The O has been out of synch bigtime, and they don't have much time to get things back on track. Gotta hope that Larranage gets things worked out before ACC tnmt. play starts, or for that matter, before the game at Duke when there is potential for a blowout of similar proportions in the opposite direction. It's almost like this team needs to lose a game already to get the monkey off their back. Gotta hit FTs, as Mich. State knows too well given how many they blew in the last five min. of their game at home vs. a polished and cool IU team. Larkin has to start looking for and making his shots again. His passing is nice, his drives are quick and the ability to make all of this happen more commonly is way reduced if he can't make his jumpers. The first half they decided to get too fancy with the style of O and types of passes, and they paid. Just because they're ranked #2 doesn't mean they've earned the right to be handed Ws.

All of those negative sounding comments aside, they've got a ton of talent and a lot of potential to make a deep run. They have to show the type of cool to make other teams play their game, unlike happened in the last two games, as well as have Larkin at his best and the team hitting FTs. Looking forward to the next few weeks.

As for the NOA, this is getting to be way more than a soap opera. Just let me know when it's resolved and how.....

Nice signing today, assuming he qualifies.

Im up for it. I'll mess that sob up. Eating from a straw for six months.

BTW, if anyone thinks Pres. Shalala didn't expect this type of notice over the last few days, they are foolish. There clearly was a preemptive strike by the letter regarding the NCAA investigation yesterday

TonyCane

I would hope not. Although I could see some temptation by the athletic department if the offer was time served, no scholarship reductions...if you take the basketball ban.

Sarasota 'cane

I wonder if back channel communications have taken place between the NCAA and Miami in which part of the price for an early settlement is one last post-season ban...this time for the basketball team.

Are we just making crap up now? They're not settling and there isn't a back room deal. The NCAA hates us to the point that they are now falling on every sword in their weapons room to bury us.

This shyt just got real personal and real legal.

Gators lose lol

It's Great to be a Miami Hurricane

And the canes need to start converting beyond the Arc. 3 point shooting has been atrocious. Sign of a good team though to overcome no 3ball and poor FT shooting.

I knew this NCAA vs theU would get ugly. To the courtroom!

I don't want them to. I want Shalala to employ every weapon in her arsenal. Pull every string, from the White House on down.

JCane

Absolutely they need to start hitting 3 pt. shots. The key is that the team got a load of wins, finished killing off UNC, moved up the rankings fast, and now seem to be playing offense in fear...or other teams appear to suddenly know how to defense the O the U was running, but it doesn't really look like that's the primary explanation.

As for Pres. Shalala's approach here, just read the last line of her statement, which was very carefully worded by simply choosing the word "trust" rather than "hope."

There is a veiled message/threat to the NCAA with this wording. This clearly was reviewed carefully by the legal staff.

So, can we just do what the NCAA did and fire the coaches responsible? OK, done, let's move on.

j.w.

Of course they did, J- last night's statement was more about Shalala realizing she had nothing to lose by blowing off steam, getting the alumni fired up, and giving the media their next great story. We're on the battle field now, later than I would have liked, and the news is likely to get worse as details leak out, but at least we're taking on these sombitches with both barrels blazing from every window. The NCAA wants to fight tot he death? I say bring it on. Justice Dept., courts of law, public opinion, I really don't care what the forum is, just bring it. And rescind any campus bans given to any former players- they were right not to cooperate with this witch hunt, encouraging them to cooperate did us no favors.

I believe the magic number for the basketball team to clench the ACC title now stands at two. I'm just saying . . .

I know one of you guys are good enough with photoshop to make Mt. Canesmore happen. Schnell, Jimmy, Irvin and Ray Ray. Bernie not on the Mt. Maybe he can get a memorial?

I was thinking the same thing. I would do it but unfortunately I only know how to type and surf the net, lol.

NY Trooper

Emmert is a hypocrite. The U has a lack of institutional control but he doesn't? If I completed investigations like Emmert and his enforcement team my findings would all be thrown out and I would be reprimanded.

3 OGV; 5 left, 3 game lead- we need a combo of 3 wins/Duke losses to clinch. 2 to tie, thoguh.

Yeah, if they're going forward after what's already come to light, they know that the criticism will be inTENSE. And they don't care. They're coming for Miami hard no matter what happens.

Which means there's going to be a lawsuit. At least one lawsuit.

djl

i think they should really do it. no time better than with canes a top ranked basketball team. leave the ncaa.
