Should i rewrite my post from last night regarding Canes baseball...Don't feel like it! What a great day for coach L and our men's basketball team. Even Donna Shalala cut a piece of the net to send it to the NCAA.

I hope Reggie is graduating with a degree because after the NCAA'S his basketball playing days are over. Too much dribbling at the top of the key and not enough driving to the basket by our guards. Teams are defending the high pick and roll.

Excuse me, I have to step away from the computer to clean up the puke I just projectile thew up on it.

Too much BEER for me!

BEERicane

Now if coach L can recruit and build a program like Golden we will be set. Hope Coach L is taking notes. He needs to find a capable assistant like D?No!

orange 'n green in the vein

House money.

BEERicane

Way to respond in the second half of the second half Canes. Keep that going into the tourney and you will be alright. Need that momentum.

The take home message of the game - it only takes half of a half to beat OGVs bubble team. They are just that bad.

BEERicane

Hopefully the fire ball comes out OGV!

BEERicane

BEER calls out Shane and he responds. You are welcome Cane Nation. Someone has to call out under performers. Now DoughBoy needs to morph into RJ.

orange 'n green in the vein

He's heating up!

BEERicane

About time! Larkin sighting.

BEERicane

And..... Larkin just coughed up a time out. WTF is wrong with him? Did he pull something and have an undisclosed injury?!

BEERicane

Shane, it's your alarm clock. Top was and hr and a half ago.

Seriously, where have you been? You haven't scored in over a game worth of play. You are MIA. More TOs than assists.

This is how bad OGVs bubble team is. They will lose to Miami without Larkin - actually they might have be better right now without him. Hopefully his disappearing act ends sometime soon.

orange 'n green in the vein

That's it BEER, get it all out.

LMAO!

BEERicane

If you bench DoughBoy for his play (and he SHOULD be), you have to bench Larkin, too. Team has been worse with him out there today. Accountability, Coach L!

BEERicane

Lark with back to back TOs to open the half. Hot start Shane.

BEERicane

That glass still half full? The canes are below average in the ACC now. This is pathetic

WWIN

OGV,

Nothing wrong with going back home, some people like cold weather better.

How do I watch the game online?

orange 'n green in the vein

WWiN, who goes to Philly this time of year for vacation when the weather in Coral Gables is what it is?

BEER, see, now thats the LOL worthy first quarter of the game damning with a broad brush that makes these game blogs so worth refreshing every few seconds here!

BEERicane

We need to get Rion going heading into the post-season.

BEERicane

I hope that weak ass hedge by DoughBoy isn't the game shape you were talking about. Oh, and he had a TO too. DoughBoy is worthless.

orange 'n green in the vein

BEER, it's all just blogging so I don't take it seriously, besides the feelings mutual on my part with your damning everything associated with a program that's a zombie walking around with a conference crown on like they've actually won five national titles and should just roll the leather out and then run the other team off the court or else. Now if we can get that same attitude toward golden....

WWIN

OGV,

Yo pimp musta stepped in some ooze, cuz he's starting to mutate!

WWIN

Beer,

OGV just hates being wrong

orange 'n green in the vein

Kadji, Gamble, Johnson, too much size unless another team has a small ball lineup that can counter in transition (UNC).

BEERicane

OGV, you should put on self-esteem seminars with that participation ribbon notion of the bubble.

"Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya...."

I'm just playing, man. I actually like your cheerful optimism of the BBall team. Now if we can get that same attitude toward golden....

BEERicane

Keep telling yourself that, OGV. Better get your brain scanned.

orange 'n green in the vein

BEER, the bubble exists for every team, right up until they aren't selected for the tournament.

BEERicane

Turds lose to an actual bubble team in UK. (Clemson is NOT a bubble team)

BEERicane

FGCU the first team to punch it's ticket to the tourney.

Jack

The Herald comments suck! They love to rag on Canespace...I stopped reading them, mostly. I did read some of the fake "Hassan and Ohio" Episode

BEERicane

Go win us an outright ACC title, Lark! You pissed it away vs GT (as did Scott in you 2nd half disappearance act).

Terrance Sullivan

Let's Go Canes. beat Clemson and win the ACC championship today.

Jack

Let's go Canes!

More from the NYTimes article

“highly identified” fans experienced higher levels of arousal — measured by heart rate, brain waves and perspiration — and had fewer bouts of depression and alienation than nonfans. Contrary to popular belief, this research suggests, hard-core fans even have higher self-esteem

BEER, like I said, they are about to have their bubble burst when they don't win the conference tournament. But hey, the good news is your epic meltdown will actually have some weight behind it tonight if UM . . . splits the ACC title.

So it actually really still won't, but that's not going to stop you from indulging given the chance, now is it?

BEERicane

Miami getting 12.5 vs OGVs distant bubble team Clemmy (3 games under 0.500 whose only chance at even the NIT (sarcasm, no prayer at the NIT) is to win the conference tourney is about as far from a fringe/hopeful bubble team as you can get, OGV). As I said all week, anything less than a double digit victory is an utter failure abs predictive of a 2nd Rd exit.

No. 24 Miami Fall Short to Duke in ACC Opener

March 8, 2013

CORAL GABLES, Fla. No. 24 Miami opened its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule in disappointing fashion Friday night, falling to Duke by a final score of 4-2 at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field

Montreal-Cane

Last year that Canes baseball was fun... 2008.

Since then: Errors...Bad offence...Too many players left on bases...poor recruiting
(don't go after players who will for sure sign a pro contract after High school)...Bad coaching overall. It's easy when your record looks good on paper but when you play decent to elite teams this is the reference to how good is your program. How many games UM lost to the Gators, Seminoles, virginia, UNC and so on in the last 5 years???

Once again our Miami Hurricanes will be unranked next monday.

I don't like to say it one more time but Jim Morris has to go.

Montreal-Cane

How much more generous can a coach be for one of his player?

Great story!

dj,

I'll be shocked if Buchanon gets drafted. I do think he'll make a roster as a free agent though...

Swasey has the size, speed and power to carry on in his dad's footsteps. :)

Collier and Cooper must have really let themselves go. I mean, I never thought of Collier as FAST, more "shifty and quick," but wow -- that's slooooow. And I DID always think of Cooper as pretty slow for a featured back at Miami, but to my untrained eye he looked like a guy who ran in the mid 4.5 range; 4.7 is a number for a heavier Miami LB, not a tailback.

Darius Smith apparently ran on crutches.

Ramon Buchanan is going to be a sweet, sweet pickup for some team in the middle rounds of the draft. He looks primed to be Yet Another Guy Who Never Blossomed Until He Went Pro.

Watching the Heat play & wondering why Birdman ain't playing 25-30 minutes a game. A blind man can see his defense & rebounding makes them unstoppable. They go on their big runs with him in the game. When he goes out, they slow down & let the other team back in it. A big DUUUUUH to Eric Spoelstra...

I thought I was real slick, until I got blocked

Feds eye Maria Elena Perez
Updated: March 8, 2013, 1:20 PM ET
Associated Press
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- An attorney who represents the convicted felon at the center of the Miami athletics scandal is facing additional scrutiny, with a federal judge asking if her relationship with the NCAA was unethical.

Maria Elena Perez's actions will be reviewed and she may face discipline, according to an order signed this week by Chief U.S. District Judge Federico A. Moreno.

At issue, Moreno wrote, is whether Perez acted unethically in taking money from the NCAA for work -- specifically, three depositions -- done as part of Nevin Shapiro's bankruptcy case.

Shapiro is the convicted Ponzi scheme architect who gave dozens of Hurricane athletes and recruits impermissible benefits for nearly a decade, and his actions eventually led to a long investigation of the Miami athletic department. The NCAA accused Miami of lacking institutional control when it filed allegations against the Hurricanes last month, and one of the cited reasons was that the Hurricanes failed to properly monitor and control Shapiro.

Perez is also the subject of a Florida Bar probe, related to her work with the NCAA.

Perez declined comment Friday...

We aren't getting Cook, IMO.

We ARE getting Michel and Yearby.

BigWindyCane1

Stargazer Alert:

I am not into recruiting sites and stars, but I have to agree with the order that the ranked these three RB targets:

10. Sony Michel
23. Joseph Yearby
68. Dalvin Cook (Clemson)

I saw all three play the last two years, and I have to agree with the order that they are ranked. Sony Michel is the best overall RB prospect at this point. Yearby is a very close second and is a better pure RB - shifty, tough, fast and hard to tackle. Cook has better straight-line speed.

They all are good. It would be nice to get another RB to compliment Yearby. Al Golden is really doing a good job recruiting. 2014 should be a banner year.

orange 'n green in the vein

Same thing happened with the ACC football schedule when BC was added to make 12, UNC got stuck with two road games to the Orange Bowl in a row. If UM begged off the losers at VT road game the same year as the FSU, that is a head shaking moment of pure b!tch@$$ness on the athletic department's part.

So I guess it's time to give the William Moody memorial send off of Rest in Peace for The Pipe's, "Anybody, anywhere, anytime," mantra. Now it's deserve victory, but for the love of all that's holy, don't make us play two road games against teams with a combined fewer national titles than us because winning is hard..

CAN ANYBODY EXPLAIN WHY WE PLAY VT AT HOME AGAIN?

Posted by: canezilla | March 08, 2013 at 10:28 AM

It has to do with the ACC adding Pitt and 'Cuse and some ND games also. To make it work Six schools had away games two years in a row AT the same school they played the year before.

The Dude

Hassan,

So no black numbers with a white outline on a black jersey then. I'm pretty there are a few uniforms that violate that rule.

Hassan

Here is release on his hiring:

Andrew Rossetti has been named the University of Miami's video coordinator, announced Friday by Director of Athletics Blake James.

Rossetti, who will handle the day-to-day video needs of the football staff and the entire athletics department, comes to Coral Gables from the University of Kansas, where he was the football video coordinator during the 2012 season. While at KU, he was responsible for all football video and oversaw the filming for all football practices and games.

From 2009-2011, he was the video director at Middle Tennessee, where he was in charge of all aspects of video operations and assisted in scoreboard productions for basketball games and special events. Before moving to Middle Tennessee, he spent a year as the assistant football video coordinator at Washington State.

In 2005, he co-founded Professional Sports Inc. (PSI Videos), a company specializing in editing video footage. He left PSI in 2008 for Washington State.

He is a 2005 graduate of Florida State with a bachelor's degree in mass media communications and a minor in criminology. He earned his associate's degree from Palm Beach Community College in 2002. During his time at Florida State, he worked for WFSU television station and WFVS 89.7 FSU radio.

the previous dude left for the same job at the Eagles

Probably right, Ohio- in 2014 they should start playing ACC football teams, right?

Hassan

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/07/ejection-for-targeting-approved-will-go-into-effect-in-2013/

Interesting rule changes of note:

– To preclude multiple players from the same team from wearing the same uniform number

Looks like Tyriq is gonna have to pick a new number along with numerous other players across college football.

– To clarify uniform rules as follows: “Jerseys must have clearly visible, permanent Arabic numerals measuring at least 8 and 10 inches in height front and back, respectively, and be of one solid color that itself is clearly in distinct contrast with the color of the jersey, irrespective of any border around the number.”

This puts a damper on the imagination of the Nike Pro Combat makers.

Two big surprises in these stats...

Andrew Swasey's height... (I thought he was like 5'11".)

And Graig Cooper's 40 time... (Kind of explains a lot about his lack of big plays back in the day.)

All in all I wish all of our former Canes HUGE success in the NFL!

Let's Go Canes!

Posted by: roachcane77 | March 07, 2013 at 10:09 PM

-------------------------------------------

Cooper was a 4.40 guy here at Miami, his knee injury has slowed him down no doubt But i am sure he can still time in the 4.5's on his better days.

Swasey looked short to me but he is jacked.

Smith showed he is a fat strong guy and that is all, he is not explosive at all with his 23 inch vertical, he is a slow twitch guy.

I am very proud of KT he really showed he is a great athlete and i would love to see him make the league.

Wow a PIMP sighting, he did not run well so I think he will not make the NFL but who knows he might make another league, he really had moves and plays faster then he timed today.

VT numbers were not bad except his bench sucks, his bench has always sucked, he used to do only 1 rep so 11 is a big improvement.

Ray Ray had a good outing and I am sure he can do even better then that, guys here should realize that it is rare that the numbers you put up is your PR, you should be consistent and get close to your PR but u will not always hit that number, Hester ran a 4.41 at the combine which was terrible for him then came home for pro day and ran a 4.27, did he get faster in a couple weeks? no he just had a bad race at the combine. Guys like Buch did not come close to his PR in the 40 and Robinson as well, the tape will have to show their speed and skills is better then what they showed here today.

LB

"LB... Are you assuming Harris & Thomas are Seminoles because they're at BTW or is this prediction based on a source of info?"

The former. I won't believe otherwise until they sign. Too much nonsense.

Posted by: canezilla | March 08, 2013 at 10:28 AM

Can't find a link right now, but I read somewhere that UM requested to split the FSU and VT series, so we don't have to play them both @home or on the road in the same season.

herbieibis

I see why Telemaque was a non-factor last year. 4.7 40 time and weak sister on the bench with a whopping 11 reps at 225. Marcus Robinson was almost as fast as Cooper. Big difference in Shannon's boys strength wise and Goldies.
