Thats nice Ohio..this weekend I hope to been on a few cliffs as we hike in the TN mountains

LB

"### UM’s Al Golden indicated he and new coordinator James Coley plan to stick with large doses of the no-huddle offense that was used last season under Jedd Fisch’s direction… "

I have a thought as it pertains to the issues with A. Edouard, the offense, and watching the spring game.

Initially I had some very strong misgivings about the words "pro-spread," implying that UM was moving from a highly successful pro-offense system to something like a pro-spread as was employed at FSU.

It was so successful that it made Jacory Harris the comeback player of the NCAA and turned around Stephen Morris's career. Losing Fisch was inevitable because of such success with historically inaccurate and interception-prone QB's, but it still stung like hell.

I think the thought process, however, has changed.

I watched the spring game online and didn't see much of the "pro-spread," but the traditional pro-style which UM historically deploys and sends high-powered QB's to the NFL. A good sign. We nabbed back-to-back-to-back Elite 11 pro-style QB's, which is also indicative that NFL bound players like what's going on.

Edouard is a dual-threat QB, and I've heard more than twice from different sources that UM coaches may want to use him at a different position due to his skill set. That may irritate somebody who's better suited at say, Georgia Tech, than UM. That's not to say that UM doesn't want athletic QB's, as Morris is extremely quick on his feet.

I don't pay much attention to recruits save defensive tackles (yay!), linebackers, diehards, and truly transcedent players (#TownCane). It's quite a silly process until NSD and is continually a fluid picture.

See Rule #6: No Keefin'.

Other thoughts:
- As much as I love Ryan Williams's accuracy, he did not impress me in the spring game at all. He's the best option we have as a backup. But when Morris graduates, I hope that Olsen progresses enough to challenge him for a starter.

SOUP

Well this will help me sleep better at night:

Miami Hurricanes punter Pat O’Donnell is one of 25 players on the 2013 Ray Guy Award Watch List, the Augusta Sports Council announced Wednesday. The Ray Guy Award honors the nation’s top collegiate punter.

O’Donnell is one of only three ACC punters on the preseason list, joining Duke’s Will Monday and North Carolina’s Thomas Hibbard.

One of Miami’s newest additions, O’Donnell, a native of Lake Worth, Fla., spent the previous three seasons as the starting punter for the Cincinnati Bearcats. In 2012, he was a second-team All-BIG EAST selection, averaging 41.8 yards per punt. In 2011, he was a first-team All-BIG EAST performer, posting 43.8 yards per punt. As a graduate student, he will be immediately eligible for the 2013 season.

LB..if Olsen isn't as good as we hope..things might get bad quick lol

I get what you're saying, Soup and I understand.

I'm good friends with a Federal prosecutor, a county prosecutor, have two close relative that were prosecutors, and a cousin that is a trial lawyer in NY. One of my best friends is also with the FBI in an leadership capacity. You literally would have nothing to worry about. Even in the cosa nostra heydays, they didn't operate that way, it's not worth their time or the potential risk.

Organized crime is certainly a problem in society, and there are several crime organizations in operation. The people that have the most to fear from them are he ones that do business with them. Writing a satire piece about this particular family is no cause for concern. Far worse is written about them. No one, at least in the modern era as far back as I know, has been bothered for writing anything, and they are written about.

But I understand your reluctance.

UMike

I remember when i was 17, dumb and naive...my "baby momma's" grandfather was supposedly an associate of the Bonanno family, which at the time meant nothing to me lol...One day her uncle came to visit and he kinda pulls me aside and says something to the effect of "you better treat her nice, i got friends in the garbage business"...at this time I was involved in my own gang activity in Miami and shot back with "i aint worrried, my homies run chop shops in opa-locka" hahaha

UMike

I should say HAD BEEN an associate at one time back in the day

I think it's more important how good a QB coach Coley is. I think that all our QB picks are good enough. It's how well they are coached up.

Fisch certainly was an excellent QB coach and the improvement that we saw from Jaocry certainly proved it.

ColaCane

Hey Caners, anybody know where to get one of those very cool looking Hurricane Club license plates they're holding in the pic on the opening page?

CaneRock

Speaking of the Feds, for the Florida game, we should come out in all white, with 2 Chainz "I'ma be fresh as PHUCK! with the Feds watchin'!" bumpin' on the stadium speakers.

SOUP

Talk to Jesse Marks from the Hurricane Club.

If U join U get one for FREE along with other cool gear (car decals, etc.).

MAKE SURE to tell him Canespace sent you!

Just for the record, I'm not a lawyer. Even I have standards. j/k

Canesfan_1

Mike - there are a lot of hangers on that talk a big game but can't back it up. Generally, the big talkers are good at talking and that's it. It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for.

My philosophy has always been that mostly if you keep your nose clean and take care of your business you have nothing to fear from any man.

UpNorthCane27

Thanx Canesfan, i dnt need any legal help though lol...

UMike

I guess I waited to long to get my cheapo season tickets lol..all the $98 season tickets are gone, unless you want to sit alone lol

SOUP

UMike...they have a three game Mini-plan also.

Houston

Treon Harris "“If they say I can do it at quarterback, I’m going to wait my turn,” Treon said. “If they say I can’t do it, I’m open to playing any position because I know I can do that too.”

Help me understand, so since Miami didn't "recruit" you to play QB (and change you once you get on campus) they are out of it. But since F$U "recruited" you as a QB (and change you once you get on campus) you chose F$U? LMAO....

Lesson Learned: Parents teach your kids to stand for what they want and not make excuses! There is nothing wrong and no excuse needed for amking a decision!

SOUP

Go here and look at Mini-plans:

4-Real

Dt Michael Sawyers to Vandy.

SOUP

4-Real...I think the SEC better watch out for Vandy and Kentucky. They are building something at both schools.

4-Real

Man....Imagine how good we would be if we were allowed to DRAFT players....

UMike

SOUP..not only them two..but TN..I have noticed a lot of kids have TN in the top however many, and a lot of South Florida kids also. Do not be surprised it that is where Bethel ends up.

Canesfan_1

UpNorth - responded. Good luck.

Somebody posted about license plates - I don't think the new ones are out yet. They're switching from the Ibis to the branded 'U". I wish they could get both on there but obviously the space is limited.

Mike - glad to hear you turned things around. I'm sure you know all too well where the "life" leads to.

As you know, you can have the swag and keep it real without being a knucklehead.

CaneRock

I'll tell ya'll what, good thing Zimmerman MIGHT walk in Sanford. Because if this case happened in Dade,County, and He walked, it would've been McDuffie all over again.

LB

Since the news is pretty much dead, here's some recruitnik chatter (even though it's madness):

- Berrios is a head-on-shoulders guy. Lightning. Will probably sign onto UM.
- Edouard (a.k.a. "Keef 2014") is gone.
- There's a higher percentage of recruiters in the 2014 class than before. It's evidenced by the fact that Yearby's teammate (Cook) is warming to coming to UM despite being a Gator commit. Kaaya & the Northwestern fellows are really putting in work here.
- Gator commit Moten isn't as solid as he used to be.
- FSU still sucks.
- Good news for defensive worriers like me: the committed linebacker from GA (Young) is college ready on the same level Perryman was.
- In case you missed it, our boy Griffin is going to prep. But it's not a big deal as he goes to only for three months and will be around to help "Jimmy from the Bronx" try to replace Larkin & crew. He'll also be a freshman on the 2014 football squad. Maybe a touchdown-catching replacement for Hurns?
-------
"I think it's more important how good a QB coach Coley is. I think that all our QB picks are good enough. It's how well they are coached up.

Fisch certainly was an excellent QB coach and the improvement that we saw from Jaocry certainly proved it."

Finally! Someone speaks my language!

There's not much of Coley to judge on film, as Dumbo called the plays at FSuckU. As long as he doesn't pull a Patrick Nix... I think we'll be okay.

Question for folks in the know:

Who on the defensive side is serious about the pass rush besides McCord (who I still contend is a rush linebacker)? The spring game didn't tell me much.

hassan

If some of you was ever involved with a real family you would be Murked quick. Snitchin on the net......you will be amazed how investigators add up.tidbits of info to build a case.

Anyways I am hearing out team looks like the Avengers with Camp Swasey in full effect. In 12 months we will be full Butch Davis status with talented athletes at the U.

Old Skool

A WR that seemed to be cropping up a few months ago has disappeared. Any news on Alfredo Roberts' son Austin?

Yeah but Tenn has MUCH longer history of doing well in recruiting and in the SEC than either KY or Vandy BY FAR.

SOUP

Posted by: CaneRock | July 10, 2013 at 03:40 PM

I doubt Zimmerman walks just given the nature of the case but IF he does don't be surprised by what MAY happen in Sanford and/or Orlando. Let's hope calmer heads prevail whichever way the case is decided by the jury. The judge refused to grant an acquittal after the defense rested this afternoon. It is on TV all day every day here in Central FL.

Check out these roster numbers. Several players now have the same number on offense and defense (1, 3, 5, 6, 11, 16, 17, etc.):

Yeah, Mickey wearing gauze, on crutches and with his arm in a sling is NOT good for his image.

hassan

CHICK led the team in sacks.... is out best overall DE. AQM and Bond can get after it but no Camp Swasey for them will set them back.

Phil Steele has LOST his mind!

He has FSU, OK ST, Texas, USC and ASU as his Top 5 "surprise picks" to win the BCS title:
