“There is no doubt in my mind that the ACC will be the strongest league in the nation this season and our conference schedule will be the most challenging in our program’s history,” said Coach Jim Larrañaga. “With Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame joining the ACC, we have added quality and depth to an already great basketball conference.”
Miami will also face North Carolina on ESPN2, and both Virginia Tech and Florida State on ESPNU, along with seven Regional Sports Network (RSN) and six ACC Network broadcasts.
“We will be playing seven of our 18 conference games against six previous national champions,” added Larrañaga. “Winning the ACC regular season and tournament championship will be far tougher than ever before for all 15 teams. We are excited to get the season started.”
The Canes, who played in the 2013 NCAA Sweet 16, will face six teams (eight games) that played in the NCAA Championship a year ago, and three teams (four games) that made an NIT appearance.
After opening the ACC portion of the schedule Dec. 8 against Virginia Tech, Miami hits the road for matchups against ACC newcomer Syracuse (Jan. 4) and North Carolina (Jan. 8). Syracuse, who played in the 2013 Final Four, ended the 2012-13 campaign No. 3 in the country and North Carolina made an appearance in the NCAA’s Third Round after finishing third in the ACC a season ago.
Over a 10-day stretch, Miami will have home battles with Florida State (Jan. 15), Duke (Jan. 22) and Syracuse (Jan. 25), along with a Jan. 18 matchup at Georgia Tech. Duke made an Elite Eight appearance in 2013 before finishing No. 5 nationally while Florida State ended sixth in the league.

First three paragraphs from an article on Bleacher REport
To some who are watching Tim Tebow struggle to play quarterback for the New England Patriots—and struggle is a mighty generous way to describe what he's doing—there is but one conclusion.
It's not just that Tebow can no longer play quarterback, or any other skill position, in the NFL—it's that unless Tebow switches to a strictly blocking position, he is not talented enough to play in leagues like the Canadian Football League and Arena Football League.
Tebow's skills have eroded so quickly, so shockingly fast—think heavy boulder dropped from low orbit—that it has actually stunned several scouts who have watched him closely for years.

Jerome Brown (1965–1992) - American football defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). Died in a car accident in Brooksville.[11] In May 2000, the Jerome Brown Community Center was opened in his honor.[12]

I just want to say, James Kelley reminds me a lot of a guy The Pimp had a G. Mason by the name of George Evans.
I can hear it already, "OGV, who in the blue hell is George freaking Evans?" Well unnamed college football obsessed Canespacer, he shares a record with The Admiral (of overrated-ness) David Robinson as the only three time, three time, three time, THREE TIME CAA player of the year awards in mens' basketball.
He was the CAA version of Chris Weinke in a lot of ways, except Weinke never served his country as a reservist in the Gulf War, he just washed out of baseball before he lost all his hair suspiciously before he turned 30 while getting handed a joke Heisman. Now that I reread that, Weinke still sounds COMPLETELY PED CLEAN doesn't he?
George Evans was a beast when I was at UM and I've got a good feeling about Kelly this year in a similar vein.
The Pimp finally made me not miss Len Hamilton on the sidelines and in two years probably is already the best coach ever to have the job at Miami, which is refreshing for me after having to watch Special K's signature move flounder over the same time frame in a pretty easy laugh of a football conference. However, if The Pimp makes some noise this year in the toughest conference in the game, it will be a MIRACLE in my opinion because man, this reconfigured league never gives you a night off.
SOUP, I've got to take my car to Brooksville for some auto work next week, only reputable shop that works on transmissions is out there in this area apparently!

I wonder if Will Muschamp is having cold sweats yet, thinking about how his defense can possibly contain Duke Johnson? He probably has his Gators snuggie tucked close to his body.
Posted by: TonyCane | August 22, 2013 at 08:39 PM
Golden should be fired up. The Canes will be a force. They have the offense to score 40 pts a game against their opponents and they have a defense that can surprise some people with more takeawas and sacks than expected. They will get stops when needed and Gilbert and the new transfers will add depth and valuable contributions. This defense should be better than the 2011 defense in Golden's first year and that is good enough to ein the ACC. I cannot wait to see our canes in action.

The National Football League’s new bag policy will be in effect for all seven 2013 Miami Hurricanes home games at Sun Life Stadium.
The new bag policy, which was established with fan safety and expedited entry in mind, places limits on the size and type of bags which may be brought into Sun Life Stadium. Fans may continue to carry pockets items such as keys, makeup, combs, phones, wallets and credit cards. As part of this initiative, each season-ticket account will receive one (1) approved bag which they may use at their convenience. Additional information will be forthcoming for pick-up of the bag for season-ticket holder accounts.
Additionally, fans wishing to purchase approved bags can visit the team store at Sun Life Stadium.
The bag policy was unanimously recommended in May by the NFL Committee on Stadium Security and will be put into place at all NFL stadiums this season beginning with preseason games.
Below are the NFL approved bags fans may carry into the stadium:
One bag that is clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and does not exceed 12” by 6” and 12” or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
In addition to one of the clear bags noted above, fans may also carry in a small clutch bag or purse approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap.
An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at Gate E designated for this purpose.
Diapers and wipes can be carried in a clear bag. Each member of a family, including children, will be able to carry an approved clear bag and a clutch purse, providing ample storage capacity.
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.
Fans will continue to be able to enjoy their tailgate activities in the parking lots and to do so with greater safety and the knowledge that their entry into the stadium will be smoother and faster. They also will continue to be able to carry items allowed into the stadium, such as binoculars, cameras, and smart phones.

Blog roids test came up clean, apparently there was an overactive filter condition that lead to some confusion before the official posting times were reviewed?
Look, Sinister, it's a week out from the opener, you only have between 180 and 240 seconds from the time the new blog is posted to get that Roscoe in.
Also you'll notice Facebook/Typepad/Twitter sign in issues don't keep big time Canespacers from posting big on bigtime blogs, so there are no excuses here anymore, for ANYBODY. STRAP U . . ., wait, that dude's ghost mode these days so forget that catchphrase, so uh, let's see, that's what she said?

YUP! My only concern though, is the revelation that Dillard didn't want to run like a big back, and His subsequent departure. Now don't get me wrong, Duke's gonna get His, and Clements is a tough runner, but BOY! could we use somebody to RIP! through their defense...ala McGahee in 2002.

NO DOUBT!
But then again, we beat them in 03' with basically just Frank Gore, so hopefully it wont matter. We'll see.

Walter Tucker is an outstanding athlete with great speed. I don't know how he was at camp as a LB but with his speed and strenght we might see him at more than 2 positions before he is a senior...Our safety position is my main concern with the 2013 Canes and i was wondering if Tucker could play this posistion as well as the LB and FB Positions.
Well the depth at RB-FB is better now than at the safety position even with Dillard gone...
Anyone else worried about our safeties?

ACC Basketball is going to be murderers row. Wow.
Coach L has to be eating this opportunity up....to face off with the best of the best every year.
If we cant fill the BUC with Coach L at the hlem and this schedule, might as well shut down the program.
