You could tell that she was warming up and really wanted to sing out loud.
You could see that she was ready to deliver an emotional farewell song.
Instead everyone saw that she was shut up by a more than memorable performance by one of the most memorable and productive linebackers ever to play the game of professional football.
On this Sunday in January Ray Lewis said: "Shut your mouth Fat Lady!"
Ray Lewis, the talented, emotional and enigmatic leader of the Baltimore Ravens put on such an incredible performance in the NFL playoffs that even the proverbial "Fat Lady" had to be impressed.
Now before we go too far and get some people upset, this article is not a criticism of large women. No, not at all. We love all women, and women of all shapes and sizes. But as you know, in sports there is a saying that when games are determined to be virtually over that the "The Fat Lady Sings".
Well, the Fat Lady said Ray Lewis was old.
She claimed that Lewis was still injured.
She predicted that Lewis could not come back from all of the time off.
She was wrong, wrong and even more wrong!
Ray Lewis looked like well, Ray Lewis on this Sunday in Baltimore. He was all over the field, made 13 tackles and once again silenced the critics (and the Fat Lady) who said he too old, too injured and well past the time in his NFL career when he could get the job done.
U go Ray-Ray. Shut up the critics, win the Super Bowl and then throw it in their face. Know this: your Baltimore Ravens' fans and University of Miami fans have your back big time.
Oh and by the way, tell your son Ray Lewis III, who as everybody knows is already committed to The U, to do the same. Like father, like son.
As NFL linebacker Bart Scott once said: "WE CAN'T WAIT!
First? Great Article. Go Canes!!

RG 3 should have been taken out a long time ago-they risked further injury with him playing on one leg-Cousins is a good QB-

Great stuff, 86! Said this on twitter earlier: Ray ray is the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be!
Posted by: j.w. | January 06, 2013 at 09:39 PM
Nearly all of the gayturds offensive players were stud recruits but other than their o-line they're offense is garbage. Maybe Brissett wouldn't look so garbage if he was being groomed by Fisch. Also, guess who's coaching those talented, underachieving WR's at Florida... ('o') Aubrey Hill! Say it ain't so. The same WR coach that had our WR's playing like shyt. Yeah, that guy. The one that forced Hankerson to run to Mark Duper to save his career. Ijs Brissett had a better chance to succeed if he stayed home. Jmo

RAY LEWIS IS THE BEST DANCING LINEBACKER EVER TO PLAY THE GAME!!!
Posted by: canezilla | January 07, 2013 at 07:24 AM
According to CaneSport, Grace says he is 90% Cane...imo the only reason he isn't saying 100% is because he wants to commit on signing day. Lewis and Howard are among his best friends, you might as well add him to our list because he is a lock

I think so, too. Also UM is in need of another linebacker due to attrition (Buchanan, Paul, Witt). We need Grace and Thomas to come in and "ball out."
I think Kirby will be pretty descent next season barring injury. I think Terry will be a monster once he's coached up. Perryman is talented and solid, but that's it. I can't think of anyone else on the roster who could help.
D-Line: Recently some criticism of Shayon Green has surfaced, and I disagree. The entire defensive line was ineffective, but this guy came back from an injury plagued career and did nothing but lead the team in tackles. He may not have been up to standard, but he's the last guy who deserves the axe on the line.
Defensive tackle is a supreme need, and next to tight end, is the position that can really complete this team. Is there anybody who can step up and generate some consistent push? Just curious.
How about the 2013 class? It looks very sharp, and addressed some MAJOR needs and has some really nice gems at QB, TE, and the secondary. Add in the forthcoming recruits, and we've got something special.
Posted by: LB | January 07, 2013 at 08:33 AM
LB..I agree with all you said. I hope Eddie Johnson will be back, he is easily the second best LB we got and a difference maker. I agree with Kirby..can't think of anyone else. Cornelius and Armbrister may provide some depht, but not really stand outs. Perhaps Gaines can help...but losing Paul hurts. The door is wide open for any freshman LB at this point. As for DT, I think Pierre and Moore will be improved this year and Porter could be back.
Posted by: UMike | January 07, 2013 at 08:43 AM
Canesport is reporting 4 EE's..I am not sure if that includes Sandland or not.
Posted by: UMike | January 07, 2013 at 08:45 AM
UMike...I hope that Johnson and Terry are BOTH back at LB for the Canes in 2013. Time will tell and we will hope for the best but nothing is guaranteed.
Posted by: 86Cane | January 07, 2013 at 08:51 AM
What happened with Paul? Did he just call "No D's" scheme stupid :-)
Posted by: dg | January 07, 2013 at 09:10 AM
It wouldn't surprise me if Ngakoue, Powell, or even Foster to get in on the 2013 class. Foster seems like a member of the "free trips to South Beach" crew, but at this point... it wouldn't shock me if he spurned the SEC and chose the UM hat.
I remember Quentin James whispered a while back. Can't think of anyone else.
Heck, anyone of them could start Week 1 and is virtually guaranteed more playing time than any of our competitors. A top 40 education doesn't hurt, either.
I hope Eddie Johnson returns. He seemed like someone who could make that Rohan Marley/Jon Beason-ish impact on UM and jump to the NFL. Dude was a statistical freak when he was in the game, and tough to scheme against.
Via Caneinsider: Seems like Standish Dobard is doing some major recruiting for us and using words like "dynasty."
Via Caneinsight: Reading between the lines, Whitfield's not going to UM.
Not sure if this was posted before, but here's some insight on AQM (looks like his nickname is "Quan," but AQM sounds cooler... sort of like a machine): http://www.stateoftheu.com/2013/1/5/3839484/commitment-review-alquadin-muhammad

Sonny Dykes talking to Football Scoop:
Execution is much more important than scheme. Dykes relayed an anecdote from when he served as a GA under Hal Mumme at Kentucky. The Wildcats had spent all August practicing two scripts, one 11 plays long and the other eight-plays long, with some situational plays (third-down, goal line, etc.) thrown in. For Kentucky's season opener against Louisville, Mumme brought just the eight play script, two third down plays and some goal line plays, bringing the total to 14. Running nothing but those 14 plays, Kentucky scored touchdowns on its first seven possessions.

LSU DL coach talking to Football Scoop:
Haley went through a number of drills LSU employs (heel line pursuit, six-point explosion) regularly in practice and provided answers throughout a lively question-and-answer session. One thing Haley, like all other coaches, stresses continuously is effort.
"I'm not going to spend an hour and a half every practice yelling at people to run after the ball," said Haley. "If you don't pursue the ball, you're not going to play. If you want to watch, sit in the stands."
Haley said that LSU stresses that each masters three pass rush moves instead of leaning eight or nine. "We don't ask a 300-pound player to learn a spin move. That's why they call us coaches."

Dear Mr. Emmert,
If the NCAA sends it's letter of allegations to Miami less than 2 weeks prior to the National Signing Day it will be very nasty to the recruits and it would be a very inappropriate timing. The NCAA is there first and foremost for the student athletes and not to tarnish their dreams. I hope you will show class and judgement about the timing of sending your letter of allegations concerning the revelations of one of the best liars in this world who stole 1 billion from experienced business people. Mr. Shapiro is behind bars for 25 years or more. Please punish the guilty people not the innoncents.
Thank You.
Just a huge fan of NCAA athletics

Something to make the stargazers jump back on the bandwagon, I presume. Golden's like the Honey Badger of the recruiting world, without the bong.
