RE: Kaaya... For those of U who say "OMG his only offer was SDSU?!?!?", think about it this way: Would U rather us be the last big school to offer, or the first?
We were the first, and he committed. He'll have 20 offers by the time NSD comes around.

Takeaways have such a critical impact on winning and losing.
Over the last four seasons in college football, Oregon leads the nations with 131 takeaways. During the span, the Ducks were 46-7 and played in four consecutive BCS bowl games.
A year ago, Will Muschamp was dumbfounded that Florida accumulated only 14 takeaways in 2011. That statistic ranked the Gators 112th nationally in takeaways.
Muschamp decided to put an extreme emphasis on 'rips, strips, bats, and picks' leading up the 2012 season. The Gators followed up by increasing the number of takeaways to 30, which ranked 17th nationally.
Former Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said, "There's really two kinds of turnovers. One that I'll call a 'conscious effort.' You strip the quarterback. You get a big hit on the running back."
"Then there are some that are an unconscious effort. It was an overthrown ball and you picked it."

Bill Belichick just does things differently.
While giving the keynote address as a sports medicine seminar in Boston last week, Belichick explained how he builds championship teams, and his take on the oldest cliché in sports illustrated how he looks at things differently.
"People say all the time there's no 'I' in team,'' Belichick said, according to The Boston Herald. "That's true. But there's an 'I' in win. Within a team, strong individual performance determines whether or not we win. You can stand around all day and hold hands in the locker room chanting 'Team, team, team.' That's not going to do anything.
"Individual performance is critical to winning. Individual toughness is critical to winning. Every member of our team is a shareholder. Are they all exactly equal? Of course not.''

The University of Miami Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Steve Felde as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, focusing on Canes men’s basketball and women’s soccer.
"We're very excited to add Steve Felde to our basketball coaching staff," said Coach Jim Larrañaga. "Steve comes very highly recommended by Tubby Smith and the basketball coaches at Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Steve is a high energy guy with a great background in strength and conditioning for men's basketball teams. He replaces Jim Krumpos who did an outstanding job for us. Steve has the same philosophy as Coach Krumpos, which will be to allow our players the consistency and continuity we are looking for with our program."
Felde (pronounced Fel-dee) comes to Miami after a year at Minnesota where he was the assistant director of strength and conditioning for the Gophers, who played in the third round of the 2013 NCAA men’s basketball tournament. In that position he oversaw all aspects of men’s basketball weight lifting, plyometric and conditioning programs. He also monitored nutritional needs for basketball student-athletes and implemented strength programs for men’s and women’s hockey, men’s swimming and men’s golf.
Prior to his time in Minneapolis, Felde was the director of strength and conditioning at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee from 2007-12. While there, he oversaw strength and conditioning programs for 13 NCAA Division I sports including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, track and field, men’s and women’s swim/dive, tennis, cross country and volleyball.

The Herb just got back from a trip to the poor man's South Beach, N. Myrtle Beach and of all things got rammed in the rear end on the way home. The third time in the last 6 years someone has hit the rear end of one my cars. No injuries though so that's a plus.
Just a few of my Monday morning rants. Morris has got to go. That's all the Herb has to say about that, well I do too. Losing 2 out of 3 to B.C. & Wake is disgraceful, plain & simple. Now that's all I have to say on that matter.
I see where we just got another offensive player no less and another QB to boot. My how times have turned. I remember a few short years ago, we couldn't get one to come here, now it looks like we won't be satisfied until we have 10 locked up and in line. I'm sure it wasn't that hard of a decision for Kaaya to make considering it was between us and that left coast power San. Diego ST. Now where's the Beef, Al. How about the DEE, Dog!

The 2013 Hurricane Club #BuildingChampions Spring Tour concludes Thursday with its final stop in New York City. Head football coach Al Golden and US Olympic track coach Amy Deem will be in attendance.
The May 16 event in New York City will be held at Brother Jimmy’s on Lexington Avenue. Hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a reception at 7:30 p.m. Pre-RSVP Hurricane Club members are $40, while non-HC members are $50. Day-of entry will be $60.
New York City is the final of six Spring Tour stops. The #BuildingChampions tour began April 6 with the Southwest Florida Golf Classic in Naples, a day after the Hurricanes’ spring scrimmage at Naples High School. The second tour stop took Coach Golden and crew to Boca Raton for an April 26 luncheon.
Tampa (May 8), Orlando (May 9) and Jacksonville (May 10) were the last three #BuildingChampions Spring Tour stops. Golden was joined in Tampa by National Coach of the Year Jim Larrañaga and women’s basketball head coach Katie Meier.
Chicago will be the site of an additional national fundraising event. The University of Miami Alumni Club of Chicago, UM Alumni Association and Hurricane Club will host the annual Chicago Coaches Dinner on Thursday, May 23 at the Westin River North in Chicago.

Wait until they get to 14. Then the logic of not giving up the name will really start to strain credibility.
Rocky Long knows his stuff, nothing wrong upping the ante on him and getting a verbal for someone he was in on first before everybody else. This guy's high-lights, can anyone find one of him throwing from under center in a formation? The only game action I've seen, most of the other players looked like Wonka factory workers with football pads on except for the commit, so I'm guessing he's 6'2" in cleats. I've heard of Charminade before vaguely, but if it's not LBPoly Jackrabbits on that ocean, I'm pretty uniformed about who's good year to year. Guy has good awareness, touch is impressive, arm strength is fine for his stage of development but will need to improve if he doesn't already have another gear for the quick slant route throw that I didn't see. Not a single play I can find shows him under center though and he doesn't seem to be frame big enough or fast enough to win games using his legs to beat you. Ignoring the fact I don't want to see the QB designed scrambling much to begin with in the first place, really he seems to only be a situational bootleg type of athlete at QB but I could see him moving the football with play-action heavy throws designed to move the pocket and play to his strengths, accuracy on the run and his previously mentioned superior field vision.
On a side tangent, I found it hilarious that almost every single highlight in the string outs of the plays for this QB I saw, the defense had both CB's playing 10 yards off every time on the outside when the ball was snapped. He won't need to 'adjust' to the college game much at the 'Tree to what he'll be seeing at the next level if he signs here I'm thinking!

Can't remember Forest meaning much for any length of time in the last 20 years or so, and if I'm not giving them credit due, please let me know otherwise, at least but I point that out as a compliment to Golden that he's ceding no part of the state to anybody on the recruiting trail. He's got a lot of ground to catch up there and time's getting into running a little short to do so.

Yea, my brother didn't like the previous staff much either. I think they just got 9th grade, too. Most schools with only 10th-12th don't do much anyway. Having that extra year helps. See Lakeland's run after the first 9th grade class won State as seniors. It was always tough competing with Brandenton Manatee who had 9th- 12th. I remember Tommie Frazer running right by me a couple times. Lol

As for Kaaya (pronounced KIE-ya), he is thrilled to have committed to the Hurricanes, according to his coach, Ed Croson, who also coached UM kicker Matt Goudis.
“Coach Coley played the biggest part in the connection,” said Croson, who listed San Diego State, Oklahoma State, Colorado and Stanford as other options. “Brad feels great about what UM wants to do with the offense — throw the ball around a lot — and he is convinced it’s a good fit for him.
Brad Kaaya is 6-4, almost a 4.0 student and has a 240-pound hang clean. For a 17-year-old, that’s huge. He’s a great big guy, and he’s explosive. He’s seen the quarterbacks at UM, and he feels he can compete with them.”

Charminade is not a pro style offence that is why Ricky Town transferred. Kaaya is a good kid, but he is no Ricky Town. Interceptions go up when he is forced to go past first read. Ricky makes all the throws, can make all the reads and he can run exceptionally well when he needs to. He is in a league by himself. The coaches are coming to see him soon and probably going to try and get him to commit. He likes Miami and his dad likes Miami's coaches. He likes how honest they seam to be. So far has a very good feeling about them and Miami. Remember Ricky Town has two more years to improve just think about that. He will be one of the best Pro style QB to come out of high school if not the best in many years. I am amazed at how hard he works on improving his game. his body and his mind. We need to keep him away from Alabama and Nick Satan. He will be visiting them soon. I just don't think he will go to Alabama. Georgia has a better chance. Believe me when I say this, Miami is still one of the top schools on his small list of schools. It's up to the coaches not to lose him. He and his dad love the Miami coaches.
I hope to see some of you in June when we come to the camp.
Soup maybe we can go fishing if I can make it down. A friend of mine lives in Haines city which I believe is not far from you.
