Lmfaoo shit sounds like my type of party ..... Soup that scenario sounds crazyyyy

Terrance Sullivan

UpNorthCane we get down 86 peeping U on the game trust me its gonna be on like neck bones for the UF tailgate and game and Party on the Patio.

SOUP

Tuesday was Miami’s second two-a-days practice of #CanesCamp.

Sophomore RB Brandon Yosha remained in a red (non-contact) jersey, while sophomore DB Deon Bush and junior DL David Perry were upgraded to yellow (limited contact) jerseys.

Miami’s latest newcomers – freshman DE Naim Mustafaa, senior DL David Gilbert, senior DT Justin Renfrow and junior DE Ufomba Kamalu – were in full pads for the first time Tuesday.

Two offensive linemen from Miami’s 2001 National Championship team were spotted a practice Tuesday – Joaquin Gonzalez and Sherko Haji-Rasouli.

Miami opted to hold its second practice of the day in the evening, taking the field in full pads at 7 p.m.

QUOTABLES

Al Golden on who stood out during Sunday’s scrimmage…

"Number one, (Matt) Goudis. Goudis was 3/3 and all were over 45 yards. I think he really struck the ball well. Jermaine Grace did some really good things in the scrimmage...Artie Burns, the moment wasn't too big for him and he stepped up for us which was nice. There's just so many, we're talking about 100 guys who played. It was nice to see Eduardo (Clements) out there... I think (Anthony) Chickillo and Olsen Pierre really played the way we need them to play for us to be good. (Alex) Figueroa showed up which was nice, Al-Quadin Muhammad showed up which was nice. I'm leaving guys out... but it was just nice to see that the moment wasn't too big for some of the young guys."

James Coley on having a good RB/QB tandem…

"I think it's a good thing to have. I think the great teams have it. Look at the teams that are playing in big time bowl games and in championships and they have a quarterback and they have a running back. How rare is it? It's rare outside the top 20, you know what I mean?"

Mark D’Onofrio on defensive depth…

"We need to have tough competition. We need to have guys competing against one another daily because that brings out the best in any position on the team- whether it's on offense, defense, or special teams. When you have competition and have guys pushing one another, they all get better. That's the best way to improve the team."

Danny Dillard on competition at running back…

“The competition’s stiff. You’ve got Duke Johnson in front of me, and Dallas Crawford. But I mean, we complement each other in a lot of different ways so I think we’ll be pretty good for the season when it comes.”

SOUP

Former Canes WR Davon Johnson was in attendance for practice Wednesday afternoon.

· Junior QB Ryan Williams connected with sophomore WR Garrett Kidd on a 25-yard out route.

· Senior LB Tyrone Cornileus recorded an interception off senior QB Stephen Morris.

· Senior RB Eduardo Clements, who had a nice scrimmage performance Sunday, tore off a 25-yard run up the middle.

· Williams later connected with freshman TE Standish Dobard up the middle for a 30-yard gain.

· Junior WR Phillip Dorsett hauled in a nice 30-yard catch over the middle from Morris.

QUOTABLES

Al Golden on size vs. speed…

"I think we're fast. We still have enough speed. I would never encourage someone to gain weight if they would lose speed. I don't see any negative impact...so I think we're in good shape. We're where we should be to be honest with you. We should have 230-240lb linebackers and 285-305lb defensive linemen."

Golden on Eduardo Clements…

"I wish I would have said more after the scrimmage to congratulate him... It's pretty amazing to think he went 9 or 10 months without anything and worked his way back. I grabbed him yesterday and said, 'I'm really proud of you.'"

Golden on preparing PK Matt Goudis for pressure…

"We scream. Loudly... We try to put him in stressful situations and make sure that he's embracing the moment and the pressure and not looking at it as the opponent. We have two of the best conditioned kickers and punters in the country. One guy looks like Drago (punter Pat O’Donnell) and the other guy (Goudis) is in really good shape and has good leg swing. I'm being serious."

Shane McDermott on the D-Line gaining weight…

"With everyone gaining weight, there's definitely been a difference. You can definitely feel it. It's definitely raised more competition on the field."

Anthony Chickillo on Tuesday’s two-a-day practice…

“I thought it was a good day. Second practice was more special teams based. I felt like some guys earned their spot on the bus. There were some good efforts out there and I think we got better this year.”

Chickillo on helping younger guys get acclimated in the team…

“You’ve got to. You’ve got to help young guys, bring them along. Show them the right way to do things. That’s the only way we’re going to build the kind of team we want to build so we’ve got to do that.”

Chickillo on pass rush unit improvement…

“I think we’re a lot better. Individual guys have improved their skills, which makes the team better. I think we’re a lot better than we were. We were better in the spring, and I think we’re better now.”

Tyriq McCord on his switch to linebacker…

“It’s really no difference. After I’m starting to learn the game of football more now. It’s really pretty much the same thing I was playing last year it’s just that I’m standing up. And then, plus I’m in more space because I’m playing SAM Linebacker so there’s really not that much of a difference. I’m helping out my team by me moving to Linebacker I’m going to help us win the Championship. So it feels good to me.”

So, like I was sayin...

UMike

I had the opportunity to speak with Miami Central Head Coach Roland Smith, who is in is first season at the helm of the Rockets program. Smith played defensive back at the University of Miami and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1991. The new Rockets Head Coach was also the former coach at Miami Northwestern and led the Bulls to a perfect season in 2006.

Q: Your program has been named the number one team in the country by a preseason poll. How do you make sure this accolade doesn’t get to your team’s head?
Smith: We’re just trying to focus on Miami Central. Like I told them, I know all the chatter is out there about these rankings and stuff like that, but it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish. We have to make sure we are preparing on a daily basis and making sure we are perfecting our craft so we’re ready come game day.

Q: Talk about having to replace Telly Lockette and the job he did here.
Smith: He did just a tremendous job here. He also did a tremendous job with me as my offensive coordinator when I was at Northwestern and when the community came calling, and the principal, and the AD, and former coaches were asking about putting me back in I said ‘you know what, I have an opportunity to go back and coach with some coaches that have worked with me’. I put my foot forward and got the job and I was thankful for it.

Q: How much will you be changing the philosophies that Coach Lockette had in place and how much will stay the same?
Smith: Everything we did together when Coach Lockette was with me, him and the coaching staff continued that here. I was able to retain my offensive coordinator/assistant head coach Alexander Snipes and also my defensive coordinator Max Edwards who also worked with me. We ran the same things we did before that we do now at Miami Central.

Q: Who are some under-the-radar players you have going into the season?
Smith: I really think my quarterback Keith Reed is an under-the-radar type kid. He was a kid who was kind of held back last year because of the two studs in the backfield, but he’s going to do a tremendous job for us this year throwing the football and he’s going to open up our offense a little bit more because we are expecting a lot of 8-man fronts. Another prospect under-the-radar is our third-string tailback Malik Adams who has been behind Joe (Yearby) and Dalvin (Cook) for years and schools have been trying to get him to transfer, but he’s a Rocket at heart. He’s been working real hard and he’s going to do some tremendous things for us on the offensive side of the ball.

Q: Tell us about a couple of young guys who people will be talking about this season.
Smith: We are going to have a linebacker by the name of Donovan Thompson, number 44 and he will be a sophomore. He reminds me so much of Sean Spence when he was a sophomore and I tell him that all the time that I see it in him. He’s going to be a kid whose name is everywhere and everybody in the country will come in and recruit him. We also have Calvin Brewton, a defensive back who’s going to be a junior and transferred in from Columbus. He’s doing a tremendous job with the transition. We have some other kids, but those two stand out right now.

Q: You have two of the top running backs in the country in Dalvin Cook and Joseph Yearby. How do the coaches make sure both of them are getting the right amount of touches?
Smith: We do a tremendous job of managing their touches and making sure that one of them is in the slot if the other is at running back and we’ll do some different things where we have them in the backfield at the same time, so you don’t know which way we’re going to come at you.

Ariz & Tito sure know their stuff when it comes to the Canes...but they sure don't know JACK about hip hop music or NBA basketball lol

UMike

CORAL GABLES — At 6-foot-8 and 345 pounds, Seantrel Henderson isn't an ideal punt returner.

Maybe he stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

Because he looked nimble out there Wednesday afternoon kidding around with the rest of the offensive linemen. They were testing the ball launcher so he fielded one, put a little more, and cut up field.

So even with all the focus on quarterback Stephen Morris or the Hurricanes’ potentially rising defense, the role of redshirt sophomore kicker Matt Goudis should not be understated.

Goudis is entering his third season in coach Al Golden’s program. Last season, Goudis saw his only live action, playing in three games. He recorded two kickoffs as well as one punt, which came in relief of an injured Dalton Botts against Georgia Tech.

Now, Goudis enters the 2013 season with full responsibility as Miami’s starting kicker.

“It’s amazing, I’m so excited to get back on the field and be the guy,” Goudis said.

“I can’t wait. It’s been a two-year journey to start and now, after sitting and learning for two years, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Golden praised Goudis for his conditioning entering training camp. Golden said Goudis has “more explosion in his leg” and is “in better shape than he’s ever been.”

We are the people that can find
