Dan Marino. Don Shula.
Dwayne Wade. Pat Riley.
Jeff Conine. Jim Leyland.
Those coaches and players are all linked to their teams: Dolphins, Heat, Marlins.
When Miami Hurricane fans begin to think about this question: "Who in the history of the UM football program would be eligible to be Mr. Hurricane?", there really is only one answer.
The name that always comes to mind is Art Kehoe. When Al Golden decided to bring back Coach Kehoe back to the UM coaching staff there was nobody any happier than Art Kehoe, Mr. Hurricane.
Well unless you count me and the entire Hurricane family.
Art Kehoe is everything a coach should be: Smart, dedicated, tough, motivated, knowledgeable and a good teacher, leader, counselor and role model.
And when you look at the current Miami football team and the talent, quality, depth and skill at various positions the offensive line is at the top of the list.
And now Kehoe is talking out loud about his squad. It seems he is gald to talk about his trench warriors who want to, no make that will, dominate the line of scrimmage in 2013.
In the video above Kehoe talks about several players who have improved during this Spring and at the top of his list are two names: Danny Isidora and Taylor Gadbois. These players are large individuals, who along with some guy named Sunny, are going to make waves in the coming years in Coral Gables.
We like that. Yeah, we like that a lot.
First! (or to be precise: First 1st!)
Kehoe ist the man, his unit will be great for years to come.

Good Lord. 86 is punishing the blogosphere.
Well done, my friend.

I really like the way the receivers are blocking downfield. I'm still up in the air about the dropped passes.
Dallas has established himself as the #2 tailback. I'd like to see a solid #3.
Is it possible that Olsen Pierre gives us a glimmer of hope at DT?

We all know why Seantrel is smiling here... and it's not his potential first round status. :)
Notes on Kirby from Manny:
- As a sophomore, he can already bench the NFL test 28 times (Perryman at 33).
- Splitting time with Gaines at MLB, but more often than not a black shirt.
- After the nasty hit in the scrimmage, he was made to run sprints after practice. No bad blood at all.

Stuff that doesn't matter, but since it's defense:
Mike Smith (Northwestern, DE/OLB) may commit soon. Notable listed offers include Clemson, Mississippi State, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin.
Per Ariz: Jaboree Williams wants to earn a Cane offer.
"When asked if he would be camping at Miami this summer, Williams wasn’t shy with his answer.
“Yes sir, I definitely will. I want to be MVP and leave with an offer. I want the coaches to know who I am by the end of the day.”

At the discretion of OGV, I'm predicting Sony to UGA. That is all. We'll find out April 26th.
He's like KC, when he decides, it's done for good.

Art Kehoe is the man. 86 Dan Patrick approves your comment above. Another good article. Go Canes.

Seriously tho, I think he ends up a Cane.
There will be people saying he'll be this or that up until the 26th, just because that's how it is. He loves UM. He loves UGA. He's said it many times.
If he goes to UGA, it won't be for lack of trying. We've recruited him since he was in 8th grade.

LB, Mike Smith will commit to Miami after he takes his ACT
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | April 10, 2013 at 10:36 AM
Ohio...I think there is some confusion also about Cook and Sony. I THOUGHT it was Cook's mom who was saying she wanted him out of South Florida, but recently people have been saying Sony's mom made that comment. I'm scared to make a prediction at this point..but someone made a great point on Canesinsight..would Sony make a decision this early if he was going to UGA? Meaning, why would he want to take all the heat from local people for that long.

I agree, that would mean we lost out on the TOP LOCAL recruit 3 of the last 4 years. We missed on Cooper & MT6..but got Howard. I dont know if it hurts from a depht standpoint or the fact that this is a top local kid who has constantly visited and claims to have grown up a Cane fan...to me those are players you simply cannot loose, especially to freakin UGA lol

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | April 10, 2013 at 10:44 AM
I totally disagree. This would be a compkete overreaction. Are you aware of the backs we have coming in this summer, plus who else is available to sign in 2014?
Let's not overreact. As much as I would love to have Sony, I'd trade him straight up for a stud DT or two.
Posted by: Canesfan_1 | April 10, 2013 at 10:55 AM
Ladies, let's not get all ridiculous over one recruit with a suspect knee.
Posted by: Canesfan_1 | April 10, 2013 at 10:57 AM
Canesfan_1..who is getting "ridiculous"? We are just talking about a Cane recruit. After all, this is a Canes blog lol...we do need some DT's, but it would hurt to lose a top local recruit. Obviously not program breaker, but would hurt.
Posted by: UMike | April 10, 2013 at 11:02 AM
Talking about how bad it would hurt to lose him or how we simply cannot lose him is, in my opinion, a complete overreaction
Read your posts again, you guys sound like a bunch of hysterical little old ladies. Losing this recruit is barely a speed bump.

Getting Sony would be awesome, but losing him is in no way a deal breaker.
Take a logical look at the offensive talent we've assembled now on the roster. Take another look at the talent we've got signed and yet to step on campus.
There is no such thing as a deal breaking recruit. The most important recruit in my opinion isn't even in the 2014 class.
He's in the 2015 class. Ricky Town, come on down.
Posted by: LB | April 10, 2013 at 11:11 AM
Canesfan_1..lets try to keep those type of comments to yourself..being a fake online tough guy will get you no where lol.."hysterical little old ladies"..really dude? Noone said it would kill the program, only that it would hurt, how is that a complete overreaction?
Posted by: UMike | April 10, 2013 at 11:11 AM
I am also reading that with Smith's impending commitment, JoJo Robinson my flip soon also..I really like that kid, IDC if he is only a 3-Star, he is a ball player
Posted by: UMike | April 10, 2013 at 11:32 AM
Come on, UMike, that was tame, and in no way am I trying to be a tough guy. You're way too sensitive if you can't take that.
I'm honestly trying to get the point across that we don't need to be in "sky is falling" mode over ONE recruit. Just like all the losers last recruiting cycle that said Golden was totally losing South Florida in recruiting
Posted by: Canesfan_1 | April 10, 2013 at 12:06 PM
Canesfan_1...I will agree there is no need for the "sky is falling" mode..and I dont think we said anything like that lol..Not sensitive at all, but i dont exactly like being called a little old lady.....I agree a lot of fans overreact to ONE recruit, but in my opinion losing out on Sony is more about a trend at Miami where we lose the top local recruit. I in no way think it would be a program breaker, hell we dont even know if he will be any good in college lol
Posted by: UMike | April 10, 2013 at 12:19 PM

Your comment above is why I came at you. You have been pushing an agenda for weeks now. Admit it.
Posted by: Canesfan_1 | April 10, 2013 at 12:21 PM
Canesfan...I have been pushing an agenda? WTF are you talking about man lol...IMO, that is a trend..Cooper, MT6 and Sony (if he does leave)...I have barely been on here in weeks, so how in the world would I have an agenda? lol
Posted by: UMike | April 10, 2013 at 12:23 PM
Canesfan, way to overreact to what I said, and start the name-calling. Maybe I should've explained further than leaving it at "It hurts. Bad."
In no way did I mean it from a depth perspective. I'm well aware the RB position one of our strengths.
That said, Golden wants 3 RBs this cycle, so he obviously thinks there's a certain depth he wants for the future for if/when Duke leaves early. We have 1 committed right now (Yearby)
This is a kid who has publicly stated that he's loved UM since he was 5 years old. He also stated that it was his dream to be a RB for UM. He also is the top local recruit. He also is a top national recruit. He also has been recruited by us since he was in 8th grade. We were his first offer, ever.
If I need to explain further, please ask, and I will.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | April 10, 2013 at 12:32 PM
be careful Ohio..you might be accused of having an agenda lol
Posted by: UMike | April 10, 2013 at 12:36 PM
Nope. No further explanation needed. You and Umike's comments speak for themselves.
You're entitled to your opinion, I strongly disagree. Losing him is no big deal with the improvement in recruiting and the classes we're going to see, especially with the NCAA uncertainty ending before the next 2014 signing date.
But if you want to go into panic mode over one recruit, then feel free
Posted by: Canesfan_1 | April 10, 2013 at 12:50 PM
You're more than welcome to disagree. It's just an opinion of mine.
I'm not trying to make it out to be all "OMG THIS IS THE END OF THE WORLD!!" or anything like that.
However, it hurts, IMO. It hurts our momentum we've got going with the most recent committments. He's better than Cook (committed to UF the other day), he's better than Yearby. Hell, I think he's better than Fournette, who's listed as the #1 RB in the nation.
Suspect knee tho? Does Willis have a suspect knee? His pro career speaks for itself and his injury was 3x worse than Sony's.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | April 10, 2013 at 12:53 PM
PS - No comment of mine, ever, looked like any kind of panic mode. I said it hurt. I believe it does.
I think it hurts local recruits, who haven't decided yet, seeing one of the top guys leave the area and spurning his (very publicly stated) favorite team since he was 5.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | April 10, 2013 at 12:56 PM
UMike, I told you, just a few more references to 13-11 records or a 54.1% percentage at UM would get apologists out to try and call you on an, 'agenda.'
Of course the joke's on them because the agenda is calling it like you see it and not sugar coating everything the substandard coaching staff does, but that won't stop them from trying their 54.1% best. Recruiting failures being mentioned will take a little more time to get the same result simply because they're tough to project just how bad they are until four years later, but that record and winning percentage will set them off instantly. Go ahead and throw one in there, you'll see.

lol OGV...all I did was say I am "hearing/reading" Sony might go to UGA and I agreed with Ohio that it would hurt and all of a sudden I am a little old lady with an agenda lol

lol..im confused myself haha
Posted by: UMike | April 10, 2013 at 01:51 PM
Aligning yourself with OGV on Golden screams agenda.
Here's more of your lame agenda: "losing out on Sony is more about a trend at Miami where we lose the top local recruit."
UMike has been heading down the OGV road for a while and it sounds like Ohio is ready to hop on with the "woe is us if we don't get Sony" narrative
Posted by: Canesfan_1 | April 10, 2013 at 02:03 PM
Hurlie is a good coach.
will will be 2000 loaded by 2014 but we need a trigerman, Olsen has to show it, he can be it though, 14 years is a long climb back
Posted by: Hassan | April 10, 2013 at 02:17 PM
CF1...HELL YEAH! losing Sony is a BIG! freakin' deal...internally, and externally.
What I mean by internally, is, look at the UM players reaction when Collins announced He was going to Arky. Hell, even Golden said we "NEED!" at least 2 big time backs last recruiting cycle. Those kids are difference makers, you can't teach the type of stuff that they possess. You mean to tell me that Duke Johnson wasn't/isn't a difference maker, He's probably responsible for us having at least 2 more wins than we should've had.
Posted by: CaneRock | April 10, 2013 at 02:33 PM
Canesfan, U obviously don't read what I post daily...
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | April 10, 2013 at 02:37 PM
It is bothersome losing the big time local kids. Sony has been loving the "U" forever but how many times have we heard that one, only to see them end up somewhere else. The trend I see is us not taking care of the defense, the way the offense has been taken care of. RB's are a dime a dozen and remember, he's already had one knee operation, so if he wants to go to Georgia and sit behind Marshall & Gurly for a year or 2 let him. Would we love to have him, hell yes, but no rb is going to make or break us, we'll just go swipe cook from Clemson.
Posted by: herbieibis | April 10, 2013 at 02:41 PM
And AFAIC, UM is trending up, while UGA is trending down. Richt couldn't even keep the best players in the state home, hell, UGA wasn't even in the conversation for a lot of those kids. And that's the difference, good or bad, the local kids are talking about UM, we've got their attention, we're not an afterthought like UGA.
Posted by: CaneRock | April 10, 2013 at 02:43 PM
That moment when you realize that there is more than one stud running back in the 2014 signing class
