4-Real

Thanks Ohio. Do we have a legitimate shot with Vanderdoes?

Ohio_Cane

4-Real,

“I feel like I have to apologize to the Miami program because a certain website took my words out of quotes and the main reason I wanted to de-commit from Miami is because I wanted to be neutral going through the process. I felt like I had committed too early and I wanted to be patient with it,” said Rudolph.

Rudolph had more to say about the situation with Miami.

“I saw the reports or whatever and I said man that’s not me who would down talk any coach, especially since I think highly of Coach Golden and the rest of the staff. That wasn’t my intention to bad mouth me and my dad really got on me about it so that’s why I wanted to address the issue. Like I said, it’s nothing bad about Miami. I just wanted to go through the process being neutral. They’re still one of my top schools.”

Also, addressed issue with coaches of him being recruited as an "athlete" instead of strictly WR. Canes now recruiting him as WR.

Parents won't interfere with his decision. Wants him to make right choice for him and stick with it

Spoke To Rick Sr. A little while ago, Major Applewhite from Texas visited with Ricky for about 3 or 4 hours today. They want him to commit our coaches better stay on Ricky. Rick thinks Miami is easing off because of Kaaya, they better get with it. I did tell him no way Miami is easing off they still want him badly. I told him again there is no better place to win a NC than at Miami if you want to be the greatest QB in the land.

Thanks everyone... but, the article basically wrote itself. Kehoe was just a storehouse of knowledge and info... I'm sure I could have kept him there for a few hours and never heard the end of the stories he could share.

Like I said at the end. After he left I thought of at least 10 more questions I "should" have asked, but it was cool all the same to have him there one-on-one.

Thanks to SOUP for editing the piece and adding the pics. And of course thanks to SOUP, and ALL OF YOU for this great site!

#24 - Dalvin Cook
#42 - Joseph Yearby

LMAO!

In the previous rankings, when Yearby was committed to FSU, he was rated a couple spots ABOVE Cook. Now that Yearby is a Cane he dropped well BELOW Cook.

Scout has Yearby at #25 overall and Cook at #71.

Scout has Yearby at #4 RB and Cook at #11 RB.

Posted by: 86Cane | May 20, 2013 at 02:47 PM

Yearby is a better runner and Cook has better straight-line speed. I would like the Canes to get them both, but I prefer Yearby as a RB at this point in their development.

Notable quotes:

“One of my dad’s work friends, he has been a Miami fan forever and he suggested [I camp there] so I went down and checked it out. I really liked what I saw from them. Great area, great coaches, Coach (Al) Golden is awesome. It’s a great coaching staff so I really liked them.”

Heh, I think I know who that friend is... props to Harry.

Miami Hurricanes junior center Shane McDermott is one of 44 players named to the 2013 Rimington Trophy spring watch list, released by the trophy’s selection committee. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top collegiate center in NCAA Division I FBS.

McDermott is one of five ACC centers on the list, joined by Russell Bodine (North Carolina), Jay Finch (Georgia Tech), Macky MacPherson (Syracuse) and Bryan Stork (Florida State).

An All-ACC honorable mention selection in 2012 by the league coaches, McDermott started all 12 games at center for the Hurricanes. He anchored the offensive line that paved the way for the ACC’s third-best passing offense (295.4) and fifth-best total offense (440.2). As a redshirt freshman in 2011, he saw action in 10 games, allowing no sacks and registering zero penalties on the season.

The Lake Worth, Fla., native was awarded the Walter Kichefski Endowed Football Scholarship at the 2013 UM Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and he will graduate this summer with his bachelor’s degree.

Miami’s Brett Romberg won the Rimington Trophy in 2002 after contributing the Miami’s 34-game winning streak from 2000-2002. He never allowed a sack at center and led an offensive line that helped produce three 1,000-yard rushers – James Jackson, Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee.

SHANE McDERMOTT ON RIMINGTON WATCH LIST

UM center Shane McDermott is one of 44 players named to the 2013 Rimington Trophy spring watch list. The award is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate center.

McDermott, a junior, missed spring practice after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery.

An All-ACC honorable mention selection in 2012 by league coaches, McDermott started all 12 games at center for UM. UM had the ACC's third-best passing offense (295.4-yards-per-game average) and fifth-best total offense (440.2). As a redshirt freshman in 2011, he played in 10 games, allowing no sacks and not being flagged for any penalties.

McDermott is from Lake Worth. He was awarded the Walter Kichefski Endowed Football Scholarship at the most recent UM Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet. He will earn his bachelor's degree this summer.

McDermott's younger brother (I won't say "little'' brother as he's 6-6 and approaching 300 pounds), Kc McDermott, has already pledged his commitment to UM for the Class of 2014, a huge get for the Canes.
Kc is a four-star lineman, according to Rivals.com, and is listed as the 40th best player overall, regardless of position. He is listed as the fifth best tackle in the Class of 2014.

Notre Dame also wanted Kc, and actually still wants him, but Kc said he's not budging from his commitment to the Hurricanes.

Barry Jackson:

We'll get to Monday Heat news in a second, but first a quick UM update:

Defensive end Ricardo Williams has sought his release from UM and UM will not stand in his way. Receiver Robert Lockhart also has explored transferring. Canesport.com reported that both have been granted their release, but UM said it could not confirm that and has nothing to announce on either player.

Williams, a three-star prospect out of Homestead High, redshirted in 2011 and played in one game in 2012.

Lockhart, a four-star prospect from Boca Raton High and Fork Union Military Academy, was injured in the second game he played in 2012 after sitting out the first six games.

UM was not counting on Williams being a major contributor this upcoming season, and its outstanding depth at receiver will make Lockhart's potential departure a non-issue.

UMike

Another prominent theme in the Rivals250, especially this early in the recruiting calendar, is the proliferation of unranked players moving up drastically in the rankings.

That is the case again as Falcon, Colo., athlete Kalen Ballage checked in at No. 136, Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Baptist tight end Milan Richard moved to No. 148, West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman wide receiver Travis Rudolph went to No. 153, and Derby, Kan., tight end Deandre Goolsby was listed at No. 171.

Other previously unranked players making it into the 200 included Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian's Country Day linebacker Connor Strachan (No. 179), Detroit (Mich.) Country Day quarterback Tyler Wiegers (No. 180), Bossier City (La.) Parkway quarterback Brandon Harris (No. 186), Imperial, Calif., running back Royce Freeman (No. 187), Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy quarterback Michael O'Connor (No. 188), Opelika, Ala., cornerback Stephen Roberts (No. 197) and West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade quarterback Brad Kaaya at No. 200.

UMike, when will Rivals realize that it benefited Miami's team ranking and thus feel compelled to remove that fourth star?

Won't take long.

TonyCane

UMike, when will Rivals realize that it benefited Miami's team ranking and thus feel compelled to remove that fourth star?

UMike

Also..with Kaaya picking up his 4th star, Miami now moves into 9th in the team rankings.

UMike

4-Real...A lot of movement in the new Rivals..dont think it means to much lol..Kaaya looked good in the elite 11 so they probably bumped him up

4-Real

Brad Kaaya awarded a 4 th star on rivals.

4-Real

Not that it matters but Khairi Clark & Valentine are no longer in the rivals top 100 anymore, & they won't be unless they commit somewhere other than the U.

TonyCane

Basically the recruit can't flip, as he risks losing his college eligibility or severely curtailing it.

TonyCane

One hypothetical question....IF a recruit has partaked in the $EC benefits that are alleged to be out there...does that not place the recruit in a blackmail situation if he wants to flip his commitment?

UMike

From a poster on CIS..

word on the skreet regarding Sony
Scout I spoke with said no way Sony sticks with UGA.

UMike

Per Pete Ariz..

2015 McArthur DB Kendrell McFadden (6’3”, 190) is one of the top prospects in South Florida. The rangy athlete already holds offers from the likes of Miami, Clemson, Florida, FSU, and Ohio State, but McFadden has been staying focused.

“After starting my first year and leading the team in tackles, my coach had told me in the spring that I had 32 offers. I was young so I got kind of big headed. My bubble got popped so now I’m working extra hard because I know I can lose it all at any time,” said McFadden.

McArthur isn’t a traditional power in Broward county, but McFadden and his teammates are using that as motivation.

“Around here in Hollywood where I stay, we are always talked about as being sorry and this and that so we take that all in as motivation.”

McFadden lines up nearly everywhere on the football field so his position at the next level is still undetermined, but he takes pride in being able to disrupt the offense in a multitude of ways.

“Quarterbacks have to keep an eye on me because my coach moves me around to safety, corner, and linebacker. Once you find me on the field, I’ll always be in a different spot. I’m working more at corner now because I’m trying to prove to people that I can move like that, but at the same time, my coach tells me to learn ore than one position so I can be able to know how to move around. I’ll even be playing some defensive end this year.”

With offers from many of the top programs across the country, McFadden is still in the process of cutting his list.

“Right now I’m open up to everybody, talking to as many coaches as I can. This summer, I’ll have a top school or a few schools because I really want to get out there to campuses and meet coaches.”

The hometown Miami Hurricanes are a school McFadden is taking a close look at.

“I’m most definitely interested in them. I could say I’m really close to them and I have a great bond with the coaches. I talk to the defensive coordinator Coach D.”

Miami coach Al Golden has used a specific pitch with McFadden to grab his attention.

“When I speak to Al Golden, he always tells me to come there because my family will always be there to watch me, so I look at it as a good thing.”

For the first two years of his high school career, McFadden has rocked the number 26 in honor of the late great Sean Taylor.

“I told myself coming in that I would wear 26 my first two years of high school because Sean Taylor is hands down my favorite player no matter what. Every game, I put ‘Rest in peace Sean Taylor’ on my wrist tape. I’m going to wear number 5 my last two years because my cousin died on the field wearing that same number.”
