“With player safety being the top priority of the NFL Commissioner, Coach Golden’s Miami Hurricanes video emphasizes the best practices for teaching the fundamentals of blocking and tackling,” said Ray Anderson, Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the NFL. “The production will serve as a guideline for all youth and high school football coaches.”
It is the second time that head coach Al Golden and his staff has been selected to produce the DVD set. In 2010 while at Temple, Golden’s staff also developed the video set, which was lauded by NFL Football Operations for their exceptional presentation.
“Coach Golden has always been an advocate of teaching safe and proper fundamentals that are transferrable from the youth level to professional,” said Jerry Horowitz, Director of High School Player Development in Football Operations for the NFL. “The 2013 Miami Hurricane video produced by Coach Golden and his outstanding staff emphasizes the proper way to set up drills and the best practices for teaching blocking and tackling.”
“To be selected by the NFL to produce a DVD for its annual HSPD program is a tremendous honor for the University of Miami Football program,” Golden said. “It’s also a great honor for our staff to be chosen for the second time in four years for this program.”
“We are building something special at the University of Miami and this is an amazing branding opportunity for the University of Miami,” Golden said. “Not only is the ‘U’ one of the most iconic brands in all of college football, but it will now be distributed to every single high school in the United States. That’s phenomenal.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to HSPD Director Jerry Horowitz and the NFL for believing the mission of the Miami Football program. I’d also like to thank our entire coaching and operations staff, Video Coordinator Stu Cramer as well as assistant video coordinator Jason Spitulnik for their commitment to excellence and their generosity in delivering the ‘U’ brand to more than 20,000 high schools and two million prospective students across the country.”
The Miami Hurricanes and head coach Al Golden offers a great collection of free drills and tips for the sole purpose of assisting youth and coaches. For more football fundamental videos from the Hurricanes, visit the Hurricane Football Coaches Association at hfbca.theusports.com.

Assuming the commits stick (I'm sure McDermott will), UM has the best offensive line class in a while as it comes to talent. It's a good time to get it, as Linder and Henderson are both seniors.
I'd also like to think that this will sway Michel's thinking at least a little.
Defensive line, anyone?

While Louisville and Michigan were battling it out on the hardwood Monday night, the Miami Hurricanes and the Oregon Ducks were pitted against each other in the #BosackBracket championship game.
What’s the #BosackBracket? It’s a bracket-style tournament to determine the best brand in college sports. The brand vs. brand elimination is judged on three categories:
◦Nickname and logo
◦Colors and typography
◦Uniforms and game presentation
In the #BosackBracket final, the Hurricanes were voted the best for nickname/logo and colors/typography, defeating the Ducks as the nation’s best brand.
The 2012-13 basketball season is officially over, and it was a historic one of the Miami Hurricanes - ACC champions, school-record 29 wins, Sweet 16 appearance and #BosackBracket brand champions.

Notes on Gibbons:
- Wants to be an attorney, like his mom
- Had over 37 offers, including Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, FSU, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and South Carolina.
- Thinks last year Golden got hurt in the recruiting process
- Also thinks UM shall suffer no more sanctions

Anyone holding out hope AJL would be here eventually after Prep/JUCO? Well, U can stop now...
Marshall recruit Angelo Jean-Louis was arrested earlier today and is at Western Regional Jail. Web site calling it a felony.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | April 09, 2013 at 10:31 AM
That's what I want to hear Gadbois seemed like a mean dude when he committed. Sucks for jelani, really looked forward to seeing him beast this year.

Better AJL hacks out at Marshall than to do so at UM.

Posted by: LB | April 09, 2013 at 11:28 AM
Yeah brah, $30, really? At the corner store? REALLY? I've been out of school for a while, but don't we (athletes/schollie players) still get stipends? And I know he could have asked coach for the bread or whatever he needed. The mess hall is open ALL the time homie. So it can't be for food. Shyt, worst case get one of the groupies to buy you what you need? WTF???? We had groupies at small schools, I know for DAYUM sure Marshall got groupies. Your a "star" player, your from Miami, FL (THAT HOLDS SOOOO MUCH WEIGHT UP NORTH, PLEASE BELIEVE ME!!!!!!), there is no way you couldn't get one of them broads to get you something from the corner store......Not sure if that is NCAA violation, but F the NCAA anyway.....
This is just SAD!!!!!

Posted by: LB | April 09, 2013 at 08:17 AM
Yep. Next on the hit list for A.G. He's relentless, though, and I think we're finally going to hit a couple of home runs this year re: DT recruiting.
Very sad about Louis, from a projected starter last year by Phil Steele (in May) to a felony arrest in West Virginia. I feel for his family.

Wut up Spacers!! Well got some more good news after the Gibbons commitment, there are a lot of South Florida recruits that are happy about what Golden and Co. Are doing with this class...and word around Broward County is Sony Michel should become a Cane in a few weeks, he likes this OLine Class..barring and setbacks ($EC)...lol..oh and 86, I still haven't received my shirt brother yet, sorry to bother you

"From the enforcement's staff perspective the motion to dismiss by the institution and involved individuals are attempts to deflect attention from the significant allegations that remain in the case."
Translation: The NCAA is trying to manuever itself for court.

It's that last part that worries me. But if Michel wants to make a mark collegiately, he'll come here and learn from beasts like Duke and Dallas.

Posted by: CaneRock | April 09, 2013 at 01:35 PM
Like I said before we are just a few injuries away, on that DEE- front from being seive city. I hate to hear Hamilton got hurt. He, I believe, had already had knee surgery before he got to us.

Deecane,
Don't put too much stock in the word around Broward. I'm born, raised & still live here in Lauderdale. All the kids that played against or camped with Alex Collins said he was going to the "U" & he was always a can fan growing up. We know how that turned out. I've been hearing the same thing about Sony that I heard about Alex. Sony is supposed to be a die hard cane fan. We'll see but I won't hold my breath. As long as Yearby holds it down, we'll be fine...

Susan's still got the love for Seantrel. Listen to the beginning of the video here: http://www.hurricanesports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=28700&SPID=103763&SPSID=658365
"Seantrel, you must be real pleased with your decision to uh... not turn pro."
"You seem really upbeat."
You can hear it in her voice...

CoCane,
I hear you..i was raised in Overtown and moved to Cutler Ridge as an teen/adult, and I have family there so I understand..I just think last year Alex was more worried about sanctions with his coaches in his ear..I think the main reason we have all these commits so far is these recruits get a good feel that the worse is past Miami...
Posted by: DeeCane | April 09, 2013 at 03:42 PM
Sean Allen on OTL said something to the affect of "When Miami open their doors to Shapiro they didnt know he was a fraudster,..when the NCAA did, they knew"

Unfortunately the knee injury for Jelani Hamilton was to the same knee he had injured in h.s. Apparently this one happened during a nono-contact drill, too. Hopefully the MRI will show good news, but somehow I don't think this will be the case (90%). Bigtime hope I'm wrong, for both the sake of this kid who could have a bright future and the DL.
Posted by: JCane | April 09, 2013 at 10:09 PM
J cane positive thoughts going out to the kid. 86 I wonder if promises were made to the new Ol recruits that they would not be moved to the other side of the ball.

Slightly off-topic, but The Rock tore his abdomen and abductor muscles off the bone during his main event match against John Cena at WrestleMania XXIX. That said, he showed true U-Tough and wrestled the last 15 minutes of the match with the injury.
