SOUP. Weather forecast looking downright brutal for Thursday... :(

SOUP

Off to Sarasota, then Fort Myers. Lead, follow or get the $%#@ outta the way!

SOUP

Yeah Roach, I saw that too this AM. Maybe should postpone or adjust our plans?

roachcane77

"The bottom line is that we need to get back to recruiting the big uglies.
And then we need our coaches to make them bigger and uglier."

...and there IT is RIGHT THERE!

(How many years have I been wishing this would happen?)

NativeCane

top ten again, thank you very much!!

Any chance the OL can play on the D side? Can't hurt...

UMike

Per CIS Poster...

Daniel Gresham & Demetrius Knox; Update: On campus today

These teammates from Texas that both recently de-committed from Texas could be a package deal. Looking closer at their individual top 5 lists, the only schools they have in common are Miami and FSU. I would love to have both of these guys in this class.

Demetrius Knox is the #1 rated guard in the country. Add him to the impressive offensive line class Miami has and we could have one of the best offensive line classes ever.

Daniel Gresham although he is listed as a HB his future is a FB. At 5'10 231 with a bench press max of 340 and squat max of 650 as a high school JR, this kid can take over after Mo graduates. With his size and strength he could be another Patrick Hill for Duck, Edwards, Yearby, and hopefully Cook, to run behind.

Both of these guys have said in interviews that this staff is recruiting them hard. Get these big Texas boys down for a visit and I think they could be CANES come signing day.

Norcross TE Chris Herndon was just offered by #Miami. #Canes TE coach Larry Scott gave the news.

Looks to be his first offer

UMike

Herdon is from the same HS as 5-Star DE Lorenzo Carter (a Miami target)..and other top players..

"Any chance the OL can play on the D side? Can't hurt..."

Too bad Kehoe can only coach so far. That's a fine idea, though.

The offensive line prognosis is excellent:

Seniors:
B. Linder
Susan's Man
J. Wheeler

Juniors:
S. McDermott
J. Feliciano
M. Bunche

Sophomores:
E. Flowers
H. Wells

Redshirt Freshmen:
D. Isidora
T. Gadbois
J. Briscoe (head scratcher)

True Freshmen:
S. Odogwu
H. Knighton

Expected 2014:
S. McDermott (Shut Down Recruiting)
R. Gibbons (Shut Down Recruiting)
T. Darling
N. Linder

Reacquiring Kehoe was a beautiful decision by Golden. And to think, many of you Spacers remarked on how bad Kehoe was in respect to recruiting.

And yet:
- 3 of the two deep were recruited directly by Kehoe (Gadbois, Flowers, Odogwu).
- All five of the current starters have the expectation to be drafted at least 5th round or better by the time they complete their UM tenure.
- Kehoe's line sent Lamar Miller to the pros early and helped make Duke Johnson a household name despite only starting 5 games.
- In 2012, the offensive line allowed no sacks in back to back games twice (no sacks vs. Notre Dame).

Canesfan_1

I never got the Kehoe hate.

Look at what he's done, both in the past and today.

There are people, especially maybe on other sites, that have agendas, like anti-305, anti-old-school canes, etc

I think a lot of people mistook him suing UM as him hating UM, rather than him just wanting to be compensated after being fired by an idiot.

Hassan

Kehoe is a man amoung boys and a living legend, I am told by people close to the inside that Coach Golden has learned to rely on him for guidance, which shows a lot of respect for Mr. Kehoe. Other position coaches really need Coach Golden to sign off on an offer but Kehoe if he really wants him can pretty much offer who he wants, Kehoe knows what it takes to win 5 titles and he IS Miami Football. Sebastian wears Kehoe PJ's.

LB

Athlon chooses UM as king of the Coastal and second in the ACC behind Clemson. They'll finish ranked #29. http://www.athlonsports.com/college-football/acc-football-2013-predictions

Lindy's? #24 and finishing behind Clemson.

Ten years in the ACC? Zero championship game appearances. It gives you a glimpse how pathetic the program was and the job Golden had to clean it up. Though I wholeheartedly agree for forfeiting a championship title appearance, Golden would have achieved it in year two. Even in a poop conference like the ACC, it's a remarkable job considering how bad this program was as late as 2010.

Regardless, there is no excuse not to outright win the Coastal in 2013. Zero. Anything less than that and nine wins is an ABSOLUTE FAILURE. Regardless if D'Onofrio's patty-cake pass rush continues, the schedule is so weak that Marshall could win seven to eight games.

It's also been seven years since UM won a bowl game vs. the mighty Wolf Pack of Nevada, 17-16 at the Smurf Turf.

Bottom line. Enough crap. No more losing to UVA. Win a freaking bowl game.

Old Skool

In keeping with the theme of the article above, here's an interesting article on the sizes of Alabama's recruits compared to other colleges' recuits.

LB

We all are aware of the legendary pathetic showing of the ACC in BCS bowl games: 2-13, with the two wins coming against the Big East (Va. Tech > Cincinnati) and the mighty MAC (FSU > N. Illinois).

Since the inception of the ACC title game, Va. Tech reached it five times. FSU and Ga. Tech got there three times. B.C.? Twice? Even Clemson and Wake have had a turn. You can see the above paragraph as evidence of the conference's glaring success as the whipping boy of major college football. It's extremely difficult to take a conference seriously when their big-time wins in postseason play come against the Bearcats and the Huskies.

The ACC needs UM NOW.

LB

Inside Lindy's magazine (a descent read with a sense of humor):

- As before, Miami takes the Coastal and #24.
- Duke, Linder, and Perryman are first team-ACC. Deon Bush is second team. Susan's man and Chickillo are third team.
- Duke gets the nod for offensive player of the year.
- Stephen Morris is "Coolest in the Clutch."
- Duke Johnson is "Toughest to Bring Down."
- Susan's man is #9 in top NFL talent from the ACC.
- They note the crap schedule with important back to back games vs. the Noles and the Turkeys.
- Morris is the #16 QB (underrated).
- Duke is the #6 TB (slightly underrated).
- Perryman is the #9 OLB (about right).
- Linder gets snubbed for guard.
- Strange. UM gets the #6 backfield in the country and the offensive line doesn't get a mention.

Convo between Coley and WR CJ Worton (FSU Commit)..kinda scary..coaches need to be careful lol..

UMike

I think they are referring to Tyre Brady btw

UMike

RE: ^^^^ per CIS Blogger

Cj Worton - Soft FSU commit that Coley recruited. Hes boys with Lane and Tyree Brady. Worton is talking to Coach Coley & asked if Brady will get an offer. (Has FSU,Uf, UK, UCF and a couple other offers). Coley said yes he will get an offer. CJ has a Miami offer

Canesteeler

Weak dl

Canesfan_1

Where did you get that?

Also just because it says Coley on top doesn't mean it was him. I can change my phone right now to say UMike, doesn't mean it's you.

Anyway, that's a pretty chickenshit punk move, to make a private conversation public.

UMike

Canesfan...can you just shut up for once lol..You have to question or criticize everything..I didnt realize my wife was on the blog hahahaha

UMike

So now people are faking names and conversations to let people know a coach wants a kid and may offer another WR..WOW..thats certainly something worth going through all the trouble of faking lol

UMike

If you dont like the info I post or pass along..or if you think stuff isn't true or is made up..then dont read my post lol

UMike

Valentins is visiting again this weekend..but is suppose to compete this time around

There is absolutely nothing wrong with or illegal about this.

Coaches text, facebook, and twitter message recruits all the time.

UMike

Ohio..I agree...I mean it is scary that any kid can post his convo online for other coaches, recruits etc to see lol

UMike

Lt. Nolan just pointed out that S Michael Johnson is on the same team that Valentine just transferred to...doesnt hurt thats for sure

That's why they can't say anything sneaky, and they know that.

The Dude

Kehoe is the man. The OLine issues were always Coker related, same as RB, WR and QB. He coached players to be entitled and lazy. When his coaches tried to punish players Coker stepped in and coddled them. He fired a group of great assisstants to save his own @ss. I am so happy to have the great Kehoe back. Now about coach Soldinger. Imagine Duke under his coaching...

CaneRock

R.I.P to the original sack-master, the pride of Eatonville,Florida, one, David D. "Deacon" Jones.

UMike

Good stuff coming out about Knox and Gresham..Ohio if your on twitter can you share..I cant get on at the moment lol

LB

"According to @InsideTheU, our best young recruiter, Brad Kaaya, did good work yesterday."

So we've got a recruiter? Excellent!

Ohio_Cane

Canes lead by a good distance for Gresham. Fell in love with UM and business school.

Knox really liked visit, loved engineering dept. Kaaya on them both hard.

UMike

So summarize..Kaaya did a good job yesterday in recruiting for us..OL Demetrius Knox loved what he saw,,and RB Daniel Gresham says Miami is now his leader...says he "fell in love" with the school..both these guys are former Texas commits

UMike

TY Ohio lol

Ohio_Cane

So we've got a recruiter? Excellent!

Hoping U meant as a recruit recruiting?

Cuz if U think this staff doesn't have any, U aren't paying attention.

UMike

This is where Canesfan_1 comes in and criticizes he information and questions where we got it lol

Canesfan_1

You've got it ll wrong. I was calling out whoever made that public. The recruit I guess.

Also it's fair to ask you your source. It's pretty classless to make that conversation public

CaneRock

Now about coach Soldinger. Imagine Duke under his coaching...

Posted by: The Dude | June 04, 2013 at 12:36 PM

Don't know if He'll ever come back as a Coach, but I wish we could hire Him back in SOME! capacity.

LB

"Hoping U meant as a recruit recruiting?

Cuz if U think this staff doesn't have any, U aren't paying attention."

Correct. UM has a ton of excellent recruiters on staff, but it's the diehards who help recruit that push UM towards the top...

...good to have another one. And a QB, no less.

LB

Maybe Soldinger would help us out on the defensive line.

The Dude

I wish CR. I was really hoping The U would pick him up under the last vacancy. Oh well. I'll just keep plugging him like I'm his agent, lol.

CaneRock

And from talking to one of RLIII's coaches, He was actually INdirectly coached by Soldinger. Said He's applied a lot of Soldy's teachings to coaching RBs.

LB

Any word about Derrick Griffin?

If there's no news about defense, we might as well see if we can outscore the world.

The Dude

Isn't there another, younger Lewis playing football?

Soldinger influenced many players on the team even on defense.
