I'm calling 9 wins for us this year, but 10 is a strong possibility.
Posted by: CaneFan47 | February 25, 2013 at 03:35 PM
Fan47...nine wins is the ABSOLUTE minumum with that schedule. Ten is the number to shoot for, with 11 very doable.

It's gonna be cold in Pitt! But I definitely would like to get a CaneSpace group there!

Don't mind playing 1 cupcake (FAU) but is it necessary to play 2 (Sav. ST) "Common Man"! Stevie Wonder could win 9 games QBing that schedule but it is time we got a break for once.

SSIB...Here is the way I see it:
9-3 is the BOTTOM.
10-2 is expected.
11-2 gets lucky.
Posted by: 86Cane | February 25, 2013 at 10:19 PM
Why are canes fans so happy on twitter that Hurt is going to get hammered?if they prove the money with him. Does that not spell bad for
us ? He was working for UM. What am I am missing?
Posted by: Mcginns ale house | February 25, 2013 at 10:29 PM
This is my take 9-4 Bottom, 10-3 is okay, 11-3 expected, 12-2 or better and I am raising the Roof. Btw can our Canespace Crew have our meeting spot like will the Hampton Inn in Plantation stay the home spot, maybe we can have a Canespace hotel meeting spot in Tampa and Tally.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | February 25, 2013 at 10:29 PM
Good point from a reader at the Herald:
"If Hurtt mislead the NCAA while he was employed at Louisville, is Miami being held responsible for that? He left Miami in January, 2010.
If some of these allegations are true, and it appears they have been corroborated by some of the student-athletes, then is Hurtt going to be allowed to continue to coach in 2013?
How would Randy Shannon, the AD, etc. know what Hurtt was doing if he acted in secret? How would UM maintain institutional control over an assistant coach who violates the rules of his employer, in secret?

#6 KU is potentially on the verge of losing at great at-home Iowa State with 23 sec. left and down by 2.
Also, the Lunardi bracketology now places the U as a #2 seed, which means nothing given that Duke is up on the road on 3/2 and there is an ACC tnmt. dead ahead. In addition, VTech is up at home on Weds., which will be an interesting time to gauge how the team bounces back after the truly lackluster loss and prior couple of games. FWIW, VTech had been on their own nice losing streak until taking down the 'Noles yesterday, so the timing is nice. I see the Canes starting slow but hopefully gradually coming back into form before the game finishes. They kinda forgot to cover VT leading scorer Green too well the last time out.
ISU now up by 2 over KU with 5 sec. left. Down to the end. A FT makes it a one point game.
Posted by: JCane | February 25, 2013 at 11:15 PM
KU ties it at 90, nice FT shooting in the clutch. An OT game, but I'm done for the night. Looking forward to Weds. evening with VT coming to town. A nice double-digit win would get the excitement rolling again pre-Duke. A loss would make the Duke game a chance for the Dukies to tie the U for the ACC lead. I just don't see this team not finding some balance again in this game though, unless there truly are some problems going on.

The schedule is PERFECT! FAU is a perfect warm up for the key to a we are back season. We have to beat Florida at home. We have to own our stadium again. I hope its crazy hot. 110 and dripping with humidity. We beat them and we are ranked. Florida is the key to undefeated. We lose to them and no one respects us until FSU. I'm happy this game is at home. Then we get a week off to prep for a cupcake and then two schools that will really want to make us slip. We really have to stay focused and come out undefeated. We should beat USF. They may score with us if our D is still the worst in the country. GTech is GTech. They play a style that we can beat but can cause injuries. We will need a very focused week to prepare. The following week is a bye leading into a team that we need to put back in its place. We need to focus. The whole bye week and leave their program in shambles. Wake Forest strikes me as the trapgame here. If we are undefeated and highly to mid ranked, wake will want to knock us off. It will be the week before FSU. Again, the fans HAVE to take back Miami. The Canes have to focus on owning home and take care of some work. FSU is FSU. They count a lot. We should both be ranked going into this game. Loser gets a chance at payback in the ACCCG. This test is huge. Can we go to Tally and pull it off? If so. The Canes are BACK. Swagger is back if we win this game. If not, VTech may be a litter tougher in the next game. But we still need to win every home game. At Duke the following week will be to get our backups some playing time and starters healthy so we can come home and BEAT THE LIVING S#*T OUT OF UVA!!! Going to Pitt will be a polite business trip. Canes nation needs to show them some love up there. Then its off to the ACCCG against FSU who we either will be wanting to put them down again, or be looking to get some revenge. Then its off to whateverbowl we get into. Al Golden has a quality team coming back next season. He should do well. I think he will.
Posted by: The Dude | February 25, 2013 at 11:35 PM
Dude (literally). If we don't beat FSU on the road, we won't get another chance. Not only does Clemson return more talent but Clemson gets FSU at home this year. They're going to spank the Noles in death valley. Also, don't sleep on Louisville in the Atlantic division. That Pitt game will be cold as fukk in late November. That game won't be a gimmie if Pitt has a decent team.
Potential losses:
vs Florida
at UNC
vs VT
at FSU
at Pitt
I say 9-3 regular season, 10-4 overall. The defense will be better but not as good as we hope. The offense will be dominant enough to get us to the ACC champ game.
Posted by: CoCane | February 26, 2013 at 12:15 AM
UNC lost all world Giovanni Bernard who single handily beat us last year so not sweating UNC. VagTECH got them at home no reason to lose that game. The Pittsburgh game can be tricky but my guess is if its for a chance to go to Charlotte we pull it out.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | February 26, 2013 at 12:38 AM
UNC is still a road game & it's not like they don't recruit good talent. Bernard's replacement won't be as good as him but I bet he'll be solid. There defense still has players. Who do we have on defense? Who's our DC??? Defense wins games on the road & we have too many questions on defense to be assuming victory on the road. VT returns a lot. That game will be tough even though we're at home. Most likely the Pitt game will cold. Don't forget how the Phins & Canes play in the cold. I'm just being real...
Posted by: CoCane | February 26, 2013 at 12:57 AM
I think we'll lose 2 or 3 of those tough games...
