Oops... posted this on the last blog while SOUP was posting a new one...

Finally back home from the game. Nice to see & meet all of the Canespacers there! EPIC T-SHIRTS SOUP!

Saw T-Sully, UMike & (his brother), & UpNorthCane all sporting those white Canes vs. Convicts beauties! (I NEVER remember to take pictures!) It was nice talking with OGV and Anastasia too, both Friday nite at the Hampton Inn pool with TSully & Soup and then Sun. morning at the LaQuinta breakfast buffet.

I felt like a red lobster cooking in my own juices in that stadium, but it was well worth it. (And I guess it could have been worse but for the cloud cover.) U-tough definitely paid off for the U yesterday!

It's all been said... the O was lackluster, the D held in there, and we need to improve. It was an UGLY WIN... but it was a W!

One highlight, on my way out I saw Edgerrin James leaving and got to shake his hand and congratulate him on a great career. (Including when I timed his lane in a High School District Track meet back when Immokalee was in the same District as the school I teach& coach at.)

One lowlight was seeing too many real a$$hole Canes fans after the game taunting and pushing old gator fans, and gator families, yelling in their faces and telling them they suck, we DOMINATED them, etc., etc. No reason for that. I thought Ohio State had the worst fans after their "Terry Porter Cheat Call" win in the Fiesta Bowl back in '03 that my wife and I attended, but some of our fans almost matched those idiots. (I'm guessing those moron Cane Fans have never even been to Coral Gables in their lives.) There's something to be said for winning with class!

I saw plenty of a$$hole gators too, and Anastasia said she was pushed down by a gator fan after the game which is totally beyond
belief. (Where are the cops when you need them?)

But overall, it was a GREAT DAY TO BE A CANE!

Undefeated BABY!

SOUP

But a couple of days from now, people's memories will fill up with a bunch of details from other games, and from the rest of their lives, and their memories of Florida giving this one away will fade; they'll need to go look at the W/L column to remind them of what happened. And the numbers don't lie in this case.

There IT is right there.

@hurricanesports: Kellen Winslow would like to remind everyone he went to The U, points to his tattoo after his TD. http://t.co/1NKbYBSfg3

"It's a great chance I'll wind up a Cane," Brady said. "I love it there. They stuck with me through the whole recruiting process."

U should expect to hear a LOT of that over the next few days. LOL

SOUP

Btw is it just me but doesn't the 2013 uf team remind u guys of the early 2000s hurricanes when the defense were solid but our qb was Kyle wright. Watching driskel reminds me alot of Kyle wright.

WWIN

Looking back at the game for the second time, the O-line played well the 1st qtr and musta gotten worn down after that, maybe bcuz of some of the injuries and not enuff players to rotate in???

SOUP

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta...I mean Miami Hurricane!!!

About par for the course for sporting events in Miami, roach. I'm surprised I haven't seen any video of fights in the stands yet. It usually happens. Hell, I've been to a number of marlins games and have seen fights after the game erupt right in front of me while on our way out of the stadium (a major one with Cubs fans one time). Same thing for after a Dolphins-Jets game. Only gave I've been to where I haven't seen it is heat games, but in sure it does. Sad, but that's how it is. You run your mouth in Miami, Miami people will punch back. You get beat, they let you know about it. They beat you, they will get beat physically. It's just the way it is -- it's the minority of fans, but there are enough to make violence at any venue a real possibility. It's like that in a lot of areas, too. SF, LA, Chicago, Boston come to mind. I am not shocked by your report. But you are right, they probably were people who have no clue where Ponce de Leon is let alone what is on that road

SOUP

4 Real...OK, I am going to say this to U nicely, man to man, in a proper way: With all due respect, U need to find another blog.

That is all.

WWIN

Roach, its inexcusable for the way our fans acted after the game, we can expect that from gaytor fans like the one who pushed Anastasia. Or maybe it wuz OGV getting revenge for his girl

Soup that was a funny story of you running into my cousins at the Hampton on Saturday. I told Beth they better not be anywhere near the pool after the game wearing their Gator gear!

Go 'canes!

SOUP

I cannot speak about what Canes fans did or did not do at the game but the Gatah fans were completely out of control. From what I saw they acted stupidly and MAY have got what they deserved?

This is coming from a person who has been to Gainesville and Tallahasse several times for football AND baseball game and I have never acted the fool. I treat their fans with RESPECT when I am there and I have never had a problem.

But they came to Sun Life like they owned it and owned us. They were WRONG. They had to be put in their place.

And this comes from a person who advocated NON-VIOLENCE. It was like experiencing a home invasion. Who wouldn't fight back if that happened to U?

And what happened to OGV and Anastasia was UNCALLED for. I was there with them when it happened. I almost got physical which I NEVER do because it was just WRONG.

But that was ONE time that I thought about it. And prolly would have had it continued. Thankfully it did not.

Canesteeler

I am happy I didn't witness any fools acting up after the game. It is not in my DNA to sit back and watch young folks get in the faces of older folks no matter if it is Gayturd fans or not. Lets get the O fixed and have a great season. I need the Canes to get me through this season because my Steelers are in the Clowney lottery.

WWIN

Soup,

Remember this spring when I kept defending the defense and you told me to "keep fighting the good fight" when almost everybody except you and Ohio said I was retarded???

Well who's retarded now???(Kyle Noton Jr voice, Talladega Nights) LMAO

WWIN, I simply told YOU to stop hatin on Kiffin & his 5 stars just because we weren't landing any NOR developing the ones we already had. You then pointed out that the investigation was hurting us which is true, but I reminded you that USC has ALREADY been sanctioned and dealing with scholly loses which we are not! We give Golden credit 4 staying during our investigation and rightfully so, whereas I gave Kiffin credit 4 going to a school ALREADY on probation. Now if YOU really wanna get into the " Stars don't matter crap" I will gladly introduce you to some bama fans that WILL contest that theory!

The NCAA needs to regain some much needed credibility for so many reasons and what a better way to start by being fair and to free Miami now. I just hope that if some of the coaches who left Miami years ago are guilty, that the NCAA will impose the right sanctions to them as individuals. Yesterday in prime time on national TV here is what some ESPN Analysts far from being pro Miami had to say to the NCAA...Listen to ESPN'S Rece Davis, Lou Holtz and Mark May from the 1:30 mark to 2:00.

You came on here talking about how he gets all the 4* & 5* players and Golden needs to do the same, then that's when I had to inform you of how much kiffin SUCKS and he still can't do a damn thang wit none of his stars!!! And like the #1 thing I told you, what has he EVER DONE or won as a HC, so what is it to hate on????

Now you switch siding from da condoms to bama, what name do you go under on they blog?? Lol Bama fans don't give a damn who Satin recruits, he's god to them, as long as he's the HC they could careless. And on this stars subject, its plenty of players in the NFL that wuznt a 4* or 5* that could tell you otherwise

LB

"4 Real...OK, I am going to say this to U nicely, man to man, in a proper way: With all due respect, U need to find another blog.

+1.

4-Real, your statistics are incorrect and taken absolutely out of context since I joined this blog. You choose your numbers and try to prove a mystical theory because for some reason you have an unhealthy obsession for five-star juvenile males.

Santa Claus is not real.

Last year you lectured ALL OF US continually about the joys of USC. At least six of us (Soupers, Willie Will, OGV) debunked your stats and you went silent until a couple of months ago. You again choose your stats and spew this nonsense in the midst of perhaps the most important win since 2003.

First it was USC. Now it's Alabama. Duck season or wabbit season?

Stars do not matter no do stats....effort, intensity, teamwork, hard work, willing to learn and be coached....that works. Lot of ?Canes came here not many stars....but we have some greats. Stars and stats are not my bag.....I just want to win.

I was so proud of our kids...not a rout, not a runaway....but our D hung in there, punched them in the mouth, and though we made some mistakes, we won as a team. Those kids played like winners....cause they played as a team. That's part of winning. I have not seen that kind of intensity and emotion in a while. Heck I have no real complaints, just work on our fundamentals, keep working together and we are going a long way!!! Great effort and win!!!! These kids are winners....as is AG and staff...

Random thoughts:

- One of these days Soup is going to call me into the principal's office for hooliganism. But it's not my fault, Soupers. I'm here to spread the love of #Sutrel. Too much hate in the world. And the love of Susan and Seantrel will not be stopped.

- I heard that we de-Keefed before the UF win. Remember Canespace Rule #6, fellow bloggerisimos. Adios, Alin.

- The sun shines just a little bit brighter today. Kittens were saved and there was much rejoicing.

- What the eff happened with the Gator fans? Do they need some hugs or something? Can we package hugs and send those little critters some?

- I wore my Canespace shirt while watching the game yesterday. I think it helped, because I'm insane.

- I'll save my game thoughts until tomorrow. I'm still smelling that high. Not only did I have a good tryout for voice acting, but I watched my Canes win, ate at my favorite restaurant, and got some early birthday presents. Not the present that Seantrel gave Susan, but who the effing crap could do that?

I'm giddy, cougars and lions. Giddy because WE WON. I'm enjoying this one.

Tell me some funny stories.

Teams I'm putting on upset alert off that list

Oregon
Louisville
S. Carolina

LB

I give Oregon props for having Donald Duck as their mascot. Because Donald Duck animation is awesome.

The fighting Clint's? Never trust national trends. I think they can lose.

The $EC seems like they're going to eat each other (yes, that was a Dark Knight reference). Alabama plays Walmart and Blockbuster post A&M and have joined the ranks of "suck schedule" behind FSU.

The Dude

Posted by: The Dude | September 08, 2013 at 07:00 PM

Here's what I see as potential Hurricane impacting games.

Kentucky maybe gives #7 Louisville a run for their money and beats them in a rivalry game. Louisville would certainly drop massively.

Vandy can certainly knock off #13 S. Carolina.

Nevada is tougher than some may think. Maybe pull off the upset @ #10 FSU. They played UCLA earlier in the year and got beat up 58-20. They get another chance to go against a Top 25 program.

Tulsa maybe plays #14 Oklahoma close, very doubtful though.

With a win over #23 Nebraska, #16 UCLA has a good chance to jump #15 Miami, so we should be hoping that Nebraska plays well at home.

I'm not saying the underdogs will win, I'm just pointing out that these may be the only games where there is a chance, if even the slightest and would be Miami impacting.

Agreed, but if Tennessee beats Oregon, I don't think they drop under us, unless they really get hammered.

LB

"Soup,

That's another +1. I'm confident that the Space gave the Canes at least three first downs vs. those blue Gators.

LB

"Agreed, but if Tennessee beats Oregon, I don't think they drop under us, unless they really get hammered."

Hammered...

I can think of things that got hammered last night, and I'm not talking alcohol.

The Dude

Lol LB.

BigWindyCane1

I am still confident that Al Golden will work with Coley and the offensive coaches over the bye week and get things turned around. They will play more to team and individual players strengths and will avoid their weakness.

I see a lot of potential with this offense and these coaches. Its just a matter of a lack of execution unfamiliarity. I think the Canes purposely became conservative and got into too many third and +7s to sustain drives. I could criticize some players for what they failed to do at crucial times, but I am confident Golden will fix those mistakes and we will see a better offense.

Sarasota 'cane

Dude I'm thinking Louisville might go down to UCF rather than KY. UCF has to play Penn St this week so we'll know what they're about by this time next week.

TSully...U know what we are all about better than anyone.

GO CANES!!!

SOUP

MIAMI PLAYERS:

Duke Johnson

On maturing...We have matured very much, as you can see. We go out there and perform to the best of our abilities, no matter if we have turnovers.

On Coach Golden’s passion...It’s great to see the things we actually work on in practice execute the way he sees it in the game.

On being back as a national powerhouse again...It could be. You really can’t tell until the season is over, until we come out and finish the rest of the season as strong as we have started. It’s a good stepping stone, a step in the right direction.

On Canes defense...It feels great. Every time we would get the ball and it would be 3 and out. The defense would respond and play with energy and get turnovers, utill we could puts on the board.

On physical play of the defense...That’s what they do. They are physical from the first quarter until the fourth quarter.

SOUP

Allen Hurns:

On Coach Golden’s passion...I enjoy it a lot because it shows his passion for the game and how passionate he is about the game. When I see that, it gets me going.

On the offense...We got the victory so that’s what matters the most. The passing game, we had throws that we wanted to hit that we couldn’t hit. But the good thing about it is we have time to work on it.

Herb Waters:

On beating Florida...It feels good to have bragging rights, give credit to them it’s a great defense, great team overall. They came out there and played their hardest and we came out with the victory. I am just proud. We have try not to emphasize what type of team they are, and keep our poise no matter what but at the end of the day we still have to be happy because we came out with the victory.

Pat O’ Donell:

On his big punts...It always feels good to help the team. That’s my job to try and execute every time I am on the field.

On Coach Golden...It’s always a great feeling having a head coach on the sideline, especially running the special teams. He takes a lot of pride in it and you always want to do your best for that coach.

On energizing his team with his kicks... Anytime I hit good punts, I feel confident. It’s my job to do and I was just trying to do my job for the team.

On punting against the Florida defense...I felt good like I always do, but Florida brought a lot of pressure on some of the kicks so I definitely have to tweak that in practice, so well get that corrected.

Ohio_Cane

Tyriq McCord: I just wanna say thank you 2 all the Gator fans that txt me, tweet me, messaged me, tellin me im GatorBait, 💯💯💯👌 #ITSALLABOUTTHEU 🙌

SOUP

Dallas Crawford:

On work paying off...It just shows how hard we’ve been working. The past two years the stipulation that’s been around us, we can’t play against the bigger opponents such as Notre Dame and Kansas State. It shows
that we actually can if we play our type of football.

On physicality...They were physical, but nothing more physical than what we do every day in practice. Our defense is huge now compared to the other years. We hit every day in practice; Coach Golden is all about
physicality. We are used to it.

On practice...Practice is tougher than the game, always been tougher than the game, that’s Coach Golden’s biggest rules. He will always make practice tougher than the game.

On trusting the defense...I can’t even begin to give them the amount of praise they deserve, they won the game for us. We just really appreciate the defense.

On Coach Golden...He is passionate about everything. Coach Golden could be talking about the schedule for practice and he’s passionate. He is just a passionate guy.

SOUP

MIAMI HEAD COACH AL GOLDEN:

Overall thoughts on the victory…“It’s a good win. We’ve been through so much. It was almost cathartic, to be honest with you. It was 26 months just unleashed there in the last four or five seconds. I’m proud of these guys. You guys watched us grow – we couldn’t handle this setting a year ago. We started to catch on a little bit by the time we got to Florida State, then we played better against Virginia Tech, and obviously because of the intensity, this one is a level higher early in the year. I’m real proud of the way the guys fought. There was nothing easy on that field for either team. It was a good hardnosed football game, physical, and I’m just real proud of our guys’ mental toughness, conditioning and resiliency.”

On the performance of the defense…“I’ve been saying it since the spring - I think they’ve grown up. We played so many young guys a year ago at places you can’t play young guys. We’re so much stronger, bigger up front. Our linebackers are all 20 pounds heavier. The secondary doesn’t miss rotations anymore like last year, so there are no blown gaps. Florida is good. Their running backs are good. Their line is good. Of course they make a good run in there. They settled down in the red zone, made a short yardage stop, took the ball away a couple of times. It says a lot about Coach D’Onofrio, the game plan that he put together, and really the whole defense. The whole defense got a game ball.”

On postgame emotions and reaction…“I was excited. You guys know me – I don’t really hide my emotions. I just wanted our guys to celebrate. It really had nothing to do with other than running over there, being classy and courteous. I did want the kids in that endzone because I wanted them to thank all those people that stood by us, all the guys that - no matter what they’re there. They stood with us. It was a good moment for our guys.”

VA Cane

I was impressed how enthusiastic we played. Rayshawn was hauling ass on that pick; the guys mobbed him afterward. At the end of the first half dem dere dumazz Crocks was jawing....our guys stood together....not wild...but as a damn unit that said don't fuk with uz!!!! I loved that. I felt that TEAM feeling....that we all have felt when we won NCs!!! Like what we have on here....a TEAM!!!! Damn I was up and down hollering...so was my Mom!!!! Its a Canes Thing, a contagious Thing.....if ya aint on da bus ya don't understand!!!!!

It is not the stats and the stars, its the heart, the effort, the determination, the will to overcome the past 10 years, the NCAA, the things that were done wrong that got us down, Nevil.....we all feel it.....those incredible young men went out there and lived it.....for all of us!!!! How can you not love that? How can I complain? I cannot and will not!!! Damn it great to be a CANE!!!!!!

What a weekend.....36 hours in SFLA with my son. Got to meet SOUP and UPNORTHCANE. Picked up awesome shirts.... My son wore the Canes vs. Convicts for last two days-GOT stopped a 100 times by people who wanted to read it and give props to the U.
Even at Ft. Lauderdale airport at 6:00 am and BWI airport at 9 am this morning!

Witnessed at trench war and so glad we hung on to win the game! My son and I took in all aspects of the game. Found SOUP...Looked for Canezilla & UMike (No luck). After the game, we too witnessed a ton of BS.... I told my son, game was hard fought and I would not give Gator fans a hard time. Especially the older ones and families....at we witnessed a number of incidents. Really upsetting but I used as a teaching tool for my son!

Overall GREAT day to be CANE. Nice to see 15 in AP. But, we have some work to do! This game is OVER. Let's move foward and get better each day!

THANKS SOUP!

Says it all:

Asked about the recruiting impact of a win like this, Golden said, "We're part of a program that's played for more national championships than anybody in the last 30 years. We have the most players in the NFL.

He says nothing derogatory about FU, takes the high road with everything, and is truly a class act. We all know the above is true, but it doesn't hurt to remind who we've beaten and who doesn't have all of the above stats, but it isn't necessary to remind. FU wants to put this behind them, but it's impossible to do. Jackpot.

Fortunately I didn't see anyone directly being obnoxious to older Gator fans, other than the usual singing/chants making way down the spiral ramps. It sucks when fans can't maintain class. Truly, this is why alcohol shouldn't be at games, as these folks get even more obnoxious with fuel. FU fans, especially the younger ones, seemed to be pretty obnoxious up until the end. I'm good with that. The final score was satisfying enough.

I guess Texas folks feel a bit like we did last year right now. Sorry for them, but I can only really worry about one program.

Who wants to go to work tomorrow? ;)

NOTE TO ALL CANESPACERS:

For those of U who read every day but have never commented...COMMENT NOW!

For those of U who read every day but have never been to a game...GO NOW!

Stop sitting on the sidelines, get in the action and get in the game.

As I'd said on an old blog last night, thx for the shirts, Soup. Hope they're still available and all pick them up if so to support the space.

Also, I like the mutual admiration thing going between Dabo and Al. This is the type of thing the ACC needs to build up. This is exactly how Howie and Bobby B. build up the FSU/UM rivalry to the dislike of the Gator, making them less relevant for a few decades. Let a few ACC teams get good, make players want to go to one of them for the rivalries (need FSU Jimbo to step up), and it becomes more self-fulfilling.

Man I told you guys .....you know I'm a defender.....that we had to hit Driskell God was that a hit on that fumble....and even the last 2 plays of the game....he got hit....hell he was running from us something fierce.....basic dog mentality....you show strength and ferocity they will run while peeing down their leg....run Jeff run!!! He got hit all day and it was a huge part of the game!!!!!

and I tell you what else.....watch the replay and look how far and fast Perryman comes after that fumble.....he looked like TB the Blur!!!!! Watch it and see.....that kid is an animal....I want him on my team....and just curious....how many stars did he have versus how many teams in this country would like to have a guy like that right now? Damn he's fierce....Love It!!!!!

SOUP

I will make more of the Canes VS Convicts shirts in the next week. They will be ordered and shipped accordingly.

The Dude

Sometimes man, living in Idaho is really cool. Giant osprey sitting on top of a cottonwood tree through a hail storm for an hour. Then he fights off a bunch of b*tch crows. There were 16 I counted. Now he just sits on top of that tree as the sun is setting.

Texas, ND, USC and UF all lost this weekend.....first time since 1976!!!! Damn I was a Sr in HS with my team winning a State Title. I remember that was the year I saw the SB cause my Raiders were in it...me and my pop went as my godfather was the DC for Oakland. I also remember seeing a Canes game with my uncle....we were not to good, but it was still fun!!!! We have come a long way. I cannot imagine being a fan of any other team. I have friends, you probably do too... who say " well I like VT, Michigan, FL or whoever etc; you know I have several teams"....aint no others for me....only UM!!!

VA Cane

I am turning in...drinking a Grolsch beer out of my favorite UM cup....hail to our heroes!!!! Goodnight all, sleep good tonight in Caneland!!!!!!!!!

VA Cane,

You said you watched the game with your mom yesterday. Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought you posted last year that she passed away. My bad if I'm wrong but that's what I remember...

Ohio_Cane

I expect an email to go out from the NCAA tomorrow saying they're ready to announce their findings. Which means Tuesday will be the conference call with media and the announcement

gnav

OGV you still haven't said anything about Dno and his defense. I mean you've been quick to point out he flaws and ripped on Golden but now that the D did their job and Golden beat a quality opponent you say nothing until the next time Golden and Dno mess up then you'll come out w the venom. Man up and give credit where credit is due..BTW I'm not a troll, I've followed Canespace since it's induction. I've followed my canes since the days of Stanley Shakespear (RIP).

Co! How are the little cokettes?

Panamacitycane

Just got my tickets for the Miami vs fsu game...section 16 so hopefully I will be with all the canes fans. We really need a statement game against SSU. We aren't normally a team to drop 60 points but if we want to crack the top 10 we really need to before ACC play starts. Also anyone know if allcanes is doing another canes party the night before the game? Last time here in tally they had AJs sports bar set up for canes fans...hoping we do that again

Panamacitycane

Oh I meant night before the FSU game.. I live in tally And this is the only game I get to go to and love to take full advantage
