SEA has the ball with 2 minutes left and down only 6 points. Any Russell Wilson magic left?

Now this is not the end. It is not even the end of the beginning. But it is, perhaps, the beginning of the end.
