The 2013 college football season is shaping up to be a great opportunity for your Miami Hurricanes football team.
UM Head coach Al Golden finally has a team he can call his own as the transition is now almost 100% complete from the last coaching regime in Coral Gables.
In addition, the schedule, for the first time in many years, looks friendly.
The good news is that the 2013 version of the University of Miami football team appears to be a solid, talented and cohesive team indeed.
The only apparent remaining weakness appears to be at defensive tackle and some depth at linebacker, but other than that this squad is strong across the board and stacked with some serious offensive firepower.
Speaking of strong, this season the UM football team should finally start to show and reap the dividends from the Golden inspired "U Tough" weight training and off-season conditioning program that was so negligently absent under Randy Shannon. The team strength testing results speak for themselves.
After another Summer conditioning session it is very possible that Miami may actually be approaching the goal of becoming as big, strong and physical as the elite programs in the Country.
However, those gains in the weight room now must be translated onto the football field and into the W-L column in year three of the Golden era. Simply put, slogans alone will not get it done. So now the question is:
"What do you think the Miami Hurricanes record will be in 2013?"
Football UF vs Canes game will be at noon

The Herb hates those noon kick-off times. Why play at noon when it's hot as hell in Florida?

FAU vs Canes (football) game will be at 8:00pm.

With Notre Dame-Michigan getting a prime time window (on ABC or ESPN) on Sept.7, UF at UM was set for noon that day on ESPN.

Lol, I just happened to not be busy the last 10 mins or so.

Two-RBI single from Stubbs, and the #Canes are trailing the #Heels 5-0 in the third; Whaley warming in the bullpen

Noon kickoff is an attempt to keep the amount of beverage induced violence in the stands to an absolute minimum and to avoid streakers like during the F$U game last year.

I love Duke Johnson as much as anyone, but Top 10? In the NFL? A RB? That's 5'9"? I think that's a bit of a stretch. I could see 1st rounder, but its such a QB league. QB/DL/OL and maybe an elite WR/CB get drafted in the Top 10.
Florida is the key to 10/10+ wins. We play them at a point where we can beat them. How that game goes will tell us a lot about our team. I say 9 wins are expected. 8 wins and there will be plenty of doubters. 7 and 70% of the community is screaming for an elite coach. 10 wins means we are probably in the ACC CG. 11 wins means we are ACC Champs. I think 8 is the floor. I think we win a bowl game this year. I think we win at least 9 games.

Canes get back-to-back singles from Fieger and San Juan; two on and one out for Kennedy, Miami trailing 7-0 T-7

UNC beating up the big wall in LF at DBAP. Five hits have bounced off it today.

UNC makes it 8-0 on Miami throwing error.

So much for the hot hitting. We're back to the norm.

Wow we got the mercy rule pulled on us in the bottom of the 8th! Sad....

Now if there only was a mercy rule for the season ...

I've got 10-2.

************************************************
I am going with 8 - 4 and division champs. I still have close calls with GT and NC State in the back of my mind. I may change my mind but will need to see the product (defense) if I am to improve my prediction.

Excited... on my way to the Chicago Coaches' Dinner!!! I'm going to walk up to Golden and let him know I'm proud to have him running the program.

I'm sorry but maybe U haven't heard:
8-4 is bitchable
9-3 is acceptable
10-2 is reachable

11-3 ACC Coastal Champs and winner of Chik Fil A Peach Bowl.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | May 23, 2013 at 10:05 PM
8-4 is where it's at. With a bowl invite and win we can finish in the top 25, maybe top 20.
Long range forecast....
8-4 for 2014.....we retool a bit after Morris, Duke carries the load. D starts to come into focus.
10-2 for 2015....we'll finally have enough talent, depth and experience to make a run for the top 10.....

LTCF...OK read this slowly and take it all in:
Barring any significant NCAA issues and penalties there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE that UM goes 8-4 the next two years.
Golden and these players will do much, MUCH better than that. It will be more like 10-2 and 11-1. Bet on it!
IF Golden goes 8-4 the next two years and loses to teams like UNC, GT, NCST and UVA you will not need OGV to run him out of town because I personally will call for him to be fired.
If Golden goes 8-4 the next two years I would expect that he would expect to be fired because his recruiting edge will have been lost at that point.
BUT THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN. HE WILL NOT FAIL AND TRUST ME 8-4 IN 2013 AND 2014 IS A FAILURE.
Now...did U get that?
Posted by: SOUP | May 23, 2013 at 11:37 PM
9-3. We're still going to be inconsistent. A year older, bigger, stronger and faster but still thin at key spots. I don't know about division champs yet. Have to see what Va Tech has coming back.

LOL!! Gotta appreciate the loyalty of the fans on the blog...
We'll see when it's all over.....
Do we have last years predictions? I think I called it 7-5 or 6-6.....
Posted by: Account Deleted | May 24, 2013 at 07:48 AM
8-4 in 2014 would be a disaster. The depth and talent on the team speak to a double digit season two years from now.
