You too. Hope they get that Saddledome dried out sometime this year, although that franchise probably would have better luck as a water polo team compared to the mismanagement it's suffered the last 10 years now. (16 posts down now is what you keep harping on in my posting history, trying to play 'gotcha' and missing, since you obviously haven't learned where the scroll down button is when you see the avatar yet, it's a very useful tool though. Get it? Tool? Don't like someone posts' so that's what they are? Ah, forget it, I already have.)

Wally, I'm getting the RedBridge now!

Golden said that the kind of offense that he wanted on Saturday was not an offense that tries to put up 40 points, but an offense that could control the football and take big plays only when they present themselves.

That doesn't sound too good. Sounds like da ravens offense da first time they won da super bowl

Now that Golden has apparently set the "U" on the right track, does Texas come calling with a truck load of money next year?

I read canespace all the time but hardly ever post. I went with my nephew and two youngest sons and it was a blast. I taught these boys early to hate the gators. I told them we hate them so much that if you are eating m&m's and you pull two out of the bag and they blue and orange you throw them away. People look at me strange when I say that but that' s the way it is we hate the gates . Anyways I am so glad we won this game it sets us up for a possible great season. GO CANES!!!

Unlike others here, I saw some good offensive line play out of Seantrel and Linder, and I also saw some communication and execution problems that the OL could improve on as they struggled with DL stunts and even played the same stunt three different ways (confusion as opposed to being outmatched).

Ahh A match made in .....

Apparently, the L.A. KISS have offered Tim Tebow a three-year contract to join the AFL team. Who are the owners: Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.

Of course, they would never dream of doing it purely as a publicity stunt.

Still the idea of Tebow running out onto the field to the tune of Love Gun or They Call me Doctor Love, priceless

Old Skool

That's serious - throwing away the orange and blue M & M's. I'd keep the boys away from the Smurfs too.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm very, very excited to see Stacy Coley redeem himself. It's going to be such a great opportunity to boost confidence.

Defensively, I'd like to see Deon Bush get some game reps...if he's ready.

OGV do you have a video to go along with the chapter you wrote?

tomorrowCane

A long overdue thank you to all the Space's regulars...

Live in the DC area but grew up in what's now Pinecrest and started going to Canes games in the Chuck Forman era...damn I'm old. Been reading the Space for a couple of years and I damn felt like I was in the stands on Saturday reading the posts.

Only caught the 4th qtr on Saturday but finally watched the rest last night. Nice to see some oldtime Canes D. This game was won in the offseason by U Tough. The kids trusted their coaches -- and the process! -- and their reward was sweet. I hope that makes them greedy for more because, if it does, this year could be a lot of fun and swagger if our defense stays strong and our offense gets going.

BigWindyCane1

Morris had lots of pressure and was not communicating with his receivers. More importantly, regardless of his denials, having three OCs in his 4 years at UM has to have some impact on his (and all of the offensive players) understanding of what Coley is trying to do.

I think Morris and the offense will be fine. It all boils down to execution, communication and practice. Golden will get it fixed over the next couple of weeks.

Golden said that the kind of offense that he wanted on Saturday was not an offense that tries to put up 40 points, but an offense that could control the football and take big plays only when they present themselves.

Execution is fundamental in ball control and the Canes did not execute their blocks on runs first and second down after the first quarter. The Canes should have worked the TE, screens and the short passing game more. As a result, the Canes found themselves in third downs and 10+ yards to go. Its hard to have success on third down when you have so long to go to convert.

Unlike others here, I saw some good offensive line play out of Seantrel and Linder, and I also saw some communication and execution problems that the OL could improve on as they struggled with DL stunts and even played the same stunt three different ways (confusion as opposed to being outmatched).

Don't think so. He seemed to be having words with Dorsett.

The speed of the game was really fast and some of the Florida LBs were in his face too often. I think a few times, he wanted to get rid of the ball fast, but his receivers just ran their routes.

canezilla

DOES ANYBODY THINK MORRIS WAS HOLDING BACK AGANIST FLORIDA AND SAVING IT FOR SAVANNAH ST??

LB

That was awful, OGV. Sheesh.

Now, about that "Morris Magic" that we had ordered before the season started...dude doesn't look like the rumored "first rounder" we heard he was from all of the "experts" before the season started now does he?

Posted by: SOUP | September 09, 2013 at 03:46 PM

SOUP, like I've said, "Take what they GIVE YOU, to get what YOU WANT!" UF was blanketing our WRs too much, for Stephen to be making those ill-advised throws He was making. I think another part of it too, is QB-WR communication. Example...when He started hittin' em' in the flats, UF went to press coverage, particularly on Dorsett. Instead of Him and Dorsett converting those routes to fades, they tried to run the 9-Routes, which is hard to do against press coverage, and ESPECIALLY! hard to do against UF's CBs. Another example, on the Corner Blitz, that should've been converted to a stop/hitch route...they could've picked up at least 10-12 yards on that one. But one mistake Morris keeps making, is not reading the MLB on those in-breaking routes. He does a fine job of reading the Safeties on the deep-outbreaking routes, but it's those in-breaking routes that can be fatal. But fortunately, that stuff can be fixed, and fortunately, we have time, and a 2-0 record to do it off of.

j.w.

Ohio- Morris is looking like someone who read all of his press clippings. We're goign to need him, evey team we face is going to try to load the box on us.

j.w.

Happy Monday Canes fans!

Ohio_Cane

SOUP, Morris will settle down. I think game 1 was first game jitters, and game 2 was, well, it was Florida's D.

And Coley (OC) needs to go in the archives, and watch how we used Moss. Ya'll remember that lil' fade route, that Kelly used to throw up for Moss to COME BACK and get...that'll be PERFECT! for Dorsett. Just goes to show, we even had to get CREATIVE for Santana.

Rock and Soup, I just think we got away from what wuz workin the 1st qtr, like bootlegs, rollouts, and short passing routes. Also Morris is panickin, I don't know if he can handle all da hype he got before da season???

Like Bob Griese was saying..."Fish the flats". We should've ran more play-action to, I think with Morris's arm strength, we could've caught em' slippin' on the opposite backside. And I'm surprised Coley didn't get any burn, this game was tailor made for His RAC/YAC ability.

OK CGNC, here's the situation, I'm on the very first seat next to the aisle in the entry corner for the teams (non family section I think). I'm with someone who is suffering from heat exhaustion by the time we even get to their seat to start the game and spent all halftime standing in concession line holding her up from collapsing to buy an icy. Next section over is literally 95% blue wearing fans. I'm taller than everybody else in my section usually and I end up after this game with what I call my, "I personally hate Al Golden voice," roach can attest personally to how silky smooth it sounds the next day, so as you can imagine, I draw a lot of attention to myself, so I know I'm already a target just in general, but for this game particularly that much more so. I spent all the last three months since I knew Tom got tickets for us warning her that's it's going to be even worse than that FSU game we went to last year, and that was pretty annoying in and of itself.

So first half the other team's fans are pretty into the game, but by halftime, reality is starting to set in and that heat, that heat, is killing everybody (I'm still feeling the game today just so you know, yesterday I was lagging bad physically). So third quarter comes around and on the punt UM declined the running into the kicker call on, I ask Tom, who joined our section after the half just in time for about seven seats to clear out and not be retaken by their first half occupiers, "What are we turning down five yards of field position for in a game they're trying to win with the very same for two and a half quarters?" Some voice to my left behind me starts talking about how it wouldn't be a first down then I feel a slap to my ribcage when I don't turn around to listen attentively to the lecture some Spurrier-era-come-lately-blue-wearing-metro-guy, born circa '85-'83 I'm guessing, wants to offer to me as to why and he tries to hit his tagline of, "Don't worry we're going to score here and win this game in the second half."

So, I'm the type of fan that will at most, gesture broadly to a section of fans of an opposing team to mock them in general, but not actually go and talk to them unless they talk to me first. I also NEVER put my hands on anybody else unless they touch me first. I don't appreciate being touched for any reason by an opposing fan and I don't want to talk to some douche who can't read a scoreboard or I didn't ask to speak to in the first place, so I tell him to shut up, don't touch me and go down the stairs. I don't make physical contact, but he takes offense to me telling him to get lost and bows up to get in my face while verbally it turns nasty. About a minute of intense cussing getting exchanged but I'm in my seat, this guys in the aisle trying to start something with me where I have a ticket to sit, so if you think I'm backing down from him, no, another thing coming. Finally, sheriff deputy grabs the douche by the shoulder and pulls him away while he keeps running his mouth about the unfairness of me not wanting to hear him talk smack to me in the aisle is I guess, I wave goodbye and figure, well, have fun outside the stadium loser, and continue watching the game. Except now you've got three sheriff deputies and four red shirt ushers watching the section like hawks.

So now no more problems until the end of the game when finally the fans of the visitors start dejectedly filling out in shame when who's coming back down the aisle for round two? You guessed it! Why he didn't get put out, ask the tax revenue drawing Broward off duty personnel? He get right up in my face and I start laughing at him telling him to go home loser, he says he lives here and I tag him back with how it's nice we let the mentally handicapped enjoy South Florida with the nuero-typical Hurricane fans too. Now he steps in and forearms me once and so now I have a choice, start the brawl he wants or play it cool and keep instigating while he melts-down even more. I tell him, "You hit like a UF linebacker, weak as a female hatch-ling." Another shove, "That's all you got, chica?" (In all of this he's got a UM color wearing fan with him trying to get a piece of me after he gets taken away it should be noted, he looked like he couldn't pass the Ponce address question test to me, but that might be racist to say?)

Now I get shoved by another fat old greying blue clad fan with his wife, (John Reeves era at least) harder and toward the next row of seats down, from one step up behind this repeat offender, so now as I try and balance myself I start running the scenario's in my mind; Does OGV grab the fat man, pull him toward me while trying to get my left leg behind his right knee to simultainiously balance myself with his weight and drive his face into the row of chairs one row below me to wreck his face/life/retirement/family set of dentures he has to share? Or do I grab the first younger douche and try the same in hopes of knocking out the biggest threat to the impending brawl that is just about to break out in this aisle and come up ready to deal with fat boy, his wife, the cops, UM fan with his boyfriend who just got knocked out, etc? Or do I be a good guy and laugh as I hop once to turn 180 degrees, bend at the knee to put my left hand on lower row of folding chair seats and then step down in one motion because I can walk the aisles of SunLife like Edwin Moses running the hurdles in his prime with ease?

Option three, I pop right up in row 14 get back to the last seat and fat guy goes, "Can't do anything to me, I'm an old man, huh-huh." I tell him he better get his coward ass down the stairs with the rest of the losers or he won't be getting any older after-today and that's when they get shoved down the aisle by the people behind him, mostly his wife, while both tweedle-dee and tweelde-dum turn back to talk smack as they go down, down, down, and I bust out the classic DX crotch chops to suggest where they can stick their mouths tonight and the UM fans (minus the douche who was 'backing up' his first moron loser buddy of course) laugh and cheer me goading these dweebs on. Now, apparently Anastasia got pushed by the younger loser as I was recovering from the attempted fat man knockdown, and she went down after these two and chewed out the sheriff who didn't do his job the first time by throwing out the trash in the 3rd and also didn't get his information so she's limping and has a sore wrist. Hey, I tried to warn her it would get nasty for three months, so nobody can say I didn't put her on alert for this sh!t. I told T.Sully this at the party on the patio and he says between guffaws he would have started singing something like this when the crotch chops started from me had he been there;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snW-5AHxYTA

And so, those are the facts good denizens of Canespace. Let this be a lesson to you, always watch out for the old fat losers and their POS children, and don't expect a sheriff take care of the problem for you when he can just do nothing and still get paid.

CaneRock

First off I'm not a troll. Just because I don't post here much doesn't mean I don't follow this site. I'm thankful to Soup for his hardwork w canespace, I'm from Tampa and this town is Gator and Noles wannabe country. I downright hate the gaturds but respect the noles (cause they have the sack to play us). I've been a canes fan since the early 80's. I'm just pointing out what myself and many others have noticed. People like to pile on w negative comments because they don't like an individual or they wanted someone else to get the job. Criticism is deserved from time to time and last year Dno deserved some of it but not post after post after post.

Go back and read most of your posts from last year and the summer (the ones that pertain to Golden and Dno) It almost like you relished their failure's. I didn't take any shots at you (I don't even know you) but I did point out your negativity which at times was ridiculous (pertaining to Al and Dno). I respect your a cane fan and what you do on this site. Just give the men their credit cause whether you like them or not they're here to stay....

Dear Jeff, this is for U: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oai1V7kaFBk

SOUP

Calgary...I will tell U this much about OGV and D'No: OGV was still criticizing him up until the third quarter.

After that he stopped and after the game he was elated with the defense and gave Coach D'Onofrio credit along with the players and Swasey. Don't forget Swasey and UTough in all of this it played a BIG role along with much better scheme and execution. OGV still needs to come on here and say it himself though on that we ALL agree.

The sweetest moment of the entire game may have been when Ohio's best friend and LOF Tracy Howard got his interception and tried to take it to the house. THAT was sweet! I was SO happy for him. I thought to myself Ohio must have jumped through the roof right then and there? LOL

SOUP

HUGE win for the program, HUGE win for recruiting, HUGE win for Golden, HUGE win for Canes fans, HUGE win for the ACC.

There IT is right there.

Still wish U could have been there with us.

Ohio_Cane

I just watched the UM/UF game for the third time last night, and it was just as glorious as the first two times!!

HUGE win for the program, HUGE win for recruiting, HUGE win for Golden, HUGE win for Canes fans, HUGE win for the ACC.

GO CANES!

SOUP

CGNC...it was malicious AND intentional.

SOUP

BTW...Did I mention that the win over UF was HUGE?

If I didn't I should have!

CGNC

OGV - what happened with your gf at the game? Was it rude\unintentional or malicious\intentional?

SOUP

But the craziest thing was trying that gator meat. A lady asked us if we wanted some, it was a lil salty but tasted like chicken it was good.....

Did muschamp shake hands with Golden after the game?

Yes. Golden sprinted across and met him at HIS sideline. Lol

Is it just me, or does that ESPN player intro picture of Perryman...look like Mauric Clarett. I SWEAR! that's not Perryman.

If you all care, I can air the dirty laundry as it happened during and after the game, but I just want to point out, it's funny to try and woof when you're just an ankle biting lap lizard. Fighting gayvielles strike again! (No, you're not supposed to get that reference unless your last name is Host, and if it is and you do let me just say, hi guys, wish we were still technically neighbors.)

If this reference is to some encounter with a-hole turd fans, let us know. I saw and heard plenty, that if the threat of ruining my life and getting arrested didnt stop me, I wanted in on some action. I've never seen a more disgusting fan base in the stadium and that includes seamanholes. I'll admit most of them while being arrogant, knew their place, but there were about 10% that were deliberately talking stuff and trying to start stuff. It was quite a few from my perspective. In every crowd there's always a few, but these were higher than average.

Anthony Chickillo tabbed ACC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week following Miami's 21-16 win over Florida.

Someone said it and I was preaching it to anyone that would listen....
Canes coaches were playing not to lose...playing calling after 1 qtr.
To be GREAT you have to play to WIN! Let the players play and let it all hang out.
They will GROW from this win....trust the process and start letting ballers ball. We have the talent and now we need to let it shine!
D was very strong but I would like to see them line up in different sets or stack LB to one side/gap. Just give different LOOKS and still play sound gap control. JUMP AROUND and FAKE BLITZ. When we blitz, we show blitz....early too.

Happy Frickin Monday Cane FANS! #15

OGV you still haven't said anything about Dno and his defense. I mean you've been quick to point out he flaws and ripped on Golden but now that the D did their job and Golden beat a quality opponent you say nothing until the next time Golden and Dno mess up then you'll come out w the venom. Man up and give credit where credit is due..BTW I'm not a troll, I've followed Canespace since it's induction. I've followed my canes since the days of Stanley Shakespear (RIP).

I'm pretty sure they're building the depth chart towards a 3-4. They may run 4-3 also, but I think they want 3-4 as their main D. JMO

True. And I like the fact that we can contain the QB with 3 DLmen. I like the fact that we're multiple.

I vaguely recognize this handle but you're wrong, click the blue name and read the post 14 down the list from two days ago after the game, then reload and try, try again, TROLL. ;) LOL. (Here's the blog it was on;

http://canespace.typepad.com/canespace/2013/09/game-day-miami-vs-florida.html

that's all the work I'm doing for you to refute your incorrect slander of my good name)

CGNC, he still won't take a swing at tricky little boy Ricky but keeps laying on the sometimes starting RT? Doesn't make a lick of sense to me either, but he got it over with the blog so I can't hate on him for being successful there.

This is getting old, LB. Really old. Just sayin'

Posted by: CGNC | September 09, 2013 at 11:34 AM

Yes...it is.

It was funny at first, but now, NOT SO MUCH!.

Especially considering the FACT! that SMD has taken the time to do Q&As on here. And the FACT! that Susan's sent a kid through the Ivys.

IJS!

CGNC

Speaking of harder, did we get an answer on if Susan is walking yet after the big game?
