After losing the first two games of the weekend series against the Blue Devils, your Miami Hurricanes rebounded like Jimmy Graham or Kenny Kadji and beat Duke behind a dominant start from lefthander Andrew Suarez.
On Sunday, just a day after Kadji and the rest of the proud UM hoopsters finished the regular season on top of the ACC in basketball, the 24th ranked 'Canes finished off its series against visiting Duke with an impressive 5-3 win at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.
Suarez (2-1) went a career-high seven innings in the victory, scattering six hits while allowing just one earned run. The Miami, Fla., native, who struggled last time out against Florida, rebounded with a dominant outing to help the hosts take their first conference win of 2013.
After falling behind 1-0 early, the Hurricanes (13-4, 1-2 ACC) responded with a three-run third inning to take their first lead of the weekend. First-year shortstop Brandon Lopez opened the inning with a walk from Duke righthander Robert Huber (2-1). After allowing a second consecutive free pass to first baseman Christopher Barr, who was making his first career start in the field, Huber was pulled in favor of reliever Michael Matuella.
The pitching change wouldn’t slow down Miami, however, as a two-RBI single from Chantz Mack and an RBI single from Alex San Juan helped guide the Hurricanes to a 3-1 lead. Miami would tack on two more in the sixth, on a one-out single from Alex Hernandez that plated catcher Garrett Kennedy and
a sacrifice fly from Mack which scored Brandon Lopez.
The Blue Devils (8-7, 2-1 ACC) would get one back in the eighth on a solo shot from Jordan Betts off AJ Salcines. But senior Eric Nedeljkovic pitched a scoreless ninth inning, earning his first save of the 2013 season.
The Hurricanes host a midweek set with visiting Illinois State beginning Tuesday, March 12 before traveling to No. 1 North Carolina for a weekend series in Chapel Hill on Friday, March 15.

Daddeh, where U been?

Well, 1 out of 3 is better than 0-3... (not MUCH better... but better.)
However, in the end... football is all that REALLY matters. (To me.)

Hi Tom,
We actually mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we were switching to Impermium to handle spam:
http://everything.typepad.com/blog/2013/02/retiring-typepad-anti-spam-and-switching-to-impermium.html
In that post, we specifically state that there may be a temporary uptick in spam and it's likely that's what you're experiencing. We're sorry it's so frustrating for you, and that you feel that our tech people are the worst in the business - which actually isn't true. Spam is a massive and *very* tricky problem to overcome and some growing pains are expected with any improvement like this.
We want you to be happy wherever you blog, so if you wish to seek out a different place to blog, we'd be bummed to see you go but we'd be happy to help you move if needed. We're always happy to help with anything you need but abusing the support team is not the way forward, I'm afraid, regardless of how frustrated you might be.
Please let us know if we can help with anything, okay?
Thanks,
Melanie

Now not only are your tech people the worst in the business but now your help people are too. "Abusing your help team?" Oh what poor little victims you Typepad people are. I feel so sorry for you. Maybe IF you cared about your customers and actually HELPED them and FIXED some of the problems instead of creating them you might even stay in business. But since fixing problems and helping your customers is not your priority and LECTURING them is then you will certainly FAIL. I want to move to move my blog to wordpress. Can you HELP me do that?

Me: Your people are incompetent.
TypePad: "Well since we can't fix out product, and since it doesn't work correctly, maybe you should go to our chief competitor whose product is better and does not have these issues."
Me: OK, how do I do that?

Tom-
As mentioned previously, we are doing what we can to resolve the issues with spam comments as quickly as possible. While we hope you will be patient as we continue to roll out the new anti-measures, we understand if you wish to transfer to a blogging service which you believe will better meet your needs. Since the conversation in this thread is no longer productive, we are closing the ticket. Feel free to open a new ticket if you have questions about exporting your content.

Roach...and that is just the TIP of the iceberg. This back and forth with TypePad has been going on for WEEKS. I have sent them 20 or more messages complaining about their product. It started innocently enough: "Can U help me with"...but then it got UGLY and their attitude is the worst.
If not for Ohio and OGV helping me behind the scenes this place would have been obsolete about two weeks ago. Those guys saved the blog, literally and REALLY they deserve thanks from me and everyone here.

From Pete Ariz..
Rumor passed along to me
FSU is trying to hire somebody with ties to South Florida and a name that's being talked about is Homestead HC Pat Burrows. If that happens, Lane is a Nole.

Wow, the typepad friends behind the scenes seem like real jerkoffs. Kisses to Melanie and Jen and their wonderful product.
Good luck making it work.

I think these new recruiting rules are gonna hurt Miami. These other schools with money are going to hire local guys or guys with tie here to non-coaching positions JUST to recruit. Miami cant match that. Staff will have to step up big time.

While the rumor of Burrows to FSU may be true, the latter about Lane being a Nole if that happens is BS.
He's not THAT close to Burrows.
Oh, and he's related to Barrow.

Ohio..I can agree with you on that..I just dont like these schools like Bama, FSU, USF etc coming in and hiring local guys or guys with strong ties to south florida strictly for recruiting. These are gonna be non-coaching hires. I hope Miami gets Bennet at least.
Posted by: UMike | March 11, 2013 at 09:51 AM
For those of you concerned about the baseball team, don't expect this to be a banner year. Earlier, I predicted they go 34-22 based on the youth of the roster and 2 vet pitchers not being at full strength.
Morris lost quit a few players coming in to the draft, the question I have is his backup plans to replace these guys, he knows are never going to set foot on campus. Anything can happen in baseball. The sorriest team in the world can beat you if you don't hit. Losing 2 out of 3 to Duke is pitiful. It's getting to be like that Sonny & Cher song from years gone by "And The Beat Goes On". Morris hasn't forgotten how to coach but His back -up plan B's are a little to be desired.Just like football, Good baseball players are all over the place down their, it's a recruiters heaven and somehow he keeps missing the boat, maybe it's time for some new blood. Winning thirty something games is good but with all the talent at his feet, forty something wins a year, should be a piece of cake. We are losing 8 to 10 games more a year, than we should. If Miami is playing 56 games, the worst our record should be in a bad year is 38-18. We are having to many bad years in a row!

UMike, I don't think recruits really buy into that tactic. God willing, if the sanctions aren't too severe, with Barrow,Brown, and Coley on the staff, I think we'll have South Florida ON LOCK!...HERMETICALLY SEALED!!!

Glad U said it first. Totally agree 100%.
Posted by: SOUP | March 11, 2013 at 10:56 AM
Very concerned with the hardballers the last few years, and the stoney brook loss was well embarrassing. Where is our man six on this? A small ball oriented team is fine but the fundamental break downs are just brutal.
On a brighter note the hardwood hurricanes are certainly are putting it together for a run! I'm actually happier if they are a 2 or 3 seed cause I think a lil edge does embarrassing good! Go Canes!
Posted by: fmcane | March 11, 2013 at 11:13 AM
CaneRock..it is not that these kids will or wont buy into it..it is about numbers. if FSU has double the amount of guys recruiting our area..and with these kids wanting to be "shown love", and with the rules allowing for WAY MORE contact, and earlier contact, if could hurt. Just saying our staff will have their work cut out lol

86, regarding Wordpress: I don't mind it. It's different and not as colorful (orange and green) as this site.
How do they handle trolls and spam? Is it just as easy to block/delete/etc like it is here? It's pretty simple on typepad.
Only other option would be forum style, which U said U don't like/want.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | March 11, 2013 at 01:02 PM

No, the only thing U really need to worry about is wins and losses on 12 Saturdays a year. And don't forget, enjoy the process!

Just wanted to add my congratulations to the Hoops team for their amazing accomplishment. After the recent 2-3 run, I'll be happy with a Sweet 16 but who knows what these guys will do in the ACC and the ncaa. They just might hock the hoops world. Either way, they accomplished so much this season! A season I'll never forget!
