WWIN

But since UMike has Mario playing a well known Eagles song ("Already Gone") on his car radio then we might as well go ahead and hire WWIN to take his place. He is a better recruiter anyway. LOL

You sound like a man that knows what he's talkin about!!!

UMike

86..everyone knows Mario should a be a head coach at a big time program..and I assume that is also what he wants. I think everyone knew the Mario hire was temporary, that he is destined for bigger things. At this moment in time, being on the staff at Alabama gives you a better shot at a head coaching gig than his current position. Not missing my "sippy cup", just being real. If Mario was ALL CANE (as in employment, not family) he would have never interviewed for the job...imo of course

UM 0, Rutgers 0

Game 1, Canes coming to bat, bottom of the fourth.

Listening to WVUM. So far, the baseball team is the football team inverted: All D, no O.

There's a deer antler velvet spray extract joke in here somewhere that I could deliver if I just kept searching around for it but it's the weekend and I'm phoning it in now that the NHL is in playoff sprint mode so instead I'm just going to have to type;

LOL.

As an OL coach, Cristobal much, much < Stoutland.

As an NCAA anchor sinking you to the bottom it's the other way around.

### An associate of Mario Cristobal pointed to a significant salary increase as one reason for his interest in the Alabama offensive line coaching job. Cristobal interviewed Friday.

TIE BALLGAME! Hernandez registers his first hit as a Hurricane, plating Broad from third; Mack up with runners on the corners and no outs B6.

VtB_Cane

QB David Thompson 2 RBI single for a 3-1 lead (Bottom 6th) ... Go Canes!

86Cane

VtB...Barry Jackson knows less about things than everyone realizes. U don't think that U could have written that same: "More money at Bama" quote? LOL

VtB...I like your style! Can U do the game call for us?

Hassan, what event is this time in? 200 meters?

VfB_Cane

86 - it'll be a pleasure. Can't do game 2 though, as it'll be well past midnight here in Europe.

VfB_Cane

Nedeljkovic taking over for Diaz top of the 7th, takes the batters down 1-2-3. Canes still up 3-1.

Canesfan_1

There are a MILLION good and valid reasons why Mario would go on this interview AND why Golden would want him to. I do not have time to go into them right now but trust me I will in a future blog feature. Now, I am off to but some more hair gel...I am running low again.

How much you want to bet it went down like this:

1. Cristobal's agent calls him and says Alabama is interested in interviewing you for the OL job, and it pays X number of dollars (significantly more than his current UM salary) and you have a good chance of getting it if you interview.

2. Cristobal tells agent "wow, that's a lot of money, and Alabama knows how to win NCs. More money, higher profile, better future opportunities. What's not to like? Tell them I would love to interview"

3. Cristobal calls Golden and says, "listen, Al, I'm on my way to the airport to interview at Alabama, so I'm not coming in today, I hope you don't mind" Golden is taken aback, but says ok,, while muttering under his breath, "you son of a b----, you're making me look bad" and thinking that sob is going to be recruiting against me if he gets the job.

.
That's a much more real world scenario, in my opinion, than Golden being all fine and dandy with it because Mario's on some double secret probation spy mission and courtesy interview with Saban. Lets talk real world here.

VfB_Cane

Too many guys striking out looking. Still up 3-1 after 7, might have to win it with D. Any football coaches in attendance ? ;-)

BJ's alright.
Matter of fact, IIRC, He was the one that hinted that Arthur Brown wanted to transfer, before anybody on CS knew about it.

roachcane77

In the end... It's all about the Benjamin$, (both immediate, and down the road as he adds to his resume.)

I think he goes. (If asked... )

I agree with Canesteeler though... Mario SHOULDN'T be going to another college team now, (unless he was offered a Head Coaching gig somewhere, IMHO.)

Schweaty Balls

Its ridiculous how some of you get all over these kids after 6 innings of baseball in the first game of the season. Give me a break, I was not aware Rutgers was not division 1 and we are starting a playing a bunch of new, young players. Winning 2 of 3 with a depleted pitching staff would be a great weekend for this team.

VfB_Cane

One single off Nedeljkovic top of 8th but nothing else ... Canes 3, Rutgers 1.

VfB_Cane

Lopez leads off with a single, advances to third on sacrifice bunt & fly, but is stranded at 3rd. Canes take a 3-1 lead into top of 9th.
Salcines in, 3 outs to go.

Man, you just caused the infection to spread IMO. It's like saying the name 'Candyman' while looking in the mirror three times in a row and then turning out the lights in Cabrini-Green, you're asking for trouble and shouldn't be surprised when it shows up.

86Cane

Lets talk real world here.

Your "real world" is very different from mine. I can see clearly now that your focusing lense may be a littled clouded with negativity and self-interest.

But hey, I'm jus sayin...

86Cane

Rhuh Rhoo...Tie game 3-3 top of the ninth between UM and Runtgers.

86Cane

Runtgers 4, Canes 3 after Salcines throws a pick off throw away at first. Two outs, one on base for The Scarlet Knights top of the ninth.

VfB_Cane

Rutgers takes 4-3 lead as Salcines struggles (3 runs off 3 hits & 2 walks).

Canes need to come back in bottom of 9th.
Let's go Canes!

BEERicane

There is a reason this canes team starts the year unranked. Hopefully the tourney streak doesn't come to an end this year. However, I'd trade baseball success for bball success any day.

Canesfan_1

I really don't get why a difference in opinion turns into a personal attack, but hey, that's just me.

The self-interest part makes no sene at all

I'm just expressing an opinion, if you would like for me not to comment, and only want viewpoints that agree with yours, please just say so. Otherwise, it's not that big a deal.

Canesfan_1

This is killing me. It's just the first game, but I saw this script too many times last year.

VfB_Cane

Runners on 2nd and 3rd after Rutgers walks two + a bunt. Now if somebody could just hit the ball over the wall ...

86Cane

Canesfan_1...no U are cool and I respect your opinion, we just disagree. It is EXACTLY what blogs are for in the first place, TO DISAGREE.

I just think people see what they want to see AND believ what they want to believe. The scenario U described above never even entered my mind. Doesn't make you right and me wrong or vice-versa, it is just very interesting how perspectives differ from person to person, that's all.

Fieger hit by pitch to load the bases with 1 out, bottom of 8th, Canes down 4-3.

... bottom of 9th, of cause.

Good call VfB...LET'S GO CANES!!!

Please please please

Sorry, instinctual (over)reaction to one of the greats still doing the damn thing at UM.

Alright canes! Now let's go get the second

Canesfan_1

Where six be at?

Canesfan_1

Lol@ OGV, that was a good one

Sophomore C Garret Kennedy pinch hitting for Eusebio becomes the hero of the day for the baseball team. Great & exciting way to start the season.

Man OH man, how I wish I woulda said: "I GOT THIS" in time for the BIG win. U even teed it up for me and a whiffed! LOL

VfB_Cane

From the "never trust individual stats" department: Diaz and Nedeljkovic do a great job pitching through the first 8 innings, Salcines gives up 3 runs in the 9th and picks up the win. The team is 1-0 though, which is the one stat that DOES matter.

Canesfan_1

Not getting on the kid, and it's too early to get on one kid, but we need to figure out a way get some more reliability in our closers. How you do that, I don't know. Maybe closing by committee until you get the hot hand.
