“We are excited to welcome Donnavan back to the University of Miami," said Coach Jim Larrañaga. "He is an experienced front court player who excels at running the floor, blocking shots, and scoring in a variety of ways. Donnavan is passionate about the University of Miami and we look forward to working with him as he pursues his master's degree.”

Kirk played in 23 games in 2011-12, averaging 5.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. The 6-foot-9 forward enjoyed a breakout season in his final year with the Blue Demons in 2012-13, starting 30 of 31 games and leading the team with 50 blocks. He finished the year averaging 6.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.

Good news and good work from Ariz...
Booker T. Washington QB Treon Harris will be entering his senior season looking to cap off one of the most prolific careers in South Florida history. The F-5 signal-caller has big goals ahead.
“It feels like it went by fast, but I’m excited and looking forward to it. We want a national championship this year,” said Harris.
Harris is planning a tour of multiple in-state schools.
“I’m going to just be in Florida for Florida State, South Florida, and Miami.”
Ole Miss, Boston College, Arizona, Tennessee, Florida State, Central Florida, and South Florida are recruiting Harris as a quarterback, but Miami is looking at him elsewhere and he has decided he will still consider the ‘Canes.
“They’re recruiting me as a slot and they want me on their team as an athlete out there. I’m open to it.”
Treon is the brother of former Miami CB and current Houston Texans defensive back, Brandon Harris.
“He gives me great advice and it makes me want to get where he’s at too.”
**Harris is not planning on camping at Miami and said, “I’ll just go there one day.”

More Ariz...
2014 South Cobb (Ga.) DE Justin Jones was in Coral Gables last weekend for an unofficial visit, as he watched the Al Golden Football Camp as well as tour the campus.
“It was great. Going around the campus, thinking about the Miami life, looking at palm trees, everything. Coach Barrow took me and Juwon Young around on a tour in the rain, which showed he really cared about us. Not many coaches would actually take recruits around campus in the rain, you know what I’m saying? So that was big. They were telling me some good and bad things to look out for,” said Jones.
Although Jones did not participate in the camp, he was able to get a good feel for the coaching style.
“I saw the coaches at the camp. A lot of coaches can say what they’re about, but you don’t really get the full picture until you see it in person.”
One of the highlights of the trip for Jones was his meeting with Coach Golden.
“My mom and I spoke to Al Golden one-on-one. He said all the schools I was looking at were good and to make the decision with my heart. That was big for my mom because he wasn’t in a rush to get me to commit.”
Jones’ mother was also impressed on the trip.
“She loved it. She thought it would be different, but we found out it’s like a small school with a big name. The class size is 11 to 1 so the teachers can know my name and I wouldn’t just be a number.”
So where do the ‘Canes stand after this visit?
“This pushed them up definitely. I don’t have a leader, but they’re up there.”
An interesting twist developed for Miami’s chances with Jones when his friend, Juwon Young, committed to the ‘Canes.
“We played at the Junior Bowl together. We were on the same team and the same side of the hotel so we spent a lot of time together. We knew the type of people each of us were so when he committed to Miami it was even better because it is somebody you know.”
**Jones spent a lot of time with fellow Georgia native Tyrone Cornileus.
**He will be visiting Wake Forest and NC State this weekend and hopes to make a final decision before his senior season begins.

Tito Doin Work...
2015 Monarch (Fla.) athlete Shawn Burgess Becker was one of the many participants at the Rivals Five Star Challenge in Chicago and was looking to prove himself to big time scouts.
“It’s a lot of competition, so you gotta bring your A game. It’s like there is no time to waste up there, you have to stay on point because some plays you give up can cost you in your ranking.”
Burgess-Becker went to Chicago and competed not only as a receiver, but also as a defensive back. Despite his love for scoring touchdowns, he has no preference for position.
“I was swapping up there at both so I was all over the field. I like to get in the end zone, but you can do that on the defensive side of the ball as well, so where ever the team needs me I’ll play.”
The 2015 star player is recovering from a shoulder injury, but is still helping his team with their workouts.
“Everybody is working out right now, so I’m motivating them to be better players on the team because big players make big plays.”
The Monarch product’s recruitment has absolutely exploded, dating back to his first offer from Alabama and then receiving offers from Miami, Florida, LSU and others.
“It’s a great feeling to be in the position I am in. It’s just motivating me more to be a better player and to get prepared for the next level. It reminds me to get better each and every day.”
Despite the large number of schools he has attracted there are a few more he is looking to hear from.
“I would like to hear from FSU, Oregon, Clemson, Ohio State and all those other big schools.”
While Burgess-Becker has a tremendous list of schools, he is still keeping everything even with no leaders.
“Honestly, to tell you the truth I don’t really know right now. I want to take more visits and see more places.”
The stud prospect talked a little about the hometown team and how he plans to visit soon.
“I haven’t been speaking with the coaches yet too often but I’ll go check it out sometime this week or next week and keep in contact with them.”
When asked what attracts him to the hurricanes, location was a main factor.
“Just because it’s the home school, it’s great because I can stay around my family and they can watch me play so that would be great.”
As far as goals for next season, Burgess-Becker has a simple goal.
“I’m not really worried about stats wise, I’m just really worried about our team and getting them to the playoffs.”
*Burgess-Becker will also be competing with the Florida Fire in the I-M-G National Tournament

Posted by: UMike | June 13, 2013 at 09:49 AM
--------------------------------------
They won't dismiss it, IMO. Have to save face somehow. Dismissing it admits failure, and they're not capable of that.
I think we see some ship losses and that's it. Which I'm fine with. Just end it.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | June 13, 2013 at 09:52 AM
I can't wait until its over.
I disagree about the dismissal. UM has a strong case that they are making to a committee that is not made up of enforcement. I don't think it's likely, but I put the odds at about 30%. Zero is too pessimistic for me.
Posted by: Canesfan_1 | June 13, 2013 at 09:54 AM
Canesfan...you know me and my negative agenda lol...I think there is ZERO chance, solely because the NCAA wants to "save face"..my belief has nothing to do with the case Miami has. When no one but the liar who is making these claims can corroborate them, and the illegal staff the NCAA did and the fact we have hurt ourselves plenty make a dam good case...BUT..the NCAA dont care about that lol
Posted by: UMike | June 13, 2013 at 10:04 AM
When the settlement talks were stopped by the NCAA, that told me this would not be dismissed.
Posted by: UMike | June 13, 2013 at 10:06 AM
Mike, ponder this.
Fact: the settlement talks were stopped because Enforcement wouldn't sign off. Emmert wanted to settle.
Fact: Enforcement is out of the decision making loop in this stage of the process. All they can do is present their case, and decisions don't have to go through them.
So I logically conclude that it is unreasonably pessimistic to say there is ZERO chance, since there was some impetus within the NCAA (minus enforcement) to settle.
At this point I say they go through their process, but I wouldn't be shocked that if at the end of the process, or in a few days, they settle/dismiss.
The odds are not great, but they ARE there, and not ZERO. So while I'm not deluding myself, I still allow for an outside chance.
Posted by: Canesfan_1 | June 13, 2013 at 10:18 AM
Canesfan..all good points..but im sticking with ZERO chance lol..no way the NCAA lets us off the hook (in their eyes any way)..I HOPE it would be dismissed, but just think it will happen. I do not think we will get any more bowl bans since The Don made it clear 2 was enough, but there will be something, a few ships for a couple years etc
Posted by: UMike | June 13, 2013 at 10:24 AM
I think the NCAA isn't interested in fair..their interested in power and control. So no matter what committee, or what division etc of the NCAA it is, their will not be justice. Just the fact that there is a case at all shows the NCAA isn't interested in fair. Any booster in America can bring down a program if it wishes..all they need is some photos and someone that will listen to them..not REAL evidence lol

So much for proof-reading? LOL, who's Neal Shapiro? His brother?

Here is what I envision……remember the scene from the Godfather where Michael Corleone is at the church for the baptismal……and it keeps switching to different scenes where his boys are taking out member of the 5 families? That is what I picture happening to Shapiro, Emmert, Maria Elena Perez, and Charles Robinson as they hand down the final outcome as it’s being read to DS herself.
