Dallas Crawford won't transfer, loves the Canes and play at different positions...Good RB, great DB, good special teams player and the coaches have special packages for him. He was also a QB in HS ( Mr. wildcat...)

Canesfan_1

SMDH at our own fans talking about talented players transferring and predicting an unknown future and then to boot saying the reason he transfers is because of Sonny Michel and Augustus Edwards, guys picking their noses in 10th grade right now.

Yeah and I'm afraid Sonny Michel will transfer because of some eight grader we've never heard of. The fact is the coaches are really trying to get Crawford in there in different roles. Coke I'm not going after you that's your opinion but I don't agree at all, no offense to you.

Ohio_Cane

I think Dallas Crawford transfers soon if We get Collins & Edwards...

Valid point, but you're missing my thought. He can play d-back and running back. He is a phenomenal special teams player. He provides solid depth should any player get hurt. From what I've heard, he is a great teammate and hard worker. I don't think he WANTS to transfer.
Oh, ;)

OGV The Habs are winning without PK and the GM knows that he is larger than life and a bit of a trouble maker in the locker room. So they will probably come to an agreement but they won't give him as much $$$ as his agent is asking. They are letting him dry out a little.

When Subban will gain more maturity he will be outstanding and hopefully play for MTL.

I think you're missing Coke's thought, that if all that you state there is true (and I'm not going to argue against any of it because I'm accepting your premise as true), going into his upperclassmen years he's going to want more and if he starts to get lost in the shuffle of a retooled offense he's going to start thinking about his future in football and what's good for Dallas. (Which he's doing anyway right now if he's smart.)

Defense has played like soft-serve shat for two years now and there's no sign of it turning around soon so being the best DB in a horrid defense gets you Brandon McGee's future NFL draft status, Dallas probably won't be happy settling for what that's going to turn out to be.

UpNorthCane27

Lets be serious hockey fans no team out there is touching the Boston Bruins... My boy Tuka in net is an animal!!!

kenyon19ypr

I hear what you're saying. I wouldn't blink twice if I saw Dallas was transferring, but I highly doubt it happens. Not every kid wants to transfer just to play, some want to earn the spot over those top players to prove himself. Hopefully Crawford sticks around because he is an invaluable asset to the team, and that's what I think will happen.

CoCane

Well I'm not pretending to be psychic. I'm saying what would make sense without the orang & green glasses on. Also, I said (IF) we bring in those RB's. From what I've seen, He's not as talented as any of our RB's, WR's or DB's. I think he would have a better chance to play somewhere else. If the depth chart continues to reload without him moving up on it, I think he'll make the best move for his future & go find a school where he can get some PT.

The only reason I brought it up is because I want to see him succeed. Even if it's not at the "U". His chances of being a starter are getting cloudy. Jmo

orange 'n green in the vein

Monty, you think Max's appendectomy is going to speed the contract negotiation up or do you think it'll give PK's camp leverage to play hardball and make the front office more apt to deal him for a pick/prospect/player grab-bag? I don't think for a second that the French-Canadian Yankees of hockey can't afford to pay him his fair market value and settle this distraction while improving their roster today if they wanted to but obviously they figure either he's more hassle than he's worth at that price or like you suggest think he'll focus on playing rather than his own image by rolling the dice and letting him cool his jets while seeing how the playoff race shapes up this year for them.

OGV good point Max Pacioretty will be out at least 3 weeks.

Bergevin the Habs GM, Subban and agent Don Meehan met in Toronto Friday and the word is that the defenceman will use a couple of days to mull over his options. In the meantime, Subban's absence isn't going over well at a time when people are still recovering from the prolonged battle over a new CBA in the NHL. People -- including those in the Canadiens organization -- don't take kindly to another off-ice battle.

Back to the Canes OGV you knew well before me that Coach L was the real Deal. Who are the Canes who will be taken in the first two rounds of the next NBA draft?

Monty, honestly it's still too early to really make any definitive calls on that front but Reg is a low 1st, high 2nd round lock just on measurable attributes and potential, Kadji probably is playing himself into a draft pick contract at this rate and if he can prove in workouts he can shoot open NBA 3's somewhat reliably will get drafted 2nd round, Scott will have to improve his ball handling and might find a combo guard roll somewhere but draft is uncertain as he's got a lot of guys with better all around games now at his size to climb over after the season, Gamble probably not but has been fun to watch finally become a factor after five years, Trey is a decent college player but will be lucky to have Langdon from Duke's pro career minus the drafting part before going overseas to play for a while.

Larkin needs every year of physical development he can get in college, because at the next level he'll need to be able to absorb contact in the lane to be effective as a point guard, but I think will get drafted down the road and have the potential to be the best pro player on this team, or will at least until I can get a better read on some of the underclassmen bench players at least.

If Kadji can drain NBA three's, he'll be a factor on a playoff contender sometime in his career and Reggie will have a career that's a direct function of his commitment to all around physical conditioning going forward.

Now Willie, you of all people should understand that UM needed all the firepower it could muster for when the offense took their water-break, Dallas was a minor part of that and we all know that you need at least 42 points to beat ACC teams in football or else you're leaving the door open to a check mark in the L column so this mythical UM defensive backfield you refer too will just have to continue to do whatever it is they're coached to do (surrender 60+% completion rate to everyone they play from what I can tell so far?) without him and enjoy it.

Did Gabe Terry have any impact last year? I though he looked good in his HS highlights, but I didn't notice anything about him when watching the games last year. Would love to know.

Montreal-Cane

OGV good take...Larkin is my favorite player followed by Kadji. Yes Larkin will need to play his next two years with the Canes to reach full potential and get more stronger because he will take some nasty shots in the NBA. I hope he will be a Steve Nash type of players in his better days in the NBA.

OGV,

From the things being said by commentators & analysts. Kadji is the best pro prospect. Followed by Reggie, then Scott. I think Kadji can play his way into the middle of the 1st round. Whoelse in this draft is 6'10, can rebound, block shots, post up a little, get to the rim off of the dribble & shoot 3's?

Glad you went there because I had this typed out and erased it because I didn't want to sound too much like a homer. He's a better all around athlete than Nash, but Steve's a better ball handler and his ability to run a pro offense in 24 seconds is unparalleled in recent NBA history by everyone except Kidd so that's some upper echelon potential with HOF locks we're talking about here.

Coke, that's the thing, he's got a great face up game for a big man but can he shoot from 23 consistently like he does from 19 now? Does his jumper kind of remind you of Bill Cartwright's too or is that just me?

Kadji's draft status is all going to hinge on his private workouts IMO because of that question and if it's an affirmative answer then he's got a chance to be a NBA factor, if it's a negative he's going to have to develop a real back to the basket game to even stick and I'm not sure he's as well equipped to do that as Reggie is. Is he a poor man's Dirk or a poor man's Gasol at the next level? He's more likely Gasol IMO.

OGV,

I know you ain't just compare Kadji's game to Gasol or Dirk. ('o') Lol! C'MON MAAAAAAN!!! He's quicker & has better handles than both of them. He's a better defender than them & just flat out more athletic.

I would compare his game to Rashad Lewis but a better defender. Not quite as good of a shooter but that just takes more reps.

I do agree that it's going to come down to his individual work outs to solidify where he'll be drafted.

WAIT A MINUTE! I just saw where I missed you comparing his shot Cartwright. CARTWRIGHT??? Really... :-/

Lmao! You're hilarious. I love your sense of humor.

Then you compared Larkin to Nash??? Smh. I'll never smoke what you smoke.

Larkin reminds of a young Mike Bibby. Extremely quick & fast with the ball. Doesn't rack up a high number of assists but runs the offense with great tempo, makes good decisions & hits clutch shots.

Your football knowledge is better than your basketball knowledge my friend...

Khadji is like a R. Lewis, but a better help defender. A lil more size on him too.

Larkin is a lil like a mighty mouse to me.

Coke, I said poor man's version, meaning he's not a legit 7 feet like those two and he doesn't have that low to high post game that those two feature, Gasol obviously way more than Dirk even though the taller German Larry Bird has actually started to become a threat out of there. You don't see a little hitch there with the foot placement and wrist release with Kenny? He's not a smooth release on that jumper to me when I watch him right now but if he can drain it from the pro arc, don't mess with it, if he can't, he's needs to iron that out to increase his effective shooting range or else use that athleticism to compensate inside the arc. Also not sure how well he blocks shots he has to move to get a swipe at yet, he's very good in his area but I don't know if he can be a help block threat at this point, again, all these questions increase his ceiling the more he answers in his workouts with an affirmative and decrease his ceiling as he has to come up with something to compensate for negative answers to the same.

I can see the Bibby comparison with Larkin, Mike could fill it up a little more than Shane probably will and I actually think Shane has a very well developed floor vision for his experience level right now that Mike never bothered to develop thus the end of his career a lot quicker than Nash's. Shane was in striking distance of a triple-double last night so with better shooting from his teammates can become a points/assists double/double type of guy at the next level I think. Is he a legit six feet tall yet is my concern with him really because I can see prototype or super-sized point and combo guards making it tough on him defensively in addition to the ability to offensively absorb contact and still finish/find open teammates in the paint.

orange 'n green in the vein

Oh and while those Lewis comparisons aren't the total kiss of death to a player coming out of college like they could have been 8 years ago it does beg the question if they're valid, is Kenny's roid doctor better or worse than Rashad's?

Hassan

Khadji is older then Kevin Durant, who has been in the NBA for 6 years....

Montreal-Cane

It's great that we talk about our basketball team...I love it!

CoCane

Reggie Johnson is a taller Glen "Big Baby" Davis without the hops.

Don't sleep on McKinnie-Jones NBA potential. He's got the body, can shoot & has the hops. His problem is, he doesn't have handles. If he could get to the rim off of the dribble, he would definitely get drafted.

Durand Scott actually plays like Dwayne Wade. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the elite quickness & hops. He really reminds me of Stucky for the Pistons.

Bottom Line:

Kenny Kadji- Mid to late 1st round
Reggie Johnson- Late 1st round to early 2nd round
Durand Scott- 2nd round
Trey McKinnie-Jones- MAYBE 2nd round if at all
Julian Gamble- Undrafted

Shane Larkin- Even though he's only 5'10. He's got elite quickness & speed. With higher assist numbers, his on ball defense & a more consistant perimeter shot. If he has a really big year next season. He could leave as a junior & go as a late lottery or mid 1st round. That's his cieling.

j.w.

Agree, Monty! Thansk for all the updates- I'm buried with work today and coming here catches me up to speed quickly.
