With only five days left until the start of the season, Miami Hurricanes head coach Al Golden unveiled the FAU game week depth chart Sunday night.
Since Miami's final #CanesCamp depth chart was released last week, a few new names have surfaced as the starters heading into game week. One of the biggest switches is along the offensive line as junior Jon Feliciano has emerged as the starting right tackle, ahead of senior Seantrel Henderson. Sophomore Ereck Flowers is listed as the No. 1 at left tackle, while the left guard spot is still between redshirt junior Malcolm Bunche and Feliciano.
Miami's starting receivers are senior Allen Hurns, sophomore Herb Waters and junior Phillip Dorsett. Freshman Walter Tucker, who started as a linebacker and is now a fullback, is listed as the backup to senior Maurice Hagens.
On defense, Miami's starting front four looks like this: junior Anthony Chickillo, senior Curtis Porter, junior Olsen Pierre and senior Shayon Green. Junior Ufomba Kamalu, senior Justin Renfrow and senior David Gilbert are listed at the No. 2 position along the defensive line.
Thurston Armbrister and Alex Figueroa are co-starters at one outside linebacker spot; junior Denzel Perryman is No. 1 at the other OLB position. Senior Jimmy Gaines is the starting middle linebacker.
Tracy Howard (CB), Kacy Rodgers II (S), Rayshawn Jenkins (S) and Ladarius Gunter (CB) currently hold the No. 1 positions in the Canes secondary.
The Hurricanes open the 2013 season Aug. 30 at home against FAU (8 p.m., ESPNU). Single-game and season tickets for the 2013 season are on sale now at www.CanesTix.com.
"Tyriq McCord and Quan Muhammed playing each end on 3rd downs? Oh, goodness. Watch out, QBs!"
That's pretty sweet. I hope that's true.

McCord said it, and I don't know that he meant to say it. I'm sure it's not every 3rd down, but 3rd and 5 or more I bet we see it.

Go after Jones and Driskell....they both are banged up. Nothing personal, but if a guy is 75% and playing, he does not have a dress on!!!!!! You keep that head up tail down and bury the guy with that shoulder play after play until he crawls off unable to continue. Its football!!!!!!!1

Don't need any more ME guys.....that's what gets you beat. Need TEAM guys which is what we have.
Just an update on my charges 7th and 8th graders.....we beat the JV team that tied for district title last year; they had a decent amount of rising sophs....not so big a deal right? 42-0 is kinda big. My line really whipped them on both fronts....my guys execute well in all phases I was shocked we crushed them...know some of them...they have gotten away from my kind of ball.....the coaches were a riot....I just told them hey we just had some breaks....no we just whipped AZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WESTON, Fla. -
Cypress Bay head football coach Mark Guandolo has been suspended for two weeks following an incident which saw him hitting one of his players on national television. In a time out during Cypress Bay's game vs. American Heritage on Sunday, ESPN cameras caught Guandolo punching the head of quarterback Lucas Tellefsen with the heel of the palm of his hand.
Guandolo has been suspended from his position as a physical education teacher for three days and two weeks from all school athletic activities.
"I expect every staff member to adhere to the highest professional standards in every aspect of their interactions with our students,” wrote Broward Schools Superintendent Robert W. Runcie in a statement on Monday.
Most spectators at the game were oblivious to what happened, but were stunned when Local 10 showed them the video that had gone viral.
One student said, “That was just wrong in my opinion.”
When asked if it bothered her, student Alice Shatt said “Yeah. I mean, they treat animals like that. They don’t treat football players like that. I mean, that’s their coach. You don’t want to get hit by your coach.”
This video raises the question: Is this fair discipline for a bad play, or did the coach go too far?
“That’s a football play, you know. He could've slapped him across the helmet for a good play. We would have never known," said football fan Tavares McBurrows.
“Unnecessary. Really unnecessary," said one parent, Marie Nirenburg.

I hear ya' VA Cane, BUT!, just because they did it in your time, doesn't make it right. Judging by the way the kid reacted, and looked at Him, even He was a lil' shocked that His coach did that...which leads me to the conclusion that Guandolo never did that before. I used to coach young people, and one thing I always told myself..."If I don't do it in practice, I won't do it in a game!"..."If I don't say it in practice, I won't say it in a game!" IOWs, be YOURSELF!...these kids know when you're actin' PHONY!

Reminds me of an e-mail I got awhile back:
"A lot of the guys complaining about not having Joe Montana don't exactly see Bill Walsh when they look in the mirror."
Sports for a lot of them are all about building the other guy's character. As soon as it's time to build their own character, then it's not nearly as much fun."

No reason to hit a kid if he ain't yours. Correct the issue in other ways. I'm not saying its the worst thing in the world, but that kind of teaching is unacceptable now. They don't even do that in bootcamp any more.
