Sapp spent 13 seasons in the NFL (198 games), playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1995-2003) and the Oakland Raiders (2004-07). A first-round pick (12th overall) by Tampa Bay in the 1995 NFL Draft, Sapp started for the Bucs en route to earning All-Rookie Team honors in 1995. He amassed 96.5 career sacks despite playing on interior of defensive line.
He was named 1999 NFL Defensive Player of the Year after helping lead Tampa Bay to its first division title in 18 years. That season, Sapp registered 12.5 sacks, 54 tackles, three forced fumbles and recovered two fumbles. A year later, he recorded a career-high 16.5 sacks in 2000. He led the Buccaneers to a 48-21 win over Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII. He was a first-team All-Pro four straight seasons and was All-NFC five times.
A second-team All-NFL selection in 1997 and 1998, he was selected to seven Pro Bowls and was named to the NFL's All-Decade Teams of the 1990s and 2000s. Sapp finished his professional career with 569 tackles, 96.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and four interceptions.
Sapp's prolific career with the University of Miami led to his selection by Tampa Bay in the 1995 NFL Draft. A two-time All-BIG EAST selection, Sapp was awarded the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (best defensive player), Rotary Lombardi Award (best lineman or linebacker) and the Bill Willis Award (best defensive lineman) in 1994. He earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year honors the same year, finishing the season with 84 tackles, 10.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recovers.
Sapp becomes the sixth Miami Hurricane enshrined in Canton, joining Ted Hendricks (Class of 1990), Michael Irvin (2007), Jim Kelly (2002), Cortez Kennedy (2012) and Jim Otto (1980).

Keef just wanted to troll for female Twitter followers in his city of choice for the next four years and got shut down? So he got trolled by FAMU or all places? How embarrassing for Keef.

2pm tomorrow, #12 Louisville vs. #25 Marquette. One more potential chance to move up, although none of it matters if the U just takes care of business. Like I'd said a few blogs ago, the fantasy matchup would be the U continuing to win right up until a rematch at Duke. Tough to not blow a game or two though, as almost happened this afternoon against a good NCSt. team, but without one of its top players on the hardwood.

### The UM/Denver Kirkland soap opera ended Saturday, when Kirkland met with UM coaches and decided not to attend Miami, according to his step-father, who said Denver will choose FSU or Arkansas.
But why did UM pull its scholarship offer to the Booker T. Washington All-American on Thursday? A UM source said here was the thinking at the time: Kirkland had a Hurricanes offer for nine months (he chose not to accept a take-it-or-leave-it offer from UM on Thursday) and UM coaches felt he was playing games with them. Plus, UM had some silent commitments at the time and was expecting a full class (17 or 18) without him. Al Golden doesn’t like to over-sign and force players to gray shirt or go to prep school.
But Golden changed his mind for reasons that he might clarify on National Signing Day. Unfortunately for UM, it was too late. Kirkland met with several Hurricanes assistant coaches on Saturday, but they couldn't persuade him after Thursday's initial yanking of the offer.
UM president Donna Shalala also called the Kirkland family, but that didn't sway him, either. Booker T. Washington coaches believe Kirkland would have picked UM if the offer hadn't been retracted Thursday.
### It’s even more critical that UM lures Alex Collins or Augustus Edwards because backup running back Eduardo Clements has been wearing a neck brace, and his status in very much in question. UM could use incoming Ray Lewis III as a running back, instead of defensive back, if needed.
UM has been pitching Collins - who will announce Monday - that he would share carries with Duke Johnson. Returnees Danny Dillard and Dallas Crawford also are in the mix.
### Draft analysts say UM forward Kenny Kadji has helped his stock, but ESPN’s Jay Bilas and Chad Ford don’t see him as a first-round, partly because he turns 25 in May. “He has helped himself because of his ability to knock down shots, but for a first-round pick, you want someone not [that old],” Bilas said.
Ford isn’t convinced he will even be drafted: “He’s a good rebounder and shot blocker, but not a great one. At that age, scouts expect you to dominate players younger than you.”

To all of the many unfortunate, ignorant and desperate Seminole fans reading this Hurricane blog:
Thank U for paying attention! I have never been to, or even read, or much less tried to follow a 'Noles blog in my life. The fact that U even read this blog or come here to try to justify your existence is simply stunning to me and embarrassing for U.
But since U guys are so obviously obsessed with The U (and wide right and occasionally left), I am here to tell U that the rules have changed, yes indeed the recruiting game is being played by a completely different set of rules.
First of all we just hired your best recruiter and offensive "coordinator" away from FSU. From a State school with State supported salaries and pensions to a private school with NONE of that. How does THAT happen?
Now I will repeat my previous message just in case U missed it the first time so listen closely:
Just a word of advice to all high school football recruits out there: hat tricks are for kids, so commit to Miami while you can.
And please, whatever U do, don't get "Kirklanded".

SOUP...I don't know bout' know UAAA game, but legend has it, that the same way those boys chase rabbits in the Muck, is the same way they pull up tree trunks in Madison County.
There's some good players that come out that program, Chris Thompson to name one.

86- I watched a little of Denson but not enough to give a bigger scouting report. He was quick on his feet from what I saw and very good at changing direction. Other than that, he just looks like a prototypical run blocker. I'll let the experts get more in-depth haha
Posted by: kenyon19ypr | February 03, 2013 at 12:13 AM
And I believe he cancelled the visit for the same reason Miami pulled the Kirkland offer.

Kenyon...wait, what? Miami pulled the Kirkland offer? Where did U hear that?
Posted by: 86Cane | February 03, 2013 at 12:19 AM
My favorite statement of this heavy recruiting season is from 86 TO RECRUITS:
"Now I will repeat my previous message just in case U missed it the first time so listen closely:
Just a word of advice to all high school football recruits out there: hat tricks are for kids, so commit to Miami while you can.
And please, whatever U do, don't get "Kirklanded"."

Monty...I will send U some emails that will melt your brain.
Posted by: 86Cane | February 03, 2013 at 12:37 AM
I am glad UM pulled Kirkland's offer. Early in he 2012 season, I heard a BTW coach brag that Kirkland had a UM offer. I did not hear the coaches talk about the other offers. The Canes also had a great presence at BTW games, and if they saw what I saw, they saw a good, not great, offensive lineman in Kirkland. The coaches also saw a great player in Thomas (actually, the junior Thomas is also very good(. I also just feel there is something fishy about Kirkland, and I am not sure if we will ever know.
The fact that this controversy made it to this point and that Kirkland's finalists are now FSU and Arkansas also tells me a lot about Coach Harris.
Coach Harris should be careful because there are many 7th, 8th and 9th graders and their parents who love the U, and they will switch school zones in a heart-beat for a high school that has a pipeline to UM.

The process of "de-recruiting" these guys can be challenging as well. I guess it goes like this.
Coach: we are just so glad you commited here. Welcome to your first practice. Sure you can finish texting, I'll wait. So before we hit, knock out 10 110's for me. (an hour later). Well great, that's a little slower than than we wanted, but heck you have 1000 twitter followers,so that more than makes up for the lack of speed and stamina. Next lets do some two on ones. As a dt you will get double teamed by two guys that weigh 300lbs. So way don't you line up here across from Linder and Henderson. Just fight thru their double team and tackle the dummy. Let them know about your Facebook friends first. That way while they are in aw of you, you can hit this dummy. By the way this is the dummy you probably will not touch it for your first year or so.

Yes, they are the realest of deals. I wanted them to beat NC State yesterday in the worst way - mainly because we were mistreated by some of their fans at a football game that we lost. Was kinda like sitting with Hokie fans.

Congrats to Warren Sapp for his selection. I do not care for him as a person, but it cannot be denied that he was a force at the U and in the NFL. The man could flat out play with the best of them, and he played to win.
He talks too much, but then, I have talked too much on occassion on here and been a dumbazz as well...sorry folks!!! Bottom line, I would keep a leash...rather a muzzle on him from time to time.....but I would have him on my DL at the U, TB, Oakland....or my little team. I want guys who give it their all and want to win, hate to lose.
Congrats Warren!!!
Hope NSD will be good, I think we have done our homework. You do not like situations like Kirkland, but move on. I could never figure out why a FSU cat would even come in here. I read nobody elses blog....dont care or need to. What gives? Go home young man, read about your team, and leave us alne we do not need the input; I feel the same about me on your blog...None of my Beeswax.
VA Country Azz Cane!!!
Good luck to all Canes in the SB today!!!
Posted by: VA Cane | February 03, 2013 at 10:33 AM
Warren Sapp was almost good enough to beat the Tommy Frazier-led Nebraska Cornhuskers by himself. I have trouble remembering many teams that put better offensive lines on the field than that 1994 'Huskers team, but Sapp was bringing guys down in the backfield all night long.
So he's not exactly a classy dude. There are more than a couple 'Cane greats you can say that about. The dude could play DT as well as anybody.

FYI, I think Ryheem Lockley will choose Canes. He'll be going Prep first, though.
