Six practices into their spring practice schedule, the Miami Hurricanes will host the first of their three spring scrimmages Saturday. The Canes’ first spring scrimmage will be held at Miami’s Traz-Powell Stadium at 10 a.m.
The Canes will then have four more practices before their second spring scrimmage of 2013 – an April 5 trip to Naples High School in Naples, Fla. (7 p.m. start). Miami’s annual Spring Game will conclude spring practice April 13 at Sun Life Stadium (3 p.m.).
Admission to all three spring scrimmages is free and open to the public.
Head coach Al Golden and his Hurricanes squad opened their spring practice slate March 2, holding four practices before Spring Break.
Per NCAA rules, NCAA Division I football programs may conduct a spring practice segment in which a maximum of 15 practice sessions may occur.
The segment must be conducted over a span of 34 consecutive days, excluding institutional vacation periods and exam days.

After your track record this year, I'm with OGV, I was hoping you'd say another school. Or just use a dartboard, you're bound to get more right through random chance. lol

At least he kept it close last year if you're a Missouri fan/Brad Pitt.
Now the question how far past or short of the expected seeding round for UM will they go? They're seeded as a great eight elimination, so who thinks they make it that far, farther or shorter and who knocks them out, assuming you're not like me and don't have them beating Louisville by a point for the national championship?

Harvard Returns To NCAA Tournament After Academic Scandal, Faces New Mexico

Anyone knows why Harvard didn't get NCAA sanctions???
Posted by: Montreal-Cane | March 22, 2013 at 12:41 AM
Because they suspended the players from school before the season for cheating Monty. No compromised eligibility athletes playing means no need to sanction anybody.

10-5 on one bracket today Coke, OKST was the only loss that I have making it out of the first weekend so far. All my misses lost by double digits except NM.
12-3 on the other bracket and only Pitt picked to get to the 2nd weekend on that one but Gonzaga looks ripe for an early exit anyway.

The last school to commit NCAA violations would be Harvard
They don't even have athletic scholarships. About the only advantage an athlete would get is slightly relaxed entrance requirements, and even then you're still talking about athletes that have extremely high academic performance that would get them into just about every school including some Ivys.

In defense of Ohio Cane a couple of kids flat out lied. He was not "off" in who he thought was coming here. UM notebook
Miami Hurricanes’ Gray Crow battling for backup quarterback job
Hurricanes coach Al Golden said Thursday that Gray Crow has moved past Preston Dewey and is battling junior Ryan Williams for Miami’s backup quarterback job.
“Gray is a little bit ahead of Preston right now,” Golden said of the two redshirt freshmen. “So Gray is competing with Ryan. Stephen [ Morris] is clearly the No. 1, but Ryan and Gray are fighting for No. 2.”
Golden said he will get a look at all four of his quarterbacks in Saturday’s 10 a.m. scrimmage at Traz Powell Stadium.
The fifth quarterback on campus, freshman David Thompson, is on the baseball team and is not participating in spring practice.
Thompson missed the Canes’ past two baseball games because of soreness in his surgically repaired right shoulder, but Golden said he is not concerned about the injury or the dual-sport athlete’s ability to pick up the football playbook.
“David is really bright, and he will learn what he needs to learn,” Golden said.

LINEBACKER BATTLE
Senior Jimmy Gaines and sophomore Raphael Kirby are competing for the starting job at middle linebacker.
The Canes, who finished 82nd in the nation in points allowed last season, are looking for help on defense. They also finished 112th in rushing yards allowed, an area that falls under the jurisdiction of a middle linebacker.
Gaines, a 6-3, 235-pounder, has the advantage of experience, having started 14 games the past two years.
Kirby (6-0, 230 pounds) has yet to start a college game. But he might be the more high-end prospect considering that he was a four-star recruit out of Georgia and has put on 22 pounds since his arrival.
Gaines, who was a two-star recruit from Buffalo, N.Y., has earned praise for his football intelligence, a key factor for a middle linebacker.
“Jimmy rarely makes a mistake,” Canes defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio said. “He’s tough and continuing to get better. At [middle linebacker], you have to be a guy who is confident and can put out the calls quick.”
Golden called it a “great competition” and added that Kirby, who played outside linebacker in high school, could move back there if the need arises.
“But if he can [play the middle] and be the captain of the defense, we’d like to leave him there,” Golden said.
Golden said it was Kirby’s intelligence and confidence that made him a natural to play inside. Kirby is also stronger and more poised this year than last year, the coach said.

Canes starters today vs Pacific: Larkin, Scott, McKinney-Jones, Kadji, Gamble.

I was only concerned with those you predicted coming here O_C, that's why they got left off, who cares who goes elsewhere IMO, but you're right, I did get rid of the ones you predicted going elsewhere so I don't know if they where right or not.
Anyway, bottom line, I'm hoping you think Sony is on his way to University of Japan to play for the Haiku's football team, anywhere but Miami at this rate! LOL.

Pacific has to be the shortest team UM has faced this season. Heights for Tigers' starting five: 6-4, 6-1, 6-0, 6-8, 6-6.
