The boys are back; the boys are back.

Maybe a 2-seed isn't such a bad thing. This will make the guys play hungry through the next six games. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Miami Hurricanes, who are preparing to take the NCAA to court over their LOIC, also take the NCAA's most treasured NCAA Hoops Championship? Wouldn't surprise me if the NCAA eventually tries to strip it away from us ala USC.

Let's Go 'Canes! 6 more wins!

Top 10 again!! 6 more wins is right!

KiriJax- thinking similar thoughts. No accolades might motivate them a bit more.

Today I just want to thank in order;

Frank Haith. (Yes I said it. Guy could recruit and never developed into the type of coach that could hold The Pimp's denture cup and I look forward to watching him get bounced in a mild first round upset again this year but somebody had to recruit these guys a decade ago and it was him.)

Paul Dee, rest his soul, who hired Haith and helped the BUC get built finally.

Shawn Eichorst, sorry your house got robbed, you have an eye for coaching talent and I can see why you deserved your promotion, hope your current Giant Squid Ear Spray taking football team loses every game until the world ends still.

And finally, The Don, best president this university ever had, bad football coaching mutants or not.

Now no delayed flights getting to the regional like the one that derailed the 2002 team's round of 16 run by touching down so late please.

Terrance Sullivan

6 more wins till ultimate glory. M-I-A-M-l fight, fight, fight!

Here's a lead paragraph I like reading.

Go here and look at Szczerbiak's bracket, it says he picks the 'Zags but the bracket indicates he picks UM to win?

Sounds like more disrespect Shane! Turn off the internet and watch the Pacific tape!

Funny that the only coach on the panel also definitely picks UM to win it while everybody else chalks up the top overall seed.

Did anyone catch the Julian Gamble video bomb when Larranaga was interviewed?? Lol..I might b late on that one he did it to Kenny Kadji also a while back...its funny cause he just popped up smiling on each interview...unlike Bosh who gives more entertainment

OGV...I think Julian Gamble and Shane Larkin BOTH read Canespace. And maybe Kadji, but I am less certain of that.

Aside from the possibility of a random Cinderella school that sometimes sneaks into the tournament’s second weekend (e.g. Albany, South Dakota State, Pacific, Iona), there are two schools in particular that stand to gain the most from performing well in the upcoming weeks and at least reaching the Sweet 16.

Saint Louis University and the University of Miami.

Above and below is from Forbes Magazine:

Needless to say, the unexpected success of the Hurricanes’ men’s basketball program in 2012-13 has been a welcomed and much-needed shot of positive publicity for the embattled athletics program.

And, just like any program that enjoys unforeseen success, such successes may make the school a destination for high school recruits to consider…as well as serve as general marketing for the entire university which could lead to a deeper applicant pool.

86 - I have no issue where Miami is seeded and the region. We get past Indiana and it's a done deal. You want to talk about a killer region, look at the mid-west. Louiville, Duke, Michigan State, Memphis....BRUTAL.

New raising canes on sunny odogwu love this young man

Raize...check this out:

Also. Went on a cruise last week.. from port Canaveral to cocoa cay then Nassau. . Very nice had on um gear so I took some crap from fsu fans and uf fans but had a great time. Trying to get promoted within my. We have some jobs opening up in Florida

Now that Mike James is gone, I think I found my new favorite player. His optimism is infectious.

Go Sunny!

LB...as U know, Golden and Kehoe have been RAVING about Sunny since he arrived on campus. He is VERY raw but has great work ethic and is very coachable. They say he is soaking up info like a sponge, has a great desire to learn the game.

Just noticed Barry Larkin was born the same year I was. Kind of a sobering thought.

86 - I think Syracuse beats Indiana......

Kiri - talk to us when you get to be my age. And age that listened to music on reel to reel or 8 track.

Gamble has been in college only slightly less time than this website has been in existence so he probably told Shane where the real fan commenting action has always been I bet 86, LOL.

Rocky over The Rock? Somebody got some explaining to do! I was going to say it was a bad day for MAC man losing to Bob Sagat, but then I realized he's lucky he went to that pedo university and they didn't make the tournament this year so he would have lost out to Gene Kelly on that list instead if they had been decent this season.

Ironically, the alumni association website doesn't even list MAC man, or his pet mutant roommate from college, unsurprisingly, as a famous living alumni;

So much for the 'most recognizable brand in college football.'

New Raising Canes is excellent - https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rkV-RiomRaQ

I have to laugh at the people that were calling for Shalala to be fired after our loss to FGCU. Some people don't get that athletics is only one portion of a president's responsibility.

Next time, think before you post.

Just thinking about some of the recent comments. Do you really think the school is simply not supporting the athletics dept?

Despite the overall average performance, I think football will improve though I don't see us competing with the elites anymore.

Baseball down

Basketball, mens is what it is

2 ADs gone

fan base dead

If the answer is yes, why? Do they cut corners in sports to pay the bills elsewhere. Just thinking someone closer to the school might have insight.

Posted by: USAFCane | November 13, 2012 at 10:01 PM

Need to pay the going rate in some sports, need to cut the dead weight in others, need to get the lifetime achievment coaches a nice gold watch and upgrade in others, USAF. The basketball team is an embarrassment right now, we can't handle Fl Gul Coast, yet we're supposed to be able to handle UNC, NC State, or Duke? I guess that joke is on us. For my own santity, I can't support this team, Maybe I'm 100% wrong, but I don't think I'll miss much. I honestly don't remember seeing UM be so awful at all three major sports at the same time, yet here we are on year 3 or 4 of overall mediocrity.

Larranaga will look 95 after this game

Final FGCU 63 Miami 51

November 13, 2012 at 09:05 PM

The "best team in school history" per Larranaga. Really? So good we kept it close against a D2 team in an exhibition game? That get embarrassed against a school nobody outside of the State of FLorida has ever heard of, a team with no basketball history? Thank God Eichorst did leave. Resigning the women's basketball coach will go down as his biggest achievement. Larranaga should offer his resignation on the spot if this is the best he can do.

A great president and a great AD are needed now!!!

Who is the only person still at UM related to the Shapiro-UM scandal??? Who is responsible for this mess???

Wow! Do we suck at basketball too?
Sad to say, IT IS not so GREAT TO BE A MIAMI HURRICANE these days.

When the current nightmare that is UM athletics ends please wake me up.

Posted by: 86Cane | November 13, 2012 at 10:46 PM

The comments above are from real and true Canes fans...This is troublesome.

Wake me up when we will have a new UM President.

Ebb & flow, that's what college sports is. It's hard to stay on top and recruiting is the focal point. The "U" should revel in this basketball accomplishment because with all the player losses from this squad, it could be back to reality next year.
The baseball team keeps losing top flight players to the draft coming from High School and that keeps hindering the teams ability to stay consistent and it seems every year we have a top flight pitcher go down with a Tommy John.
The football team is on it's way back from a long vacation and in my estimation we are still 5 or 6 players away from getting back to the top. Good Recruiting & coaching stability, that's what we need.

Yeah, safe to say the middle of November last year was not a fun time for the dyed in the wool Hurricane supporters on here CAD. Historically bad football defense does that to the posters on here, like full moons making lycanthropes turn hairy and grow fangs. The Don doesn't walk on water by any means (letters to the alumni to talk to the NCAA or else face ostracism from their alma mater for example is going to be her low point to her presidency to date) but as a president she's done a better job than all her predecessors and I'm glad I got to shake her hand at my graduation.

How long did it take you to go back and piece that together in your estimation BTW? If you have an hour or several to spare, go back and dig up the really old stuff from when Gamble was a freshman about how good the football team was going to be three years ago. Now that's some funny 20/20 hindsight!

Maybe I'm nuts, but as much as I enjoy victories and all the recognition, I enjoy following my team no matter what, and rejoicing and suffering with others fans of the team. There's always a up time and a down time, no matter who you root for. The hard times of the hoops team made this ACC title all the more sweeter. I'll bet you anything we have enjoyed this season and title a lot more than a dukie or heel would enjoy a title season. I'm a diehard tennis fan and despite the fact that they are ranked #70, struggling to get into the NCAA tourney and doing a lousy job of recruiting right now, they are my team and I'm gonna enjoy it when they finally reach the top.
Sorry, turning into a rant, but my point is, we all get down when we lose and feel great when we win, but the main thing is that we support the team no matter what. That's the fun part.

I like what i'm hearing about Mr.Figs might not lose a beat on the slb but i wanna see what Mr.Bonds can bring come da summa

canesallday- I'm happy to say that I was wrong on Larranaga, very happy. Having said that, after last year's season-ender, the FGSU loss didn't put the team in the best light at the time. I judge by what I see,try not to let reputation enter into the equation (which helps some like D'Onofrio but not others) and will enthusiastically say I'm wrong when proven so. In fact, I hope to say it again this June about our baseball team. . . :)

There was a blogger on here some time ago that should read this post and take note of the fact that this is how you do it right when you swing and miss as badly as they used to.

Good form j.w.

(Well except for the expecting the mutant from Philly to figure out what a championship defense looks like when you signal in the play calls for it part.)

I have to respect people that admit when they're not right. I agree with orang' about the prez, and it just bugs me when such a narrow view is taken but it's so true about those November days being dark ones.

When it comes to this

letters to the alumni to talk to the NCAA or else face ostracism from their alma mater for example is going to be her low point to her presidency to date

I think she was left with no choice even though I hated that it happened. But with 20/20 it's a good move now because the school can argue forcefully that they cooperated and went way way way above what was required. I'm hoping for no more penalties of any kind.

Dunno. The only person I would like to thank is 86 for running this website for the past 6? years

It was nice to see the crowd in the posted video meet the team. They deserve all of it. They played too many times in front of empty seats.

Curtsy left, curtsy right, bow and dip...

Mia Chi 'Cane '98

I went back to look at the comments when Coach L was hired back in April 2011. For the most part the Legion had only positive things to say but no one really knew of him. It seemed like Rion Brown wanted to transfer but decided to stay. And there was an article about how Cosch L's success would be based on Reggie Johnson. HA!

Interesting to go back and read comments.

I thought so too, but after watching Him run on that Raising Canes video, NOPES!...
too slew footed.

But I like His size and length on that O-Line though, I look forward to seeing Him develop.

dobrae utro!
