Desmond Howard picks Canes to beat Clemson in ACCCG and win ACC!!!

Canesfan_1

I am officially getting nervous. Fall camp closed two days early, players departing almost on a daily basis, and Golden haven't been seen or heard from since camp closed...don't like it. Hope I'm wrong!

No reason to be nervous. Man up.

LOL FRAN.... CANESFAN HOWARD PICKED US TO WIN THE BCS CHAMPIOSHIP 3 YEARS AGO. WE KNOW HOW THAT TURNED OUT. WONDER IF JACORY EVER BOUGHT THAT PINK SUIT?

Canesfan - are you trying to say "Silence is Golden"?

Canesfan_1

Well at least we're not being picked to go 4-8 like last year.

MD - I guess I'm just saying it's not a big deal. I think he has talent, but he has 7 guys ahead of him. That's what happened, probably, he wants a chance to play next year.

At least I'm consistent...LOL

The Dude

No worries about the departures. I expect to see these things regularly at this time of year from now on. These guys were getting passed on by younger players. The staff will find them all homes. These players not only were non factors for next season, but maybe ever at The U. I wish them all love and success where ever they go and thank them for their service to The U. Golden and staff evaluated them and this camp was the last shot.

WWIN, I'm watching Ensworth play Trinity (KY), and I didn't know Elder went to the same HS as Nentambu Fentress. Fentress's lil' brother just made an awesome diving catch in that game...

Yep that's what I was saying when I first brought up Corn. My uncle is a pastor and Nantambu and his family goes to his church, they are good people.

Hi to all of you especially 86 and Mrs. 86. I've been away too long my friends. I finally have an appt. at the U Miller School of Medicine. October 31st at 1 pm. Mayo Clinic turned me down. I have high hopes and feel good about being back at the U. Don't know the details yet, but may need help again 86, once I know how long I will be there with lodging, probably a week.
I hope the Canes can kick some butt this year. Can't wait for the season to begin and to get the NCAA junk behind us.
My best to all of you.

If work is like a disease mine must be like herpes... I only want to work furiously a few days a month. The ret of the time I'm consistently working in the background causing no dram but patiently waiting for my day to strike!

That is not true, camp shut down two days early for media, not for the team. Roster attrition for marginal prospects to begin with shouldn't freak you out.

If anything you should have been freaking out a year ago when the gang that couldn't recruit South Florida straight inked him to a redshirt year roster spot on the practice squad to begin with. Obviously he didn't get the defense very prepared in practice judging by the results so best of luck at the JUCO J.C., hope some girl looking for the Mrs. degree didn't fall for your game for her sake.

SOUP, that's not fair man, I always do things that are asked politely of me by my friends that I'm both capable of doing and are reasonable of them to ask of me to please do. It's just the rest of the time I do what I want and now I'm pissed because I wanted Sandland to deliver strictly for magical thinking to put the last piece of the offensive puzzle on the field for Coley as he steps into the Fishman's shoes. However, the clock says less than seven days so I'll roll with everybody's camp newcomer MVP instead.

Canesteeler

Very quiet in Coral Gables.

So I figure the U's offense has too many weapons to be stopped on any kind of consistent basis. I'm putting the offensive over/under for this team at 35 (last year's median output was actually 39, but until I see otherwise, I'll assume that Coley won't have the O where Fisch did when he left).

I'm still afraid the defensive over/under is way too high to have a lot of victories...(last year's defense surrendered a median 34.5). Is there anybody with enough faith in D'No to talk me down?

U want your UM/UF tix mailed to you or U wanna just meet me in FLL for the game and have me bring them there?

Hey Soup. No transactions in the 954 unless I have authorized it. What are you & OGV really exchanging at Lauderdale International???

MaryLouAlumni i wish you the very best. My father had eye cancer last year and he was treated at the U Miller School of Medicine and The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute which is No. 1 in Ophthalmology. He received outstanding care and is now cured.

CoCane

Fukk Jontavious Carter. Over the next 2 years 3 of the op WR's are gone. His Jr year, he would've been in the top rotation. Possibly the top WR for his Sr year. I could understand him leaving if he got beat out by another frosh during the next off season. But to leave just before the start of your redshirt Fr year is puzzy. He wasn't all about the team anyway. Too bad, because he is talented...

Montreal-Cane

Of the 14 players who have left the team since the end of last season, a dozen were recruited by coach Al Golden’s staff including seven from the 2012 recruiting class.

Carter could have been a little more patient
he had a good camp improved...RFr good size decent speed and hands...

Word is, is that UF is lookin' suspect at RB. Their starting RB is still out, and they say Taylor (Fred's son), and Adam Lane are coughin' it up. Mmm Hm...

I think they're "playing possum" with a lot of the reports I'm reading. That's just a hunch on my part but I don't think they are as weak as they want everyone to believe.
They've been recruiting at a high level for a long time so I call BS to any underdog role for the Turds.

UM is a 31-32 point favorite against FAU right now while UF is a 24 point favorite against Toledo.

Go 'canes!

Naaah Sota', that's their depth chart LMAO!
After Taylor and Lane, they have a walk-on, and another guy that hasn't panned out.

I heard their DBs are suspect to...well see!

Miami now has 76 scholarship players.

With the departure of Carter, Miami has seven scholarship receivers.

Sarasota 'cane

They're not who they were last year, but they have raw talent all over the place.

Duke will crush them with UM's line!

I cannot wait for next Friday!!

Go 'canes!!

CR,

Our DB's are suspect. Lol! They'll be hard to beat in man coverage. I think we'll get them sometimes. Morris has to be pinpoint though. Our WR's won't be running wide open in the secondary.

Thanks 86 for your good wishes. I think of you and Mrs 86 every day. If the U cured your father, then there is hope for me. I guess my brain "exploded" with all the drugs they gave me. But it is,what it is. We have to get together when I come down.
How's Mrs. 86??? As pretty as ever, I'm sure. Love reading all the comments from the CaneSpacers, especially the tried and true all through the years. Can't wait for the Canes season to begin. Basketball was heaven and maybe football will be the same.

I hate the turds. But this is far from the truth. Their DBs are excellent.

I'm not saying they can't be beat, but that's not the weak point of that team. Most of their weaknesses are on offense.

WHERE DID U GET THAT NUMBER FROM?

WAS IT AN "OFFICIAL" SOURCE OR YOUR BEST GUESSTIMATE?

86Cane

MaryLou and Fran...good to hear from U both! Hope U are doing well and hope to see u both soon?

86Cane

With the NCAA expected to make its announcement regarding infractions in the near future (we have no idea exactly when) and a few former scholarship players leaving the program of late, I figured it might be a good time to go over exactly where the Hurricanes stand in term of scholarship numbers by position.

Unless something has changed since Monday (in terms of walk-ons and whom Al Golden has awarded a scholarship to) my estimation is the Hurricanes have 76 scholarship players, nine fewer than the 85 allowed.

HERE IS THE BREAKDOWN
> Offense: 36 scholarship players (5 QB, 6 RB, 7 WR, 5 TE, 13 OL); 9 walk-ons
> Defense: 38 scholarship players (16 DL, 9 LB, 13 DB); 8 walk-ons
> Special Teams: 2 scholarship players; 8 walk-ons
> Totals: 76 scholarships; 25 walk-ons

Don't let their lil "star studded" classes fool you LMAO! Remember, Bridgewater TORCHED! their asses last year. I don't see em', I ain't got no worries LMAO!

Canesfan_1

I'm not saying we can't torch them at all, but on paper, and based on their past performance (minus the Cards), they're very good.

Don't get me wrong, if we execute a good adaptive game plan on offense, we can roll their defense, in fact I expect that. If our D can just play improved from last year, we can win. Florida is not Oregon on offense.

The Dude

I heard some talking head on ESPN or Fox say that Florida needs to many things to go right to beat Miami. He wasn't sold on UF's ability to score. Miami he said could probably make a few more mistakes and still win. We will see. Friday brings football and a good look at the D. 38-16 Canes.

Chad Thomas for BTW just had a TFL and threw up The U!

Well, i was a little quicker than the Herald on this one.

Terrance Sullivan

So we have a 101 players total of which probably 65 travel so whats the big deal again. Wish those that left the best. Next man up. Go Canes!
