Your Miami Hurricanes prepare to wrap up Spring football practice next weekend with the annual Spring Game at Sun Life Stadium. The game, which will replicate real in-game situations and scenarios, will be played on Saturday, April 13 at 3 PM and televised on ESPN3.
Last Friday Al Golden's squad traveled across Alligator Alley to Naples on the lovely Southwest coast of Florida. There the Hurricanes held their second scrimmage of the Spring at Naples High School. It was a lively affair in front of a crowd of about 3,000 fans that was punctuated by several big hits by the defense to go along several big plays by the offense.
Some players that stood out during the scrimmage were DE Anthony Chickillo (3 Sacks), DB Nate Dortch (INT), WR Allen Hurns (TD), WR Rashawn Scott (9 catches/128 yards) and RB Dallas Crawford who had a chance to shine in front of his hometown crowd and scored a TD.
On one particular play highly recruited Freshman TE Standish Dobard attempted to catch a pass over the middle of the field and was absolutely leveled by MLB Raphael Kirby. Dobard stayed on the ground for several minutes being tended to by UM trainers while he tried to remember what area code he was in (the 941 not the 305).
Yesterday I spoke to Dobard and asked how he was doing after the big hit. He told me that he was 100% healthy and ready to go at practice when the Canes resume their weekly prep on Monday.
Just as I predicted about one year ago, QB Gray Crow is currently embroiled in a heated battle with Ryan Williams for the backup spot behind entrenched Senior starter Stephen Morris.
It now appears that Crow has the skill set, mobility and toughness that new UM offensive coordinator James Coley apparently is looking for at the QB position.
We hope to see you, along with our buddy Terrance and many of our other good friends, at Sun Life Stadium next Saturday for the Spring Game.
GO CANES!

UpNorth...either that or like a team of 20 OL and 2 QB, 2 RB and 4 WR. Maybe we will just choose NOT to play any DL at all and just go with LBs and DBs? LOL

Should somehow EJ comesback do most of u really believe a Freshman will put a productive and probaly the best LB in the unit on the bench? This group is much better when EJ is playing, and furthermore i"ll take a proven ready college player in RS-J Devonte Bond over a frosh any day.I'm not saying he isn't going to play he will, just not get more time than a EJ and Bond who were both very productive players for there teams.

No prob Buzz.
And that first hit was on Dillard, #32.
If those hits from the video are the norm for Tolson, then it's gonna hard to keep Him off the field...EVEN! with Bush and Jenkins on the team.
