Fresh off of their "Vini, Vidi, Vici" tour of Tobacco Road this past weekend, your Miami Hurricanes returned to the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables Sunday night.
As the escorted team bus pulled in around 10 PM, Miami fans lined the streets to welcome their newly crowned conquering heroes and their leader, UM head coach Jim Larranaga, home.
And we are almost certain that home may never have felt any sweeter to the UM men's basketball team than it did at that glorious moment in time.
Earlier last night, Larranaga and his band of merry men watched the (rigged) NCAA selection show to see where they would be seeded and where they would begin play in the (sham) NCAA tournament set to start on Thursday.
It turns out that Coach L and his (disrespected) Miami Hurricanes basketball team are headed to Austin, TX as the #2 seed where they will play The University of the Pacific on Friday, March 22 at 2:10 PM on TNT.
How a Miami team that won both the regular season conference title and the ACC tournament crown on the road in the heart of North Carolina against the nearly home town Tar Heels was not given a #1 seed is simply beyond comprehension.
Only in the corrupt, deceptive world of the NCAA is that even possible. But, as they say: "It is what it is. Now deal with it!" Now, Miami will need to find a way to turn that disrespect into motivation going forward.
As for today, when U wake up and stand squarely in front of the mirror, you can say something to yourself that you could have never said before in the entire history of the program:
"The Miami Hurricanes men's basketball team are ACC champions and are headed into the NCAA tourney as a #2 seed."
And nothing, and nobody, can wipe that huge smile off of the reflection staring back at you.
Sunny is massive but still looks small next to my boy Seantrel henderson that boy is HUGEEE!!!

Honestly, it was nearly impossible at the time to find any fault with a hire who had that one postseason run where they lost a lead in the second half to a .500 team from the pacific coast playing in Washington DC against his team based in the eastern timezone, then when you get to the dreamy interviews with the media filled with the same quotes again and again and all rational evaluation of his career naturally got tossed out the window by the fans and anybody with any doubts is just an obvious hater of some nebulous something the guy had achieved to that point or some such claim.
Wait, wrong UM revenue sport coaching hire two years ago.

Oh, that just makes the Herb smile with glee, moving Briscoe to O-Line, as if we have a bunch of earth movers at our DT position. Well DENO, you got to play that lousy hand again you got dealt again. Good luck with the smurf squad and you better hope Grimble, Pierre & Robinson finally decide to play every game.

Must be all the man-to-man defense he has his team play.
If The Pimp doesn't sweep these you know the fix is in for the tournament as well so change your brackets accordingly.

Apparently the ACC coaches think that helping your team win games is more important that Kobe'ing it up for a last place finish?
Brandon Odai just extended The Pimp's contract to five years after he's laid to rest.

What Larkin did in the ACC tourney is what we need in the NCAAs. Canes got screwed with the seeding though. Should have 1 seed over IU or Zags. Worst case should have been 2 seed in zags bracket.

While I agree they should've been a 1 seed, be careful calling it "screwed". U see the gauntlet Gonzaga has to maneuver through?
Canes division is very winnable.

Jon Bastian:
Louisiana’s Kenny Young “Feels Good” About Miami Offer
Part of a national championship high school team, New Orleans (La.) John Curtis linebacker Kenny Young has become one of the most recruited prospects in the Southeast. Less than two weeks ago, the 2014 standout received an offer from the University of Miami and has been in contact with them ever since.
“I had talked to Coach (Michael) Barrow and Coach (Hurlie) Brown last week,” Young said. “I’m getting to know them a little bit. They want me to come up there. They just want me to make it because they know it’s a pretty far ride, so they just want me to make it. Not too many people get an offer from Miami, especially from where I’m from, Louisiana. It just feels good.”
Young, 6-foot-2 and 215-pounds, knows the history of Miami, but is looking forward to learning more things about the program that he doesn’t know.
“I’ve never really been down there,” Young said. “Obviously, they had a lot of great players come out of Miami. They had a lot of great linebackers. Ray Lewis is the best linebacker to watch and Ed Reed is from where I’m from. So, they had a lot of great players that came out of there.”
Since the beginning of 2013, Young has accumulated 20 Division 1 offers–all of which he says has a chance to land his services.
“My only offer in January was LSU,” Young said. “I picked up my offers in February and March. I got some [offers] after LSU, then I got a ‘Bama one and everybody started offering. It’s still early and I’m just enjoying the process. I’m giving everybody a fair chance. I don’t have any favorites yet.”
His college decision isn’t likely to come any time soon. “I think it’s best for me to weigh all my options out and see what’s best for me. It’s a once in a lifetime thing. It’s my future in my hands, so I think signing day will be the best time for me.”

From :17 to :45 of this video, Flowers completely DOMINATES! 3G.
So much so, that He gets off the ball, before 3G can even get OUT OF HIS STANCE!
Seriously, they need to try Flowers ass on the D-Line, and see what He's got.

Just as a bit of trivia, per ESPN it turns out the Canes aren't the first ACC team to win the regular season ACC and the ACC tnmt. and not get a 1 seed:
And going back to the start of NCAA seeding in 1979, only one team -- Georgia Tech in 1985 -- had failed to earn a No. 1 after winning at least a share of the regular-season crown to go with the tournament title, according to STATS LLC.
Also, per the article, the ACC coaches feel slighted by way of UVa and UMaryland being left out of the NCAA tnmt, along with Miami not getting a 1 seed, etc. (Duke, UM and UNC were all in the top 20 of the RPI). Unfortunately bad losses follow teams the rest of their seasons, just like having an affair does for the rest of the relationship (except there's no way to keep the bad loss from being heard about).

While I think our OL will be a strength this fall seems we may be seeing the same old story.
Seantrel not it getting done, and Chick being pushed around.
Might be worth a look for Flowers to make a change. He can't be much worse than we've got now

Way too early. However, remember that even if Flowers beats Seantrel... that Susan's man is probably the very best 6th offensive lineman in the ACC (if he is considered 6).
Defensive line? Another story. Until we get at least one dominant force on the line (preferably in the middle), the d-line will continue to be a liability.

Canes offered 2015 ATH Shawn Burgess-Becker yesterday. So did Bama.
Coley likes him at WR, but said he's special at DB also.
This is Golden's kinda player. Expect him to go hard after this one.

Montreal Cane,
I know it's early in the spring but I don't expect much from the D-Line. I think the talent is better than the production we'll see. The problem is Jethro Franklin & the scheme we run. Until an aggressive scheme & D-Line coach is in place, we're going to see what we saw last year. I think they'll be a little better but not much.
As for the O-line. Flowers should start at LT, Henderson RT, with Bunche rotating at both spots to keep them fresh...

Good morning, all. Hoping to get through two more work days, can't get sick before Friday. :)

Seantrel is playing just fine, he is not a sorry player he is an NFL talent, and still improving, he is plenty strong, he is not "weight room strong" he has long arms he will not put up big reps but even around 25 reps is not bad and he will get closer to 30 at the combine. Flowers is a very impressive OL and will be one of the best to come through here in a long time, he has a great family too. When watching drills be careful because drills are not Football, they are designed to do something, so when you see a 330 lb man move a 270 man why does that shock you, Football is not wrestling, it is not weight lifting, it is Football. Do you think Von Miller can win those drills against an NFL tackle? NOOOOO and it is not designed for him to.

True that.
That was basically a drive block drill for the O-Line, so a stalemate was basically a win for the D-Line.
And Chick didn't do that bad, I was just pointing out Flowers' quickness and technique coming off the ball, He has that quick twitch that you look for on the D-Line.
And Bunche is a freakin' ROAD-GRADER!, but I don't see Him as a Tackle on the next level.
Posted by: CaneRock | March 20, 2013 at 01:18 PM
And Ogdogwu...love His attitude and perspective on life.
BUT!, He's gonna be a project as far as football is concerned, I don't see Him in the O-Line rotation anytime soon.
Posted by: CaneRock | March 20, 2013 at 01:27 PM
First, Odogwu won't need any Tide until his redshirt soph. year. Hype & Hope is what spring forecast are all about. Spring football is great for the coaches evaluation but for the ultra fan like the Herb, I could careless. I care naught, about legends of the Spring only about the end product on game day.
Checking out Canesport today and I saw where Hamilton was talking about the defense and all the disrespect he got from friends and family because of last years production and he had the Gaul to say they didn't need to be like the defenses of the 80's but start their own identity, this was a new time. Last I remember, defense is defense, no matter what era and the objective still remains to score more than your opponent. I'd call last years defense "Sisters of the poor" best I can give them. To Mr. Hamilton, being compared to the 80's defense, would be an upgrade from what I witnessed last year and a damn great complement.
