I got to admit, I know NOTHING about Ricky Town other than what posters have put on here. I do agree I think we are a little ahead of ourselves thinking a 2015 recruit will lead us to the promise land lol..but as fans its normal to discuss targets and kids were hopeful to get...imo

Take at look at his most highlight film, and watch only his feet.

UpNorthCane27

Ricky Town is a better QB at this point then Alin Eduard and he's 2 years younger. Just basing my opinion on youtube film.

Ricky Town is a straight up young man, unlike Alin who gushes on twitter about our Rivals FSU offering him.

#TownCane!!

Ohio_Cane

I agree that Town has very good feet, nice ball placement and release, and a strong arm for his age.

What I WON'T do is anoint him as the 2nd-coming of Ken Dorsey. Yet. He's 16-17 years old and will be a Junior in HS in a few months.

All that said, I want him to be a Cane. Don't care if he's the only QB taken next year. Get him, Al!

Brevardcane

I agree we want Town; There's reason Al and Fisch pulled him aside at camp and spent forever with him.

UpNorthCane27

There will never be another Dorsey at The U.... But there will be a Ricky Town!!! lol, but I agree it's tough to give kids all the credit but hey its wishful thinking by fas and one thing we live off of is HOPE!!

Watch for the bat signal.

That is all.

Canes should check out Brentwood Academy (Tenn) WR CJ Sanders. Kid's got the pedigree.

Anyone remember him? No? Well, he's already famous.

He played the younger Ray Charles in "Ray" with Jamie Foxx. Now, he's a really good WR.

From Tito...

Tyrell Tomlin from Georgia

He likes Miami since he was a fan of them growing up.

Has offers from Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee and Clemson.

He is thinking about camping over the summer at Miami.

I'm certain Town is a great young man and will be an asset to any program he chooses.

By the same token, grown men obsessing over him at this stage in the process seems a little on the odd side, and may be counterproductive. Remember 2015 is a lifetime in recruiting years and a lot could happen between now and then.

I say let things unwind and we'll see where we stand in 2014. You either trust in the coaches and the process or you don't, either way, little we can do here, except maybe turning the kid and his family off.p

I think I read the U allows coaches from FIU & FAU attend the camp?

UMike

TJL...I think you might be right...OR..they let players from those schools come to their Pro Day..one or the other lol

Ohio_Cane

Golden has FIU, FAU, and some MAC and MEAC head coaches come in to evaluate kids during all of his camps.

The local HS coaches come also.

Not MAC... I think he actually said Sun Belt and MEAC coaches.

FROM CASAGRANDE AT THE SS:

As the summer college football vacuum fills time in anticipation of fall, the annual tradition of magazine predictions are in. A year after picking Miami to finish near the bottom of the ACC, there's a bit of national buzz surrounding coach Al Golden's team.

A look at three of the major publications' national rankings:
•Phil Steele: No. 25
•Athlon: No. 28
•Lindy's: No. 24

The Phi Steele magazine isn't yet on news stands, but I picked up a copy of Lindy's recently. It included several rankings with Hurricane connections. A sampling:
•Quarterback: Stephen Morris No. 16
•Running backs: Duke Johnson No. 6
•Outside linebackers: Denzel Perryman No. 9
•Top backfield: Miami No. 6
•NFL draft prospects: Seantrel Henderson No. 46, Stephen Morris No. 50.
•Top 12 non-conference games: Florida at Miami No. 10
•Recruiting: Miami No. 20

Ray-Ray Armstrong began his college career with a ton of expectations. He had several decent years as a safety at Miami, but he was kicked off the team prior to last season for illegal contact with Miami boosters.

His maturity issues played a major role in why he went undrafted in this year’s draft.

Head coach Jeff Fisher and the St. Louis Rams decided to give Armstrong a chance to turn things around. They gave Janoris Jenkins a similar opportunity last season. The surprising thing is that the Rams are lining Armstrong up at outside linebacker.

Armstrong's transition will be interesting to watch, as he’s a bit undersized for the position. He will need to add some bulk to his 214-pound frame in order to make the most of this opportunity. However, he showed during his college days that he knows how to play the run.

No one will accuse Brad Kaaya of stepping away from a challenge.

They may, however, question his logic, but Kaaya, who committed to the University of Miami's 2014 recruiting class May 13, isn’t concerned about what most consider a logjam at Kaaya’s position.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound quarterback from West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade Prep chose UM despite there already being six quarterbacks on the current roster, and only one of those, Stephen Morris, is a senior.

“The roster didn’t really factor into it at all,” Kaaya said. “I feel like a lot of quarterbacks would shy away with that many exceptionally good quarterbacks on the roster, but I’m going where it fits me.

“I’m not worrying about who’s there and who’s leaving and who’s coming in. I’m just going there to play football .. to compete and play.”

He is fully aware of who’s there.

“Stephen Morris will be leaving, of course, but Ryan Williams is there and they’ll still have five quarterbacks there, and then [Alin] Edouard committed and [Kevin] Olsen is coming in,” he said.

Some I'm watching this East Finals game and I keep thinking to myself;

"It took Boston to not let old mediocre Volkun look like an all world goaltender? If only Pitt had somebody younger who had proven themselves in the playoffs they could play in his place instead, maybe someone who had beaten the defending champs on the road in game 7 of the finals who had to make a pressure save in the final minute to hold onto the win to prove himself in the playoffs, or something along those lines, they wouldn't be in this situation of having Tuka Rask send them home short of the championship round."

Oh well, at least I tried to let you penguin fans know Doug Murray was washed up when he was traded for though.

DT Jenkins thrilled about commitment

After participating in last weekend’s Al Golden Football Camp, De Paul Catholic (NJ) DT Courtel Jenkins (6’1”, 315) got the good news that he had received an offer from the ‘Canes. It didn’t take long for him to decide that Coral Gables would be his home for the next four years, as he committed yesterday morning.

“The school is perfect academically. A degree from Miami means something. I’ll be majoring in business and it’s a top-ranked program there. I’ve trusted the coaches from day one and no they would never lie to me. They’re from Jersey, so that’s important that I have a little feeling of home. The campus is gorgeous and there’s no better opportunity out there,” said Jenkins.

With Miami’s desperate need at defensive tackle, Jenkins feels like he can make an impact early on.

“I’m a hard-worker and I get after it. I have a high motor and won’t stop until the final whistle blows. My engine keeps going and that’s what I pride myself on. The fans can expect me to work hard and contribute however I can. I want to help Miami win championships and bowl games.”

Jenkins sees himself as having the ability to stop the run and rush the passer.

“I’m a little bit of both actually. I can pass-rush and I can stop the run up the middle. I had 11 sacks last year, so that’s a lot for a defensive tackle.”

The newest ‘Canes commit described how he made it official.

“When I made my mind up yesterday, I sat down with my coach and we called Coach D’Onfrio and he put Coach Golden on the speaker phone, and then he told Coach Franklin, who was very happy.”

Ohio_Cane

Tears? Lol no.

The universe, or maybe the NHL, want Boston to win the cup after the bombings, a la Patriots after 9/11 and Saints after Katrina.
