After an impressive 4,400 fans showed up for CanesFest on Saturday at the BankUnited Center on campus in Coral Gables, the University of Miami football team went back to work on Sunday.

QUOTABLES
Senior DE David Gilbert on coming home to South Florida…
“Coming back home, being around my family and having a support system, is priceless. It’s something I didn’t really get at Wisconsin and I wasn’t able to appreciate having my parents right there.”
Senior DT Justin Renfrow on how he ended up at UM…
“I graduated from UVA and needed a new situation and a new change. Coach Golden had recruited me along with Coach (D’Onofrio) out of high school because I’m originally from Philly. They recruited me to Temple and it just so happened they still needed D-Linemen here and I ended up coming here.
It’s been a great situation and a great opportunity.”
Mark D’Onofrio on offseason recruiting…
"We didn't stop from signing day until a week ago. We didn't stop continuing to try to upgrade our team if we could. And that's our job and (the players) understand that."
D’Onofrio on defensive competition…
"There are a ton of battles. There aren't many positions that are locked up. There are always going to battles. When you get in the position where guys think they have a spot, that's when you're not a very good team. When they get comfortable and say, 'OK, this is my spot,' then we've got problems. When you have competition every day and they have to fight for their position, you've got a chance to improve."
Texans CB Brandon Harris fined $21 grand for hit on defenseless receiver against Miami.

Too many things making it seem that way with Dye gone, Canes closing camp early, etc.

I would like to know the real reason why UM's Camp ended suddenly the same day Al Golden said in the following interview..."We still have two more days of training camp"
Most coaches take the maximum number of practices allowed per NCAA rules...Al always said because of the 2 bowls ban it's a lot of practice time they lost...almost 2 months total over the last 2 years.
So Manny, Susan, Barry, Matt, Michael...What's the sory here?
Also the fact that many players started camp very late...Practice time is crucial. But i trust the coaches... they know something we don't.

Funny if they announce sanctions 8 days from now, because that would be the same day that Barry Jackson broke the story.

Says the security guard's name was Carlos Joseph, I wonder if it's the same Carlos Joseph that played for us:
News of the fight first broke on ESPN when the network, citing unnamed sources, reported Wednesday that Incognito punched and knocked out a security guard at the Fontainebleau late one night before training camp. At least one source in the story said Incognito did not throw the first punch, but Incognito said he did not throw a punch at all.

I bet Incognito threw the last punch.

Good point Montreal, has this question been asked yet? Are the coaches hiding from the media? What's the story here? I wouldn't be surprised if the media would give Golden space if he asked for it. They seem to get a long with them. Golden is a good sound bite. Holy sh*t was an all time classic. I'm wondering why its so quiet?

Another example of the ESPN/Media hype/bias..
on ESPN's front page, they made sure to post the SEC's schedule lol

Best case scenario: 3 scholarships per year, no bowl bans
Likely scenario: 1 year bowl ban, 5 scholarships a year for 3 years
Worst case scenario: 2 year bowl ban, 10 scholarships a year for 4 years
I'd say the worst case scenario had less than 5 percent likelihood. I'm split on the other two scenarios.
