This summer more than 700 youth will be on the University of Miami campus for the 2013 Jim Larrañaga Basketball Camps, held at the Fieldhouse on the Coral Gables campus.
With two weeks of instruction nearly complete, UM coaches, players and staff will hold four more weeks of summer camps, all of which are sold out.
“Coach Larrañaga and his staff did such an amazing job of winning the ACC regular season and tournament championships that the camps sold out in less than 10 hours after we posted the dates,” said Adam Fisher , director of camps and recently hired director of basketball operations.
“The success he has had here at Miami both on and off the court can be seen in the community, and they come out and support the camps. That’s the reason it’s sold out.”
Campers receive daily individual instruction, game play, all-you-can-eat lunch, unlimited sports drinks, a camp t-shirt and a camp basketball. In addition, there are tremendous guest lecturers, many awards given with each age group and a championship series played on the final day.
“It’s great that our student-athletes come and coach these camps because the kids look up to them – they are their heroes,” added Fisher. “To be able to see Rion Brown or Angel Rodriguez at camp, and be coached by them and learn from them, means so much to the kids. The Miami student-athletes are teaching the young campers skills on the court, but also teaching them to have a great attitude, to come every day, work hard and want to get better.”
There were rumors Julio Derosier committed today..but that doesn't appear to be true..at least not publicly.

One of the best series I have ever seen. There were perhaps 7 future hall of famers playing, 1 hall of famer coaching and the passing of one dynasty to another. Lebron will go down as one of the best ever and Duncan might be the best power forward to ever play and is easily the most underrated player I can remember. The series was clean as both teams genuinely respected each other and everyone played at a high level. Just a great series.

So let me get this right...Hernandez security videos were magically destroyed, his cell phone was magically destroyed and now there is video of him with the victim just hours before he died? Oh and he hired a cleaning crew to scrub the mansion? That boy is going to prison lol...
From ESPN..
Sources told ABC News the security system at Hernandez's home, along with his cellphone, were destroyed. Police were at Hernandez's home again Thursday with another search warrant based on evidence that Hernandez "destroyed his home security system," an investigator close to the case told ABC News.
The investigator and other law enforcement sources confirmed the security system was smashed intentionally. Hernandez's cellphone was handed over to investigators "in pieces" by his attorneys, sources added.
Police also want to know why a team of house cleaners was hired on Monday to scrub Hernandez's mansion, sources told ABC News.
Police say Lloyd was dating the sister of the mother of Hernandez's daughter.
Meanwhile, a lawsuit has been refiled in Florida against Hernandez by a man the tight end allegedly shot in South Florida in February. The lawsuit contends Alexander S. Bradley was shot in the arm but the bullet traveled to his head, causing him to lose his right eye.
ALSO...Hernandez was questioned by police regarding a shooting when he was at Florida..

Per Thread Killa @ 247..
Mike Smith update
-Recently camped at Florida St. with most of his MNW teammates
-Loved the atmosphere
-Loved the championship environment
-Sunseri told him he has great speed and quickness
-Sunseri also told him he's like a 3-4 LB hybrid type
-Says that is what he prefers (being a 3-4 LB)
-Claims offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Clemson, Louisville, Marshall, Miami, Miss St., Texas, UCLA, USF, Utah, Wisconsin, and WVU
-Says he does not have a leader at this point
-Says he is looking at a lot of schools
-Wants to see Clemson
-Will be camping at Alabama next
The more this kid waits to commit the more I think he will not be in this class. Hope im wrong though.

Thomas Holley's mother wasn't willing to let him play football -- until he came home with a concussion.
The 6-foot-4, 299-pound Queens native -- a four-star DT -- was not allowed to play until his junior year because his mother, Candace Benjamin Holley, was worried her son would get hurt. He was a standout basketball player at Middle Village (N.Y.) Christ the King until he came home with the head injury she feared.
"That is true," she said. "I was reluctant to have him play football. I didn't want to have him exposed to those types of head injuries.
"He played baseball and basketball since third grade and he really didn't show much interest in football until other people really started pushing him to play in the ninth grade. I had reservations because it was such a physical sport, but when he kept pushing -- and kept coming home with injuries from basketball -- I knew it was time for me to make a change and support him."
Thomas Holley has gone from obscure to in demand in a short amount of time.
"He has big dreams and football has really expanded his opportunities," Candace Benjamin Holley said. "It is my responsibility to put my feelings aside; support him, and let him give it his best shot."
Now Holley, the No. 84 player in the Rivals100, has become one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country with more than 30 offers.
His Rivals.com profile didn't have a single story linked until the middle of February this year. It now has 47 in four months.
Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell said that once Holley was actually on the radar, it was obvious he would be a target of every major program.
"His film got out so late that it delayed everything for him," Farrell said. "Really though, once it was released he was getting three offers a day for the first week. It just happened to be that it didn't get out until after the season was over, but had anyone had his film in December or November, it would have all happened then. With him, it was just a matter of time."
Holley has been making the most of his opportunity. He has taken unofficial trips to Rutgers, Penn State and Syracuse. He also visited Miami and Florida and has trips to Ohio State and Florida State on the docket.

Seems like it is confirmed now...Former Homestead DE Julio Derosier will be part of Miami's 2013 class. More depth on the DL. By my count that is at least 5 players added after NSD with Griffin, Corn, Tucker, O'Donnel and now Derosier.
Posted by: UMike | June 21, 2013 at 06:50 AM
Also..as reported yesterday..Miami us in good shape to land another DT..Fadol Brown got his blocked from FIU lifted and visited Miami

Good morning.
Miami, can you feel the hate?
You Heat haters good this morning?
Good. Get used to it. You'll have practice for when our beloved []_[] starts being a power again. As much as the Heat is hated, and they're hated a lot, canes hate was just as bad, or worse, back in the day. Lets hope we feel that hate soon.
Winter is coming.

Derosier told Hassan weeks ago he was a silent commit to UM, just didn't want to deal with the media

A talk show host in Miami just said an arrest warrant was issued for Hernandez...but I cant find it anywhere
Posted by: UMike | June 21, 2013 at 07:39 AM
Maybe he meant "going to be" or "might be" lol
Posted by: UMike | June 21, 2013 at 07:40 AM
Ohio..good stuff. Although I don't think there would be much "media" coverage of a FIU transfer who would be part of the 2013 class lol
Posted by: UMike | June 21, 2013 at 07:41 AM
Their saying a warrant is issued for obstruction of justice..not murder....yet lol
Posted by: UMike | June 21, 2013 at 07:46 AM
Massachusetts State Police issued an arrest warrant Friday for New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez for obstruction of justice in connection with a homicide investigation, according to an ABC Good Morning America report.
