Wow... I'm on FIRE this week... (helps to be on Spring Break!)
Posted by: roachcane77 | March 11, 2013 at 10:35 PM
A National Championship in Basketball would be pretty freakin' awesome!
Posted by: roachcane77 | March 11, 2013 at 10:36 PM
Roach is all alone in his thoughts.
So where is everybody else?
Posted by: 86Cane | March 11, 2013 at 10:42 PM
Nice videos and ongoing articles, 86.
Personally, I don't like being alone with a roach, unless I have a rolled-up newspaper or a shoe, at least! Nothing personal, Roach. Enjoy spring break.
I wish I fully shared the optimism about a likely deep run into the NCAA tnmt, although it definitely is possibly if they play smart ball and with the chemistry they showed in January and early Feb. They certainly have the talent to do so, as do at least a dozen teams. I guess I'll have a better sense where they're at after seeing whether they fully show up for the ACC tnmt.

Dave Matthews, Sting, Flo Rida, the Muse, Ludakris, Zac Brown band, and about 10 other acts are doing free concerts in Centennial Park during the Final Four weekend! It is going to be crazy up here! Miami has just as much right as anyone else to be here!
Go 'canes!

It's perfect. April 8th America time will be April 9th Japan time. My 49th birthday (I'm in denial about the 49th part). What a way that would be to celebrate my last 40s b-day! I want one of those crystal balls for my birthday present!

Canes need to make at least the sweet 16, damn it!
Posted by: Jack | March 12, 2013 at 07:23 AM
Miami Northwestern Athlete JoJo Robinson was at the Miami-Clemson game with coaches...we NEED to flip this kid.
Posted by: UMike | March 12, 2013 at 08:16 AM
I think the Sweet 16 is possible. It would be nice to get a #2 seed, but it seems to ride on the ACC tournament.
I can't stop raving about UM's schedule. UM never plays consecutive road games, has seven home games, and doesn't leave the state of Florida until October 17th. The last three games are all excellent: at Duke, vs. UVA, and at Pittsburgh.
A lot of wonderful possibilities, eh?

This is the highest ranked hoops team ever. The most talented team ever. The 1st outright conference regular season champs ever...
That means this team has to go farther than EVER in the NCAA tourny. At least making the elite 8 or failure. Imo...

Voters got it WRONG! Erick Green over Larkin for MVP by 38-23 votes? LOL
I demand a recount/revote. Haha
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | March 12, 2013 at 01:49 PM
Exactly CGNC.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | March 12, 2013 at 02:31 PM
I think Green deserved the MVP. He's hands down the best player in the conference & the most important player for his team. HE IS HIS TEAM.
CGNC,
The season has been a success but not a HUGE success. It'll be a huge success if they go deeper in the tourny than ever before. That's the goal & expectations of the team themselves. If that's what they expect as a team, that's what we should expect as fans...

Posted by: WWIN | March 12, 2013 at 03:29 PM
Eric Green deserved MVP. You never saw him disappear during games and was always a threat to score. Larkin disappeared too often, especially in these last 2 weeks which cost him the honor.

In my opinion I dont see how the ACC can name Green as the POY
Shane was the best player on the best team with shooting % edge to Shane
Shane also was a far better defender then Green was
A 13-18 4-14 with a POY makes no sense
In the 2 games against VT Shane put up better stats the Green did
Green deserved votes just not enough to walk away with POY
Posted by: Sebastian5706 | March 12, 2013 at 04:45 PM
Green AVERAGED 25.4 ppg - leads the nation
Shane averages 13.7 ppg.
RB and Asst numbers are similar. Takes Shane 2 games to score what green does in 1.
Posted by: BEERicane | March 12, 2013 at 05:11 PM
Eric Green is the best player on the floor in every game I've seen VT play. Including Duke, Miami & NC State. You know he's the only player you have to stop & he still drops 20-30 points on the regular. He drives to rim, comes off screens, pulls up off the dribble & still dishes out a healthy number of assists. With out him, VT might not have won a single game...
Posted by: CoCane | March 12, 2013 at 05:23 PM
BEERicane
I understand what youre saying about Green. He is a very good player
In my opinion more should go into it then just scoring
Shane can play D while the few games I watched VT Green couldnt guard me and im a 46 year old slightly out of shape bum
If you factor in all parts of their games I feel Shane has the better overall game
I cant seem to give the nod to someone whose team is 13-18 4-14 in league play
Posted by: Sebastian5706 | March 12, 2013 at 05:27 PM
Green is getting robbed of Naismith talk bc his team is so bad. Put him on Miami, he is NPoTY.
Posted by: BEERicane | March 12, 2013 at 05:57 PM
And Miami would be undefeated and #1 with him on the court.
Posted by: BEERicane | March 12, 2013 at 05:58 PM
Lol! He rob you before you bounce the ball twice. He's guarding the opponents best player & still leading the NATION in scoring. You're smoking some potent shyt dawg. Lol!
Posted by: CoCane | March 12, 2013 at 06:03 PM
I havent seen all of VTs games so I cant make an accurate read on his defensive play
I just know that in the games I did watch he was a no show on the defensive side
Scoring is great but when you score 25 then give up 30 to the players your guarding is a washout
Winning the ACC with Green=no chance
Without Shane we dont win the ACC
In no way does his deserve to be considered a NPOY candidate
You say VT might of lost every game the played without Green. Well they finished last with Green so nothing changed
Im not denying that he is a very good player. Im just saying he doesnt deserve ACCPOY

Barry Jackson:
### UM linebacker Eddie Johnson continues to hurt his chances of getting back on the Hurricanes football team. Johnson has left school, at least temporarily, and is not enrolled this semester, UM tells us.
Johnson, who was third on the team with 59 tackles and had a team-leading 7.5 tackles for loss, remains on indefinite suspension.
UM people are highly skeptical about his chances of being reinstated, though Al Golden has not ruled it out. His missteps include tardiness, not showing up and other violations.

Where will the 2013 ACC regular-season champion Miami Hurricanes play during March Madness? The University of Miami and Buffalo Wild Wings will host the Official Selection Sunday Watch Party from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Sunset Place location across from the University of Miami campus.
Sebastian the Ibis and the Hurricanes cheerleaders, with WQAM, the flagship station for the Miami Hurricanes, will be broadcasting live on location. If the No. 1 seed @CanesHoops team plays in the ACC Championship game, the team and staff will not be at the selection show event.
Doors and an expanded patio area will be open for the FREE event at 5 p.m. and the NCAA Basketball Championship Selection Show will air at 6 p.m. on CBS. Fans in attendance will be eligible for giveaways, purchase 2013-14 season tickets and renew their Hurricane Club memberships.

Larkin = most important player on the best ACC team.
Green = most important player on the worst ACC team.
I bet Green didn't sell a single ticket this year either and their Duke game didn't have a front row seat on the road for sale the night before tip-off on the secondary market with a $9,999.99 asking price like it did for the Miami game.
All these media awards are instantly slanted against any Hurricane contenders in every sport so I'm not surprised they got it wrong. If The Pimp didn't have that Final Four run already on his resume I'd bet he wouldn't have won ACC COY either with the same results at UM this year.
