Pete Ariz DOIN WORK!!!..

June 2nd Al Golden camp full report

**There was a lot of anticipation heading into the day about the potential quarterbacks on display. Miami commit Brad Kaaya and Malik Rosier (Miami offer) showed up as expected, but Alin Edouard was not in attendance. It’s looking less and less likely that Edouard will wind up in the class, but the ‘Canes got a stud in Kaaya. He threw a consistent spiral all day and his athleticism is apparent in drills. Rosier showed flashes of his ability, but was not as consistent as Kaaya. Rosier has a very live arm and is eerily similar to Russell Wilson in stature. James Coley was very vocal coaching the two of them, although he naturally showed more attention to Kaaya.

**One of the more interesting developments of the day was Dwyer’s Johnnie Dixon actually competing. He showed up and didn’t go through the first set of drills, but laced up and ran routes later in the day. Him and Kaaya showed a nice connection on the field and it’s interesting to see the two of them working together considering Kaaya told me on Friday that Dixon was one of the main people he was looking forward to meeting. Dixon’s mom was out there wearing a Miami hat and she was having a conversation with Kaaya’s mother. I also saw Kaaya’s mom chatting with Ermon Lane and his coaches.

**Brennan Carroll was showing a lot of love to Dixon and his mom. It looks like Miami has a very real chance with him. Dixon is a flat out stud and I don’t think the gap between him and Lane is as big as most people think. Dixon is the total package as far as size, speed, and hands. He is so smooth and catches the ball effortlessly.

**One of the bigger names out there was 2015 STA WR Devante Peete. He definitely pops out at you physically, but I was not blown away by his performance. He’s a step slow and doesn’t have consistent hands. He looked like a future tight end to me.
**American Heritage S Carter Jacobs had one of the better performances of the day. He showed good burst and feet in cone work and also held his own against the top receivers as well in 1-on-1s.

**In attendance, but did not participate: 2015 University School RB Jordan Scarlett, 2016 University School WR Sam Bruce, 2014 Champagnat Catholic DT Travonte Valentine, 2014 RB Joseph Yearby (Miami commit), 2014 WR Ermon Lane

**Immokalee ATH J.C. Jackson looked very good and the coaches were showing him a lot of attention throughout the day. Don’t expect him to be committed to Florida State for long. It will be interesting to see if Miami can get into the mix because it was obvious today that the staff loves him.

**Recently offered DE Kevin Bronson of Village Academy was participating and he looked like a beast physically. Although he wasn’t as tall as I had hoped, he has a lot of muscle with room to grow.

**South Dade WR C.J. Worton was there during the early part of the day, but stopped before route running and one-on-ones. I was looking forward to seeing him compete.

**Champagnat Catholic S Michael Johnson (Louisville commit) sat out early, but ended up participating. Johnson has a great frame and projects well down the road with his long arms.

**2014 Cocoa DT Freddie Booth-Lloyd is a name that has popped up recently as a potential target, but I would be surprised if Miami offered. He’s listed at 6’3”, but he looked closer to 6’.

**2015 Tampa Hillsborough QB Dwayne Lawson looked like a basketball player at 6’5” with a lanky build, but he looked solid throwing the ball around. He needs some work with his mechanics, but he has a lot of potential. He holds a USF offer.

**Both Tavarus and Kendrell McFadden (no relation) were in attendance and competing. This was my first look at Kendrell in person and he was as good as advertised. Coach Paul Williams was showing him a lot of attention. Miami still hasn’t offered Tavarus and I’m guessing they have questions about his speed.

**2015 Saint Andrew’s TE Jake Bargas was dominating in one-on-ones, catching everything thrown his way. He isn’t the tallest, but he’s only a sophomore so he still has room to grow. He showed great body control and caught the balls away from his body.

**Cypress Bay ATH Marquese Dudley-Gordon was working with both the receivers and defensive backs. I’m not sure the camp setting is the best for him because he’s not the biggest or fastest, but I really like him with pads on.

**American Heritage ATH Isaiah McKenzie had one of the best showings of the day. He ran a 4.43 40 and was lockdown in one-on-ones. Miami should really take a hard look at him because he can affect the game in a number of ways.

**A name to watch out for is 2015 STA WR Damon Arnette. Arnette played last season at North Broward Prep and will be apart of a great trio of receivers between himself, Corey Holmes, and Devante Peete at Aquinas. Arnette ran a 4.5 and stands at 6’1” with room to grow.

**Travis Rudolph had a great day. He beat Mike Johnson one and Johnson had to grab Rudolph's shorts to prevent a catch. Rudolph is the real deal and gets better each time I see him.

Lane Interview on Canesport

And he took an unofficial visit to UM today to watch on at the first Al Golden summer camp session.

He got to check out the potential QB's that would be throwing to him if he picks UM.

Lane says he hasn't spoken with Edouard but that he spent some time chatting with Kaaya.

"He was saying he'd love to throw to me," Lane said. "I told him `Only time will tell' (if he picks UM). Kaaya's got a strong arm, good accuracy. I spoke to his mom too, she was just saying he talks about me all the time, that he wants me to come to Miami with him."

Lane says his comfort level with the quarterbacks at the school he ultimately chooses is "a big deal. You have to have a good quarterback to get you the ball."
