The Miami Hurricanes earned a berth to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Monday, marking the program's NCAA record-tying 41st consecutive trip to the postseason.
With their selection to the Louisville Regional, the Hurricanes have tied Johns Hopkins Blue Jays lacrosse for the longest postseason streak in history at 41 straight years. The Blue Jays' streak came to an end this season when the team was left out of the 2013 postseason field.
Second-seeded Miami (36-23) will join host and first-seeded Louisville (46-12), third-seeded Oklahoma State (39-17) and fourth-seeded Bowling Green (24-29) for the first round of the postseason. The Hurricanes own an all-time record of 116-41 (.739) in the Regional round, but finished 0-2 in the Coral Gables Regional in 2012.
The Hurricanes own an all-time record of 18-5 against their opponents in their field, including a flawless 13-0 series advantage over Bowling Green. Miami leads Oklahoma State by a narrow 4-3 margin in the all-time series, while Louisville has taken two of three head-to-head contests.
ACC competitors Florida State (Tallahassee, Fla.), North Carolina (Chapel Hill, N.C.), North Carolina State (Raleigh, N.C.), Virginia (Charlottesville, Va.) and Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, Va.) were among the 16 hosts announced on Sunday. Overall, eight teams from the ACC were selected among the field of 64 - the second-most of any conference nationwide.
NCAA Regionals, which will consist of four-team double-elimination tournaments at 16 campus sites, will get under way Friday (May 31) and run through Monday (June 3) as necessary. The eight regional winners will advance to Super Regional play, again at campus sites, June 7-10. Those eight winners will then move on the 67th Men's College World Series, set for June 15-25/26 at Omaha, Neb.
First ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Packed her bags and moved to Florida,
I been blue since she's been gone,
here in this Bowling Green motel room,
is now my old Kentucky home,
All she left me was some Whiskey,
and them funny little cigarettes she rolled,
I guess it was her main intention,
to watch our dreams go up in smoke,
Its another Blue Grass morning, I'm gonna blow my mind away,
here in this Bowling Green motel room,
looks like its gonna be another Blue Grass Day!

SOUP,
The Heat didn't get robbed. They robbed themselves. I wish Spoelstra would realize that Hibbert isn't quick enough to guard Bosh off of the dribble from the high post. Hibbert isn't working hard on defense because all he has to do is guard the rim or put a hand up when Bosh shoots a jumper. Smh...

Ft. Worth (TX) All Saints Episcopal OL Demetrius Knox lists a top five of Miami, Ohio State, UCLA, Florida State and Oregon. So far he's taken one visit out of those - to Ohio State.
"I'll visit the others this summer," he says, adding that his Miami visit will be at some point in June.
Knox says he has no one in front out of his top five.
He landed a Hurricane offer in early May and says he started getting recruited by UM a month before that.
"I talk to coaches there, coach (Art) Kehoe the most," Knox said. "He not only talks about football stuff, also about my daily life, how I'm doing in school. I talk to the coaches there every day."
Of why UM made his top five, Knox said, "I love everything about it - the tradition, everything. I see them going in the direction I'm trying to go in - they want to win a national championship, and I want to win a national championship in college."
What does he want in the college program he chooses?
"Well, all those (in his top five) are schools that are very prestigious in academics," Knox said. "I'm looking for a place I can just call home. If Miami's that place that's where I'll end up. I want a team that's just going to go out there and compete for a national championship."
Of when he'll announce a decision, Knox said, "I plan on committing in January at the Army All-America game ... or around national signing day."

Athlon Sports rankings for 2013:
29. Miami
It’s been a decade since Miami last won 10 games in a season, and the lack of success has gradually eroded expectations. But things could be on the upswing in Coral Gables despite a never-ending NCAA investigation that has dogged Al Golden in his two-plus seasons as coach. With eight starters returning for a potentially explosive offense, four starters back on a rebuilding defense and a manageable schedule, the Hurricanes are a legitimate contender for a Coastal Division title and their first trip to the ACC title game.
